THE WOMAN KISSING THE CHILD IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE FOR ANY TIME EVER

I watched ' Never Been Kissed' with Drew Barrymore on disney+ the other day after never seeing it since the 90's and I was a bit shocked that a teacher was falling/fell for a student but in the end it was ok cause she was undercover as 25 year old reporter but he thinks shes a mature 17 year old.
@Idk did i? if i did i didn’t mean to lol
BRBBOWFLEXINL4D never been kissed made me so uncomfortable because of the point you made and how she was “dating” a kid to seem normal even though she was a grown woman
cos times change and what is allowed and not allowed changes too
i love how she outright acknowledged that he was 10 years underage and then did not hesitate to kiss him romantically
Yeah, and the kid will still be underage when they planned on dating in a couple years. Do you think the woman should have just given him a quick peck on the cheek instead of fully kissing him on the mouth?
@@rickylafleur5804 yes totally
@@megorly792 I also realized the woman could have just asked the kid for the information the cops wanted instead of being in a romantic relationship with him for several weeks. Wow, this movie is WEIRD!
Meanwhile, I was practically his age, and if I had done that, it would not have played out the same way.
At least they didn’t make him take his clothes off like they did to Alfalfa in *The Little Rascals* movie that same year. That wasn’t even a Disney movie, and what makes it even more shocking is that that was under a female director!
@@AttmayReally?? I only saw that Little Rascals movie once back then. Was the boy literally wearing nothing on the movie set in front of the adult female director?
there's such a big thick line between having a kid crush on an adult and the adult playfully playing into it a little so as not to break his heart, and having her clearly return the feelings. they had to put so much effort and planning into crossing that line its crazy
Yeah, the boy having a crush on a pretty woman is fine, but the way she was clearly attracted to him during their romantic dates looked illegal! Does it freak you out when she kept touching him in the water fountain?
Even "playfully playing into it" is still completely and utterly unacceptable. Any child with a crush on an adult needs to be immediately and very firmly shut down and redirected. It needs to be made extremely clear that, while the romantic feelings are a normal part of growing up, it is not ever okay for a child to have a relationship like that with an adult.
"Adults reciprocating your feelings is fine and normal" is a REALLY REALLY BAD THING to teach children for reasons that should be extremely obvious lol. Doesn't matter if it's "only a little" so you don't "break their heart".
@@jessicastjames6202 They just meant to not say no, not to reciprocate it. If a child says he has a crush on you then a laugh is enough of a reaction not to break his heart, yknow?
@@jessicastjames6202 i don’t think they meant it that way, “to act like the adult is reciprocating their feelings” they meant to not outwardly tell them off because it could lead to humiliation and fear of rejection when they grow up - it’s best for the adult to ignore the advances and not entertain the idea of a possible relationship because, yes, that would be extremely dangerous for the child
am i crazy or did they also like kiss, in real life? its not like, cgi, right??? this adult actor actually kissed a child on the lips, in the movie, but also physically in real life. how is that allowed?
The tension between the child and that grown ass woman is so disturbing. I- ..... I could have gone my whole life without seeing those scenes
I literally saw this movie as a child and my brain auto scrubbed them from my memory.. rewatching these scenes now and unlocking the memory of them I literally screamed " I??? watched?? this????? why????"

Probably the most realistic part of “Blank Check” is that the kid spends $1 million in 3 days
The *Problem Child* movies were more believable, even when you account for the deviations from the true story those movies were actually based on.
Wait...if Preston was so poor, how the hell did he have a computer in 1995? The cheapest ones were like $2,500 a piece!
His family is generally well-off, his dad is just a jerk to him and spends all the money on Preston's sibilings.
My family was poor, we got our first computer in 1995…a gateway computer. I don’t think they were that expensive that year tbh.
@@MrHypnofan Dad wasn't really a jerk as much as he wanted his kids to all earn their way. He wasn't spending all the money on Preston's siblings for some kind of wicked stepmother-type animosity, it was because they were starting a business.

