Hopefully RaceRoom gets a bit more popular and iRacing takes note. Some friendly competition between sim companies is gonna result in bigger and better updates for the consumer
Exactly. It's good for everyone 😁
I think that ACC is already giving them a punch :P but for me it's not a surprise, you pay once and have a lot of great content. Albo physics, matchmaking etc is great in ACC
iRacing is a rip off - Yes it has the biggest community of racers but bigger doesnt mean better
@@shieldyourselfmusic8567 Personally I disagree. It's definitely expensive but there's a couple ways I justify it. First of it's much cheaper than actually going out racing. A sim racing setup can cost on average 500-3000 on an intermediate level. Look at the guys that run late models and street stocks. They can be spending over 10k on just one car/engine alone. Not to mention it can be destroyed in a single race.
Secondly, if you primarily play iRacing as your main hobby, rather than just something on the side, I think you're able to enjoy the content much better without having to worry about the cost. A couple dollars here and there don't stress me out much when I know it's over the course of a long time, and when It's my main hobby.
Lastly the labor and cost of iRacing to work on the product non-stop and deliver constant updates to us. Whether it's laser scanning or coding. I think they do a great job of it
@@staszyslaw not really ACC lacks on the multiplayer side unfortunately
This is a great channel Dave. Straight racing no bullshit. Respect.
Hey Dave. I’ve personally driven on the track at WGI and was just there all weekend for the IMSA Six Hours. What you’re seeing in this race is EXACTLY what it’s like. 10/10. Thanks for the content. Love it!
Thank you Ryan. The place looks amazing now 😁
@@davecamm Sure does. Only thing you don’t get in the sims are just how massive the elevation changes are. Like a roller coaster. Good run sir.
I can confirm that this is what the Glen looks like now, I was there this past weekend!
iRacing version is as old as dust. Really needs an update.
@@Daz555Daz The director of the track wants iRacing to rescan it. That's how old it is.
I was at the IMSA race this past weekend as well. This version is very accurate!
So make tracks on iracing need updates (see also Road America). But that doesn't bring in the dolla dolla bills yo!
@@regibson23 it does bring in money. iRacing typically retire the old track and then subscribers need to buy the new one when it comes up in a season.
loving the raceroom content. Hope to see more!
Was nice to see you on a Raceroom server. Great driving, keep up the great content!
Hi Dave, great content, Raceroom definitely coming along nicely! Good to see more raceroom content!! 👍
This was epic to watch … great racing Dave. Has inspired me to give raceroom a try 👍
great to see you back on raceroom and enjoying it so much and in a race i can actually relate to as i don't do iracing anymore and i've done a few of these races myself this week. hope you do some more raceroom videos
Great racing Dave , always good to see you back on raceroom
It looked very good Dave.
You had a great race there and the graphics are certainly very good.
Keep them coming.
Ive always wondered about race room...I think after watching this im gonna give it a go!! Thanks Dave great video as always!!
Great video Dave! Glad to see you in RR,, it is my favorite, also love the NSU races, close brilliant racing!
"Apexes are lava". Tremendous sledge. Love your work Dave.
Glad you posted this. Raceroom, and the original Assetto Corsa are my favorite sims.
Great to see the raceroom stuff Dave... Perfect
Nice drive Dave. Great review on the Glen. One of the best combo's yet in RR - not surprised you enjoyed it. Stay safe ;o)
You're quite the gentleman my good Sir. I love your driving style, smooth and clean.
”The only way is up” I do not think it means what you think it means. :P Amazing racing again. The best to watch! Thanks Dave!
RaceRoom has been brilliant of late I have been very impressed with it Dave that was one hell of a race to watch
I love your passion for simracing Dave. As an older bald guy myself I can really relate to you. Great content as always.
Absolutely love your vids! keep the nice work up!
Awesome racing Dave, your confidence in throwing the car at the gaps is just unbelievable. Also Borja -> Bor-hah :)
I totally agree with your idea about Practice Servers. Get on this Sector 3.
I've been subscribed for over a year so I've watched a lot of races on the channel. This is one of, if not the best race I've seen. Maybe not in terms of a close finish, but between the great looking track and all the clean overtakes, this was the most entertaining imo. I really hope to see more Raceroom on the channel very soon..
