I’ve ran a Parma 12x2 brushed with a Tekin 411G with the original Egress and just loved how the car performed - not racing but just for fun. I drove that car hard back in the day, still have it today and restored it back to original - got a vintage body shell kit from Beatties which I will paint up one day and fit.
Made a part of my Xmas. Thanks for the blast to my childhood dreams. All the best.

I finally got my Avante 2013 recently. I was so lucky to find a local online shop had new in packet original blue ends! I snapped those up and my car really looks the part. I’d love to get the shock mounts but unlikely.
Finally I have the Egress, and Topforce Evo that still is in the box... but one day I would love to see how fast they are against eachother. As I read on forums, Egress would be better on uneven tracks, where the Topforce is faster on carpet/ flat tracks, but what do I know ;-) Both beasts of a cars these two!!
I was initially wanting a Tamiya Avante black, but due to insane eBay prices I opted to wait due to the tamiya release stating they will reissue early 2022, yet to happen. then I found a regular avante thru hobbytown website in another state. But then I came across a new Egress Kit at sticker at another hobbytown locally, so I cried and bought it. But I knew as I cried it was much cheaper than eBay prices for avante black, avante rere, and even eBay egresses. I screwed up a few bits which resulted in me getting upgraded blue anodized turnbuckles, but it was overall a good build and it really goes like hell with the castle mamba and 5700Kv motor. I just hope the diffs hold, but damn its nice. I grew up with Frogs, hornets, grasshopppers. So, I am into Tamiya cars as an old man.

Thanks to your videos my brother has dug out my original release Egress from storage. 27 MHz radio is jerky (probably from falling into water years ago - not on this car mind you)... Otherwise it seems to work even after so many years.

I think you are right about Top Force. I’ve had both and TF was straight out better. Egress was just iconic in every way where the TF was very simple.
Looks wise and technology, the Avante platforms all over just gives me goosebumps.

Nice car, one of my favourites from the first 100. Although I do agree the top force is a more sorted car out of the box. I remember wanting an egress to race at my club back in 88/89 but ended up buying a yokomo dogfighter as it was cheeper. That says a lot about how expensive these cars where at the time. In the right hands however this car was pretty formidable, a driver from my club had one and managed to win nearly every 4WD A final in both indoor and outdoor class, and it was white haha :)

I was in the hobby as a kid from the era of the Frog to the Bigwig so I don’t know these later kits like Egress and Avante. They seem a big jump forward in tech but I’m not sure they have that classic 80’s look of the previous cars.

It's a good wheeler (4x4 buggy). I run mine with a 7.5 brushless setup (an old no longer available Viper esc and motor, but the Maclan stuff is really the same). I find the Tamiya TBLE-02 is just a plain lacking esc for brushless set ups. I get that you like to Tamiya stuff, but go invest in at least one really nice end end BL ESC like a high end Tekin or Maclan. The difference is EXTREMELY noticeable.

the sensor wire senses where the shaft is in terms of the magnets and the wire turns. brushed motors do it automatically with the brushes.

Beautiful car, Avante was, still is one of my grail cars. Wasn't there 3 cars with this chassis? Pretty sure the Avante was the top model as it was more expensive than the other 2 cars.
Been running my TBLE02S in my TT02 without fan for ages without overheating. Might be different in that small buggy body though...

Yeah I run them all the time Roger and never had an issue, but apparently you need it when running the TBLM 10.5 motor 🤷🏼♂️

Tbh I’m not sure at the moment, it could I think 🤔. Just thinking out loud, I guess if it does I could put a spacer inside the shock body! I’ve also noticed that the guys who run them, have the shock collars 3-5mm down, so maybe without doing that it would sit right 🤷🏼♂️

Take a look at the amount of CRP mass around the 2 front shock tower screws ! My shock towers broke today exactly around the 2 shock tower screws...In my view, the engineers at Tamiya designed the towers so thin and fragile, that it is a predeterminded breaking point. BIG THUMBS DOWN to the super greedy Tamiya company !!! Their stuff is crazy expensive enough already !!! There isn´t even enough space to install 2 identical shock towers to compensate for the poor mass of CRP....So I will have to make some bigger CRP towers myself...I am fed up with Tamiya now...I feel ripped off....My Egress kit (450 EUR) was not even complete and included a front gearbox part which had a hole in it, where sand got in and I had to rebuild and clean the whole front gears plus ordering new front gearbox parts.

Colour shift paint on the Windows? Not sure if there's a polycarbonate compatible aerosol,thinking coordination with blue?the sand scorcher chassis flex would drive me mad!!! I'd be looking at clamping two together with epoxy or aluminium plate as a replacement! Lol

I use it on mine and it works just fine, actually I think I had to use an extra thin washer to make everything line up, works great
I am a box art man to. Get a tamiya brushless motor they go down to 3.5t I would love see that one run.

Yeah I’ve got the 10.5 on order Brad, that’s the Max the TBLE02s will run! To run the lower ones I’ll need to buy a very expensive ESC if I want the Tamiya one 😞

However you can easily put in the Avante center differential. I drive mine this way, make it a very predictable handling car.
I made my Egress like the original as well. For the blue rod ends you can cheaply source them from the Super Clod Buster F tree. I also bought the vintage B parts, cost me 100 us. A third of the price of the car but worth it!

Glen I just watched this video and as always I love your enthusiasm and knowledge on the subject "but" and this is a huge BUT! Your insistence that the top force "out of the box" I’ll just repeat that... the top force "out of the box" is better than the Egress "#@¥$ OFF" the top force without ball races, without a metal motor mount, without carbon, with plastic shocks with dog bone rear driveshafts, with 80s front drive shafts, with crappy alloy gears that wear out in two minutes, with cast alloy diffs that can’t handle hot motors, even the rear wing has to be masked before painting and all of that is better than the perfect modernised egress, with its carbon alloy loveliness and those updated ball diffs, driveshafts, and uprights... take that back at once...! Sorry I didn’t know what came over me I think I may have collapsed another lung sorry I’ll try not to let that happen again 😉