I feel like it should be stated that kids/teens having crushes on adults is fine and normal because they don’t know any better (i.e. a student having a crush on a teacher). HOWEVER, if the adult pursues the relationship, then the adult is 100% at fault and deserves to be in jail for the rest of their life.
As a future elementary school teacher, exactly. The thought of a teacher responding to a student in that way makes me want to jump out of my skin.
Either you don’t respond to innocent compliments or just leave it at “thank you”.
If I may offer an alternative to lifelong imprisonment, perhaps mandatory isolation away from children, coupled with therapy and rehabilitation until they show substantial improvement with maintaining their involuntary orientation? And then continue to monitor their behavior and require regular therapy sessions afterwards? Cuz you know... it's a genetic problem they suffer with.

I like how the woman agrees to see the kid again in 6 years, but he looks about 10 meaning he will STILL be underage in 6 years time. Yeah, I don't know how no one decided to pull the plug on this movie before it was released.
Yeah, that woman openly planned on having a romantic relationship with that kid when he will still be a really YOUNG minor! Do you think it's creepy how her lips lingered way too long when giving him that kiss on the mouth?
That last film could have been so much better if she just had like a babysitter sort of "date" with him before where she just has fun with the kid and isn't worried about trivial adult things, she clearly knows he's interested and all, but she could've just continued to be nice but keep her distance, but they filmed it like there was actually like some sort of romantic or sensual tension there. And that damned kiss makes me feel sick to my stomach. She should've just kissed him on the cheek or something, or talked to him like a teacher or counselor or really an adult with any semblance of responsibility that PLATONICALY cares about him, because that kiss was just so disgusting to see, she literally looks like she's 4 times his ag, the kid's character wasn't even in double digits. Why the hell was that ever approved? Who thought that that was a good idea? And how many Priuses can that actress's therapist buy?
Yeah, that adult woman looks like a huge creep in this movie, especially when she fully gave that kid a long and deep kiss on the mouth! Does it freak you out seeing her sweating and shivering while staring at the boy during the scene at 11:30?

Yeah, the little boy having a crush on a gorgeous adult woman is perfectly natural, but seeing her being obviously attracted to him makes this movie borderline illegal! Does it freak you out seeing her shivering and soaked in sweat while staring at the kid during the limo scene at 11:30? I was scared she was going to invite him to spend the night at her house
This reminds me of this girl I knew in college who thought it was so cool that she nannied a 9 year old boy. She called him her “minecraft boyfriend” openly and proudly as a 22 year old woman, and always talked about how he’d tell her he loved her. She got engaged, and he got really upset because he thought they were in a real relationship because this bitch didn’t set healthy and appropriate boundaries with this kid, and played with his feelings

Yeah, so many of those romantic Disney movies and tv shows back then starred actresses in their very early teens with boyfriends played by actors who were adult men. Weird!
@@rickylafleur5804 you are terrifyingly fixated on this subject after commenting this exact type of thing over and over for months straight. go to therapy
How come this sort of thing happened all the time? It's not like there could have been a shortage of male actors who were teens like their female co-stars. Why is she always a teen and he's always in his 20s??
@@OwlBardthe most generous guess i can give is that they wanted their teen girl audience to be able to relate to/see themselves in the main character while she lives out the fantasy of falling in love with a hot guy. with few exceptions men in their 20s are better looking than teenage boys, and it isn’t uncommon at all for teen girls to celebrity crush on adult men and imagine romantic relationships with adult men. so it’s like a self insert fanfic. not that disney should have played into or normalized this of course!
in the tv shows and also many of the movies at the time they portrayed age appropriate relationships, but in some of the movies they portrayed the hot mature dude who sweeps you off your feet, which is a fantasy and not a realistic scenario. so maybe they thought about it that way, like the viewer could also distinguish fantasy and reality, but of course their audience isn’t going to be that critical or discerning so in the end it doesn’t matter. i don’t see why they couldn’t have made, say, camp rock with nick jonas as the love interest instead of joe, but nick jonas definitely had a different/younger image at the time and i guess that just isn’t what they were going for.
there are also restrictions for working with minor actors that don’t exist for adults, so it’s probably easier production and budget wise to have as few minors in the film as possible. plus adults are usually better actors than teens, so it’s just easier for them to cast an adult. in the end it’s all financially motivated, because that’s more important to them than portraying healthy examples of relationships for teen girls in every single movie.
I remember watching that Blank Check scene, sitting on my grandma's floor when I was like 8 and thinking "That's weird." And then I forgot about it because I was 8. Imagine if it were some 30 y/old dude and a little girl. Pretty messed up.