Thank you Devin 😁
"He'll think I'm a knob, flashing my lights."
Well said.
And I'm pretty sure the fuel is in gallons.
great overtaking, very smart
Great driving. Amazing looking track!!
Great race… beautiful track.
God damn it dave. Am now well and truly into Raceroom love it
Love this sim. The tyre wear simulation is really good and the collision psysics are better than in ACC.
Nice driving Sir!
I found this video after having fired up Raceroom for the first time in possibly a year last night. I was struck by how much better it feels and indeed looks, despite the dated engine. I'll definitely be giving the GT3s a spin at The Glen after this. Thanks Dave.
Great channel Dave been watching awhile- Thanx for Your time and Great Content👍
Great video, Dave. Looks like you had a good time. I think the cars in RaceRoom feel good. They all seem to have realistic levels of grip and graphics are good. Ranked races usually have a decent number of participants but I wish they had more! Your connection seems better than mine. I see some cars glitching and bouncing around here in the US. Your opponents cars seem pretty stable. Hopefully this improves in time.
Dave really like your channel, I had to try RaceRoom after watching your video and iracing had better watch out... I was really impressed, thanks for the videos.
Omg your raceline is soooo good 💪
Nice video. I love the tracks on this game. Some are so detail. And i love how clean ppl are due to the less IR matter. Also lack of spotter in base game make people really cautious on overtake. its refreshing! Love the fact you can have whatever GT3 you like too. As a big fan of mercedes SLS i'm glad i can still use it and compete :p
Black spot, baseline are not that good and i m crap at making setups. So i struggle a lot with my cars and i can't find some people doing setups. While on iracing i'm used to drive with my buddies and they made good setup. Or on ACC aggressive and then just touch tires, maybe duct tape, wing but its ok ish.
Great video Dave. I really like the look of this Race room game. Looks really good and detailed. I may have to invest. 👍
that was a nice race to watch. I did my first online race in VR with this combo in Raceroom. Totally blow me away. Welcome to the Raceroom fanclub 😅👍
Best VR sim
Agree with you about the practice servers. Great idea 💡
Raceroom has the most accurate version of Watkins Glen love going there just wish we could race there more often.
“I’ll just do that then shall I” 😂😂 epic pass man
Well I thought that was brilliant. Everything looks and sounds fantastic.
More raceroom!!!!! Yeahhhh!
I agree with you RR is fantastic in Watkins Glen. I have been in RR since the very beginning and they I’m-rove this simulator every time. It feels great. I get distracted from it, but when I come back every time feels better.
I never played iRacing, but Dave's frequent commentaries about the stark visual differences of Watkins Glen between R3E and iRacing made me do a google video search to see. Good lord man! The difference is staggering! While I personally find that R3E looks a bit outdated overall (especially when comparing to ACC or Rennsport for instance), iRacing takes top prize for bottom of the barrel graphics (though I hear the tire model is up there)! I have read comments across the interwebs regarding iRacing's graphics being kept deliberately low key so the game runs fast. I think many rim racers expect iRacing to get into gear and revamp the hell out of its graphics engine. Not sure what iRacing's official stance is on the matter (if any), but at some point, you'd think that a graphics overhaul would absolutely need to be done (when or if ever is anyone's guess I suppose). Makes me appreciate R3E's graphics all the more. It's a truly underrated sim IMO and does deserve more recognition and success!
Good review.
I had stopped playing RR but have come back to it now and enjoying it.
Fantastic sim racer, great contents
Thank you mate, that's very kind 😁
I grew up in Upstate New York, been to Watkin's Glen a few times. If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend a trip to visit. The town is more than just a race circuit and Upstate New York is a beautiful place to see (when its not covered in snow). Plus if you like wine, there are a bunch of wineries in the area.
98% consistency was +/- 1.5s .. you can make a server with the included server software...whack up force feedback for realism if tone it down it tones down everything, or can reduce force linearity a bit as if you were using a weaker wheel to account for the reduced force overall. I am loving the new FFB and watkins glen 15min hustles too :) the effects are great, sparks flying off LMP cars in front on kerbs is breathtaking
wow really good racing
Race room is great. A hidden gem to be honest. Just need to get more content to get more races.
RR is massively underrated. Cheers.
That is because it was outdated for the price. It isn't any longer!
