    I honestly think that it doesn't matter if Beth is a clone or not. That's why it was left hidden. Only Beth's own choices have impact on her life and relevance to her. Nobody else. Not her family or the audience. It only matters to her. Which is why our own choices in life are important and meaningless at the same time.

    Its interesting how Rick is all: "being smart is worst than being evil. Do whatever you want"
    And then he complains about how Wall Street and Washington DC are evil.

    • @monoremu3200
      @monoremu3200 Před 6 lety +19

      i think he meant that they are not smart, and anything that less than smart annoys Rick I guess. At least being evil has a moral bias, but being as smart as Rick there's no moral, no good or bad, no standards given his ability to travel to every conceivable reality.

    • @endplanets
      @endplanets Před 6 lety +10

      Arikyo-kun
      An interesting take. When Rick murders people for money it's awesome because he is smart but when Wall Street does it its bad because they are dumb. And Rick doesn't consider anyone smarter than him so it all works out.
      Our Rick thought that the Council of Ricks was evil like wall street even though they are basically as smart as our Rick.
      Which works out fine since our a Rick is selfish, evil and a hypocrite.

    • @monoremu3200
      @monoremu3200 Před 6 lety +5

      endplanets also, our Rick is the Rick-est of them all. He literally said that when nothing is matters to you, u basically become the master of the universe. The Council of Rick has their values and maintaining orders matters to them. That's why they failed against Rick

    • @badraccoon333
      @badraccoon333 Před 6 lety +5

      I don't think rick sees them as evil. He simply has no respect for them. "Evil" indicates morality. Rick has little morality.
      He simply doesn't like to be told what to do and he doesn't like followers or group think, even though he likes to lead and no one to challenge him.
      At rhe end of the day, Rick is like anyone else, in some ways he is a hypocrit. But that's sometimes necessary to make it. Idk.... he's not perfect.

    • @Vher_
      @Vher_ Před 6 lety +6

      I'm pretty sure Rick doesn't care if the Council is good or evil. He feels like versions of himself that need to band together against any sort of ennemy is pointless, because he's the smartest man in any universe, thus, if the other Ricks can't deal with their shit alone, they're not as good as our Rick. They're weak.

    I don't think Beth is a clone because the clone wouldn't be overly happy ; the clone would act just like Beth and just like nothing happened. Beth is just now happy that she knows she's choosing her life and she knows who she is . The part where Beth looks at the pictures of her family is supposed to hint that she chose her family because she's got that same overly strong attachment to her family. She's just like her father and she's come to terms about that . Rick hugging his family isn't out of the norm in this situation because many times before he's hugged his family . He usually hugs them after something has happened and things seem to be better for him or the family.

  • @davemytnick8986
    @davemytnick8986 Před 6 lety +109

    When you mention that end of episode Beth has to be the clone because she was calm and Rick hugged her, I disagree. While you're explanation is possible, I think it's equally possible that it was just a way to show that Rick and Beth actually had some degree of character growth and father/daughter bonding. I think it was supposed to be an ending that left either outcome equally possible and keeping the audience guessing.

    Technically Rick time travels in the first episode when he goes to get the bone-fixing serum for Morty. He stays in another dimension for so long that his teleportation gun runs out of juice.

    • @jaysonklein6018
      @jaysonklein6018 Před 6 lety

      Yeah, but time travel aren't the main focal aspects when Rick hops worlds/dimensions. However, you brought up a point that he's time traveled AT LEAST once... but it MAY have been out of duress, to get back to Morty, in a timely manner.

      Wasn't Rick's arm healed as well? I suppose he could have fixed it with something quickly, but maybe it is a temporary clone and his arm is still the mechanical one.
      My guess is Beth and Rick took off on an adventure and left clones behind. Rick doesn't need Morty to do stuff; he has left him behind several times. And he knows he'll be back soon, after having some fun with his daughter.

    I've wondered sometimes why is it tht in the entire multiverse there is not Rick and Summer, is only limited to Ricks and Morty's. And I remembered when Rick said that is gotta be that way since Morty is a cloaking device. But still shouldn't there be a version of Summer with the same brain waves since they share the same parents. This episode gave me an answer. Rick, Beth, and seemingly Morty have something in common, which is a potential to be super smart, and evil. And the reason why Summer can't have this gene or whatever is because it is possible that the gene is only passed on to the opposite sex. Rick gave it to his daughter, Beth to her son, and Morty would pass it to his daughter. Even tho Summer could be just as "useful" as Morty, she doesn't have the potential to be as smart, or as evil. And Rick knows it, so he keeps Morty by his side, to make sure he doesn't become another Rick. Make sense to me. Hopefully someone reads this.

