Just did this job yesterday on my 2011 STi. I found it super easy to take a standard length stud in and out without disconnecting the parking brake/hub at all. Rotating the hub as it goes in helps.
I love informational videos like this! Nice work man.
Funny you said you would take it to a shop but you don't have it like that sir just keep doing what you're doing I took mine to a shop just to get some tires mounted and got it back like this and now we're in the same situation bro awesome getting son out in the garage I always do the same cheers mate
Thank you for making this video. I just replaced several wheel studs that were damaged and I found your video very helpful :)
That was a cool tear down!
Thanks for posting that. I'm glad studs don't normally break in 2 years. Hope you figured out where that random piece went..
Good job bro!!
Thank you for the video! I'm going to replace one of my rear wheel stud as well since it's stripped!
Just got your shirt in the mail and its sick! Good video as always!
Awesome! Hope you like it!
Excellent man, this may come in very helpful someday if I ever have the same problem!!
Omg the drone nearly crashing too hahaha... Damn!! 😱😱
You can use the brake line bolt to go into the rotor hole to push it out if it doesn't come out by itself. The washer trick is good though
Easy-peasy!!
"My boy" lol. I have used that excuse too.
If you put the rotor on it would’ve worked well as a spacer I think. Either way great video.
that happened to me too lol on the L rear
Do you run stock break lines and pads? Was considering the stoptech kit. Also do you have a front and rear break maintenance vid?
Haven't done a video on that yet. Hope to have a brake video in the near future. :)
JR you obviously never watched my rear stud install video. Loosen the four bolts on the back side and boom 💥 you will have plenty of room to get them out.
I did. Thanks for posting that. I wanted to try this method. Now that I've done it, it literally takes seconds to loosen the brake shoe.
I did my son's 17 impreza and there was a sweet spot with enough room with the shoes still on and not loosening those 4 bolts either. Went way easier than it should of haha
Gotta love breaking a wheel stud. luckily it's one of the easiest fixes. Are those Ed Hardy work gloves?? Lol
Just some cheap Harbor Freight gloves. They are good for only costing a few dollars.
Could I get a link to the studs you used?
I don't have a link. I just went to the dealer and bought it from their parts department.
Bro your car looks exactly like mine lol it's scary. Except the wheels. I have the 18 inch onees :)
These are just my winter wheels.
Dam dude if i knew how to do that i'll replace it my self. I took my car two months ago to change my break and it looks like the dealer put the lock-nut incorrectly and it crack. I cannot prove it that they did it, but now i have to pay for a mechanic to fix that for me.
You don't have to remove your drum brakes bro. On the door side of the drum brakes there's one that has a cut out in it so that you can weasel your studs in and out
I must say, I too miss your summer wheels. Those stock ones look terrible :(
Yeah, still too cold for summer tires. :(
I want a STi wing :( !!
Keep looking! You'll find one.
My WRX Channel thank you!! haha
Wrx_Jesse buy an STi...
Jody Carlos Borrageiro working on something bigger!
What.... how you break one? that's crazy mine have never broken you must have torqued the wheel down wrong. Lol 😂 said every person that's never rotated wheels on a monthly basis. I have changed so many got to go ARP extended!
I gotta get some ARP studs! All those wheel changes and rotations really weaken the studs.
Blake's Garage my mechanic broke one of my wheel studs on my 15 wrx then went on to explain how shitty the oem lugnuts were and why he uses antiseaze on his lug nuts lol im still convinced he got trigger happy with his impact and misplaced his torque wrench
did he say drum brake
phijef89 Haha! yes he did, at least he isn't using an adjustable wrench on his caliper like they did on his buddies sti!
the parking brake is a drum brake lmao
ok...e brake
If you teach your boy to do it properly he'll hand-start everything with threads and this will never happen.
I've had shops cross-thread my lug nuts, leaving me to fix it. There's really no excuse for that except the most idiotic form of laziness.
