I'm really happy Raceroom is getting so much attention lately. I also first ignored it, the 'free to play' model made me associate it with those crappy mobile games and their pricing model with 'virtual racing points' is way too confusing. But once I started it and drove 2 laps - I immediately bought the Premium pack with all the content. Love the physics, the sound and now the ffb is great too. Also check out the older cars from Group 4 and 5 or the scirocco for example, such a blast to race in :)
i didnt really like R3E but the last few days I have been having a blast treated myself to the premium pack for my 62nd birthday & im very happy I did 😁
The BMW M1 Procar did in fact not have a V10 or V12, the madlads at BMW put a straight 6 into it and managed to get it to 470 horsepower, the Group 5 version even was able to reach up to a thousand horsepower
This was honestly really good. The FFB on a GT DD Pro was incredibly detailed as was the output for the buttkicker. It felt and sounded awesome. Honestly not bad at all for a free to play sim.
Love to see my favourite sim stepping up the game and getting more attention from everywhere now. I think this will help to get even more players on it. Although the player base has grown very much in the last year. Hope to see more Raceroom videos on your channel!
For radar etc. get the OtterHud - combined with CrewChief (which is able to handle OtterHud, instead of launching extra dash app that is needed otherwise) it's the classic R3E combo :) As for classes - DTM92 are classics, also new version of FR3 feels great... and the Audi TT Cup 15/16 on track that suits them (Zandvoort or Norisring for example) and with TC completly off are great fun :)
The ability to just jump in to a proper, well-populated and reasonably fair race when you feel like it is unbeaten, short of paying for iRacing at least. I am a sucker for eye candy though, wish they at least tossed on some flashy post-processing.
Love to see you jumping into all the sims lately. They all have pros and cons and you’ll find out eventually none of them really get it all right. You just have to enjoy the best experience you can find.
I drove about 40 hours of R3E before this update. Didn't touch it for months. I hopped on again after this update and the default FFB settings that it gives me for my wheel is perfect. I just feel like it's perfect out of the box for my wheel base. I'm definitely going to spend more time on R3E. I don't mind the graphics tbh. When it comes to the AI, what I really like is that there's adaptive AI. So it will dial in the appropriate level for you automatically.
It is so great seeing this SIM get some love. Another recommendation would be the WTCR or WTC C cars. I know a lot of people shy away from the front wheel drive cars but they are an absolute blast to drive! I also recommend in the GT three class the C-5 Corvette with the sequential shifter. There are too many car track combinations to recommend. I would also recommend the BMW in the GT 2 class. That is a brilliant car.

R3E is also giving us almost 400Hz of motion data for our DK2 motion system. Really picks up all the details they model into the road/track sometimes. Good stuff.
I really enjoy this channel. More frequent content please! .....BeamNG.....and yes, please more RaceRoom videos, especially the classic cars...a joy to drive AND listen to..
And then it happens... A lazy Saturday afternoon in July, and I actually agree with @kolysion?! Aside from the looks I can't get over anymore, it performs so irratically in VR?! The whole lighting situation always seems off, although the sunset mode is nice. I would play it again with massively better VR performance, but that's not coming so...
oh, hwow!!! I can consistently play your videos at 2x speed and understand you. Probably because you are meticulous and pace your words evenly like feathering your acceleration pedal or trail braking. You are the greatest sound engineer ever! (I would like a boost in the 2k to 5k range for more clarity at 2x speed, but it would be "harsher" sounding at normal speed) I can't fathom how you can pace your enunciation while racing live! You are a talent!
Well worth exploring more of the content buddy and the ranked online system. It’s growing very well and some brilliant servers you can just hop in that change every week.
It really looks outdated on TV or monitor, but it is awesome in VR. I can run it on Pimax combined with 1080TI 50+ FPS on max graphycal settings with 1.5 steam vr supersampling. Everything is simply smooth, sharp and clear on those settings. In combination with good sounds it is my top choice for VR immersion.
R3E is my favorite sim. I've never played a sim where the community gave me such good races on the Nord. Probably every race I end up side by side with someone through the Swedish Cross and never once have I had an accident doing so. Even passing through the foxhole is safe and clean with this community, and I'm talking about at hte point of full compression right before you enter the forest. The best races I've ever had were all on R3E.
