What other videos should we do on Rick and Morty?
cover some of the comic books
I guess you could do a theory concerning beth is a clone or not and evil morty
GameSpot Universe text graphics are from the TV series 24..
you could make a retroactive breakdown starting from season 1 in the same style you do the new episodes. While many fans already had watched those, it would be nice to have all those references you guys add to the videos on those as well
I agree with Black Barth
If Rick’s afraid of Pirates...what about Pirates of the Pancreas?
Keepsake Studios Because it was scary to him, but only him, which is why everyone else thought it was dumb.
It's an inside joke. He hates piracy by literally hating pirate copies of the show
He found pirates scary, so naturally he thought everyone else would
Yup he hates those pirates on CZcams who upload new episodes
its like batman
*Top ten anime fights.*
Rick Sanchez vs Mr.President.
Rick and morty is not a anime
Dark Knight Yes it is
Lol
ity's fucking west cartoon, JEEZ, keep ur ur weeb stuff urself

Racist I'm actually Japanese.
Rick and Mortys fans after the finale:
Okay, but it's not what I wanted
Samantha Furnish TOO TRUE
Who's to say this wasn't the SERIES Finale? How lackluster this season was, and Mr. Poopy jeering at the audience, this was the end for sure, at least for me.
EinsamPibroch278 Because season 4 has already been confirmed
What exactly did you guys want?
Oh yea, everyone wanted Evil Morty right?
They both confirmed and denied the moon landing in the span of 3 episodes
Lioness lmao right
They could have tried to fake it at first, or did at first and landed for real later, depends on the Universe too, we don't know how much they jump or how much time passes between episodes usually lol
If Rick is scared of pirates, then why does he like Pirates of the Pancreas
Silver it's supposed to be a scary ride. which is probably why he thought it was so good.

Silver Bad writing.
Astor'hai makes sense
The brainwashed ninja kids reminded me more of Spy Kids.
Christopher Bryan That’s what I thought too. Although the suits were a different color scheme, they don’t wear dog tags, and I don’t remember anything about a dog whistle, but the eyes did remind me of the glowing eyes from the robot kids in that movie.
On another channel it was said they were an omage to Escape to Witch Mountain twins, i could see either or
To me it had a classic children of the corn vibe.
I thought they were an MK Ultra reference, what appear at first to be dolce/drugged children come out of a wall to a room, that would be meant for private parties, and turn out to be secret ninjas. Yea seems pretty MK Ultra- esque to me
I hope season 4 doesn't take 6 years
Shadowdragon724 more like 15 years
Dank_Souls its coming out this year, 2018 (´∀`)
Ow man its coming soon c:
@@lenczie444 It didn't... :c
Can you believe season 4 is already over
I'm sure about one thing...Rick's don't care about their Morties...that's for sure
Evil Morty like you would know! You are my original m-morty! Little bitch! *sips his flask*
how to cringe 101
Dwayne Rose I've never laughed so hard in a while. Thank you my mans.
I love u mr president
Best president ever!! I voted for you!
I don't get why people were pissed at this episode. Just because evil Morty didn't show up? It took 2 seasons for him to resurface and you want them to blow that story-arch load already? Some people have no patience.
The whole episode was a "fuck you" to the type of fans online who bitched and complained that it was taking too long to come out and then attacked the female writers of the show. Roiland, Harmon, and the rest of the people who make the show owe us nothing, just like Rick & Morty owing the president nothing. My 2 cents. Give me that Funko.
Zack Chapman THIS! THANK YOU!!!
DoubleSunday Ok for once this argument holds weight, bitch you try and make a tv show and see how long it takes
DoubleSunday Every female writer? I bet u don't even know how many of them there are
DoubleSunday then stop watching it you little baby back bitch
This was scripted way before season 3 came out so its very unlikely
Damn I hadn't noticed how muscular Buddy Hutton is. You are hot Buddy! Also, I liked this finale because it means President Morty is gonna have a longer arc in the next season
You seem like the only person thinking the same rather then one ep, smart man
Bill Gates why should that matter? It’s almost 2019 lmao. Get with the times.
