When I did a No Buy for a few months I stayed out of stores like target where I would just blow money. Less temptation helped so much! I also had a lightbulb go off as I looked around during those months and realized I have more than enough and don’t need anything!!!! I decluttered during the no buy too and I felt so happy and proud
I shop and sell full time. Primary picking stuff up at the last stop before stuff goes into the landfill. There are many others that do this in every state. We pick up people’s junk that they got rid of and save it from the landfill while making a full time income from it. Don’t feel bad!
I have a rule for myself when decluttering, I put like items together and separate by clothes, household, toys and games etc. When boxing or bagging for donation, the bag/box has to be full before it leaves the house. It forces me to make hard decisions and also I hate having the stuff clutter the house, so the quicker I can fill up the bag the sooner it leaves the house! Silly I know but it works for me.
At about 5 min the video is talking over each other
For a minute I thought it was something I had done lol. Like accidentally playing another video somehow. But def a mistake in editing
I thought the same thing, like I had two things playing. It's at about 5 min in.
SO sorry!!! Editing mishap!
I decluttered an acrylic shelf that I had LOVED but didn't need any more. It was a hard decision. I put it neatly on top of my other items, so it wouldn't get damaged, but when they took the donations they just dumped the whole box into a big bin and it snapped. 😱 I was mortified.
I know it's just stuff, and it was not sentimental at all, and it's fine. The moment anything is manufactured, it is literally on a journey to a landfill. Even recyclable things. The trip is longer or shorter, but if it's not biodegradable, that's what it is. I don't need to store things to "save them" from the landfill. I do what I can, but in the end, my mental health isn't worth it sometimes.
A good tip .I stopped the flood of emails from my favorite stores telling ppl every minute they're having a sale ect , such as macys and Nordstrom rack , marshalls , tj maxx ect ...It can really be a big problem when one overspends .I rather help ppl that have nothing.
Great motivation. I hace been doing this the last 2 days between shovling. My office has been closed for 2 days due to the snow and have been cleaning and decluttering more
Great video as usual! You are definitely my favorite go to for decluttering motivation. Ps love that blouse!
ANOTHER TIP FOR SELLING - I sell things on my local fb yard sale page for way under normal selling price. If it is commonly being sold for $30, I’ll do $15 or $10 just to get it done that day with less conversation. Pick up only, first pick up, etc. Than it goes to someone who wants it or wants to resell it & it stays out of a landfill.
Also local free hubs & buy nothing groups on fb are the best. I have met really nice people that I end up staying in contact with and I can just message them directly about certain items.
So much stuff OUT of my house now thanks to you and a few other CZcamsrs
♥️♥️♥️
Last year I donated a ton of stuff to the thrift store. The only stuff I sold was some movies, old video games and old games systems I didn't want anymore. There is a store in my town that will buy that kind of stuff like movies and games.
I feel like the landfill concern is just an excuse for people to not try. You can always recycle things. We send our kids old clothes to kids in Africa that need them. We can also send pots and pans and things like that that they can use. There are always people who need things. If you are donating to a good center than the stuff will not go into a landfill. You are so right, consumption is the issue.
I love your videos. I always look forward to them. 😊
I wish I could declutter right now but we are snowed in and had to go to a family members house for warmth. You would have been so proud of me yesterday. I filled my 30 gallon recycling bin to the top with things I decluttered from my house.
You look especially lovely in this video! That lip color is 👌🏻❤️
Omg the puzzles. Oh the puzzles and the little pieces !!! 🙀 I hate the puzzles. And I can’t get rid of them. I saw your puzzles in the box and I got whiplash !! It’s so hard to be ruthless with toys cause we feel like we are cheating our kids
This was one of your BEST videos on Decluttering! I feel like I need to take notes so ALL these tips stay Fresh on my mind!😆 SO good!💗
Love your blouse .The pink makeup is def you !