Sweet video bro 👍. Glad RaceRoom is stepping it up. Just needs a bit more on the physics definition and we might have a great Sim. You gotta get the buttkicker man. I have one under the seat on my GT-Track. Makes it sooo much more emersive 😁. The kick you feel with every shift is awesome 🤤. See you on track brother. Forever Racing 🏁
Nice video / Review. Pump Up Crewchief and there is an option to turn on otterHud and you will have everything that you need Radar, Relative, Tyre temps, etc and its incorporated in the game you can move around and resize it. Not only that but it will work on VR as well
I really like the new update. I'm still getting used to the new FFB. Tire turn-in is much more responsive now. I like a heavy wheel and I find with this new update the driving feels better but it is not as heavy as the old FFB. I'm using a Logitech G29. I need to keep working with it. I think Raceroom is my favourite sim. It's incredibly enjoyable and the sounds are the best in the business.
Otterhud is a must, just an overlay but it has radar, makes the game look newer and provides loadsss of extra information. Hope to see you in R3E more often.
Great review Ermin. I'm sure you do your research so would know that many of the people behind this title brought us GTR and GTR2, 2 of the best and still better than some current sims when it came to physics and audio. I still go back and play them. It helps me appreciate what advances have been made. I think having a dated platform has worked to their advantage in that they know it intimately and know what graphic limits there are allows them to focus on the driving experience. Very underrated. In my cycle of sims with rF2, AC, ACC. All worthy titles.
Triple screen really makes Racerooom so much better. I had been playing it for years in single screen and when I bought two more 55" screens it completely immersed me in the sim. Being able to look into the corners by turning my head was great. And the screen calibration for triples is nearly perfect. The only thing missing is the ability to independently adjust the height of the side screens, like in Automobilista 2. I have my side screens on separate stands and the floor is slightly tapered, so the left screen is a quarter inch lower and the right side screen is a quarter inch higher than the center screen. Raceroom has gotten a lot better and the sound is second to none.
19:17 a lot of the older gen GT3 have less downforce and higher top speed making them harder to slipstream past. I’d say only racing the current gen GT3 cars with the custom grid option.
Yeah, generally GT3 class as such isn't very tightly BoPed. That's why in ranked it's usually limited to the selection of GT3 cars available in GT Masters packs - those are usually BoPed well as they are used for esports.
Buttkickers (or generic alternatives) are such a no brainer if you like feedback... I have a BK4 Advance under the seat and a smaller mini-CT on the lower back, running using simhub to turn the telemetry into outputs. I can't drive without them! The BK4 does a great job of low RPM bumble and road bumps, while the Mini-CT gives a little gear change clunk and engine strain... I then added a smaller puck on the brake pedal and it gives great ABS vibration.
Great content Ermin. I love what Sector 3 Studios have done with the whole update. You can tell that they have a real passion for racing & this isn't just a game or piece of software to flog off to the public.
Try R3E with otterhud, the hud is also integrated with CrewChief VS using radar. AND DEFINITELY GET 200W+ SHAKER FOR THE SEAT AND 100W SHAKER FOR THE FOOTPLATE
The beauty of RR running an outdated graphics engine, is that it opens up simracing to a wider audience. This is, especially, important in today's market; with GPU's being astronomical in price. I run an RR league, and it's, really, gaining popularity. Hopefully, one day, RR might make it to mainstream, just because it can run on a potato, and still maintains a decent physics engine. It's, really, a great way for newcomers to come into (true) simracing. I feel it's, major, shortcoming is the fact that they give away free. Many folks feel free is low quality. But that's not the case with RR. They live on the DLC's. But even the DLC's are extremely affordable; when compared to iRacing.
Do you have the Clubsport Quick Release for the McLaren rim? I've got a DD on order and I've heard that I may need to upgrade the QR on the rim to prevent pins getting bent all over the place.
You can actually download the Crew Chief mod which gives you spotter callouts and a lot of other callouts. This game basically requires that app. Also, I would suggest you try the 90s DTM cars, those are great fun.
Regarding radar and better ingame HUD overall, look up OtterHUD (thread is on official raceroom forums). It's based on optional WebHUD system released by Sector3 and it's more or less a HUD replacement, fully customizable, including radar, delta bar, absolute and relative timings with all the common color coding, lots of additional info. Something like a more powerful and far more customizable ACC interface.
Quick question might be wrong place to ask but what racing game should I get for PC for use with a controller? Switch from playstation like 2 years ago I use to really enjoy Gran Turismo looking for something close to that.