Exactly! I'm happily married to a chick and I still think Buddy over here looking like a snack with that bicep flex 😂😂😂
5:16 I thought they were from Spy Kids
I always come back to your breakdowns :) This was such a good episode, a good season overall.
This is absolutely the best video I’ve seen regarding this episode. I don’t know anything about this channel, but this series has become my favorite series dealing with Rick and Morty.
I always love the extra effort you put in your videos. Loved that you noticed the dancing dino during the canteena scene.
Only a very long time till season 4 but whos counting....
*whispers* i am...
Joshua Kim whispers* same back
Heard that they finished the script for season 4 since last October
Reborn no they finished there break last octuber
TheDankDreams oh
"You don't know because you are a bad son" i died lmfao
Yeah, Rick's got some great oneliners. The best, in fact.^^
Wasn't the reason that this episode felt unfinale-ish was because they had to finale-fy it when they were informed this season would only have 10 episodes not 14? If someone could fact check me that's be great.
Holy Shit.
That's why?
Beth isn't a clone because if she was, Rick would have actually terminated her for becoming self aware.
And the Film Theorists proved that Rick couldn't grow a Beth clone in time.
Kyle Chamberlain Yeah, trust the guy who thinks that Sans is Ness, Wario is 10 feet tall, and insists that all who give constructive criticism is "hating"
Then see point A, if you hate Matpat.
When Rick proposed to Beth that he would clone her he said that no one would know she was missing if he kills her clone and they are all aware of this then the family would know that Beth is missing.
However, if the Beth Clone is self-aware, then the family knows the real Beth is missing anyway, so why keep the Beth Clone? The whole operation's blown anyway.
The main point of the "Is Beth a Clone" plot point is to see how much giving Beth that option back-fired on Rick so hard that we got knocked back to season 1. The whole point was to get her to calm down and decide that she wanted to be there for the family, or to be replaced with someone who would do the exact same thing, neither of those things happens. Instead, Jerry wins. Fucking Jerry.
Kyle Chamberlain how do they know the real Beth is missing if he just convince everyone that the clone isn't a clone. She can't know if she is real or a clone because Rick won't tell, And/or if original Beth comes back he could say she just fell in to her old necrosis. Their is no way to know one way or the other if Beth left unless we see her decided to stay. Schrodinger's Beth
Watch The Beth at home be a clone And the real Beth come back not loving Jerry
The episode wasn't what I expected but I liked it, and I felt it worked well as a season finale. I don't get why people say the Citadel episode should have been the finale. Prime rick and morty are barely even in it and it has nothing to do with the seaon's ongoing story arc and just serves to set up a future villain, one that may or may not even appear in season 4. Afterall evil morty didn't appear in season 2, we don't know how long until he shows up again.
Love you too, Buddy.
I can't believe how much these breakdowns had grown on me, like they became part of watching new episodes. Great job GameSpot Universe. I'll see you in... a very long time.
Has anyone linked the president saying “today we celebrate our independence... from Rick and Morty” to the original speech from Independence Day?
I did upon first viewing. ☺
YAY, I’M NOT ALONE!!!!!
Noooo reallyyy???
yes they are called everyone.
...yes...everyone
Thank you for making this 3rd Rick and Morty season so enjoyable :)
Thalía de Montserrat anticlimactic ending disregarding your expectations regarding episodic tropes in sitcoms and cartoons? Ohhhh no. Not Rick and Morty!
Aww Geez I thought the robo kids were a spykids reference. Sad day for me.
Meagan Dunford so did I
I just love how they ended he season like a normal episode: there's a bunch of things that they go through that indicate that they should change, but by the end of it they just end up being the exact same from when they started the season. Nothing has changed but there are a significant amount of loose ends that make me excited to see season 4.
it isn't the exact same situation as in episode 1.
It is the exact opposite!
Beth divorced from Jerry --> Beth loves Jerry again
Morty feeling uncertain about him and Rick --> Morty stands up for himself and his family
Summer... well idk about Summer.
Rick promised Beth that her clone had zero chance of going blade runner, so it seems that the most practical thing to do would be to make a clone that didn't remember that conversation about making clones. This implies that it's the real beth.
The dog that did not bark, in the finale, for me was the issue of the portal gun.
