Perfect for upgrading your outdoor area this spring. It uses a couple of 2x2s and five fence boards, so it's inexpensive, but well-built and easy to make!

The equal spacing of the screws just makes such a difference to the finished look ... and the hint about placement of the screws at the cross members is invaluable ... excellent 👍
The only thing I'd suggest is to alternate the overlap of edges at the corners, purely a cosmetic thing 😁
@Barry Christie I don't disagree with you on the corners. I wanted to miter them, but I've not seen a lot of folks have good luck with outdoor miters staying nice over time. I have one box that I made that staggers the overlaps and it looks pretty nice. So instead of all short or long slats only on each side, it's one short, then one long, then one short, and so on.

Nice design & build. Do you fill that completely with soil or put a high false bottom?
If filling completely, you could omit random (or cut into) side slats for rockery type plants to grow out sideways and drape down
@John Colgan Thank you! I made this to fit potted plants so they can be changed out easily from time to time. You could modify it very easily to put soil in though by covering the gaps in the slats from the inside.
What is this straight-edge push block you mentioned?

@Clinton Lemon III It's the same 3/4" MDF push block that I use for the L Fence! You know, sand paper on one face and one edge, smooth on the others. I found out that it is one of the easiest ways to get a clean straight edge on material. Just put the smooth side against the fence and the sandpaper face down (for grip). It's just like securing a straightedge to the material with double sided tape or screws, but way faster and convenient! I haven't made a video about it that I know of, but I suppose I probably should.
