Modern gamers so so ridiculous in that they tend to stay away from anything that isn't a 9 or 10 in reviews. It's a crazy mentality. They only seem to stray from it when they purchase annual franchise games. God forbid they play a AA game now and then.
nah it's not. mostly clunky controls and movement, bad camera, not so interesting characters, lack of originality etc.. i'm not saying it's a bad franchise, but it's 'rated' exactly as it deserves. high praise and excellent ratings go where they are deserved: god of war / devil may cry 5. when you compare darksiders 3 to these two, it really looks like a previous gen game in comparison.
@@basela.7823 - You guys are all wrong... it is 100% subjective. Darksiders is my favorite franchise, but again it is all subjective. Where you see "lack of originality" I see something original and engrossing. Also your comparisons are a bit silly, always has been silly to compare games in the manner.
@Adam Devo - Fair enough but that is only your one single personal opinion. I do agree that 1 was the best (still my favorite game)... but again this is all subjective to the individual.
Though I will agree with the OP in the sense that a lot of people who would like the franchise do not even know about it... so I would say it is a franchise that is overlooked but not necessarily underrated.
Darksiders 2 is a masterpiece best of the DS franchise.
don't feel frustrated at all, I feel extremelly happy as the franchise continues. when the final game finally comes up, it will be awesome, the longer it takes, the more satisfying it will be

I don't understand how camera issues, and wishing that there was other ways to backtrack would Grant a game a 7 out of 10 when everything else was enjoyable and fun like he said.
I think maybe for them a 10 Is essentially a perfect game in gameplay story and quality of life and so 7 Is a very good score but still not a perfect game

It's a terrific game. Great graphics, fun gameplay, sets up the next Darksiders quite well. Terrific value! 8.5/10 for me.

World and character exploration from zelda and combat from god of war
It was a mash up of both. It was God of War style combat with Zelda like weapons and puzzles.
It is a lot like Ocarina or Time with hack and slash combat from GoW or DMC.
You did not mention the music! I have been playing the game for like 5h and the combat theme from the first levels is already stuck in my head! A powerful section of the game.

Regardless of the score Darksiders always has a spot in our hearts in one way or another and the devs must be doing pretty good since games comics figures cosplay and lore videos keep circling through the rotation
You miss-remember backtracking in Darksiders 1-3... it was FAR MORE TEDIOUS. Serpent holes take forever to slog through and you used to have to walk/run through vast maps to get the things you missed. At lease Genesis the maps are fairly compact and not so much a chore to get what was missed.
As a fan this is a continuation. Without going into spoilers it's called Genesis for a reason. The story happens before all previous games in the time after War, Strife, Death, and Fury killed off all of their own race for the council and are tasked with keeping the balance where demons are amassing too much power. Without spoilers, the ending of the game is worth playing it alone if you are invested into the lore. The game plays perfect solo.
i played deadpool on ps3 a few years ago and i gotta tell you, strife reminded me a lot of him, both the gameplay and character personality
Awesome... Darksiders is my favorite game story, all time. Basically has all the elements that I love in a game. Cool story, fun cut scenes, excellent Characters make incredible game play. Art is grade A, plus bright scenes with vibrant colors to match. Puzzles, treasure hunting, and the Bosses are epic creations. Love it.

The game is great Solo, not just "fine". Switching yourself between the 2 playstyle mid jump or while rushing to a Boss is very very fun. A thing you cant do when you play coop (which is also fun for other reasons)
i love this game. i love the fact that they went back to the original formula that made darksiders 1 such a great game. the camera is different but the game play is darksiders 1 to the core. a mesh of god of war and zelda. however it is without its flaws. monsters already on the field when theyre suppose to be teleported in or monsters being suspended in mid air or stuck underground.

The top down view intake for everyone. Especially since most fans fell in love with the third person view of the last 3 games. Like the top down view isn't bad if it was another game...but some of the fans of this series would have preferred the original 3rd person view...myself included.
Also, you CAN play the game solo, but it's best enjoyed with a partner which will also be a no-no to some fans since a lot of us, me included, preferred these games be solo, with solo character puzzle solving in mind. There other reasons but yeah, I unfortunately will be skipping this entry and hope they go back to the usual 3rd person view in their next game.

