The Ricklantis Mixup is quite possibly this season's most unique episode. By constructing a highly detailed social environment in the Citadel of Ricks, Rick and Morty asks questions about the nature of hope, change, and revolution in a way that reflects our current political climate.

They told us we were special and then they stripped us of everything that made us unique.
So, school system?
makes sense
If all kids are special why aren't all adults special? Because it's fucking bullshit. We're unique, and not even that, really. Few are original, if any.
My dad told me to go back to school and I asked him, "why, cause school will make me smart?" And he replied "yes" but I did a five tabs of acid and started to understand quantum mechanics to a certain extent with out having to do research

You could argue that whoever's linked up to the Simple Rick's machine is actually the happiest Rick in the multiverse.
ignorance is bliss
What a jerry
But his life is a lie.
Which is another plot of the show: you can live as a blinded and content Jerry, you can live as realistic and depressed Rick.
Yeah
Eben A. Rather be a Jerry
The part where the Rick who wasted his life gets shot right as he achieves true happiness kinda reminded me of the end of 1984.
Interesting, I immediately thought of Brazil when I saw this the first time around
Crissy Noel oh my god I'm glad I wasn't the only one
Freedom is slavery
Crissy Noel that's what I was thinking too. Mainly because we finished reading 1984 in my class a while ago
Crissy Noel it kinda reminded me of Brave New World, in which the old world is killed by the pressures of the New World
This episode was a work of genius. The fans all thought they were abandoning the B-plot formula and they advertised it like another filler episode, only to not show a single scene of their adventure and focus ENTIRELY on plot development. After the genius April Fools S3E1 airing and the hype of the Worldender, this is the BEST season so far. I love it when Dan and Justin just fuck with everyone.
I totally agree. The show has balls that South Park used to have. It masks social commentary and philosophical questions so awesomely that everyone knows what it is about without the show spelling it out. Sure it can cause misinterpretations, but that could be seen as richness of the art of storytelling as people are forced to think more.
crimsonnin2 Even the name of the episode is all about what we didn't see at all. It would be like calling the previews episode The Morty of Rickstreet.
Ounouh Did you miss Seasons 19 and 20? Those are the most relevant and bold mockery of modern culture I've ever seen. South Park is great in it's own right. There really is no comparison between the shows. Now, if you want to debate Futurama vs Rick and Morty, that is at least a similar genre of cartoon.
I disagree, I think South Park has just as much balls as they ever did, but simply project it more subtly.
They haven't shown us a normal adventure all season.

Definitely my favorite
My favorite thing about this episode is that it is just Justin Roiland alone in a sound booth voicing the episode.
Michael Thomas and the simple Rick narrator guy from the big Lebowski
No, the simple rick narrator is Jeff Davis. He's doing an impression of Sam Elliot.
I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to act an entire episode where you voice every character. Hats off
So you're saying that Justin voiced child Beth too? I don't think so.

Actually, what makes the Citadel sad is how you have Rick supposedly the “smartest man” who can build a robot to pass butter but somehow needs a Citadel full of Ricks needs assembly workers. Doesn’t anyone else find that suspicious?
StarDragon77 ever play bioshock? capitalist society needs a large lower class to function. literally someone needs to be fry cook or the plumber or the whole system collapses
Valid point @StarDragon77, hadnt thought of that 👌
DudeistBelieve that may be but this is Rick Sanchez. The man can do practically anything. So why does he need versions of himself to be workers instead of building robots? That’s the point I was making.
StarDragon77 the Ricks in power are lazy and it’s easier to make other Ricks do the work instead of making machines to do the work
StarDragon77 It’s a way for the Ricks in power to keep their peers down and prevent them from taking the power and wealth they have.

Simple Rick's life is horrifying. If he is indeed a Rick who never left his Beth, it's possible he's not in the Citadel out of his own choice. Maybe he was abducted. It's possible even when Rick chooses to stay with Beth, he's fated to always leave her.
Hakuraita wow
There's no fate, everything is happening always and forever, even the perceived-illusion of order. Shatter the grand illusion with simple Ricks.
If he's anything like Doofus Rick then he never had a daughter or a Morty but yeah there's no way he got to the citadel on his own
Edit: wait, I got Simple and Slow Rick mixed up, yes Simple Rick was probably abducted but if you look at him, he looks very much like the Rick from C137's supposedly made up flashback
Rabid Adder That means rick was the one who blew up beth and his wife 😧😮
Damn...
