If you need to declutter books and toys, buy a puppy. My daughter bought a dalmatian and now, eight months later, I can honestly admit to decluttering 1,247 books and 2,553 small toys that the dalmatian chewed up. She has been a great help!

I love how you decluttered instead of buying new hangers

I love the idea of unfollowing temptation. I’ve done that in the past, unfollowing makeup channels because I kept buying more makeup (and I rarely wear it as it is). Helped tremendously.
Brilliant video. Thanks for the tips!

I find one of the most useful tools I use is making games of decluttering. I’ve played the minimalism game several times.....declutter one thing on the 1st., two things on the 2nd. etc. I find that a great challenge and you declutter a lot in a month. Also timing yourself and see how much you can declutter in a certain amount of time works great. If I feel like if it’s a challenge I’m more likely to succeed and of course then you feel more motivated. Of course videos like yours and other minimalists has really started the ball rolling.😊💖🙏

All good tips. And you’re correct in that we declutter but we don’t put systems or limits in place to continue that clutter free life.

You've got this!! Just declutter things into a "maybe" box so you don't have to commit to getting rid of it if you're not ready...just live with less and see what you think!!

  • @aliceb4070
    @aliceb4070 Před 3 lety +3

You're right about the clutter-free zones. The more you create them, the more you want each room to become yet another clutter-free zone. I'm down to two rooms now that are not clutter-free zones and I plan to "someday" conquer those. Lol.

I have nicknamed you the "happiest minimalist". You just seem happy everytime you to a video. It seems like your journey as something that brought joy to your lives. You have a great attitude about this as a way of life and not something that is a "fad" I believe that we waste less when it comes to shopping once a week and I have a day I call errands and it helped on running around which ends up finding something to buy or eat. I gave up on coupons long time ago because we buy things not needed or didn't really like. When the machine spits them out at the grocery store I tell the clerk give them to next person in line. I get more thank you's from that small act of kindness. Thanks for sharing Miss Happiest Minimalist!

I bought those hangers too. But I bought 60 😬 and still ran out. As a kid living with a super minimal mom I guess I over did it as an adult. Now I’m pairing down!
On another note, I just unfollowed target and dollar tree haulers. If I don’t know what’s in stores, I don’t “need” it. Eliminate temptation! You hit the nail. Thank you for the tips

Great tips! I love your videos.
The clutter-free zones idea has really worked for me. About three weeks into my decluttering journey, I realized I was craving a space that was cleared, something to validate for myself all the hard work I was doing throughout the house, a place to clear my mind and relax, a place to let go of the clutter AND the decluttering for awhile, a place of peace and calm. So I did that for myself. I cleared out one room and called it my own. I use the room throughout the day, but I keep it tidied up. I put things away. It is my respite room. It is my training room...training me that I can easily tidy and maintain when I have less stuff.

I love your energy and it's always fun to watch your videos. When I receive a coupon from a store, I usually first think about whether I or my family need something. If not, I'm thinking of someone's birthday soon who might need something from the store. If not, I'll let it be. There is no reason to buy something unnecessarily once you have become a minimalist. Not to buy it for someone else eather.

Grocery delivery has saved us hundreds of dollars over the last year. I no longer wander aimlessly checking out the deals. We are in the process of remodeling and decluttering and would rather spend the money on simple furniture or some new plants.

Your last comment is so true! All the Extrabucks and coupons for drugstores plus watching videos on makeup and skincare had me purchasing all these "deals". When I moved into a tiny house I had 9 boxes of makeup, moisturizers, and shampoos and nowhere to keep them all. I started selling them (for a loss) on Poshmark just to get rid of them and recover something. Love watching you!

Hi Candice. The food thing is so true. Last year, we overbought food when we couldn't get a supermarket delivery slot because of C*****. The queues were 25,000 people long and even after that, you couldn't book a slot. We are still working our way through it now. 😩😩😩

I don’t like picking up after him because he should learn but how do you get your hubby and kids to do that?? Or do you just pick up after everyone all day?? I’ve picked up on his negative habit of messiness/lazy...what do you do?

Clutter catcher containers mentioned are a great idea that I may consider. I just thought it was very unfortunate that she brought them up immediately after telling us to unsubscribe to pages that encourage us to buy things (obviously I don’t have any “clutter catchers” and would have to buy some). Otherwise, this was a helpful video.