She didn't actually kiss him on the mouth - although it is HEAVILY implied. She kisses him on the space between his nose and his lips. Because of the angle of the camera her chin covers the view of his moth, thus making it look like she really kissed him on the lips when she actually didn't. - I hope this knowledge stops someone from vomiting. Also NEVER watch "Interview a Vampire" when Brad Pitt kisses 11 year old Kirsten Dunst. She has said publicly that is was gross b/c he was like 35 at the time. It was not a stunt double- it was actually her. 🤢🤮
Still now that i revisit it, it still feels horrible. I remember watching this movie SUPER SUPER long time ago (like back when the original Live Actions american movies and tv shows used to play on disney india instead of Indian adaptions) and i remember seeing the kissing scene but i didnt understood anything.
Now after re watching nearly a decade after, i just felt super disugsted, stuff like this shouldnt be here.
I understand where you are coming from with the comparison to Interview with the Vampire but I also feel like it’s worth noting that the kiss in Blank Check is a full on romantic kiss making it inherently pedophillic while the one in Interview is a peck between a father and a daughter.
That doesn’t take away from the fact it was uncomfortable for Dunst (also worth mentioning her full quote "At that point I was a little girl, and he was like a brother to me," Dunst said. "And it was very weird even though it was a peck. I was just very not into it. Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.")
But it’s still worth noting the big difference between the two.
How would you even use a stunt double for a kiss?
bruh... but also yeah most actors in movies do kisses like that. and this vampire stuff reminds me of that movie with the teenage girl whose brother got abducted by david bowie and she has to get him back. Like there isn't any subtext in the movie about them being in love, they have this weird comatose dance scene thing together, which is weird, but like. arguably alright. but then you read the comments on it and it's full of these middle-aged women talking about how they had a forbidden love or whatever???? and like??? no??? not at all??? what the hell???
@@florencegosselin1924Wasn’t the whole point that the goblin king had fallen in love with her and kidnapping her brother was to basically get her to exchange herself for him? That’s so weird lol. I grew up the opposite with Cartoon Network. I used to love watching Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, Dexter’s Laboratory, the Powerpuff Girls (the original and only good version), Johnny Bravo and the Smurf’s. I only got to watch a couple of Disney shows like Lizzie McGuire and That’s So Raven. There’s probably more, but those are the ones that popped into my head.
Yeah, do you think it's creepy there were so many romantic date scenes between that kid and adult woman on a Disney movie made for children?
@@rickylafleur5804 yeah, it makes me uncomfortable looking back on it now for sure.
@@itsjustmaddisen True, especially when they were sitting together in the back of the limo! There was also NO reason for that woman to give that kid an incredibly long and deep kiss on the mouth. She should have just given him a quick peck on the cheek instead!
I think it’s insanely weird how many movies with young boys have them with old women and they say “call me in 10 years”, like that ain’t the most predatory thing ever. I know people see it differently cause men are usually more in power but it’s still messed up.
Yeah, when women say that to a kid they are basically admitting they are totally willing to sleep with him...if she could get away with it or if it was legal.
It's completely disgusting. I remember thinking that in the movie, Big (with Tom Hanks) as well. It's beyond disgusting.

When I was 11 and in 5th grade in 2015, my teacher showed Blank Check in class because we were doing some sort of class project about checks and math (or something like that) and she thought it would be a fun way to show us what checks are. Or something like that. We finished it over like 3 class periods because I remember 1 of the periods was a day I was sick and I missed the beginning. So I started Blank Check when the kid gets hit by the car and had zero context for why he wanted a million dollars. very very weird movie.

To add when this was fixed the gender ratio for r @ pe perpetrators (the stats were collected by the FBI BTW) tripled that year with it going from 1% of guilty verdicts have a female perpetrator to 3% of guilty verdicts having a female perpetrator.