Acta Non Verba = Actions Not Words
Nyar my bad probably autocorrect, thanks.
GoyoLives that's was my schools slogan... Evil morty confirmed
Simple Rick was kidnapped from Beth at a young age... hence "abandoning her". I bet the citadel forced many Ricks to join when Beth was very young, hence the "abandoned" Beth that stems across two different parallel universes
Brings to mind Alice Angel's line to Henry, "You're either putting someone in your pocket, or someone's putting you in theirs.
This is by far the best episode of Rick and Morty (so far) and honestly one of the best episodes of a 20 minute series of all time.
"Yes slow Ri-tall Morty"
"Did I gragitate this time yet?"
"Anything's possible tall Morty"
lmfao
All Ricks have the same IQ though
Johnny Stevens not all ricks.
Johnny Stevens
Infinity realities, infinity possiblities. The thing is don't think about it
Johnny Stevens are you forgetting simple rick and tall morty
I think the simple rick wafers thing is more about how many people in our society would rather consume a manufactured product that reminds us of the 'simple, good life' rather than experience it for themselves.
the thing about wise crack is everything=nihilism it's their go to. I thought it was more showing rick (rather then society) self destructiveness.
I think even the name is a play on words! 'Simple' Rick's could be construed as SLOW Ricks! Like saying 'eat our cookies you half wits'! (Like the condescending restaurant owner of Little Bites!)
john smith
I still think it represents nihilism. I mean, it doesn't show a critique or anything of living a 'real' happy life vs. a 'manufactured' happy life. Also, it's Wisecrack's MO because it's Rick and Morty's MO. You should look out for those times that Justin Roiland talks about his philosophy, it's all existential nihilism.
Hey Kyle (I don't know how to tag i'm an old lady) if you watch other wisecrack videos (philosophy of...incredible s,philosophy of....or those alien review ones) they are literally all about how great nihilism is if you can find one video that shows a different philosophy in a positivie way (stoics or romanticism or whatever) please link it but honestly I have never seen them do anything else but jack niezche off. I am not a philosopher so I can't comment on nihilism. I read beyond good and evil and it seemed to be just bagging out other philosophy's and out dated (the stuff he says about science for instance). But I am sure it's evolved from there. It certainly criticises rick's "the world is meaningless there is no good and evil" attitude and jerry is definitely what niezche hated about the modern man morty criticises both and seems to be the creators mouthpiece. Honestly nihilists seem to hate modern life but they never other an alternative and don't want to escape the comforts of it either. The fact that they don't atleast admit that they are just as much a modern man as I am makes them hypocrites. Atleast other philosophies had a solution rather then just shitting on everything.
Also sorry for the essay. I read yours if you read mine ;)
5:27 : "we captured that moment, we run it on a loop for simple Rick's mind" etc.
That's not the only thing they captured. They say, right here, that it is simple Rick here, sitting in this chair.
Which means they abducted, against his will in all probability, the only kind of Rick able to be happy and make Beth happy.
To manufacture that fake happyness, thay had to destroy the real one. That poor Beth had a loving father, and now he's gone.
Léo VK doesn’t matter. There’s an infinite number of other realities in which that type of Rick existed and wasn’t abducted.
It could be that that is the reason why Rick wasn’t there for Beth for most of her life - he was abducted.
@@vibaj16 Or maybe there's an infinity of citadels, each trying to capture their "happy father Rick". Given the abysmal rate there seems to be between "dickhead Ricks" and "happy Ricks", I'm not even sure there are enough for each potential citadel.

Best episode of an already fantastic season
We get it Jesus fuck you guys have literally repeated this statement more times than i can count.
Aaron Horrell pickle Rick up there also
Don't count it then... Just relax and have a Simple Rick wafer!
Yea I've notice that. These people repeat stuff so much that it loses its meaning.
My brain subconsciously counts it.
I wonder if the "impossible flavour of your own completion" line is actually the show saying something specifically about Rick's psychology. Science is an endeavour that is effectively endless and therefore, from an individual perspective, sort of pointless by design. Rick's depression is likely based on the fact that his own exploration of science showed him truths about the multiverse that made it impossible for him to give his own life meaning. It's sort of a pandoras box situation where he has been granted god like power but at the cost of not it meaning anything to him. Becoming better at science, getting wrecked and going on reckless adventures are his coping mechanisms but they never get him what he really wants, which is the simply a sense of satisfaction. Enter Simple Rick's.
