    Great video buddy. I can't make my self try anything else because my swarm fusion gen2 loves the crossman premier hollow points. I have watched so many vids and can't justify paying more for other pellets when these tear ragged holes. LOL that's why I bought 10,000 of them. Again great job.

      They are great for target practice. Problem with the Premiers is that they don't expand well. For hunting they dump very minimal energy upon contact. And will pass right through barriers!
      H&N has terrific accuracy and great prices at $10 for all tins except the specialty pellets!

    It is an excelent pellet testing the one that you performed onto your Gamo Swarm Magnum rifle. I liked the conclusion that you arrived: the "domed" or almost "domed" pellets work better with your rifle Gamo Swarm Magnum. By the way, I am surprised about the behaviour of the Gamo Raptor PBA pellet, since the manufacturer advertises that this pellet is accurate and fast enough, now I realize that maybe the reason of not being accurate is because of it´s low weight, and once the pellet is traveling through the air, it becomes deviated from its trajectory. Thanks for your video and best regards.

      The raptors go supersonic in the Gamo magnums. When they slow down below supersonic, the waves it created catch up to it and push it all over. It's like going full throttle in a boat then suddenly cutting the fuel. The wave catches up and pushes the bow off course.

The Gauntlet is a pcp but the other 3 are break barrel and they all do really good with the Crosman premier 14.3 grain pellets, no matter hollow, round or pointed, they shoot them pretty much the same. All of my guns group about the same as yours did with the Crosman but my Fusion likes the Gamo red fire just a little bit more. I was shooting 35 yards and blowing holes through 11".16 pine board on both my bone collector 22 cal. 14.66 grains And my old gamo 220 hunter springer those were at 20 yards on my springer also with copper domes 8.80 grains both bye H&N BUT I SEE CROSSMAN HAS THE SAME PELLET FOR WAY CHEAPER AND THERE ALL COPPER NOT PLATED H&N ARE PLATED WHICH IS OK TOO! I HAVEN'T TRIED ANY ALLOYS OTHER THAN COPPER ! THE ALLOYS ARE WAY FASTER BUT I FEEL THEY WOULD WORK BETTER OUT OF A SINGLE BREAK BARRELS FOR THE MOST PART! I tried lead 22 cal. Exite bye h&n they were pretty good 15.76 grains but the h&n barracuda 18.52 grains shot good pattern but didn't penetrait like i thought they would only pellet deep and maybe twice that in some areas but the copper works the best on multiple shot mags spike or dome! I was wondering what pellets would be best to shoot with my magnum now I have some options but ammo is hard to find in. 22 cal. Even online everything is out of stock. I have three Gamo air rifles now and the crosman premiers hollow points-14.3 gr and the rugers super points 17.5 gr seem to shoot well at least in my Swarm whisper and my Swarm Hunter but I didn't know what was going to do it for the Magnum. It's been a while since I watched this video but I keep coming back to it because it is so practical.
    If you have a bunch of light pellets and use them exclusively in the weaker Gamo Whisper can you season a barrel to "like" it more? Or would you just use it for close in shots sub 30 yards? Those pellets have to be good for something. It doesn't make sense that Gamo would invest and develop a pellet that shoots fast but isn't accurate in any of its rifles. There has got to be some practical application.
    Would you do a video specifically addressing this question as to what distance a light weight pellet can be used to get adequate penetration and accuracy out of a lower powered rifle? Maybe out of a pump gun like a cheap Crosman 1322 or 392 where the power can be easier to manipulate/regulate. I know that it at least works in .177 with my Crosman 1377. But I have no lower powered .22 rifles or pistols and thought you might have more success with the Whisper or a 1322, 392 if you have one.
    Anyway, thanks again for your very excellent pellet review and evaluation.
    Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

    • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  Před rokem +2

      @Ken Fan I’d say once you have a barrel “broken in”, 50 shots at least, it is shooting as good as it will. Pellet rifle, centerfire, rimfire, it just doesn’t seems to matter. Every gun likes different bullets/pellets and there is no rhyme or reason. Even two of the same guns from the same manufacturer may like different brand and weight pellets.
      The penetration test with lighter pellets is a good idea. I will put that on my list for potential future videos. Thank you and God bless!

The crosman premier match grade .177 cal. 7.9 gr, was getting 1/2" - 3/4" at 15 yards and the trigger on the Gamo Varmint. is the worst trigger I have ever shot. Have a Gamo Replay 10X Magnum IGT .22 cal on its way hopping the trigger is better on it, Also had to change the scope on the Gamo Varmint it was use less, Do not know why they would even put a garbage scope on a rifle like that. I would like to see some shooting flat points on paper, as I have found them group the best in other air rifles I have had. The little bet of weight difference makes a huge difference on penetration. Shooting a 1" spruce board the 7.45 gr. flat points would not even come close to going through but the 7.9gr. went clean through every time. If they go through a 1" board they should kill a squirrel no problem.

      @@HuntShootLive Just out of curiousity, since you do a lot of hunting, if you focus on head shots but miss the brain, are you more likely to kill the animal with a heavier grain pellet or a lighter grain pellet? I would think that a lighter grain pellet would cause more hydrostatic shock and the heavier pellet would be more likely to pass through. And where do you aim for broadside headshots? In front of the ear, behind the ear, or right in the ear?
      Also, have you tried washing pellets with Dawn dish washing liquid? And does it have a considerable affect on accuracy? I've never done it before but have come across a couple of videos that suggest it does.

      @@kenfan5666 Heavier, slower pellets release more energy into the target upon contact, mushrooming and creating a bigger wound channel. Faster moving pellets retain more energy, usually increasing the chances of a pass through or even bouncing right off if using too light of a weight PBA. The key is don't go too light or too heavy, you want to find the right balance. You need one heavy enough to take what ever you are targeting, but you want to maintain enough velocity to penetrate the scull. Most important is find a pellet that your gun shoots accurately enough that you are confident that you can put it where it need to be every time. Most small game will drop as long as you hit it in the head. Pigs and coyote size animals are where hitting the brain is critical.

    • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  Před 2 lety +1

      @Ric Havic The magnum is good for a break barrel pellet rifle. It shoots several of the inexpensive options fairly well. Rifle ballistics decrease in cold weather because cold air is more dense so I assume it would be slower in cold weather. I did a video testing the velocity of this and the swarm whisper and was underwhelmed compared to their advertised speed. Check out my pellet rifle playlist for that one. It is still good for break barrel though. PCP is better I’m sure. I like the swarm whisper for the price to performance. The swarm whisper is also a little more enjoyable to shoot due to decreased recoil. The magnum is still shooting just as well though since I did this vid.