If you want to play in split screen, you dont have to buy it. Just pirate it and play on pc with someone lol

Yeah, agreed. Need a proper third person action game for strife just like the rest of the gang got. Hopefully they take more inspiration from darksiders 2 as that's my favorite but I'm curious to see how they'll mix stuff up in the next one

DS3 is far from From games and people need to stop calling ggames where you might die twice as as Souls-like
Agreed. It is still a Darksiders game overall with at most some Souls elements tossed in.(but lightly I would argue as I cannot play Souls AT ALL but I can play DS3).
While I do wish it was a Co-op game with all four of the horseman, because that would be amazing (Maybe in the next one) I'm glad the game is so fun. Now I just need to clear my hard drive space to play it lmao.

External hard disc drive (HDD). Both consoles support 3.5 inch usb hard drives. Just plug and play. I just got a 12 TB hdd on Black Friday. 205 games installed, including space hogs like Master Chief Collection and Red Dead 2 and I’m still around 50% free.

This is a awesome game, its not diablo like in anyway besides sharing the camera.
When i played Darksiders II I couldn't help thinking constantly that that was the DIablo 3 i wanted.

@ThePHiLsTeR - Controls are very similar BUT again he meant the idea of a hack and slash looter... so to try and hold him to each and every similarity or difference beyond his point of comparison is silly.
Darksiders 3 had LOTS of jumping and platforming, it was even part of the very first boss fight.

That aside you are also right there is no platforming or jumping in Diablo 3... but that point is precarious at best as the OP said Darksiders II was the Diablo 3 he wanted (so that would INCLUDE new added features that Darksiders II had that Diablo 3 did not, like JUMPING and PLATFORMING... this should be obvious for someone with common sense, as you put it).

The levelexploration, items, puzzles and part of the combat are very much like zelda. I feel like darksiders 1 is a darker zelda mixed with god of war.

I'm super disappointed they made this game like Diablo I hate the above camera that one thing ruin the whole thing for me . I didn't even know this was a thing that was coming outI was just strolling through the PlayStation store and seen this and got super stoked and then I watch the gameplay the interactions between the brothers seem cheesy not very dark like in the previous ones I don't think I'll be by in this it looks like it lacks everything from the previous ones

Or like Shadow Warrior reboot. It would be an fast paced FPS with many movement abilities like dash and melee combat weapons. I actually think that gameplay style would suit Strife the best and it would continue an formula for series that it always gives something new and fresh with next game when it comes to gameplay. Also imagine world of Darksiders and traversal in first person it would look amazing and play similar to Mirrors Edge.

It would be the exact gameplay we see in Genesis but third person. Basically short swords for melee combat and guns for ranged (it would be like Darksiders 1-3 but a bit more fleshed out gunplay). At least that is how I see it happening.

Darksiders is a franchise that I love to follow, but don't like to play all that much
My only complaint is how cringe Strife is. They managed to make a bad ass character sound/act like like some pathetic weak character. I’m playing as Strife.... a member of the Legendary 4 Horsemen... not some Fortnite kid.

"Strife is a great character" No, just no. The Impression we got from Strife in Darksiders 3 was a completely different one than what we see here. Dont get me wrong, I love the game and are enjoying the shit out of it, but the only gripe i have with it is that Strife is a such a comedy relief that it comes to a point you're wishing he would shut up already. I don't know what they were thinking when they did that to him, Death's humor was alteast somewhat acid and as such it gave him a bit more on-earth personality, but Strife? He's way too over the top.
Raziel uhm.. i think you did not understand DS3 then. He hat the same Attitude. Also: There is like over thousands of years differente between Genesis and DS3
Strife is DS3 was terrible... that fiery preacher voice was just horrible direction so they fixed it in Genesis (also remember Joe Mad is the one who lead Genesis, granted 3 has some top guys from the old games too but I felt it lacked a clear vision). This is all personal opinion though, I think there is nothing wrong with having one of the Horsemen being a jokster to counter War's (and Fury's) straight forward dryness (and Death's sassyness). I persoanlly found his lines enjoyable, even more so War's reactions.
I get what you are saying though, there was a game recently that had a really annoying character but for the life of me I cannot remember what game it was but if you feel that way it can ruin the entire experience.

I don't like this change, the best one was the first part. I dont want to play a league of legends or diablo clone, they made the same with part 3 cloning dark souls gameplay. It is a shame.
