My favorite place to start decluttering is my purse. I deep clean it once per week so it’s never too much. After that I am so motivated to keep going.

@@FancyThatwithCandice I’m ok with my family, but it’s a few things I have that let’s say my mom gave me that I don’t display or even a large painting that was my grandmothers it was on her wall the whole time I was growing up, but my home has very high ceilings and I can hang it, plus being minimal doesn’t help, not into nic nacs, and too.much artwork

So glad you mentioned getting rid of microfiber sheets. I cannot stand them! They are so hot and seem to twist up on the bed. I’ll keep using cotton bedding as long as it’s available.

I just decluttered my kitchen (I did my bathroom first because it's so small) but I feel like I'm on a roll now that I've got that room done. The counters are CLEAR! 🎉🎉 Great video!!

You really are never FULLY done...since we are always bringing/getting things (birthdays, holidays, replacing items, updating wardrobe, etc.) But I do think it's fun when you get to the maintenance phase!!! You'll get there!
For years I kept clothes that I no longer fit then last year I when on a decluttering phase and got rid of some much clothes like 70% of my clothes now I lost over 50 pounds and regret it lol but at same time it's been fun buying new clothes 🥰

I'm so backwards. 😂 I spent YEARS trying to declutter and got nowhere until I went down to a minimalish wardrobe. That was the hardest, but it had to be first for me. It got the ball rolling and picked up momentum. I've been decluttering with almost no issues ever since.

It's so good to hear you say you are sentimental about your kid's clothes, books etc. I'm mid 40s and my oldest has just graduated. I still have a couple bins of her baby/kid clothes in our basement. Lots of memories tied to those items. Working toward minimalism and it is quite a journey! Love the channel.
I feel like the more rooms people have in their house the more stuff they have. I don't have a laundry room, family room, den/office, etc so that helps cut down on extra stuff. I had a chest full of sentimental stuff but have gotten rid of some things. I gave my son all of his stuff....all that was sentimental to me of his things. Sadly, I didn't keep one outfit. I was really attached to the books I use to read him when he was really young and Disney movies we use to watch as he grew up. I use to keep all the cards I was given but finally limited myself to one shoebox full. I have all of my report cards, all my pay stubs, and sadly old photo albums that have the horrible sticky back and scrapbooks that you put the tape on....grr.....horrible for photos. I absolutely love watching decluttering videos as it always makes me want to declutter more!

My Mom gave me all the stuff of mine that she had, too. I threw them out but was a little hurt that she wanted nothing.
@@joeyl695 I gave my stuff to my son in hopes he'd treasure some of the things I kept for him. The books and movies I was hoping he'd read to his kids that he enjoyed at a young kid. His daughter is 2 now and sadly he hasn't read any of them to her. Since you didn't want anything that your mom gave you did you tell her you didn't want anything so she could have some things back for herself? My daughter in law didn't want a lot of stuff her mom gave her and she took them back.

oh yes, that is a really tough one....all the old family photos...most no one even knows who they are anymore. No one wrote names on the back of phots. Ir's actually kind of maddening. and sad.

Yes, sentimental items. I’m also hung up on how much clothes for kids- I feel as I’m having a hard time with laundry so I want to limit BUT I don’t want them to wear the same few items to school and other kids are mean and I think would notice.
