I also truly believe that when you are seriously addicted it has to do with something that's happened to you in life that really messed you up and is unresolved. I'm clean now and have come to terms with the unsavory parts of my childhood, it took years to get to this point but for those going through something similar in regards to trauma. It gets better, you're more than the sum of your circumstances past or present. Keep pushing and never give up on yourself as hard is it may seem, there's always a light at the end of that tunnel even if all you can see at that moment is blackness.
Addiction is not a disease it's just the dopamine you need. The 12 step program is the problem getting people killed. A Suboxone program works you can't stay away from what your brain is programmed to. So in other words just manage it and move forward.