William Billington I completely understand what you mean. But let me add on to that thought.
Remember what the therapist said in Pickle Rick? Rick uses his intelligence to justify his actions throughout the entire series a.k.a. his sickness. Because of his godlike intelligence and the truth that nothing in his life can actually give him meaning or completion, he drinks and goes on ridiculous adventures. And that's where Simple Rick Wafers come in, they're a way of nullifying that sickness in all Ricks even for a brief moment and as we saw in the previous episode, "Rest and Ricklaxation," we see a very different man when that sickness is removed. He is still the same guy with Godlike intelligence but his actions are more mundane and moralized than that of the Rick we now. And Roiland and Harmon shows that in the willingness of Ricks to do menial jobs instead of what they're godlike intelligence actually causes them to do. Factory worker Rick says it best, " they told us we were special because we were Ricks." It gives the viewer a sense that these tamed and lackadaisical Ricks aren't the true versions of themselves.
Don't know if it makes sense to people but it made sense in my head.
Stefan Alston actually it makes perfect sense and honestly I would actually like to see a full episode of a random Rick who lives a normal life like doofus Rick probably does.
I feel so lost, so does this mean toxic Rick is able to be part of the system in a better way than the other working class Ricks?
Stefan Alston "in the willingness of Ricks to do menial jobs instead of what their godlike intelligence causes them to do"... so they don't live up to their full potential because they accept simplicity? Or because their intelligence is misused and not used to be godly and like toxic Rick, try to make the world better and joining the system in spite of it?? I'm really hoping you respond because I'm really interested
Benny Tadeo my friend I'm pretty sure it's the second reason.
Anyone notice the House of Cards kind of reference where the press morty shoots evil morty, but evil morty survives and everyone thinks he's just a terrorist?
Yes, but what I don't get is why Lucas went nuts.
I mean, the frustration is hard and everything, but couldn't he make a better plan?
It's pretty much obvious that crowd murder attempts don't succed most of the time, and Frank doesn't exactly walks around with a lot of protection.
Wasn't it easier and smarter to just arrange a meeting in a parking lot and set a bomb?
Or shoot him with a rifle from a nearby rooftop? There are hunters who set up rifle traps along known paths of their prey that can be triggered remotely. Or hey, why not a drone nail bomb combo? People are creative creatures when they want something bad enough, and killing political figures in a country where they feel relatively safe should be pretty easy.
See if the press Morty did this, I would prepare a duel for the coward, the Loser would be stoned, both would be in prime physical condition, and he would have a week to rest up, and I would even let him use my kitchen.
It's ironic that the one person on the citadel who feels the most free (the factory worker who revolted) is now the least free person on the citadel. But hey, at least now everyone gets to pretend like they have actual freedom whenever they eat simple Rick's wafers.
@Random Person Perhaps the saddest aspect as well. The most enslaved people who are the ones most comfortable with the chains that bind them.
The only way to "escape" the system is to do what Evil Morty did... take over the system and turn it into another, even bigger, system.
The Smoking Skull this man knows what he's talking about
my man!
The Smoking Skull
Wow you know what you are talking about
The Smoking Skull that's actually the whole point of Sith philosophy. If you are not in charge then you are a slave. The only true freedom is total control
Nathan s Totally. The Jedi wanted to "free" the galaxy from tyranny, but there will always be tyrants... and the tyrants are usually the ones who write the history books (or in SW's case, the Imperial holo-tapes the Empire uses to train cadet Stormtroopers and the general public).
Nobody talks about the rick that provided the picture
Thank you!!! Press Morty most likely wouldn't have even attempted to kill Evil Morty if PI Rick didn't give him the "evidence"
@DCED Nah, Our Rick was in Atlantis and doesn't care about the Citadel
@DCED Also, PI Rick is dead at the end of the episode next to the Morty that tried the assassination. Maybe paid by Evil Morty through proxies to hand the files over and cause the assassination, but was wearing something protective that made him survive, with much sympathy and support from the rest of public society. Either way, it's not our Rick.