@@theonlylolking Well, I must say I disagree. I've played RR for years for free, except for 3 cars i've bought, so the price question isn't really an issue. As for the "outdated" , I can't agree either, since the game is constantly updated (see the ver. updates logs). I've been playing Iracing, rF2 and RR for several years and I still think RR is quite underrated. Cheers.
If you like the track and the cars, you can have a shot tomorrow evening at the weekly 2 hour race, which will be using the same combo. Your rating would allow you to participate in the middle split (silver server).
Great content as always. I’d love to see a video on how to setup triples for raceroom, AC, etc. iracing makes it so simple. I don’t understand why it isn’t for these other games.
Raceroom has become my favourite sim in recent months :)
I was on iracing today, like you say it does need a revamp Race room is the best at the moment.
Great race, I need to wait for a sale to get premium content package for Raceroom.👍
wow the graphics are way better. it even the seems the drivers are different to almost like a better class hopefully it catches on to more people
Dave! i must recommend the NSU TTS ranked race at suzuka its an absolute blast! they are a little bit slow but the racing action is superb.
Thanks Dave, I have noticed you've been spending some time with Raceroom. Good fun. Many comments below are turning into Sim vs Sim. I will be honest here. I have always been and still a huge Raceroom fan. Used to be a typical "fanboy". This fanboy thing was pulling me towards the darkside. I realised why not being honest and free as in admitting what is great and what is not so great about my favorite sim and share with others. That being said, I admire iRacing in so many ways. Love and hate. In terms of FFB, iRacing has been improved so much. The road surface looks fantastic, online system top notch, sounds brilliant but the background graphics and car interior are horrible. This puts me off a lot. Not looking for fancy graphics but iRacing looks terrible except for the actual race track surface. Expensive for sure. Raceroom is known for its superb sounds, smooth sharp graphics and performance, great new FFB, excellent UI, so much fun racing AI plus much more. Unfortunately, it has always been a black sheep among other sim racing titles plus an online system still sucks, not many online racers and still in development. Not expensive in comparison. I have all other sim racing titles and none of them are my cup of tea. Need to try Dirt2 since they have triple screen support.
Literally got into Sim Racing on PC the other day and got Raceroom straight away coz of you love the vids. Although you HUD looks so different to mine. 😁🤔
I use Otterhud. Just search and you'll find it 👍
yes - i love the graphics detail over iRacing and the "feel" is much better
And people say Raceroom’s graphics is extremely outdated. I really don’t understand them. Are you into the sim racing for graphics or realism? I mean the engine sounds, the suspension creaks, the bump impact - everything feels so real in this game. Really love it. 😍
“Apex is lava” 😂😂😂
_¡Híjole!_ I don't know if I'd want to go around a guy who's understeering on the _outside._
Great race.
Yeah man, Watkins Glen is the shit. Try going round in the DTM2020 & Ford GT1, its heaven
Dave, Chevy are American cars, so the fuel indicator onboard is obviously in gallons. :) Next to it you have your estimated laps range. And on your HUD, next to the speedometer, you had your fuel gauge in liters, so you had over 20 liters of fuel onboard when you finished the race and used over 3 liters per lap.
THIS IS HOW THE Nascar 2003 Watkins Glenn looked.
Again amazing race. How does it compare to gt3 of other sims if you tried it on any other track spa perhaps with acc.
Great race. Fuel is most likely in gallons instead of liters.
Looks fantastic! Should be an advertisement clip for R3R. I´m maling my first steps in this sim, coming from AMS2. On which servers can i find these daily races?
Hi Dave, great vid as always. I’m having trouble setting up my DD1, essentially it’s not being recognised. I believe this is the case for many folks. Any tips?
I agree with you Dave on the level of detail but the lighting doesn't feel right. Especially the specular on the cars. It seems to be coming from a different direction than the sun angle with not enough break up and is too broad. Sort out the lighting and I agree it would look incredible!
Nice play on Raceroom Dave!! Could you please make a video showing your Settings for Wheel, pedals and force feedback, will be very helpful, I struggle a lot to setup my Fanatec wheel, to get good experience. Thanks.
Consistency is the variation in laptimes. (or lack of variation to be more precise)
Hi Dave, @19:40 talking about triple screens, is nvidia surround necessary?
