Gamo has so many options... what is the difference? Is there a difference?!?! In this video, I lay out the specs side by side and compare.

Great job on this comparison! Here is a few things I can add. The Mach1 piston is a 33mm diameter piston which has been available in the Magnum rifles and the Whisper Fusion rifle for 10+ years. The Mach1 piston is a larger diameter than their original 28 mm piston. The Mach1 power is available at different levels by using a shorter to longer compression length. This increases cocking effort. The Swarm is the multi shot loading system and like you stated, it comes in 3 versions. Original, Gen 2, and Gen 3i. You always do a great demonstration!
@gmanneod8085 Thanks for sharing the info!
@@HuntShootLive thanks for clarifying, in Suisse I searched the Swarm Magnum but I find only the Magnum replay, which I own now. It was a very interesting video. Also the difference in power iis substantial.
Thank you, you saved me from buying the gen 3i, I have the gen 2 and I am very happy with it.
I appreciate you sharing this information and I enjoy your channel very much. 😃
@charless8641 I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Thanks for clearing some of this up. Seems that Gamo has so many different names for these air rifles and I could not figure out the difference in the noise dampening systems each one has.
The best so far. Been watching and trying to find some numbers but this hits the spot
@Dev_Chahal Thank you! Here is my newest video with some updated chrono numbers on the Gen 3i magnum.
czcams.com/video/RqIu8QmhIRk/video.html
Thank you for this video. I have the swarm gen3i,I just bought my girlfriend the gen 2 whisper. I love it. Thank you for the numbers. You are right, not much difference except the price. I've not cronegraf yet, but they say 1300 fps and 26 pounds of knock down power. Your numbers are interesting and I appreciate those. Thanks
@richardwarren4879 I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I hope you all enjoy your pellet rifles. Shoot safe!
I think you are spot on. Thanks for the video and happy shooting.
@echampine Thank you for watching and for the comment!
Thanks! I think you are probably right, numbers do not lie!
I recently got a swarm whisper gen1 in .22 caliber. So far I really enjoy it. It doesnt seem to be loud at all. We have a house in rural Upstate NY with a ground hog, squirrel and chipmunk problem.
When I sighted it in I only needed to come down like 5 clicks. Now she is a laser beam out to 45yds. Pretty consistent groups as well. Much further than that the group gets bigger.
The chipmunks and squirrels didnt stand a chance and I dont see them in the garage anymore going for the bird seed cans. The ground hog on the other hand is a smart elusive creature. Its like he senses me coming around the barn where he hangs out. Havnt got him in my crosshairs yet.
Can you recommend a good aftermarket air rifle scope with a peg that fits? The eye relief on the stock one is poo. And I would like a adjustable zoom. Thanks for the videos. Lots of great informative content on your channel.
@MrGoldenMoose Thank you! I’m glad you find the content helpful. Regarding scopes, Check out this video I did if you haven’t already.
czcams.com/video/hba1eYulUk8/video.html
I review which companies say you can and cannot use on a pellet rifle.
As for my recommendations, I haven’t put anything major on mine. Have CVlife scopes on a few. Seem to be good little inexpensive scopes. I have an old bushnell or similar on my whisper.
Thanks for saying what needs to said . 100% agree .
Thanks for chopping through the weeds...Great video, God bless you too
@thesplitwood I’m glad you enjoyed the content. Thank you for watching and for the comment!
Thanks for sharing the good info man! You addressed a lot really pertinent info! I'd still love to see a penetration test between the magnum and the 'non magnum' pellet rifles. I'm just still so curious.. Did I take a huge hit on what kind of game I can take down by not going with the magnum? Like you alluded to, at the end of the day when I want performance above any of these I'll just break out the 22LR or something... Would be super cool to know if my Gamo Swarm Viper .22 will do an effective brain shot/penetration on a coyote :p but yah, I have other guns for that.. would just be cool to know.
This is the third great and informative video of yours in a row today I have come across. Looks like you've earned my subscription :)
@perrys5954 Im glad you found it helpful. And thank you for the sub!
I currently own the Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 1 and Gen 3 as well. I felt some need to upgrade. So, going from the Gen 1 to the Gen 3. Was it worth it? 330 dollars for the Gen 3 at Cabelas. Well, I must say the Gen 3 is a better feed system and no double feeds but then again, I never double fed on the gen 1 cuz I paid attention to what I was doing. Overall a Gen 3 better gun but not by much. If I could, would I do it over, would I ? NO. The Gen 1 was a fine gun and still is. Dont get me wrong the Gen 3 Magnum is a great gun and I love it and I will keep it, but there just was not enough there to make it worth the upgrade.
@chuckleskie Thanks for sharing about the gen1! had no experience with it.
