You guys are one of the better parts of the community. You can appreciate and talk about the show's influences without pretending that understanding the show makes you a super genius, and I appreciate that.
Keep up the good work
Yes lol makes it more relateable
palo in my opinion comprehending ricks thoughts and intelligence to me is simple shit so i think everyones an average idiot
LORD MICKEY that was the point. I was making fun of the people in the community like you, who thinks that just because they get a joke _almost everyone gets_ they think they're the next Einstein. I wasn't complementing the writers for "making it relatable to the common peasant", I was complementing them for not doing what you just did.
palo yeah there's a guy like that in this very comment section(there's probably multiple, but his original comment has a lot of replies)
People think that if they understand this show at all, that they're either a philosophical prodigy or that they're a fucking genius.
Kind of annoying
Ian Krasnow Obviously trolling
"...but there comes a time in every man's life where he must choose the foundation upon which his legacy will be built; One of compromise? Or one of blood?"
*PUTS ON BIRTHDAY HAT*
"Who's got a birthday?"
Excellent scene.
"Did you get any of that?"
Issa good show
Metallic ringing
That was nickelodeon times i remember that from y childhood jajajajajaja i also say "did you get any of that" by the end of every episode
imran saifee ahhh baaah aaah haaaay
you forgot the unintelligible noises before that
I like how they left it open whether or not she left
I think she did leave and let her father replace her with a clone, did you notice how she acted when her kids got home?
It's obvious she did
Patrick Michael One sentence that proves she did
ABC can translate to A Clone of BETH (A Beth Clone if you want it exactly)
It can also translate to "And Beth Cares". That's conspiracy theory logic.
Good point, partially from someone else: There are infinite Beths and half of them chose to be replaced. Sure, we're mostly following the C-137 Beth, but there's a Beth just like her who will have chosen differently. Maybe they'll even lampshade that fact. Hell, maybe he didn't clone her, but instead brought a Beth from another dimension, because f'''' all that work of programming out that rebelliousness and Blade Runner aspirations.

Actually, Bad Comment. Assumedly Batshit Crazy. Acheivable, But Consider:

Aptly, Beth Calms
In the finale:
Beth: Rick, am I a clone?
Rick: No, of course not.
Beth: Then why don't I remember choosing to stay?
Rick: Of course you chose to stay.
Beth: How can I trust you?
Rick: Look, the fact that you are questioning yourself means you're not a clone. Clones don't require self examination.
Beth: Well, I guess that makes sense. Whew, for a second there, I was really worried.
[Portal appears and the real Beth steps out]
Beth: Oh sh-
Brandy Raccoon zero chances of becoming blade runner remember?
Nandhita Narendratmaja he says this but he barely kept robot morty form running in a stream.
Yes, when the real Beth returns, Rick flips a switch and the clone's existence is cut short. Imagine realizing this and living under a sword of Damocles that could end your life suddenly, at any time.
Well, don't forget, Rick has access to a memory removal device. So, assuming Rick knows about this, he'd be able to take steps.
And that's assuming he doesn't have some way of preventing Clone Beth from being able to learn of her clone existence.
All the same, I'm looking forward to a post-credits sequence where we see a cloned Beth in some sort of fashion. It feels like the kind of thing they might drop at random some point later in the series.
Called it!
Is it just me or every new episode is his favorite episode?
One probably has to play up being positive and in love with a show to avoid certain people from jumping at your throat for not liking something as much as they do.
Dhimis 69 likes
I wasn't a fan of Morty's mind blowers, but yea we've been on a pretty good streak with the cinadel episode, the Rick & Jerry episode, the rest & ricklaxation episode.
Dhimis I mean rick and morty is an awesome series how can it all not be your favorite?
Dhimis Listen to the podcast. He says this is the best in the season yet.
It would have been really cool if Jerry stayed as a telepath, even after breaking up with his space girlfriend.
But Jerry's gotta be Jerry, I guess ?
Aaumond Yeah. I'd like to see some character growth from him too.
He's not banging the alien chick anymore, so he lost his powers(the powers comes from banging the alien chick)
Jerry is a coward, but who can blame him? The universe is full of things that would quickly spell death for anyone who isn't Rick, and Jerry often finds himself dealing with those things due to his proximity to Rick. By the way the Huntress reacted when he was forced to be upfront with her, well... If he had tried to break up with her "the right way" the first time, they would have found bits of him splashed around the apartment on the next custody day. As it was, his life and the life of his kids was only saved by a deus ex machina.