Will you be posting your new ffb settings since the update? I have the same setup as you and generally find them to fit my style. Would love to know, thanks!
Really making me look at RaceRoom… hmm. Great Video Dave!
It’s free so why not
@@boogityboogity7633 Well, only a small part of its content. Neither Watkin's Glen or the GT3 are free. 😉
@@MrYussut true but you can test drive all cars for free so you can see if it’s something you like and worth buying
@@boogityboogity7633 Right, and since the latest update, you can have a test drive at any of the free tracks, including Sepang and Portimao in any of their variants.
Gt3 racing in almost every game well gt3 and gt4 racing is my absokute favorite great balance imo of everything haha
Underpowered, too efficient aero, too many assistants sucking away the fun of driving, disconnected feel of the car compared to other series... I probably will NEVER understand why these GT3's are so popular in Sim Racing.
The setup to pass Zazo was epic.
Thanks Martin 😁
This game is amazing.
Hey Dave, great drive. Would love to know some of your settings. I have a pretty high end PC etc but can't seem to get rr optimised and it stutters at times, worse online, cars so.etimes wobble and the fr seems off. Other games I run on max and hey look so much better and run smoother with more cars. I'm trying to tweak....
I think consistency is a measurement between your fastest and slowest lap time.
I know you've always been an iRacing man, it would be interesting to know your opinion on GT3 racing between ACC and Race Room.
iracing needs to update a lot of tracks. Go into IMSA this week and see how bad Canadian tire looks. Its like a ps2 game
@Antonino Sammarco yeah for the FTW. Getting pushed a little bit and your car is unrecoverable
Yes iRacing on a very old version of WGI. I raced there in 2017 and the iRacing version is older than that
I agree raceroom is perhaps a bit underrated. I recently rediscovered it (thanks to you or other tuber) and was pleasantly surprised. But there is one area where, just like many other titles, it will suffer. I have had several fun races with nice close and decent online batlles in available public servers over the past few weeks. But this week I am ashamed to admit I complete lost it in a race on laguna seca in the dtm-like car, cant remember the name the car has in RR. That has never happened to me in the 10-15+ years i have been racing online in all kinds of sim(like) titles. I by no means consider myself to be very fast but I tend to have a decent pace and often manage to be pretty consistent. I had not practiced with the car or laguna , just wanted to have a quick fun race to kill some time. With Kill becoming the dominating word. After Q unsurprisingly found myself just about midpack of the full lineup. In public servers I do not expect and accept that the racing will not always be the highest of quality. So expected this to be a bit dodgy but this became my worst online experience ever. During the first few laps I already got punted a couple of times , mostly when just at turn in point for first corner. It is annoying but in public servers there is always a chance less fun things will happen and I accept that as a fact. After a couple of laps the initial crazy dust settled down a bit. I had passed several of those not knowing or able to stay close to driving lines ending up of track or in a wall . Did so not by being quick but simply staying on track. As I had to take a lot of evasive actions simply trying to keep alive I was still in the mid pack but I am fine with that as long as I find someone about the same pace and can have a fun race. Found such a spot and had just started a nice clean fight with two or three guys for position. Just when I was starting to enjoy the close battle things turned bad again. While we were having the battle and some good overtakes on both sides several consecutive laps some of us inclduing me got "punterinood" in turn one again. For several laps my reaction was limited to "sigh"/"really"/"why dude". But when it happened for the Xth time in a row when I had just managed to do a clean overtake on the straight after a nice exit from last turn I completely lost it and went berserk. I took out the guy that punted me that instance for the next three corners . Simply wanting to make sure he did not get a chance to get near another car again in this race. I dropped out of the session right after that and was so gutted that I have not touched RR yet since.I do not even know if the one I took out just was just an unlucky guy that had one bad decision when he hit me or if he was one of those that consitantly make having fun in public servers so terribly hard at times. I know there is no justification for me going full mad max, but when once you reach that point all sanity simply stops.
Now why this long rant? Question for you Dave. I love what you are doing with you channel and in particular really enjoy watching the close battles right on the edge but still most are very clean, just like they should be. But.....did or do you have similar experiences on public servers and do yoy think RR is better or worse than other titles in this respect? This race made me go back to GTR2 era where online public racing was a thing to avoid at all cost if you were looking for a nice clean fight. I know the RR rating system is supposed to help with this type of issues, but while you are still in let's say the lesser/worst behaving regions of hell it at times can be impossible to have a clean decent race to improve your rating. To me this starts to feel a like a catch 22 kind of thing. What is you take on this?