I’ve never heard “spending freeze” I’ve only heard “No Buy” / “Low Buy” 🤔 and this year I’m really focusing on 1 in 1 out but I’m also doing a very strict low buy year 😀
I’ve been watching your channel for a while, and love your tips. I have to say that I had to go back and watch again, because I was totally transfixed with, how amazing your skin is. Well done❤️
Thank you
I watch your videos over and over again while I'm cleaning and decluttering. To the point that youtube made me a playlist of all your videos 😂
Another great video! Love listening to them while I clean
Amen to the black bags!!! 💯💯
Yes!!!! I started in my kitchen, last week on my day off. I cleaned out 5 drawers and it felt great! This week on my day off I was motivated enough to clean out seven cabinets! Plus I scrubbed the outside of all my upper cabinets. It was very rewarding. I still have more to do in the kitchen, but I know it will get done on my next day off!
Free driveway pick up has worked great for me- have a time frame of availability mentioned in your marketplace post- i usually do 3-4hrs- and have interested people message you for your address and watch your stuff walk away. Very rarely did i have anything left to donate to a business.
You are good! Great ideas and suggestions. Thank you.
My kitchen & closet are my two most minimal places in my home. I buy replacement only in those 2 areas. Kitchen - I do not keep gadgets, small appliances or specialty items. I have a small kitchen and everything has a home & gets used regularly.
My closet I decluttered to 40 clothing pieces three years ago and have maintained that level since. I shop replacement only for clothing and am able to enjoy all 4 seasons (-50C to +35C🇨🇦) with just these items.
I'm also not into home decor. We live in a tiny space and I prefer no extras for the sake of "decor". Instead we keep our favorite books & plants (and my husband has his guitars) to personalize our space.
Our home has no pantry, junk drawer or linen closet. This keeps us very minimal.
I loved this video, it was very helpful! I’m currently on a no buy for the first 6 months of 2021. I’m doing a gradual declutter of my body care and home fragrance items because I didn’t want to waste any of them by throwing them away. In July I’ll be having two categories. Those in the maintain phase which will be a 1 in, 1 out rule and those in the areas that I still want to declutter will be either a 2 out or 4 out, 1 in rule 😊
Great tips. I'm having a 1 day garage sale this spring what doesn't sell I'll give away or donate. I just don't want to mess with it after 1 day and if it's only 1 day you can usually do better then a 2 or 3 day sale
Great advice! And your personal look is so pretty!!!
People who are afraid of the landfills filling up how about donating to people who you know. I have always had people I could donate to and they are greatly appreciated. I ask one person to come and look at a time sometimes I know what certain people will want and box it up and they always take it. It really wouldn't bother me if they didn't want it because someone will I also know some people who make a living at the flea market I love to bless them it makes them so happy to get it. I love blessings people .
Thanks for sharing this!
@@FancyThatwithCandice I hope it helped someone . I love your channel. Have a Blessed day
I've decluttered so much over years , but I decided to practice minilmaism, the last two years .But I did slip a little. But I'm back to a no buy year .It's hard so I'm going to try month to month.
You look beautiful today in the video. Your video today really helped me make some decisions that I have been trying to decide what to do. Now I'm just going for it and getting rid of it. Thank you for everything.
Thank you for sharing . Another fun , informative video . I’m just about to do day 16 and decluttered 16 items .I’ve been doing the ldk what it’s called but day 1 purge 1 item and day 2 2 items etc. And my most useful thing I found was I challenged my sister to do it and we send each other a picture at around the same time daily , I’ve found that has kept me focus and also I watch your video for ideas beforehand to give me ideas and have fun with letting go. When my sister sends picture I txt back and I say space wasters begone 👍🏻 because that’s how I see the bits of empty bottles or creams that give me spots I keep putting back in draw but feel guilty as money badly spent lol.