All that said, solving the problem by throwing your own children to the wolves is unforgivably craven.
it important to note jerry is not only a coward ..he is also an uncreative moron.. he doesnt have the fourth sight to see how his bad action will get worst..
he use his children as away to get off his relationship because he doesn't expect his girlfriend to go psycho.. to be truly evil would be to know what its coming and not care
Also he basically chose a copy of Beth as his girlfriend. A strong, somewhat dominant character who also looks like he sees Beth. Just compare the huntress to the "Beth" that was created in their therapy.
Saying the kids are the fault for their relationship not working out might be his standard thought when he thinks about Beth.
Sartre looks like a rick and morty character
A character who can see 360 degrees around himself.
Can’t believe next episode is the season finale, it has all gone so fast! 😭
Wtf it’s been like 10 episodes so now we have to wait another year
What ?!?!?! shouldn't a season have 12 episodes ???? please tell me that's not true !!!
Member when TV series had 20-22 episodes?

Member when tv series had a shit ton of filler episodes that felt like a waste of time? Oh wait...that was The Walking Dead. I like the new model of quality over quantity. Just wish there were more of those quality episodes too.
How is it even possible Tommy can procreate using the Froopy-creatures? Alright, I can understand with the humanoid creatures, but I highly doubt it is possible to naturally hydridise a human with an avian.
Well Rick does say that they have "imaginary DNA", though he doesn't elaborate on what that means. Not to mention they're all artificial constructs of Rick's own design. So scientifically there really isn't any precedence to go off of for their hybridization. I mean, froopy creatures give birth within mere seconds of mating and it's even strange that Rick even gave the creatures the ability to procreate in the first place. We also never get any clear genders, if Tommy can mate with all of them are they all female? It very well might have nothing to do with traditional sexual reproduction. The clouds are procedurally generated which falls more in line with computers. Rick knows about Cygerian virtual reality which relies on nanobots. Froopyland isn't a computer-based virtual reality, but maybe there's an element of nanotechnology that could allow for it. Basically, nothing in Froopyland is natural so there are quite a few ways it could potentially happen. I personally go with biosynthetic nanotechnology rendering gone haywire with the introduction of foreign agents (Tommy's splooge).
Her clone wouldn't go "Blade Runner" huh? You mean like Sentient Robot Morty?
I AM ALIVE!
Technically, he only briefly did so. The override did ultimately work.
I would say "Oh but how does an identical clone have an override?" but I'm guessing Rick would just brainwash the clone or "turn it off".
Mitch Kettles if you can make a clone with its own memories there is no chance it will go crazy because unless it sees the original the clone will think it's the original. An ai mimics someone and can be aware that is not real, that or rick just rushed some ghetto androids
he learns from his mistakes
Why did the police think that Tommy's dad ate him?
I like to think he ate a bunch of people but they could only catch him for Tommy and now they will be a father-son cannibal gang.
The answer is, don't think about it
athroughzdude Tommy was missing all those years, might have found some "evidence" the his father are him and that's why he disappeared
probably the mom, when a child disappears people look for someone to blame without and external menace the normal answer is that it is the parents fault and under that stress one parent breaks down and blames the other
athroughzdude The father was a known cannibal
I have an issue with the ultimatum placed in front of Beth. While we thematically are shown the freedom of choice through Rick's ultimatum and the examples given earlier in the season. This ultimatum lacks the consequences of choice and provides a clear-cut optimal choice. I would argue this undermines the point. While, choice is a determinant of identity (at least in the argument given), it lacks its deterministic power without naturalistic consequences. Hence, why decision making is so universally valued. This was done to provide Beth with a simple choice between "stable home life" or "reaching your full potential." However, this means that if Beth ran off to become the manic intellectual she always was destined to be, then the destabilizing consequence of leaving her family wouldn't happen because Rick gave her an identical clone. Moreover, any traumatic event that would occur from the clone's attachment to the family, its own conciseness, or the original Beth’s return will be removed by design. She literally loses nothing leaving her family. My point is that the ultimatum provided allows Beth an ideal freedom of choice to choose her identity, which undercuts the very nature of choosing an identity. Choice only matters when the dice are in play.