That is a reference to mysteries in which a case is solved, because a dog does not bark, because it knows the person that approached it.
I have suspected for a long time, in the various seasons, that the portal gun itself is a character, and is doing subtle things to the characters that use it.
Rick goes off on the low rent stargate that the POTUS uses to get around, and somehow does not notice when Morty steals the Portal gun to get away.
This finale was, mixed in with the jokes, about the portal gun.
Rick has been using this thing the longest, which has increased his competence and intellect to Dr, Who levels, which Rick keeps referencing. Rick was originally smart, but he is vastly more intelligent than the counsel of Ricks, which was revealed in the Tales from the Citadel.
Morty, in the finale, is as competent and smart as I have ever seen him, and actually fakes Rick out by stealing the Portal gun.
Summer has been changing and growing in intellect, and vastly smart and competent, as shown in Morty's mind blowers She seemed to have that change happen as she had more experience with the Portal gun.
Even Jerry, weak and douchey, after his travels with the portal gun, seems more cunning, self aware, and able to be competent enough to win Beth back.
Finally, Beth, who has had the least time with the gun, but, according to Rick, dangerously smart, becomes aware in the finale that she is on a cartoon show, and refers to season One.
Rick, through the use of the portal gun, has created an entire family of competent, and even dangerous and intelligent people, who could become a threat in his future seasons. This finale was doing a reveal of what Rick is actually facing.
Rick did not just lose control of his family, but he may becoming aware, that they get him a bit too well, and are changing into their most Rick selves..
Jonathan Brooks Hmm, perhaps they might become such a threat that Rick may have to team up with "evil" Morty? Because that would be awesome.
@@thisdraco4794 why would he team up with the person whose purpose is killing all Ricks?
Has anyone noticed that Morty is slowly becoming more casual about everything and more aggressive to everyone else? He's basically Rick Jr. at this point.
No one points out how Jerry just had that song and that specific part and speech ready?
I loved that finale, I love how the ending scene was just Rick glaring at the happy family that got back together because he was too distracted with his pettiness. Little moments like that are really what make this show, subtle details. It opens up a lot for season 4 and how Rick deals with losing to Jerry. People may have wanted a big dramatic ending, but that's not how Dan and Justin like to roll (just look at season 1.) The only reason season 2 ended so dramatically was because it wasn't intended to be the final episode; however, the writers couldn't come up with a satisfying resolution in time so left it as a cliffhanger and stuck the purge episode into the line up to finish off the season. I can't wait until season 4, but I also can't wait until the blu-ray release of season 3 so I can listen to that sweat commentary a million times like I did with seasons 1 and 2. Seriously, I can't believe how much those guys make a commentary so satisfying to listen to. They really love their work.
This video was just too great
The most important thing of all. Rick stayed, even if he lost, he stayed in the same dimension.
Nice recap!
When I finished putting in my entries for the giveaway: Awesome! Can’t wait for more videos! I love these!
You missed the part where Beth actually broke the 4th wall at the end :o
I like how the thumbnail of a "breakdown" video shows Beth having a breakdown
I think the best choice would've been having Ricklantis be the finale for the season instead
George Mirza no, I think the Morty ending would've been way more obvious if it was.
There was maybe a hint at a Christmas special, especially because they referenced Doctor Who, a show known for it's Christmas specials and then that post credits scene with Mr. PB
The whistle for the ninja kids could be a reference to Dog World, how he uses the dog whistle to make the dogs go crazy.
Might be in the minority here, but I loved the episode. Yeah, it wasn't what I expected for the season finale, but... that's why I love Rick and Morty. Expect the unexpected. Like the Ricklantis Mix Up. Total swerve there, and that episode, imo, is one of the best of the series so far.
reaverofsouls same I really enjoyed it
Are you serious? The general concensus is that people loved the episode. You're online too much. Your opinion is skewed from too many trolls.
I also loved the ending. They do the un expected, and the unexpected was done.
9:44
Just noticed the cubes in the lower left have W and M on them
I loved this finally, the fight scene was engaging and the humor was on point
Nol OfTheQuest me tooo! When Beth hung up the phone and freaked out i actually lol'd
Ah I'm glad you picked up on the lighting the portal with a lighter like a nether portal in minecraft. I was the only one of my friend group that noticed that!