Is it me, or did the whole episode seem like an allegory for race relations? The “Mortys” live in a segregated part of the citadel where drugs and violence rampant because the “Ricks” consider themselves mentally superior. When the “Rick” cop murders a “Morty” the “Rick” enforced system that he himself feels guilty about violating is the same system that lets him off of the hook. The Rick characters feel entitled and have a privilege in their society that the Mortys don’t. While campaigning, President Evil Morty even talks about how he doesn’t want a divide between Ricks and Mortys, rather he would rather focus on the divide between people abusing this flawed system and those who have to suffer its consequences. It all seemed so relevant to racism in modern society
So true man and how can i copy qnd paste ur comment On mobile it wint work
Wow good job getting the incredibly obvious theme of the episode.
@@yagirl3612 Idk, dicking around this comment section, I've seen the whole race thing go over several people's heads. "NoT eVErYthiNg Is aBoUT RAce"
@@yagirl3612 Obvious to obvious people. The theme of the episode is the exact opposite. The obvious opposite. That NoT eVErYthiNg Is aBoUT RAce. That your race has nothing to do with how you treat other people. If you are a racist then you do think that, but that is not the reality.
You have Rick the Democrat cop and Cop Morty the African American cop. We see Democrat cop caring about Morties, while African American cop calls other African-Americans animals, abuse his power and attack those African-Americans who want a change just because he can. Because no one gives a fuck. Not even other African-Americans care about African-Americans in African-American Town. Why. Not because they are African-Americans, it is because they are criminals, who prefer to do drugs over Morty Academy education.
We see that Democrats, who are independent, intelligent etc has created a system where people with power rule people with less power. But then we see African-Americans, who are dependent, less intelligent, etc, has created exactly the same system, except more violent. Genius Morty abuses Dumb Rick. You heard the Shadow Council of Ricks. They do not care who sits in that seat. Rick, Morty or Jerry.
It is not about race. It is about power. "Mortys have no chance of defeating a Rick." Yeah, but why? Not because of their race, but because of their intelligence. You may think it is the same thing. But it is not. There were two Mortys more intelligent then Ricks. One of them became the president of the Citadel.
Now, of course, if you are a racist you try to turn everything into black versus white, but that does not work A) there are Asians(Well, not in the show, but you know). B) it is about power. And power is colour blind.
That is the story of cop Morty.
@Sketchy Stuff Yeah, you interpret it based on your beliefs. So you see the race privilege of African Americans, who have an unfair advantage over other people when it comes to employment and education, based purely on their shade of skin colour. Is that what people mean when they say the USA is a racist society? Anyway. I do not see the episode that way, but ok. Different beliefs.
If you are born Fox Mulder you cannot be Dana Scully. Does that mean X-Files is about race? Well, if you are so obsessed with race, then yeah, you can say that Mulder represents a voodoo based African American and Scully is an archetypical European American who has given up on religion. And that the Aliens represent global Jewish Caball who target African Americans because no one gives a damn about them, which is demonstrated when they kidnap Scully and everybody loses it, and add all that gender bender study garbage.
But lets talk about this episode. So Morty represents African Americans and Rick European Americans. Les skip the whole African Americans are less intelligent than European Americans, it is outside of this episode. If we accept that logic, the Detroit City scene tells us that every African American needs a European American supervisor, or master if you wish, or else they will turn into drugs, crime, violence.
In that case, the episode is extremely racist and offensive and has to be banned and erased from existence. Do you agree?
"Come home to the taste of shattering the grand illusion" Let that line sink in for a moment.
"There's so much more to discuss about this episode but we've just barely cracked 10 minutes to maximise monetisation so tune into our ad-filled revenue generating podcast to get a taste of the completed video, come home to the finished version of a complex breakdown, come home to Simple Wisecrack"
I'm a little amazed at how much mileage they're managing to get out of this season of R&M. It's the same goddamn thing every episode: Be as crapsack as possible while shitting on even the slightest ray of hope or positivity. Frankly, it's getting more than a little repetitive. This is why people don't like die-hard nihilists in real life. THEY'RE BORING. Once someone has decided to only see the worst in everything, there's no point talking to them.
At any rate, the show is rapidly just turning into I'm-14-and-this-is-deep fodder.
die-hard nihilists are fine with being boring. why would someone who thinks the world is pointless give two shits about being interesting to the meatsacks they're forced to interact with?
btw, the show hasn't even gone an inch deep into nihilism. it's just nihilist tones underpinning the amazing grandeur of "world building". the real shit will hit the fan when the construction stops and deconstruction begins.