There is one trade off. She won't have the clone's memories, so she won't see her children finish growing up. She won't get that time the clone spent with the kids back. The episode before this one just covered the consequences of memory manipulation, and even raised the question: are you still the same person with or without your memories? Will Beth still be the same person if she doesn't remember raising her own kids?
Or, perhaps the greatest question, will her children forgive her if they ever find out?
Im standing my statement that kiara is a spoof of liara from mass effect
I'm calling it now; season 4, we'll see the debut of the Tribunal of Beths... possibly to try and deal with the Council that Evil Morty's taken over.
"This episode is one of my favorites"
Just admit it, this show is consistently gold. You don't need to specify.
STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
Capital J Did you watch the episode?
This just raises even more questions like what are you doing here for example...no wait it only raises that one question.
Owned it..
Pickle Rick owned it
The episode just reminded me that I'm a piece of shit like my father...but I choose to go about things differently from this point forward... I can't just keep escaping from myself by numbing my feelings...I have to get over it and keep on keeping on.
Every Rick and Morty episode is your favorite episode heh
Hakon hey it's been a long day you should go to bed🐱🐱🐱🌙🌙🌃🔪🔪🛌
"one of"
they shit on quite a few of the episodes on the podcast
If Rick had cloned himself when he left, I wonder how Beth would have turned out
Probably even worse
I don't think he left. I think he pretended to be flyfishin Rick using Jerry's hat so that he wouldn't have to worry about the government harassing him as he stayed.
Who else thinks that Jared looks like Tommy ?🤔
tommy who
vig m Tommy from Rick and Morty's recent episode..
Kinda
oh right - young craster
Tommy got bored so he started to hump things
Love, love, love wisecrack, love the podcasts. love all the deep thoughts and critical analysis of my favorite shows and movies. Thanks Jared! Always staying tuned!
Both the content and presentation of this show define exellence. The sound quality and clip editing set the standard for review vlogs. Even if I caught every nuance in a Rick and Morty episode, Wisecrack's ability to articulate every idea far surpasses my own. Superb.
Please do a breakdown of Bojack Horseman season 4!!!
3:47 UGHHHH! NO I'M IN FRONT OF YOU JUST TURN AROUND!
One of my favorites videos on rick and morty so far, great job guys!
I really like these quick take videos. Keep up the good work
In the end... He does put elbow grease into his daughter~
Gross
Tuna Damn it you beat me to it!
If beth stops drinking in scenes then That's a clone, and beth left.
INCOOM13 Or maybe she wouldn't need to depend on alcohol anymore since she's found herself and is finally able to calm down.
exact copy with no differences = still an alcoholic
That's silly. Alcoholics go to meetings.
Kee p up the good work. Out of all the channels taking advantage of Rick n Morty you guys do the best
So many channels cover shows without actually contributing any insight. I'm glad that this channel identifies aspects thematic connections and relevant branches of philosophy to give people more to think about and enjoy while watching these episodes.
Anybody ever wonder if Roiland and Harmon put even half the thought into writing these episodes as Jared does breaking them down? Or do they and their writers just consistently fall ass-backwards into brilliance, depth, and philosophical paradigms by complete chance? Lol.
From listening to them talk, I think they're deliberately putting all these themes into the show.
Although, it would be great if it turned out that it was all just a happy accident.
TFW you realize Wisecrack R&M vids are glorified ads for their podcast
When Wisecrack uploads a Rick and Morty video, I cry with joy.
Best use of a philosophy major ever! Good work Jarred.
Why did you skip Morty's Mind Blowers?
+WarDevilish we didn't have much to say
Fair enough, was wondering where the video was for it.
+Wisecrack Could you explore re-incarnations(memory erase); effortful/accidental enlightenment(realisation) followed by urge for liberation(from cyclical existence)
Kaushik Kumar what makes you, you? How much of your body and memories could be changed before you become someone else?
Timmy doesnt matter, he didn't choose, he fell.
5:50 "We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us."
These have been really enjoyable.
Look up Shrodinger's Cat, Copenhagen's interpretation of decoherence, Many World's Interpretation, and Quantum Suicide.
