I remember buying a full set of Michelin performance tires for the track that was so expensive that the very first bill after that, that I seen was the company I choose to take it out on and get rid of... it was iRacing. 🤣 (bad timing) for them and a great decision for putting my well earned money to good use. I've been enjoying your raceroom content. Thanks to you I've reinstalled the game since trying it out a few years back, and after a couple hours went ahead and bought the premium pack. This game has seriously filled out since I last tried it out, and the racing is really really quite good. I was happily surprised about that after having been an iRacing enthusiast. Thanks Dave.

RaceRoom is great, I jumped into it not long ago and I think it has way better physics and FFB than iRacing, great game.
Great video as always. I was on RaceRoom for a while shifting between that and ACC. When I moved from Thrustmaster GT to Fanatec DD CSL. I couldn't figure out how to configure the wheel correctly and was becoming a faff.. I will give it another go. However, I have been talked into iRacing and been on that a couple of months. I feel like you have been struggling with your love of sim racing recently and maybe putting too much pressure on yourself. You are a really good at what you do and appreciate the time you put into this.
Raceroom has way better fov and driving feel than any other sim.
The way the cars perform at the limit and over the limit just makes sense. Its crazy seeing cars in front of you moving around in a way almost all other sims don't show

It does, I have been playing ACC for about 3 months now and now im back to raceroom after the FFB update and it just feels so much nicer to drive in the sim.
I have followed you on iRacing, ACC and Trucks. I might as well give this a go. Seems a lot cheaper but investing more money when iRacing keeps me working for overtime dollars.

Dave, it makes me happy to see you enjoying R3E! I started out with iR, moved to ACC, then on to PC2 and spent a lot of time in PC2. Went back to ACC for a very short time. I still have yet to get online and race, I just haven't had my schedule mesh up. These little cars are a blast to drive! Regardless of the engine! That turbo 4 screams, the 5 cylinder! I love Audi's, I have an S5 (my 2nd) the first was the 8cyl, this is the turbo 6. But, I say all of that to say this, I have had more fun in R3E as of late, playing with the GT3 cars or the DTM cars which I love! I have messed about with the F1 cars a bit... The high downforce cars are a blast! But, it is also fun to slow it down, jump into a WTCC car, where you have about five minutes, comparatively to think about your corners. Anyhow! Too much jabber! I enjoy your content my friend! Colin

Thank for bringing this series to my attention. As a R3E user, I got this series included in my full package ( all cars & tracks ) but didn't pay any attention ....'til now, that is....after viewing your vid, I took a silhouette car to a short 5 laps at Hockenheim....ok, I had taken out a formula x before, so the first lap in the silhouette I always searched for more gears and thought the's a problem with my brakes ( always on or so )...but after the second lap I got used to the rythm und started to take the car for amore serious rideout. What shall I say what you not already know by now...it is indeed fun and the way these cars behave support my driving style more than many other race cars.....So I will certainly check them out more indepth once I finished some open tasks in ACC....😉 forgot to say : You got a like and a sub..keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻

Think i have allmost everything raceroom... But havnt raced for a couple of years. Didnt get it dialed inn with vr. Then i just got 3 monitors instead. But didnt get that dialed inn eighter.. (maby its a me problem... 😬🤔😅) but the way to go raceroom for those who are new.. Buy the rp pack. (rp =ingame money) you get 10.000 for 35% off all the time. Raceroom often has 30 - 50 % off on packs.. So when on offer, you buy the pack. Dont buy straight from game in euro.. Good video as allways @dave. 👍😁🎉

Hi Dave nice to see you on Raceroom the driver ranking as no limit but you would only get so far with dimnishing retuurns the highest i have seen is in the 2300 but i think the safety caps at 100.

Call me a snob but I evaded the Canards, mainly because back in the days (2014) I only raced them on Rookie Servers to learn to anticipate/read mindless moves, chaos pilots, wreckers and those "guess I can win the race at turn1 " type of guys :). Guess I will reconsider as I had some tough and clean races on Ranked Servers so far (mostly been a league racer but I'm a bit tired of that kinda competitive racing and just wanna hop into the cockpit for more fun racing sessions)...thx for promoting RRE Dave. Much much better than its reputation and nearly 10 Years of development are paying off finally - great community too btw. ...

Currently testing iracing, so far I'm far from blown away, RR looks like a great in this example. I will look in to the price structure. I also am waiting for ranking to come to ams2. In the mean time I find by far the best experience is private league racing in ACC, just a shame the ranking system is a bit lacking in ACC
If you do buy into raceroom, get all content in one go using VRP you will save a fortune

Been stuck racing just on my console for years, really want to make the jump to PC but I have very little knowledge of what I would need with regard to specs.
I’ve seen the iracing and raceroom minimum specs, but what would you recommend I need to get started with?
Will getting something that just meets the ‘minimum recommendations’ be a waste of money and ultimately be a disappointment?
Bad time to buy a pc with the prices of components, but really want to get on to pc gaming. Any pointers would be appreciated.
If you can I'd always go for the recommended if you can. Things move so fast in of gaming

Give a try to the M1 Pro Car ranked race - more challenging, sometime frustrating, but once you get it those vintage cars in RaceRoom are great fun :) the smae goes for DTM92, Group5, TC Classics, NSUs etc.
Regarding the time penalty, there wasn't a time indicated as you had the "race info" widget active through OtterHud and at this point the slowdown time isn't in shared memory. It's currently recommended to keep this part of the hud provided by the game itself - it's the option "essentials only" in the game settings instead of "off" .
You can move around the default HUD components in a way they align seemlessly with OtterHud, so you can have everything provided by OtterHud except fo info on penalties, flags, lap invalidation messages etc, which are better if provided by default HUD at the moment.
Other than that, I would recommend activating the spotter widget, and if you ever do longer race, the fuel/lap time widget, which is amazing for any races where you have to pit as it provides real time calculation on fuel needed.

