    Just did this job yesterday on my 2011 STi. I found it super easy to take a standard length stud in and out without disconnecting the parking brake/hub at all. Rotating the hub as it goes in helps.

    Thanks for posting that. I'm glad studs don't normally break in 2 years. Hope you figured out where that random piece went..

      Omg the drone nearly crashing too hahaha... Damn!! 😱😱

    You can use the brake line bolt to go into the rotor hole to push it out if it doesn't come out by itself. The washer trick is good though

    If you put the rotor on it would’ve worked well as a spacer I think. Either way great video.

    Do you run stock break lines and pads? Was considering the stoptech kit. Also do you have a front and rear break maintenance vid?

      @CarsWithJR  Před 7 lety +1

      Haven't done a video on that yet. Hope to have a brake video in the near future. :)

    JR you obviously never watched my rear stud install video. Loosen the four bolts on the back side and boom 💥 you will have plenty of room to get them out.

    • @CarsWithJR
      @CarsWithJR  Před 7 lety +1

      I did. Thanks for posting that. I wanted to try this method. Now that I've done it, it literally takes seconds to loosen the brake shoe.

      @mikestern9639 Před 3 lety

      I did my son's 17 impreza and there was a sweet spot with enough room with the shoes still on and not loosening those 4 bolts either. Went way easier than it should of haha

    Gotta love breaking a wheel stud. luckily it's one of the easiest fixes. Are those Ed Hardy work gloves?? Lol

    • @CarsWithJR
      @CarsWithJR  Před 7 lety +1

      Just some cheap Harbor Freight gloves. They are good for only costing a few dollars.

    • @CarsWithJR

      I don't have a link. I just went to the dealer and bought it from their parts department.

  • @rmchl1337
    @rmchl1337 Před 6 lety

    Dam dude if i knew how to do that i'll replace it my self. I took my car two months ago to change my break and it looks like the dealer put the lock-nut incorrectly and it crack. I cannot prove it that they did it, but now i have to pay for a mechanic to fix that for me.

  • @112997733
    @112997733 Před 2 lety

    You don't have to remove your drum brakes bro. On the door side of the drum brakes there's one that has a cut out in it so that you can weasel your studs in and out

  • @BlakesGarage
    @BlakesGarage Před 7 lety +1

    What.... how you break one? that's crazy mine have never broken you must have torqued the wheel down wrong. Lol 😂 said every person that's never rotated wheels on a monthly basis. I have changed so many got to go ARP extended!

    • @CarsWithJR
      @CarsWithJR  Před 7 lety

      I gotta get some ARP studs! All those wheel changes and rotations really weaken the studs.

      Blake's Garage my mechanic broke one of my wheel studs on my 15 wrx then went on to explain how shitty the oem lugnuts were and why he uses antiseaze on his lug nuts lol im still convinced he got trigger happy with his impact and misplaced his torque wrench

  • @marshaul

    If you teach your boy to do it properly he'll hand-start everything with threads and this will never happen.
    I've had shops cross-thread my lug nuts, leaving me to fix it. There's really no excuse for that except the most idiotic form of laziness.