Choice creates universes. Beth having a choice means she chooses both. Randomly visiting a universe with a portal gun means Beth visits ALL of them, creating an infinite amount of adventuring Beths.
Lester Jester not all of them since the fact of making a portal is a choice therefore it literally doubles the multiverse's universes
Mathor Sionur that's what I said. Opening a random portal means a version of her visits every universe.
Lester Jester not every universe: exactly 50% since there will always be universes she won't have travelled to.
Mathor Sionur what're you talking about?
Lester Jester infinite universes therefor there are some universes in wich no beth will ever travel
Rick and Morty Forever and Ever
Fall Matic ohh 100 years!
I like how every episode of this show begins with it being one of your favorites.
The different shapes your fluffy hair takes is the most amusing part of this videos ❤️
Abc-a beth clone
"ABC" 's the bachelor
Holy shit nice one man
So the ABCs of Beth means a Beth clone of Beth? Seems a little overkill right?
King Bouncer
no. No it doesn't.
could be "a bitch clone of beth"
but it isnt hes Beth, he abandoned his real daughter on planet where he turned people in to monsters
that was almost certainly not the first time he abandoned a universe there are many clues that show that
Good point, but I agree with marlonyo. He's probably not even the Rick of the Cronenberg flu earth.
IVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK!!
This show never cease to amuse me.
What animator are you using for Fleshy Jared?
I would love to watch that rick and morty podcast but fuck paying for it
You dont need to pay to listen to podcasts. They are all free
Love the podcasts!
I love your videos man!
Will you do Rick and Morty 3x 08??
Or just in The Squanch?
why does he say "sart" insted of Sartre?
Everyone go check out their Podcast! I've been listening to their Rick and Morty and South Park podcast on repeat. You will not regret it. To wisecrack. Thank you for your content
They shoild listen to the 'My Dad wrote a porno' podcast instead: soundcloud.com/my-dad-wrote-a-porno
Did you get paid to say that
Listened to most of their podcasts, and i think its a bit repetetive, like 60% of youtube matches the podcast.
Thanks for this. Listened to all of them. amazing!
So bummed out this season is nearly over, it's been excellent!
My favorites episodes so far have been 'the whirly durly conspiracy' and the the 'ricklantis mixup'. this show never fails to amaze. :)
The music you guys use for these quick takes is really growing on me. I can't find it anywhere though.
I want pickle Beth.
I'M PICKLE BEEEETH!
let the meme die
Now it's dead.
yeah, it was funny during the promos
Jo King are you sure you dont want to "pickle" Beth...
I'll go in the corner😞
whatever you say stone cold Steve Austin
I love all the Rick and Morty videos you doooo
I listened the two podcasts you were in and now I'm watching this. I guess that's why your name is wiseCRACK
Why did Summer call Jerry sexist? What did he do that was sexist?
I have no idea
Pickle Rick is a forced meme
Elias Rudsar very forced.kids won't stop typing it
It wasn't supposed to meme in the first place
Definitely top three episodes material of the season. It helped with a recent problem this year. Season three was a little slow (after the first episode), but I'm happy I watched this episode and connect with this moment of drama. And thank you Wisecrack for this analysis. Very interesting.
Was super looking forward to this for some odd reason
wubalubadubdub
lol wtf y'all are doing here? I fucking love your channel btw. Best history channel on YT.
Rick and Morty is a good way to deal with the existential void that 11 Battles of the Isonzo River have left.
Two fantastic channels in one place??!?!
You should change your intro tune to Flanders and Swann's ditty: 'The war of 14-18'. It is much jauntier than the one you have.
Top 10 Anime Crossovers
BTW I want Wisecrack to do a video on the philosophy of Conrad von Hötzendorf
No one is special, everyone is gonna die. I get the point of the show that it's telling you just to enjoy it and don't think about it, but it's the same message over and over and with the Beth episode I'm kind of getting off that way of thinking.
shows going over your head.
This show isn't smart enough to go over anyone's head.
I don't think the show is really trying to push a point except in a very tangential way. The people in it are not necessarily doing what is right from most perspectives.
Alec Hofmeister I wouldn’t say it’s smart to go over anyone who actually understands the concepts, I’ve seen some point go over quite a few people’s head.