    Beth's changed behaviour doesn't necessarily mean she took the clone offer. Like Rick pointed out, regardless of choice she can chill the f*** out.
    If she stayed, that would explain that fatherly love look he gave her when he didn't time travel to get pizza
    If she left, that would explain why she looked almost too refreshed and being weirdly motherly. However, the freedom one would feel with such an incredible choice, would feel refreshing af!

    Ok so, I havent heard this yet, but does it seem possible after these recent events, that possibly Beth cloned Rick to come back and be her dad again? She clearly doesnt remember her childhood very well. Maybe she missed him so much that she cloned him with her experience from being Ricks daughter and medical knowledge, (the bear being an example of how early her anatomic experience began) and all of this is what happened after? It might explain Ricks memories of Morty when he supposedly wasnt there. Maybe Rick is the one who went Bladerunner. In bladerunner false memories are implanted to create a depth of feeling and familiarity and make them more "human." Beth clearly is Ricks daughter. Maybe to a level we never imagined. He obviously was willing to give her whatever she asked for. Maybe the ultimate gift was the intelligence to construct a dad that really loved her. (The hug at the end now has more layers.)Tommys play has a character that displays how beth doesnt have a dad that loved her. And she doesnt seem to have any issue working the cloning machines in the montage. Just a thought or a jumping off point. Probably stupid. Tear apart as Im sure you will.

    Jesus, once ONE person states that the King Tommy "play" reminds them of the mummers in GoT, every channel on CZcams has to put it in their R&M review vid as though it were the show writer's intention. I seriously doubt that any of them actually had GoT in their mind whilst writing/developing that scene. I didn't even think GoT when I saw it. But yet every vid I watch reviewing this episode makes the same claim "this is a reference to GoT!".
    No. It wasn't. That's just you projecting.

    • @theoriginalduplicate82
      @theoriginalduplicate82 Před 6 lety +2

      John Thompson My point is that he didn't claim "OH, THIS IS A GoT REFERENCE", he just said I THINK this a GoT reference. That's my point that is still better than yours my good fellow. Now you can think that if you want to it's your opinion but just remember to think before you say anything. (BUT WHAT DO I KNOW I'M JUST SOME DUDE IN THE INTERNET!)

    • @Pinko_Band
      @Pinko_Band Před 6 lety +2

      Your parentheticals is possibly the most accuratist thing I've ever read ever in the history of everness.
      I kid on you tho, Bobby Mobby.
      But MY point is: it doesn't matter that he said "I think". I was referring to the fact that EVERY SINGLE review vid of this episode made the same claim and point out the exact same references with the exact same reasonings. They are all the same. They even show the same clips of whatever random reference that these shows are referring to. And it's not just this particular channel or just the R&M reviews---it's every single channel that does similar things like reviewing popular shows/episodes. They all literally say the exact same shit. I seriously doubt that it could all be chocked up to parallel thinking. Some people are just being lazy. Well, maybe not "some", but A LOT of people! It's like one channel does all the work, then others just copy/paste--although I can't be bothered to check to see who was first to upload therefore they would be the "original thinker". But it's the same kind of shit with news media.
      (Emergency Awesome, this channel GameSpot Universe, etc.--there are several others)
      So now I don't even care what channel it is, if there is a vid in the suggested vid column that is a R&M episode review, I just click on it arbitrarily, knowing that having a favorite channel that does this is pointless because they all say the same shit anyways.

    • @theoriginalduplicate82

    The creepy man joke "I hate to see her leave, but I love seeing her walk away" means that the hypothetical man loves to have the vision of the back of said lady strutting away, meaning he likes to see her butt moving.
    What Jerry said is that he finds sexual thrill by seeing his girlfriend phase shift away, because he already expressed how he finds attractive that she has alienesque hunter skills. So, in this case, they are making a joke how her powers are a point of interest for Jerry in the same way that other men feel about big butts. It makes sense.

      Time travel exists in their world (Episode 1 of Season 2), it's just that they don't ever want to make it an actual plot device for any of their episodes. The box itself is just an easter egg for the fact that Rick and Morty started out as a parody of Back to the Future.
