Apparently Disney pushed this to be played in schools to promote an anti-bullying campaign, and I know this because my school made us watch this. After each short we had to discuss the moral or lesson the story was trying to portray.

I feel Frenemies was Disney Channel’s attempt to do a anthology film with segments that share the same theme and come together in the end kinda like Mickey’s Once Upon and Twice Upon a Christmas but I feel it failed miserably

I'm like 100% sure this film was based off of the 2008 book 'Frienemies' by Alexa Young, but the book story was just about Avalon and Halley's relationship. I have no idea that they made a film adaptation or why they added two extra irrelevant stories to it. I remember really enjoying the book as a kid.
The movie was made 11 years ago….the last time Kendrick and drake made a song together…..and Mr Nostalgia makes a video when things gets quiet….. coincidence 🤔

Nostalgia tweaking by the end of the movie is both justified and funny as hell. Overall, if you want something good related to the term frenemies on the Disney Channel, just listen to that one song Buford and Baljeet sang in one of the Phineas and Ferb episodes.
Disney was just throwing DCOMs at any of their stars to get a quick ratings boost. That golden era of DCOMs from the mid-2000s was unmatched, some of that gold snuck into the 2010s with Let It Shine and LM.

Act 3 honestly felt like a completely different movie. As a kid the only storyline I cared abt was the boy and his dog even though Zendaya and Bella Thorne were marketed heavily. And ngl the dog’s face when he’s getting yelled at lowkey hurts my heart lol

That dog did some very solid acting in this movie. Definitely deserve an award, or a treat for his performance.

I actually loved “Frenemies” when it first aired. I was like in 2nd grade though. I have a weird nostalgic biased when it comes to movies from 2008-2014, because those were the true years of my childhood. I rewatched it in 2015 and it wasn’t that bad in my opinion compared to other movies. Honestly I believe the worst Disney channel movie ever is “Up Up and Away”, now that movie makes no sense and it so horrible.

Whenever I saw this movie, all I could think about is the Song from Phineas and Ferb, when Buford and Baljeet are singing about being Frenemies. That minute-long song was probably better than the entire movie ngl.
My friend and I have an ongoing list of if we ever meet and actor we would tell them I loved you in "insert obscure and or bad movie here" and for Zendaya we put this movie as what we would say to her.

this movie was so weird as a kid because at the time, all disney originals had a beginning, middle, and end. whereas this felt like 3 episodes of 3 different shows

The worst DCOM has got to be The Poof Point (2001). Movie had zero budget and it is 90 minutes of Tahj Mowry and the girl who voiced Penny Proud cartoon(?) wandering around a house
Kyla Pratt voices.penny proud. She was so.funny in the show one on one you should definitely check out that show girl was so hilarious on it
fyi, the "two identical unrelated people, one rich and one poor, decide to switch lives and get into shenanigans" plot comes directly from Mark Twain's "The Prince and the Pauper."
I remember watching this movie as a kid and being taken aback by the connected anthology structure. Based off the promotions I thought it was just going to be a zendaya and Bella movie.

I was 20 in 2012, so I wasn't watching Disney Channel anymore, but I remember seeing the opening story with the dog while flipping through channels and immediately hating it.

This was one of my go to dcoms, it came when I was leaving the watching Disney weekly era of my life. I remember being excited due the promos and liking the first and third parts. Idk I hated the zendaya and Bella storyline.

It was like the first thing he explained-Disney really wanted to push zendaya and Bella as their new power duo due to the success of shake it up. They were putting them mfs in everything
this was actually filmed at my high school and during filming my drama teacher regretted letting disney use the school due to disney’s choices on which groups of students got to be extras
I remember being really excited for this movie as a kid because I was obsessed with the book of the same name that the second act was based off of, but was super disappointed because they basically changed everything but the names and premise and added in the weird dog and twin acts.

Its always annoyed me how in kids movies the kids always do what they want and they do things i dont even do as an adult. I get its a kids movie but it just feels like lazy writing.

What I think is so hilarious while watching this video is that halfway, when talking about act 3, when bringing up "Savannah" my brain rewired what you said so many times that I thought you said "Samantha" and because Mary Mouser is in Cobra Kai and plays Sam Larusso, I just thought her name in this was Samantha as well for a second.
I also didn't remember that she was in this when I started watching the show for the first time this year and she hasn't aged in the past 12 years (I'm not joking when saying this). I have seen this movie twice. This movie is THAT forgettable.
This movie just should’ve focused on Bella and Zendaya’s characters with the other characters being secondary/the love interest, the mean girl, etc.
You could’ve even kept in the dog somehow 😭
Wow, this movie isn't as good as I thought it was. That explains why I turned out when rewatching it on disneyplus a few days ago. 1st story, I know man's best friend is a dog is kind of true, but that story made me think the kid needs to get more friends especially if he thinks being mad at his dog is them being frenemies. Dogs are cute and all, but you can't have a falling out with your pet lol.
2nd story was the only one that felt like a frenemy story, but the main characters in that story came off as annoying and while I get they were the designated narrators due to being a big disney show their narration aspect is useless here.
3rd story... did they just run out of ideas? That's not friends or enemies, they didn't know each other before that. I do laugh that this world is set in the Vanessa Hudgens Princess Switch Christmas movie world and these two girls are just 100& identical and not blood related. The british girl's parents even question if they did have twins and just forgot lol. That was funny at least.

The first and last story at least were kind of connected with that Savanna girl but it was like someone at the higher ups was like “yeah we planned a shake it up movie but it was canceled but Zendaya and Bella already signed on so can you put them in. Here’s an abridged version of the story we planned just show horn them in other scenes bye”

The Zendaya and Bella Thorne storyline is directly inspired by a book series well at least just the first book and elements of the 4th one and they made some tweaks here and there but the characters names are the same and the fact that they have their own blog is a thing happening in the books as well as their love for fashion

Yeah, I wasn't interested in watching this when this came out, and I was eight, but I only liked the first story with love Simon and the dog and Stefanie Scott (not because I had a crush on her and still do.) Didn't care for Zendaya and Bella's story and Mary's story was a blur but I'm pretty sure I liked it better than story two. I wonder if most people thought Mary Mouser looked familiar when they were watching Cobra Kai cause I was like, "Have I seen her from somewhere?"

i have a similar experience, never seen it, i hadn’t completely outgrown disney at the time but i was definitely losing interest, i actually really wanted to see it but it just kind of got lost in the noise.

I think I only kind of remembered this because I had a crush on Bella Thorne at the time. That and I was watching Shake it Up regularly, so yeah the marketing did get me as a 14/15 year old. Must have blocked out how bad it actually was due to this bias too LOOL