Alec Hofmeister But it is.
Just wanted to say that I love your quick takes and your podcast "The Squanch". Keep up he awesome work! Can't wait for the South Park podcast 😀
Also, did anyone notice that when Beth looks at the fridge pictures, there is one of Rick and Mr. Poopybutthole? Was this episode, then, even following our Rick?
Love you're guys podcast, I wait every episode so u can listen to all 3 of you give an opinion
Beth definitely left.
So great work on this vid, but I have a question for the rick and morty crowd in general. Am I the only one that feels that Rick's characterization has gone to shit lately? I mean in the episode about Unity, we got this picture of a truly broken and struggling man, who is ultimately alone. This sets up beautifully for some form of growth in the character: maybe he's not alone, maybe he decides that being alone can still be fulfilling. But I feel like this season never really addresses that, we're somewhat left with a Rick that is just stagnant. That might be the point, but I feel like the series could grind to a halt around that fact.
Ethan Rummel Actually if you look closely, there seem the be a handful of characters who get an arc each season. Rick got his last season
Not to be a bit obstinate, but shouldn't all character arcs carry throughout a whole series? Individual episodes can focus more on one character or another, but leaving a whole arc just hanging there is a bit of a let down.
Ethan Rummel I think it's done intentionally. The show subverts any and all ideas that Rick is a growing human being, something they do a really good job of talking about on the podcast. Ricks character isn't supposed to grow, but rather be a sort of "stand in" or spectator for other people's growth. He's someone who's intelligence is portrayed in such a grandiose way that he blatantly recognizes that he's on a tv show, and while I don't think that means that we're supposed to believe that he is aware all the time. I think the show is frankly much too dark to ever seriously toy with the idea of letting Rick grow.
Ethan Rummel the show is going. Just be patient
Ethan Rummel that's a fair a point, but pay attention to Morty this whole season. He's becoming more and more confident.
3:45 no wonder he was a philosopher, mf was lookin at the past and future at the same time.
That last "not time travel" moment is literally golden. It was like they read my mind.
i cant stop staring at his huge left nostril
Goddamit now you got me doing it too...
NinjaSlime Gaming well played
God fucking damnit you just blew my mind, now this video is unwatchable...
YOU JUST RUINED WISECRACK FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!
How does one actually make a choice?
I heard on the internet that there is a parasite that breeds inside a cats digestive system and if that parasite is in your brain, you're drawn towards cats, regardless off any choices you make.
When a doctor taps your knees, the uncontrollable reflex your legs make are a sign of good health, of all systems working correctly. When you're really low on sugar, you'll always crave a sugary snack more and you can say you freely chose to open the fridge, but did you? If every effect is only based on the causes for that effect. Do you chose something because of your resolve or your will to follow your dreams? Or is any choice you make merely the result of the cause that proceeded the choice?
allen crown
Yup, my thoughts exactly. There is no reason for free will existing. I would like wisecrack to question satre‘s theory.
HARDCOREMANEX They made a choice to be depressed yet it was pre-determined. Gotcha.
The world has meaning. Your choices have meaning which wire your biology to react to certain stimuli. People are probably adopting the philosophy of nihilism/lack-of-free-will for a number of reason like: 1. morally convenient to not be accountable for your actions. 2. Instead of doing productive things like helping others, they have defined their lives by endless consumption from stimuli to stimuli. And in a world where the mainstream is typically profit-driven monopolistic amplified regurgitated crap, no wonder.
JFairy re-read
TinkeringEngr
I think what many people aren’t seeing is that the free will-debate isn’t part of philosophy anymore. It’s a part of science. All scientific discoveries about the nature of the universe point to an unending and unchangeable chain of causality, because time is a dimension of its own. The task of philosophy nowadays is to build upon these discoveries and develop new moral codes which take the lack of free will into account.
Jared, your hair is just... mesmerizing. I get so captivated by its wondrous waving that I cannot concentrate on what you're saying. True story.
I appreciate seeing fleshy Jared. Saw you guys on FBE yesterday
Did you just tell me it doesn't matter that Beth abandoned her children? Choice or not, doing so is going to have major repercussions for her character.
It probably does matter, but the actual consequences of her abandoning Summer and Morty will only become apparent in Season 4.