The whole point is they're explaining how to escape that nihilistic negative mindset through Jerry and Morty as he matures. If you really want a show like that look at Bojack.
Also, the podcast is free and Wisecrack deserves to get as much money as it can during the adpocalypse. They make quality content and put in a ton of effort.
The Private Select How are you so sure it's about escaping these negative sides of nihilism you speak of? Generally curios, as I perceive the show to serve as an example of different lifestyles based on different philosopical doctrines. We have Rick who alternates heavily between nihilism and hedonism (one being caused by the other, and the other being caused by some tragic/groundbraking point in his life), and how this lifestyle has taken a toll on him, and then we have Morty, who tries to be balanced, taking a bit from both sides of Rick's mindset without indulging in neither one of those. I don't see where the show tries to "educate" us on the nihilistic lifestyle tho
You should do their job then give them some more competition. It's not as if there aren't millions of videos breaking down R&M, WiseCrack just does it best. The podcast is free and the perfect length for a commute to work for me. I mean I'm here for the Simple Sparky Sweets but I do enjoy the quality of work that goes into WiseCracks quick take reviews of R&M because even though there's plenty of competition for quick turnaround episode breakdowns and WiseCrack does that well because I feel as if Jared and others at WiseCrack actually do some research on their breakdowns which isn't something most quick turnaround breakdowns do and I'm struggling to see how WiseCrack is hustling anyone by having a 10 minute video but if you want more for free there's a 45 minute podcast to nerd out on for free, there's no financial incentive for WiseCrack to make more free content but they do. That's the opposite of what The Simple Rick corporation would actually do, you get what you get and you better like. Come home to the taste of exceeded expectations Come home to Reality.

Execute Order 66
I recently had a discussion with a friend about whether or not a ruling elite in a capitalist deserves its prosperity and whether or not high taxes are justified to allow low income households to prosper by means of a basic income. He responded with the classic argument of the "elite" deserving their earned money and status due to personal performance in life, essentially calling it a meritocracy. By his logic, those who have nothing are in this position by their own fault. For me, unravelling this argument was the central point of this episode. A society of literal clones, still trapped in a hierarchy of circumstance. At the same time it touched so many issues of race, division, peace of mind, purpose and government that it is really hard to pick a central focus here. Amazing episode in any case.
UltimateVegetto I believe that the “elites” should indeed pay taxes, but do they deserve to pay more taxes than anyone else in the system?

Muller Potgieter there is a theory that evil Morty gave that info to Sherlock rick so that campaign Morty can shoot evil Morty and make people vote for him out of sympathy.
ZackAguon671 that's a pretty dumb theory. I mean evil Morty could have been killed. Rick is a genius, so it's not surprising that one of the Ricks figured out who candidate Morty really was. He probably wasn't the only Rick who knew either.
ZackAguon 671 That's some 4D chess right there.
The only other people that weren't voiced by Justin roiland are the simple ricks guy and kid beth
Ok we are like 2 episodes behind and I need these videos, love the cast you guys do but I need this too!
Excellent breakdown of an excellent episode 👏
Who narrates the simple Rick Commercial?
Clearly Sam Elliot.
I like your style Dude
It was actually Jeff Davis, doing a Sam Elliott impersonation. A damn good one at that.
Catheter Cowboy
Shouldn't a Rick narrate it? Makes no sense
Slick is literally in a garbage dump
SPOT ON!
Its nice to see that I am not the only one who gets the meaning in Rick and Morty.
You have a good brain.
I’m so glad this channel exists
This was my favorite out of the season so far
Evil Morty might actually sincerely want to better the situation for all Ricks and Mortys in the citadel. He promised to take a stand against the ruling elite and then he purged said ruling elite. As far as I'm concerned he's 1 for 1 on promises made and kept
Yeah, the show gets very grey when it comes to morality some times. It could very well be argued that Evil Morty's actions in S1 could be justified somehow. How? Dunno, probably need to watch it all over again. But it seems like something that could happen. I seem to remember that the Rick he was manipulating was one shade more evil that Rick C137.