Ermin - just as a note - A Buttkicker is literally the most transformative bit of kit I’ve added to my setup - well worth the few hundred bucks and the setup time.to have ANY chassis feedback really ups the immersion factor. You miss it immediately without it once you’ve driven with it :) very highly recommended. Also , really appreciate the positivity in your videos as of late; you appear to be trying to temper the cynicism a bit which is excellent. Keep it up, cheers!
Ermin, R3E by sector 3 has a web UI that you are not using. It has radar like Hellicorsa and you can move the applates around the screen like in AC. Bring the UI bang up to date. Just look for the WebDev UI. You will need to put a line in the startup options in steam but its brilliant. Worth the effort. R3E has and is coming on a long way. The team at Sector 3 is small. Look out for Georg Ortner, he has a YT channel and is on the Dev team. Been watching him for years although not lately. Be well mate. IMHO Love me some R3E. I should add you will need to DL the WebUI. Google is your friend. :-)
More like iRacing. Fairly dated graphics engine, strage currency scheme, physics are also questionable when the cars in iRacing after a big crash jump up and down like rubber balls, not to mention when your car flies to the moon
R3E doesn't have radar or spotter built-in, but a lot of players use OtterHUD. I use Crew Chief for spotter, and the Raceroom mini-map as a radar. The AI picks up the pace a bit once you get over 105. Adaptive AI is where it's at, but you need to train it a bit before it gets closer to your level.
@@Ermz I think it works out an AI level based on your average pace. The more often you use adaptive AI the more data you give it, but if you only use one track it will assume you have that pace on other tracks so it's best to train it by using a mix of tracks you're good and not as good on. I found the same method is needed for different cars too. I found myself completely overwhelmed by the AI when i jumped into a faster car than i had trained in.
RACEROOM ITS GETTING STEP BY STEP the performance of RF2, great great Job i always enjoy racing in RR , so sad not too much public servers so we can compete in , its very difficult find a F1 90, GTE or F1 17 or similar servers, and about GT3 which is a great DLC , so few to enjoy, any way RR is DOING GREAT !!
Hey Ermin, could you post your settings for these sims? I too have a DD1 + McLaren V2, and I know many others that do as well. It would definitely be immensely appreciated.
so my question is, does this game feel like an incomplete demo as a base game?, i guess better wording would be, would it be worth playing and gradually getting the extra content over time? i barely scraped the money together for a g29 as is and im getting a frame and logitech shifter soon
hey Ermin awesome video on RR 2, I am considering buying the sim. Quick question, is that a way to remove drivers names to show when racing? a bit distracting to me
What I like about R3E are the number of tracks that are not available anywhere else. I only wish that uniqueness was also present in the car selection. So far it’s the standard racesim selection. Imo they should add more road cars or more unique categories

The AI picks up the pace a bit once you get over 105. Adaptive AI is where it's at, but you need to train it a bit before it gets closer to your level.
Does it have to be trained per-race, or how does it work?
@@Ermz I think it works out an AI level based on your average pace. The more often you use adaptive AI the more data you give it, but if you only use one track it will assume you have that pace on other tracks so it's best to train it by using a mix of tracks you're good and not as good on.
I found the same method is needed for different cars too. I found myself completely overwhelmed by the AI when i jumped into a faster car than i had trained in.
You should Get a but kicker with engine rumble & gear shift effects. So immersive
I'll be doing a video feature specifically on this soon. Stay tuned!
so my question is, does this game feel like an incomplete demo as a base game?, i guess better wording would be, would it be worth playing and gradually getting the extra content over time? i barely scraped the money together for a g29 as is and im getting a frame and logitech shifter soon
the m1 has the m88 straight 6 making more than 400hp on the procar
I got a problem when driving the wtcr cars. I have no brake at all. I have no idea why this happened to me.
Nice. I guess I'm reinstalling and giving it a try.
hey Ermin awesome video on RR 2, I am considering buying the sim.
Quick question, is that a way to remove drivers names to show when racing? a bit distracting to me
Absolutely. It's a simple menu option.
The game is free btw 😉
What I like about R3E are the number of tracks that are not available anywhere else. I only wish that uniqueness was also present in the car selection.
So far it’s the standard racesim selection. Imo they should add more road cars or more unique categories
You should try the group C Porsche, it is imho the best driving experience in the game. Just the sound alone is almost worth it.
You should try the high downforce prototypes like the Porsche 962. Feels so good and destroys your arms like the real car.
An added plus is that the VR implementation is great and this sim in general is not a computer resource hog.
I'll have to see what the formula raceroom 90 feels like after the update
Ohhh early doors!