I think the only repercussion would be whether or not she accepts Rick's nihilistic worldview or not.
That's the thing about choices. They always have consequences.
vetren23
Pretty sure she already has. That's why Rick offers her the choice at all.
Kazuma - kun nah, the confrontation with her complete radical freedom allows her to choose between accepting traditional maternal values or denying them and going the way of her nihilistic father.
I dont like the fact that they leave Beth out of everything and now all of a sudden it's like "oh Beth you're a genius too, and you're fucking insane and you were insane as a child too" it just seens like they threw it in last minute to give her more Character because before this she was a shitty person and an ok mother who would do anything for rick not to leave them again and now she's actually complex.
Well yes she was more underdeveloped in the past and now they are focusing more on that aspect of her, but it's not like it came out of nowhere. Rick never said that she was a genius only that she was smart. Beth is smart enough to be a competent surgeon even under extreme pressure. Yes these examples are horses and deer, but in a reality where she didn't marry Jerry it was shown that she could become a fully fledged people surgeon as well. So there's clearly intelligence there. Also, it was never said that she was "insane" only "sociopathic", there is a difference there. We've never seen her really socialize outside of the family and she doesn't really socialize all that well with them. Think about how Jerry described how she raised Summer in "Raising Gazorpazorp" or her disregard for Morty in "Morty's Mindblowers". It's subtle, but I've always believed she teetered the line of sociopathy, now there's confirmation. Not to mention it was shown that she has no problem killing in the past. Look at the slaughter in "Total Rickall". That episode showed that anyone carrying Rick's DNA seems to have a knack for killing. It might have been a little much, but really not by a lot and not at the last minute. There have been hints with what they wanted her to become eventually.
Prince of Leaves was going to say the same thing. Seems everyone can’t read between the lines with minor characters
sandywolfr26 I feel Rick meant she is smart because she shows signs that she can be as unrestricted and self centered as him. I did feel sudden, though.
Actually, Beth shows PSYCHOPATHIC tendencies, not SOCIOPATHIC. Psychopaths are more violent, and don't feel any remorse, whereas sociopaths are more psychological. It is quite an interesting topic.
Dang! Even after watching the show it still manage to BLOW my MIND!
Well, another theme that has been going on throughout the series is that there is no good and evil. Usually using rick to personafy this. I think what this season is doing is showing that nobody in the family is either good or evil.
To quote my father "it is what it is".
W. C.
Who's your father?
Then again, there is the point that Rick needs to believe that evil is just a social construct. If evil doesn't exist then nothing he does can be considered evil.
Nothing he does can be considered good either. In a multiverse where anyone can be replaced and even if you screw up the entire world you can just hop to another good and evil are merely shades of grey.
I'm pretty sure that Vindicator guy was right when he said "I have a feeling he needs that to be the case".
Biggest mistake fans of the show make is believe whatever Rick says is always the absolute truth.
That's not what "it is what it is" means. Saying morality is subjective (the point of these things in R&M) can be destructive to people, its good for phrasing arguments or testing boundaries but bad for everyday living.
Now, a good use for that phrase "it is what it is" is in reply to R&M spawning tons of kids who think good/bad don't exist when real evil exists in the world in very mundane ways.
I really didn't like this episode, idk it just doesn't work for me.
just want to say wisecrack cant think of anything impressive to say.love your work.
As a lover of philosofy and especially the existentialism of Sartre and Camus i love your analysations
Lol
How is it no one is critiquing this episode for the ham-fisted, out-of-left field backstory for Beth? Seriously?! There was no organic development for this character arc; all we've seen from Beth is someone with severe abandonment issues, but also is the cornerstone of the household. She's been the one counseling responsibility and acting most human. In the episode with Mr. Poopybutthole, the after credits scene has her mentally and emotionally destroyed for misjudging and falling on alcohol to numb the pain of her action. These aren't the actions and aren't the mindset of a psychopath.
Beth really hasn't even shown herself to be that brilliant in the show. Sure, she's a surgeon which obviously takes brains, but not brilliance. Morty talks down to her just a few episodes before when Beth can't even think rationally on how to deal with giant Summer. When viewing alternate realities in season 1, she doesn't see herself going on murder sprees or gallivanting through the universe like Rick, she see's herself as a human surgeon.