The thermal detonators are a reference to the Smart Grenade in the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Campaign.
The portal thing is probably a reference to the Stargate series as well.
This was a great analysis video.
The janitor with glasses in the passages under the White House is a reference to the janitor with Down's syndrome in the original "The Kingdom" TV series by Lars Von Trier, and the passages under that hospital -- and maybe also from the "Kingdom Hospital BY Stephen King" copied version which I didn't watch.
The thing with the two ninja kids is from spy kids, I think #2 they have copies of kids who can fight on command of a whistle while wearing a similar costume
I think this is the only video review that notice the dead Tupac body. Thank you guys for going the extra mile.
The satellite laser could also be a reference to Akira (remember that laser that destroyed Tetsuo's arm?)
at the end, i realized that rick was my personal favorite character of the series, because i had the same facial expression as he did.
The computer font is similar to the intro credits of the movie WarGames. The block lettering would be appropriate for this with the subject being a situation that escalates that could end humanity.
8:01 i also thought that this portal was a refrence to the dark portal from World of Warcraft
Best.Thumbnail.Ever.
5:00 the satellite reminded me more of 007 Golden Eye or Die Another Day
That's the real Beth. Rick's clone wouldn't love Jerry. Even when he told Beth he could make a clone of her, he specifically left out Jerry when he described what it would do in her place. Plus the robots he made in S3ep2 were probably perfect copies from Rick's perspective.
Great video. I appreciate the breakdown of the little things that went by too quickly for me to notice. Wubba lubba dub dub!!!!!!!
I agree! Rick loosing is a BIG thing. The cliff hanger is how will he reinstate himself in the family in the next season. I do believe there will be 'Bonus' episodes during the off season, though, something like a season 3.5, kind of like non-network channels have gone to splitting their seasons in half (i.e. Major crimes) I like this concept, because I've noticed that during some off seasons I've lost the need to watch a show. Not that that would ever happen with Rick and Morty. LOL
The reference of the guys wearing tej hazard suit is from a book by Michael Crichton I just can't remember the name but it also has a movie it's a very obscure reference
Well put together video; I'd say you get why the finale as it was, and I agree with all your points. The point was an anti-climax because of the simple fact that Rick LOST. All that he set up for his benefit from the season's start was swept away and even if he won't ever admit it; it's his own fault. If he never made the clone offer to Beth her whole breakdown wouldn't have happened, leading to the slow unraveling of his status within the family. Add in that if this Beth IS the clone, then he's still geared for more problems when she comes back. Overall the family's coming together and rejecting his worldviews that he has slowly tried to install/poison them all with. Plus I trust the writers may yet have something planned so I'm fine with this finale not being as heavy as season two's finale.
The 90's green text was referencing Independence Day. The two psycho children were a combination of Thing 1 and Thing 2; Aswell as the Child super spies from Spy Kids.
I thought the ninja kids thing was a reference to the spy kids. There were robotic copies of the US president's son and daughter, who could also do a lot of ninja stuff, and they even sounded very similar
The kids also remind me of the creepy little robot twins from The Dark Knight Returns
force field hamster ball is like a combo of violet and dash from The Incredibles!!
Actually The two children in the Rick and president fight scene might be from The Disney Channel movie Spy kids where the villain created robotic versions of living children. The thing that makes this theory even more likely is the dress code was a white jumpsuit and dog tags with their names on them
I think Wisearce has a video where they discuss Dan Harmon's theory of sit-coms. Basically, everything will return to normal, lessons will be unlearnt and no character development will occur so that next week's episode can kick off again.. Looking at this way it's pretty obvious that Beth and Jerry were going to get back together. Plus the fact that they're both completely co-dependent on each other.
8:00
Damn I noticed that but I thought it be such a leap for them to make that reference
PLEASE I NEED THAT FUNKO POP FOR THE GIVEAWAYYY
The satellite Laser they referenced is probably a nod to S.O.L. From Akira
Did anyone else notice the huge hint of our Morty being Evil Morty? In this episode they referred to the different realities as “time lines” not universe or dimensions like in previous episodes.