Also I notice in your description box you put answers to most asked questions but you miss one I think is your most asked question and that is what is the name of your lipstick 💋. Someone asked in the comments on this video already , your lipsticks are always perfect on you . I was going to suggest you quickly flash the colour up at end of each video but then I thought you might lose out on comments but maybe if someone asked you could pin the comment and ask any one who found it helpful to leave a 💄💋 with a thanks so you get the comments still. 💛
This is awesome! Ok I’m going on a spending freeze right now! 😀
Love that beautiful top!
This was great. Thank you. btw...You always look so fresh and pretty. Makes me want to do better.
You look so pretty! Pink is your color! 💗Great video again!
Decluttering bit by bit. I cleaned and organized my linen closet, this last weekend. I bought a bunch of bigger baskets, in "calming" colors that I use everywhere. Got rid of a box of stuff, and didn't even go thru expired meds.
I need to start doing before and after pics, to give me inspiration.
We're remodeling, and next is the kitchen, so I'm decluttering a lot of spaces. Going drawer by drawer, cabinet by cabinet, but one at a time. I told my husband, "No buying, for the kitchen, until AFTER the kitchen is done. I mean, other than the stuff for the remodel. No new accessories, appliances (except the dishwasher, sink, microwave/vent system. I keep making excuses it seems.
Great tips.
A tip I have regarding donating to charity shops - try not to take it to a local one, otherwise when you see your stuff in there you might be tempted to buy it back.
I love your blouse, it’s really pretty.
Your videos always motivate me, as you have such a bubbly personality.
I know I’ve asked this before, but are you a Latter-Day-Saint?
When I worry if something might end up in the landfill I try to give it away on the Nextdoor App or Facebook Marketplace via porch pickup.
❤️
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before, but check Facebook to see if your neighborhood has a Buy Nothing group. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
Or you can sell your items in bundles.
Good idea!
@@connie0613 thanks
Your videos have helped me in decluttering in my getting ready to move this spring. That being said I have a husband who is the problem, he thinks he should pack up everything he has accumulated over the past 34 years. I point out he hasn't used a particular item and he tells me he does. It has caused several fights. We are down sizing from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom condo and I know what will happen, he'll move all his "stuff" then when we get to our new place he'll see he can't keep everything and then start decluttering. Dealing with that has been the most frustrating part. Any ideas how to handle him would be greatly appreciated.
We have a local buy nothing page on FB... post pics and offer to whomever can use/take all and it's usually gone in a day. 👍👍
Or you can put things out by the sidewalk with a "free" sign, rather than throwing it away, depending on where you live.
You’re gorgeous!!!
I would suggest giving things (you do not want to sell) away for free. I put boxes full of stuff in front of the house and people passing by take what they want. You can also put whole boxes with stuff for free at an online market place. So it does not end (directly) in the landfill.
O have loads of things to go out but nowhere to take it. Thrift stores are full up right now. 😬
A lot of times you can post on fb marketplace and mark it free. People will come and pick it up.
Due to the recent brutal weather here, there was a large community effort to bring warm clothing , beds, tents, food, and hygiene items to the homeless center for the homeless camp. We did not need to declutter but had many useful supply items we could spare and share. We have a renewed sense of gratitude for our little downsized house. We are senior seniors, so we are able to keep our belongings down to a minimum and current. We limit ourselves to utilities, taxes, insurance, copays, or home maintenance.
Eventually everything we own will end up in the landfill.
At some point, yes...thank goodness there are people who take care of our "already too used to use again" stuff! So thankful for them!
@@FancyThatwithCandice absolutely and a good point. Take care of your stuff for other can someday enjoy.
Like five minutes in there’s double voice is talking and it’s hard to understand
You are so beautiful and fun! After I recover from knee surgery I will be all over this like white on rice ha ha
5:03 has a video with volume and your voice over over the top and it hurts my brain.
I watch your videos over and over again while I'm cleaning and decluttering. To the point that youtube made me a playlist of all your videos 😂