Everybody has a different vision on what a perfect world looks like. That is the problem with giving one man (who promises a perfect world no less) all of the power. Evil morty could easily turn into a Stalin
this is why antifa exists, bc most people simply don't know what fascism looks like...
Right, just depends on what "action" Evil Morty is referring to at the end of the episode
Antifa Sarkeesian nigga Antifa doesn't know what fascism is like
Best episode so far. Just watched it for the first time, and need to see it again (maybe a couple times more) to pick up all the nuance. Loved it.
This has been my favorite episode of Rick and Morty so far. Too relatable.
My man!
The Daily Dan Looking good!
Slow down!
*snap Yes!
The Daily Dan *snap* yes
The Daily Dan o
Ron Swanson IS MY MAAANNN!!!
Rick C-137 Ron Jeremy is MY man...
This episode totally deserves a one hour analysis video
I like your way of thinking man, subbed
We can't escape the system.
But we can make self awareness profitable.
We can make the system promote the world we would like to see.
A world without a system? Huh.
what makes you think self-awareness would lead to a system that promotes "the world we would like to see"? what makes you think the utopian vision is something everyone shares? clearly there are those who think a world with trump walls is utopian, while others think a world without possessions is utopian.
the very system we currently see is already the aggregate of all the extreme-utopias people dream about.
the reason we can't escape the system is because there is a huge imbalance of power, where those who control propaganda (i.e. media and culture) still control how the masses think - including what constitutes "self-awareness". these uber-powerful will continually demarcate the "safe" boundaries of thought within which people are allowed to be aware of.
unless you are somehow in this top 1%, and amazingly charismatic enough to convince/influence all your powerful peers to fall in YOUR line, it won't be possible to "promote" any better system/world. but to do that, you would need to become the ultimate fascist, and force your will onto others - would that do for the foundation of a "better utopia"?
I meant those as two separate ideas.
-Make self awareness profitable
-Make the world we would like to see, profitable.
That is the only way the system will create it.
Obviously people would like to see different works, that why we need more discussion. That's why we need to exit our echo chambers and hear other perspectives.
My perspective is that we will never fix the huge imbalances of power, the only thing we can do, is make our best interests their best interests. By making what is in our best interests profitable.
We have the power to change what is profitable, we buy the products.
We just need to exit our echo chambers and start talking to one another, this will start the self-awareness.
From there we just need to start acting in ways, that provide companies an opportunity to profit off providing us genuine self awareness.
"The only thing we can do, is make our best interests their best interests. By making what is in our best interests profitable."
That is called capitalism. That is the current way of things.
However I get what you mean, but it sounds like an utopian and rather improbable world.
Your idea would require (as you say) a mass awakening of self-awareness. It would require (that we become) a completely different psychological creature, than humans. It would require a complete change in how we are taught, who teaches us(their ideas and goals for the education), it would require MORE controll to make sure that a high enough percentage of people got "THE RIGHT IDEAS"!
Humans are conformistic by nature. We follow the group, we follow what`s popular, we follow what`s safe, we follow the comercials. Your idea would require a fundamental change in this, one that would require mass brainwashing for starters...
As I said, it would probably require humans to become something else, probably something less animalistic.
Well capitalism just means that what is profitable survives.
It doesn't mean that what is in our best interests is profitable.
But you're right, what I speak of is improbable.
It would require things getting bad enough for change to be demanded on a mass scale, it would require a unifying factor, an identifiable figure.
But I disagree that it would require more control. Self awareness includes acceptance that there are no "RIGHT" ideas.
Humans are conformist by nature, but the conformation swings along a pendulum.
Whatever happens, is what was always going to happen. But hopefully the pendulum swinging into self awareness is what was always going to happen.
Considering our current lack of self-awareness, I consider it a possibility.
I swear the Rick asking questions at the debate said the divide between the groups has never been "whiter."
Wider. A wide divide.
One of the best episodes of 2017, reviewed by one of the best channels. I'm as happy as an alienated-slave of a 1984esque system-Simple Rick wafer consumerist.
I think it's fascinating you show your face in these videos. Most other theory channels I've seen don't show their face. Some do, but not most of the ones I've seen.
Good show! Love the podcast.
SOOOOO "The impossible flavor of your own completion" ??? were all just moving past that. really I've watched like 10 of these re-cap videos, cause I can't get enough of this show, but nobody has stopped to acknowledge that ... "joke"
This Episode reminded me a lot of the movie Brazil. It definitely touched on a lot of the same issues the movie brought up, and the Simple Rick's rebellion and subsequent entrapment are almost a direct parallel to the movies.