The biggest hint however, is how both our Morty and Evil Morty were both able to steal the portal gun without Rick noticing.
So did anyone notice that after Rick went through the portal to the White House at the beginning he takes his martini form the agent he is holding it in his right hand and covering it with his left but when he emerges from the portal he is holding it in his left and covering it with is right hand? Perhaps we saw a different Rick and Morty then we where watching at the start of the episode.
I loved the episode, but to keep on theme, and to have a cliff hanger I would've loved like a minute 30 worth of just Rick being clinically depressed that he fails because this was going so successfully for so long
I can't handle how good Buddy Hutton looks in this video!
Honestly I like the thought as rick being an unstoppable force that always wins. Even at the expense of the other characters losing development.
I think this episode did a really good job highlighting a very telling aspect of Rick's character - that however much of a genius he is, he's terrible at relationships and he doesn't really understand the people close to him as well as he thinks he does.
The entire B-plot pretty methodically proved it. He completely fails to reassure Beth over a crisis that he himself caused by making the clone offer; as a result, she's pushed to turn to Jerry for affirmation, the exact opposite of what Rick wants. Jerry isn't smart, but he's genuine and he isn't afraid to show that he cares about people, and those characteristics allow him to be a much more reassuring man in Beth's life. She realizes this and decides to remarry him, undoing all of Rick's work and inspiring her own children to prioritize a loving family over his antics as well. Morty abandons Rick mid-fight to care for his family, while Rick is too busy starting death-battles over petty issues to notice that his own family is done with his adventuring.
And the entire thing seems to absolutely SHOCK Rick. He's completely baffled. He doesn't seem to understand how he can be responsible for any of this. Rick doesn't comprehend that his family has a drive to care for one another: he can only see the pieces where he benefits, and whenever he doesn't he childishly turns to the argument of "well it doesn't matter, none of you are special, so there!". Honestly, watching him march up to his family only to stop partway, rant about how everyone else is stupid, and then give up, is... really sad. In those moments he's honestly just a sad, raving old man who can't let go of the past and doesn't know how to deal with anyone once he's no longer "in control".
"Big white Santa Claus beard"- Maybe Christmas? (We can hope) =D
I got to do my english project on Rick and Morty. Using evil morty's speech for it
Great video like normal and where do you find these pops I've been to Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Mall and I've never seen a Rick and Morty pop except for your show
Subscribe Nathan! We use the power of the internet.
I wouldn't count Rick's bullet shield as killing the guys, they fired at him and they ricocheted off his shield, that's not Rick's intent to kill them
What song is it in a backgound ?
DAAAAYUMN!! I norma;;y catch and get 85% percent of the obscure refereences in these episodes , but in this one I missed the majority of them because they crammed so many of them. especially the conspiracy film sets. Which is why I coldn't wait to seee this breakdown. Great Episode and great breakdown guys
I think when Rick and Morty take off the VR helmets, it's not referencing the Southpark episode that has Minecraft in it, but probably Grounded Vindaloop about being in a VR world.
The lettering at the bottom of the screen were on Enemy of the State.
Sooo much references in one Episode
I agree on your thoughts in the end
You guys wanna know what I found more interesting about this episode?
DAT THICC T-REX at 2:58!
Tupacs dead body 🤣
the multiple hologram ricks is from Cloudy with the chance of Meatballs 2
The orbital laser was more likely in reference to the cold war program called star wars when the us president literally wanted to put a laser in space to intercept missiles.(a bit ambitious)
The Forcefield hamsterball reminds me of the one Violet created in The Incredebles.
tomwaterwitch Come to think of it, I actually agree with you.
cover some of the comicbooks
The hamster ball Rick is in seems like a reference to Mabel pines of Gravity Falls doing the same thing.
According to a different video, The green transition text is from the “24” show text. Not sure though.
Came back after watching the Season 4 Finale! There’s your answer to that Clone Beth dilemma.
Loved this episode
Your breakdowns are by far the best! Thanks for an awesome season. Can't wait to see what you produce in the meantime
the green letters are a reference to war games
The kids are Tony and Tia from Escape to Witch Mountain, down to the hair and the red tracksuits.