I hear what your saying and we all have a breaking point.
From my limited experience with RR the racing is definitely better when there is a higher reputation requirement. The NSU and Shadow series are very hit and miss although they are great fun when you get lucky. My advice would be similar to iracing, race clean, don't think about finishing position and gain the reputation to race the other hourly servers. 👍
@@davecamm , I never mind finish position , just looking for close racing. I can equally enjoy when somebody makes a sound pass at me as from making one myself. As to clean racing there is only so such you can do yourself. But as RR being a potential affordable alternative for iracing I did only buy the starter pack and I think many starting simmers will do so. That means being limited in available public servers and those will likely end up to be the ones you might want to avoid. But being an addict I will not be able to resist trying again :). But unfortunatly for RR it might mean I will still mosty stick with private league (rf2) racing. And not to make this like I am trying to do some RR bashing, let me repeat that I did have some really good fun clean races in the rookie servers. The issue with public/rookie racing is and will be of all time and titles.
@@GeePeeSterRace Unfortunately, in the raceroom rookie servers it can be quite hard to have a good race, as there may be drivers who are not able (or maybe even not willing) to drive clean by any means.
What I would recommend: Do 3 or 4 ranked races on the rookies, where your only goal is to avoid any contact/incidents. Don't set a valid lap in quali, so you start at the back. Watch the turn 1 massacre from a distance from behind and drive not fast but safely to the end of the race. Overtake only cars that have crashed or that really drive predictable. Whenever someone comes from behind and looks like going to divebomb, just get out the way. And so on, you get th point.
After some very few races like this (3 or 4 I guess), you reputation points (=safety rating) will be way above 80. And with reputation over 80, you can join the non-rookie ranked races, where you usually don't find too crazy drivers and (most of the time) the racing standard is quite good.
@@jorn-jorenjorenson5028 , thanks and like a mentioned I probably wiil give it another go. I mainly made the comment because I DID have several real fun races in the rookie servers. I suppose I just got my hopes up to high thinking that by now in general also driving in rookie servers had improved or that RR really had that covered somehow. What I mostly feel bad about is that some of the races in rookie servers (in whatever title) still can leave such a wrong/bad impression of simracing. In particular for new simracers this could be a reason not to pick up simracing any further, so a lost chance. See you on track one day perhaps:)
Cool overlays, they´re not from R3E right? Where did you get them?
It was nice racing you Dave! I really struggled though with the front left overheating. How did you managed that?
Not sure. Luck I guess 😁
came from iRacing one month ago. Have much more fun in Raceroom. Pro: FFB, physics, sound, ranked Con: DX9 graphics, damage, boring replays, no costum liveries
Hey dave love the content keep up the good work! is it hard to get triples working with Raceroom ? im not using NVidia surround
I'm not sure. I'm using surround and haven't tried it without
re: Fuel - your HUD overlay is showing liters while the dash was showing gallons.
good content! Do you mind sharing where you got those extra hud widgets? i've been searching for a while but i can not find any :(
It's a small progrm called Otterhud 👍
How do you get the pedal inputs on screen like that
Hey Dave 8-) would luv to see you heel and toe with manual clutch in RR, Im ok in other sims but in RR i always end up destroying the gearbox dont know if it is the sim or if i have poor technique, would be great to have your thoughts or see it in action.
Raceroom is definitely getting better and bettrer for me its better than assetto, much better than iracing and just about to be as good as Rfactor2 , the FFB was great , now its even better, the handling , physics etc great Job RaceRoom
Hey Dave, just a little question. The relative and standings, are those an overlay or are these on Raceroom itself? Because I have never seen them earlier. The Glen looks amazing on Raceroom 😍
Overlay by CrewChief
@@shaunzulu4591 thx Shaun 😉
@@birger8041 the overlay is otterhud. you can set it up within crewchief so it starts when crewchief starts

how you display throttle brake and speed in bottom right? where in the settings should i look for?
It's an overlay called Racelabs 👍