@@davecamm No problem, nice to see more content creators getting into raceroom and making it more popular. Two other small OtterHud related tips would be that the individual widgets can be resized by mouse wheel if you need to, and if you want the main timing tower to be cleaner or take up less space, you can turn off the logo on top.

Vast majority of cars are real ones. Brake lights are there and light up, of course.

That is Otterhud (superb and free). If you are using crewchief, you can integrate/launch it there.

tried RR a few times, haven't figured out my settings yet to make it feel real comfortable. seems like the cars I have tried require a whole lot more steering input than every other sim I have used.
Lastly, people complain about iracing's cost.... Raceroom is right there as well.

@@robcampbell6099 you said "it's right there as well", implying it's a similar cost. a starter pack is more than enough for races every week, no need to spend 120 at all. 120 would only cover iracing subs for a year, not to mention double figures for a single car or track (Few quid in r3e btw).
R3e has been running for over a decade, games like AMS2 come and go and get replaced and are not comparable for this reason.
AC is a tremendous value game as well but its a pity it doesnt have a focused competitive side

Looking Forward to the big Update in Raceroom in June. FFB and physics should be better than. Hope so... 🤣 The steering in some cars feels a bit like gum....
I would love to get more into RaceRoom and the ranked server stuff but every time I have looked there is hardly anyone online and getting up or staying up for the Euro/USA stuff just isn't worth it for me. I want to get off iRacing as I don't really have the money for the sub but love the fact I can get some people to race in my time zone

It looks good, but not for me. I struggle to get on for various health issues - I’m just getting iracing running how I like it (irffb is a game changer on Logitech wheels) so I’ll stick with just the one for now and try to get to the point I’m happy with everything and feel like I can race without stressing about knowing what I’m doing.

It really depends on what you already have or want. If you already have a pretty oke pc, you can start with a second hand wheel combined with pedals and a shifter for like 150 euro's.
I have nothing. Not even a gaming PC. Just a regular home PC. Ill be doing my research. I really think I'd enjoy this.

RaceRoom is very friendly to PC setup, its free on steam, so try it out if your pc can handle it.
Simracing as such can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. In terms of PC, you might need good one if you wanted to race in VR, 4k resolution etc, especially with more demanding sims like ACC or rF2, but Raceroom for instance is a very undemanding game. I am running it on 8 years old PC that was midrange at best even then.
In terms of equipment, you can do alright with 300 USD wheel clamped to the table and pedals on the floor, as long as you're comfortable and have a way to stop your chair from moving too much under braking. There is a very good chance you will want to start upgrading the equipment after a while, and yes, then the ceiling of what you could spend on equipment is very high, but it's all optional:). The high end equipment usually doesn't make you much quicker (even though decent pedals will likely allow you to be more consistent), it is more of a spending on extra immersion and cool looking shit.

Ive tried for days to get the FFB to feel right on this and i cant get used to the odd understeer feel where the wheel just goes from weight to no weight, anyone with any advice on setting up the FFB for DD wheels?

@@mbezik lower the "understeer effect" in ffb settings. But as above brand new ffb system is out next month, ive been using it for a while now (beta testing) and it's a big step forwards

You don’t need it, because R3E gives you more FFB cues out of the box. irFFB are trying to make Iracing FFB feel like the other sims. R3E is the other sims. 🤓😅
How are the physics in your opinion?
Can you explain how the rep calculation works? Some guys have same incidents but very different rep gains or losses! I can't get it? I would drive more online races if the reputation is fairer!
I am not sure how exactly it works, but I think the fluctuations are somehow related to amount of races you've done and your averages. In the beginning the rep usually fluctuates quite a bit with each race, later it stabilizes, so you gain/lose less with each race. There are also some thresholds of how much you can gain or lose in single race.
And frankly, reputation is mostly a non issue in ranked. The servers are usually limited to 75 or 80 rep, which is something you easily get within like 3 reasonably clean races. If you spend a bit of time in ranked, you'll soon have rep over 90 unless you're completely clueless or an intentional wrecker.
I think the rep calculation is fair, you have to keep in mind that 99.9 is the max. rep you can have. So the loss/gain per race also depends on your current rep, the higher your rep already is, the harder it gets to gain more.
But as Panvlk said, if you are driving reasonably most of the time, your rep will go over 80 soon and never drop below again (probably stay over 85 or even 90).
If you are racing on rookie servers (without minimum rep), just stay out of trouble the first few laps, let the crazy guys take each other (or themselves) out and pass them safely when they sit in the gravel. : )
Thanks for your answers. One race I did i gained 5 rep. The other guy (only we two were racing) quit before start and GAINED 15!!! That's the other thing I don't understand.
@@Maus881 If you quit in practice or quali, there should be no impact on rating or reputation. If you quit in the race session, it counts as DNF and the reputation is usually negatively hit (by quite a lot). Are you sure you were looking at the same person who quit? Because if he gained rep after quiting at any session, that sounds like a bug, but one I've never seen before.