The lip read continuation to characters is amazingly done! Real wise ! 👍👌
This was an awesome episode!
Episodes like this is what i like about R&M in the first place :)
Wisecrack drinking game: take a shot every time Jared nods/shakes his head
Someone will die
If there's only Ricks and Mortys at the citadel, who's the guy narrating the Simple Rick's commercial?
Gab -Meme Morto- TV suave voice rick
Rick Elliot, pretty sure.
I think the series is falling into being likeable... but this kind of episodes bring it back. This has been the best of all seasons... amazing narrative and very down to earth.
Who would've thought that the most profound conversations would come from a cartoon...*hits blunt* These are some deep questions.
Nah, haven't really tried it. You recommend it?
This episode was fucking brilliant
Hey clean, are you done fuking the lady from the Super Bowl commercial...
So Evil Morty = Stalin, purging one totalitarian regime just to bring about another totalitarian ideology.
And Citadel of Ricks = Capitalism where even t-shirts of Che are commodified and fetishised.
Evil Morty hasn't manifested an ideology particularly, though in all fairness neither did Stalin I suppose.
Evil Morty could turn out to be an Anti-hero.
Simon S yea Stalin did lol
"I want power" isn't an ideology as such, and he certainly had no intention of abolishing the working class or instituting a system of free communes...
Shouldn't Evil Morty = Lenin? Since he was the OG in purging the, back then, Czar Russia and establishing the Bolshevik Regime through instigatin fear and spreading propaganda?
"The best we can hope for is an illusion" well that's just something I've kind of always known. My parents are always yelling at each other and it's kinda something I learned from listening to them.
thanks for your analysis dude, really helpful - peace from Sydney
Evil morty gave me goosebumbs
HEIL MORTY
Lasst uns die Bolschewisten und Semiten ausrotten!

Sir Edgelord wtf are "goosebumbs"
#Mortylivesmatter
Mortys are human!!
Eli Khan shut up you f#%king Rickless animals!
Mortys are sidekicks, without a side to kick, they just start kicking
"Same old story: Ricks killing Mortys."
Yeah, they're like balloons.
I’ve watched that episode so many times lol I don’t know why I love it so much😂
Thing is simple Rick captures the living vicariously through others that is rampant on our society. We use other experiences to fill us up as place holders. Tv shows case in point. Even just knowledge is a type of escape for Rick
Rick and morty FOR 97 MORE YEARS!!! 😃
Dark-Lark yes
I watched your podcast but I prefer these videos after every episode where you have time to put your thoughts together
You know it's cool, you learnt all this stuff and you didn't know it at the time but years later it helped you make this rick and north stuff. How do you not forget all this stuff
The Ricklantis Mixup is my alltime favorite, god i loved this episode
If anyone rewatched season 1 episode 10, the first time evil Morty was in the show, you would see that in ricks memories, you see president Morty...
Was president Morty our Ricks original Morty? Is that why evil Morty is evil? IM SO EXCITED!!
That was just Rick's memory of when he gave Morty a little vial of...
Rick Potion #9.
It's pretty on the nose that he's Rick's original Morty.
I think Evil Morty is Rick "C-137" (that's not his real dimension)'s original Morty.
Remember, he only became president after season 1 episode 10. If you are talking about the memory that has morty in a suit, that's a memory from the episode rick potion number 9. But Rick also saw a baby morty in that memory, and the way evil morty singled out our rick and tried to frame him means he could very well be ricks original morty.
The Morty who wearing suit with a lapel flower?
Like MRCKify said, It was E01S09 (Rick Potion) Morty .
Morty suited for "Flu Season Dance" then he asked Rick for love potion.
brave new world anyone?
Reproduction has been switched to collection of orphaned Morties. But yeah, if average intelligence is concentrated with a fat-tailed distribution for the "tall Morties," why are there such simple jobs like pushing the wafer button? It'd be cheaper to automate.
Cheaper to automate, but easier to subjugate. You know I'm right, because it rhymed.
and if my top is cute, you cannot execute
Thanks for sponsoring the show quidd!
So wait a minute, is “Simple Ricks” literally waffers with cream covered in liquid dopamine?