Instead of comparing this episode to pickle-Rick, compare it to the Jerry episode. "Dumb" Jerry has been done to death and it's well established, but that episode took the common trope and added dimensions to it; Jerry is a predator, using his pathetic nature to entrap people. It reinterprets what we've seen in a new, interesting light. Then we have this Beth episode where not-that-brilliant Beth and certainly not evil Beth is clumsily and suddenly shown to be evil, and the audience still is only told she's brilliant. Sure we have a few episodes strictly from season 3 (hoof art, the psychiatrist, and out-of-touch mom with Giant Summer), but these are late additions that feel incredibly clumsy as well.
@Wisecrack, I love you guys and your channel is my favorite, but please, please don't just sweep sub-par writing under the rug just because an episode flashes a really shiny, cool sentient switchblade.
John Gardner agreed, rick saying shes psychopathic and him only hiding her as a child to not let her wreck havoc in the town felt super forced because it all came outta nowhere
@John Gardner You really have a point. I always felt that Beth was just a person who was thrown into the circumstances of a family and she took responsibility for it, trying her hardest to maintain it - even though it didn't always work in a healthy manner.
JinJinDoe I feel bad for her.
Your bouncy hair is distracting good sir. Thank you for keeping the 90's alive. I love you
I really enjoy watching your videos @Wisecrack :)
The topics you tackle with each episode are almost addictingly fascinating;
But I still have a minor critic, and that would be the constant movement of Jared's head when he talks; It's really disturbing :p
Keep it up
Guess what she has 2 of ;)
Finn Byrne Choices.
Episodes where she is in the A plot
miller repin Which is the other one?
Pussies
ThatQuiet GUY I don't think you got the reference. Either that or we have very different taste in humour
Like Jared, I really liked this episode but everywhere I go I see people saying it's the worst episode ever. It feels like if there isn't a shit ton of action or plot twist people won't like the episode.
i personally didn't like it because the dialogues felt forced, as well as the humor...but to each its own
When people say they don’t like an episode, a lot of the time it’s because it doesn’t contain massive amounts of action or quick humor. The little kids who joined the show after season two ended seem to not enjoy deep thought, just toilet humor that makes for a quick laugh.
kristoff I personally thought this was one of the best episodes ever. Beth finally gets a bit of backstory, and it's fucking cool to see how Rick-like she is. I have hopes that maybe she chose the clone deal. And then after Rick & Morty ends/gets cancelled, they can do a spin-off show with Beth travelling the multiverse.
Gary TheSnail You echo my sentiments. I like these different episodes and the development of characters besides Rick and Morty.
It's because a large part of the fanbase just wants to see Rick torture Morty more with crazy adventures and for their to be focus exclusicely on plot and not on character development.
I just saw wisecrack also put out ThugNotes video and I just subscribed. 👍👍👍
Great stuff! I love Rick and Beth episodes, these are the kinds of pairings you don’t get to see much on television outside of several decades of the Simpsons and a few Meg episodes on family guy. They’re fun because Beth plays it so straight, she’s the least flawed and besides this episode the most responsible, maybe it’s happening because Morty asserts himself more and the divorce seems to have taken over his attention from his abusive grandfather, which tends to happen, it’s like forgetting you have a cold and then it goes away.
I will never respect a woman who kills a beloved character like Mr. Poopybutthole.
ennui.tv She didn't kill him.
Should have stopped with "I will never respect a woman". Accuracy is important
Nirbhay Sharma agreed sir
Why would she kill a long time family friend, and the audience's favourite since the beginning?
She shot him no kill
OH MY GOSH STOP MAKING ME QUESTIONING EVERYTHING
Mr. Kizer face your fears
Got here fairly early. Good stuff on this video. ^^
Thank you for this great videos about 3rd season!
Just a question: are you thinking about doing an analysis of BoJack Horseman season 4?
And I'm just here weirded out by Jean-Paul Sarte's eyes....
He must've had insane peripheral vision.
stop pronouncing sartre like that
I think Rick's speech to Beth draws on Camus quite a bit as well. "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so totally free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." When you do what you want, you're rebelling against the universe's desire for you to conform, so it must "buck" you.
love the video; you should do this with south park and bojack too
