I think the reason why there wasn’t any kissing scenes during this movie is because Sterling Knight refused to kiss her because she was so young

Even as a 12-year-old I questioned that whole SATS montage scene where they go to all the landmark spots of LA... even though Christopher is supposedly trying not to be seen with her...? There's even a shot where he has his hat and sunglasses off posing in front of a billboard of himself! It's hard to be less discrete than that.
As someone who lives in So Cal that is kinda realistic especially around certain spots of LA. We see celebs all the time. Now I can see tourist goin ham tho and La is full of tourist so they should’ve had some ppl dressed as tourist fan girl haha

I think the reason Starstruck was so popular was because most people really liked Sterling Knight for his role as Chad Dylan Cooper & the belligerent sexual tension with Demi Lovato's character Sonny whatever her surname is. I feel like they tried to replicate it with Danielle Campbelle here but since their ages were 14 yo/20 yo, it fell completely flat

The older one for not being Responsible and Failing to look after her sister TWICE (especially since she would've basically left her sister behind in the beach by herself)
and the 2nd one for literally wondering off to somewhere else WITH A STRANGER without letting her big sister know, Destroying/losing a family member's car, Lying about her whereabouts, and refusing to talk about what happened between her and a Stranger who's Older.
In the parents POV (and other people's point of view outside of the movie), it definitely seems something inappropriate and disgusting thing happened especially when the Daughter refuses to talk about it.

She was 14 and he was 20?! As soon as you suggested the brother and sister dynamic, how their relationship was portrayed makes sense. There really isn't romance in this movie. From what I remember, there's no long gazes or chemistry. At the most, they have a little crush on each other.
I’m telling you, this gotta be Sonny With A Chance DLC. Chad was doing side projects while Mackenzie Falls was on hiatus. Bad movie for DCOM standards but Disney somehow sneaks out good music.
I think you're underestimating how in the early 2000s it was a very real chance that you could be out living your life and then a great calamity befalls you all at once. And then just when your life is at an all time low, Ashton Kutcher pops out , shoves a camera in your face and says you've been punked

This was a weird movie as a kid. I remember getting this movie mixed up with Stuck in the Suburbs. Anyways, this was a great video. The Everybody Hates Chris moment was the best part

When you said the doctor is conveniently his sister's husband I couldn't help it. I busted out laughing hysterically. Someone almost* ready for puberty wrote this in their diary with a gel pen, tickling their chin with the pom-pom at the end of it as they swooned in deep thought, in the dead of night by flash light only, feverishly listening for the sounds of parents coming to make them go to bed for school the next day. ... and for whatever reason, they seemed to have known exactly what they were doing because people really seemed to have liked it. I'm going to have to watch it.
Loved Starstruck as a kid and i guess I still like it now, purely for the nostalgia factor and fun songs. But yeah, if I saw it today without watching it when I was 9, I would probably be way more confused by the movie. Jessica is a very unlikeable protagonist, the movie has so many plot holes and it just feels low effort at times compared to other DCOMs. Despite its poor quality though, I still enjoy it. Kind of a guilty pleasure ig.

I was suppose to meet up with my friends the night Starstruck came out. I told them I'd be a couple hours late but didn't tell them it's cause I wanted to stay home and watch the premiere XD I listen to burnt cd's on the way to work and still listen to "Starstruck", "Hero", and "There's Something About the Sunshine" on a regular basis. Bangers! Oh yeah but the movie was weird as hell hahaha
I used to rewatch Starstruck around valentines day every year since it came out (and then stopped in like 2019 or 2020), and each year I realized more and more how awful the writing and some of the acting is in the movie. Definitely makes it less fun to watch, but a lot of the songs are bangers and makes up for poor plot lmao.
Also, you should definitely make a video on the Nickelodeon movie Rags!

for some reason I have a DISTINCT memory of the premiere night.
I was watching Disney like usual, and the countdown was in the corner. my parents took me to the hospital cause my baby cousin was just born. hung out there for a while, played some Rugrats jungle game on my GBA. on the way home we got the “new and improved” burger king fries, and got home to catch some of the end of the movie.
so weird that I never watched this movie but have such a vivid memory of that night related to it.

I tried really hard to make the singing my voice, but I literally showed up a week before shooting and heard the songs 4 days before I recorded starstruck”

Starstruck... Exists. And that's kind of the best way to put it for me. Even as a 13 year old I knew this was not a very good movie. There was some good music, but overall it's a pretty meh experience. I also remember being pretty confused about the plot as well the first time I watched it as a kid. Also remembering just how hard Disney pushed this movie as well. Felt like you couldn't go a single commercial break without them blasting "Starstruck" for awhile there.

What I hate about the writing of Chris and Jessica is that she was supposed to ground him because he was a star but he never acted like a diva. Matter of fact, he always was rather nice to her so her attitude made no sense. They should have wrote him as a pretentious prick instead and shouldn’t have made her so hostile to him immediately.
i always just assumed i never watched starstruck whenever it was mentioned, because i have no recollection of this movie at all. after seeing this video i realized the only part i vaguely remember about it is the garage scene. i grew up on the disney channel and just forgot about it honestly
The only reason I remember this movie existing is because there's a children's theatre company in my area called Starstruck and growing up after this movie came out whenever I looked up the theatre company website for auditions and such I got results for this movie instead.

I watched it so often as a child, it was definitely one of my favorite Disney movies. and all the songs are so catchy that they're stuck in your head the following weeks. like all movies I watched and loved as a child, it turned out to be quite cringe looking at it from an adult pov. but now it's just a guilty pleasure to watch and sing along to
the thing about starstruck is that they write jessica like she’s the protagonist of a wattpad self insert and it’s like. unfair to both her and to girls watching that she’s not allowed to be a character past that. the chelsea staub plotline is weird too because like i get the point is nothing in christopers life is real but he’s still a person and she’s this caricature? in fact the only woman who has a fully developed honest character is the grandmother. also they keep claiming parts of la that are very clearly other parts of la are like. hollywood. a lake. infuriating.

I used to be obsessed with this movie back in the day. At the same time, I was so surprised at how nobody cared where Jessica was at any point in the movie. It kind of normalized that kind of parenting for me because I just thought my parents were so uncool because they didn't let me do things that Jessica's parents let her do lol

so i was 10 when it came out, and i remember i really did not like it, it made me feel second hand embarrassment. but honestly the next year i was basically writing one direction fanfics that was also enemies to lovers lol. the songs were pretty good but reflecting back i def got the embarrassment because i felt like i was similar to jessica and i didnt like the character of christopher so i was like 'noooooo what are you doing'

I believe Disney did two movies that were similar to each other and they were star struck and stuck in the suburbs. Stuck in the suburbs came out before star struck. Star struck is more talked about than stuck in the suburbs.

I wasn’t obsessed or anything. But….I did and do read and write fanfiction so…makes sense that I would like it XD. It definitely has the tropes. Although, the fanfiction that I read is usually better written…