Amen brother I have the 2017 Gen1 Maxxim , flawless so far, same as Viper with a few upgrades . Do I need the New Viper ? Nah . 🤔
Good info, thanks for posting.
@bphilbac I’m glad you found it helpful. That’s for watching and for the comment!
Dang! Golley gee dang! ...dad gum dang! Hot diggity dog dang! ...but he's right. These are the same power plants in different stocks with different noise handling features. The Swarm Viper Gen3! and the Swarm Evo Gen3i are the same except for the details on the stocks. They shoot well which surprised me and the 10 shot magazines have worked flawlessly. Impressive! The Magnum in any stock is a beast! 900fps with 14.3gr lead pellets. But 41ft/lbs cocking effort is a beast. Dang! ...it's beast! Gamo customer service is really good. Good enough to get me to take the time to write this. Cheers Mr. Hunt hoot Live! R, Steve behind them dang enemy lines here on the left coast. :) Oh, but it bothers me to not have iron sights; scopes fail.
@steveninla8963 Yeah, they do some creative marketing with very little product change to make some major money. And you are definitely right about the iron sights. Better to have in case they are needed. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Hello! Very good video. Can you please make a video and more different ballistic gel pellets? I have a gamo black cat 1400 .177 and can't decide if I should buy the .177 or the .22 (I won't be hunting with it). And another question. Are these magnums stronger in the US than in the EU at full power? And should I prefer gen 2 over gen 3? Tested the .22 gen 2 at a friend's today. I tested it with various specialty pellets like Elko GREEN EXPRESS Diabolo 0.67g, exploding pellets Kvintor Diabolo FLASH and Metalmags. Then I shot equivalent pellets like these out of my black cat 1400 and for example the .177 exploding Kvintor Phantom pellets did very little damage while the .22 Flash went through a 2cm wooden plate and nearly did a 2mm aluminum plate. Elko were completely insane. It shot through a 2 cm wooden board and then another. With the aluminum plate, it went like a knife through butter.
@worldofi Thank you for the comment and for watching! I can't speak for other manufacturers but Gamo 177 and 22 are made with the same internal piston system. Which means the 22 is going to be much slower than the 177. It is pushing a larger pellet with the same internal components as the 177. So, for Gamo, I would go with the 177 over the 22. Check out my air rifle playlist on the channel for many other reviews including a comparison with Gamos from other countries.
I appreciate the comparison, I was actually looking for it and you deliver it right on, thank you very much. I'm surprised though that you deem the Gen2 practically the same as the Gen3, being the latter significantly more powerful?
@jotabk Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the content!
The gen 3 is not more powerful. It is the exact same propulsion system as the gen 2. The loading system is supposedly improved though it doesn’t really seem to be other than being visually different.
I have the whisper 22 and DX 22 thanks to you on the great deal lol and also mags gen 3s 177 and 22
As always i love the attention to detail i believe you hit the mark concerning the gen 2 and 3 i have the gen 2 magnum in 22 andthe only difference is the iron sites i have vs not on gen3 what i will say is i keep getting conflicting reports on the ft lbs of energy concerning the 2 i hit for around 29ft lbs with the diablos, the h&n hornets and the gamo lethals and rockets can you doa video with that or maybe ft lbs between gen2 magnum in 22 and gen 3 magnum 177
@jibrilsaifulah8184 Thank you!

@HuntShootLive thanks I use the one on Google
Great video did a great job which one do you think I should get for backyard Pest Control
@scottwilcox6741 I recommend none of these as a first choice. The Gamo Arrow is my favorite. Check out my air rifle playlist for a few videos on the arrow. If you insist on getting a break barrel, I like the swarm whisper the best.
Thanks a lot I will look into the Gamo Arrow
So I own a gen 2 swarm whisper fusion in 22 cal. I thought when the viper came out and it used the Gen 3i mags. And it wasn’t magnum. That I would try a gen 3 mag in my gen 2. And so far it has worked just fine.
@travispowell2471 Yeah, I believe a lot of the advertised improvements are exaggerated.
@@HuntShootLive well what I thought was cool. Is now my gen 2 works like the gen 3 with the inertia advancing mag.
good job! i just order Mag Replay 22
Just one correction Magnum gen3i is also rated 45 Jules as gen2, not 50.
I just purchased directly from Gamo what they are calling the Swarm Power 10x GEN2 .22 cal. I haven’t been able to find any information on this, but it has the same specs as the gen2 magnum…
@SeditiousSensei I think many of the releases over the last few years are just slight cosmetic changes to get more sales with little functional difference.
I agree 100%
I’m looking at getting my first Gamo…which would recommend to a first buyer with a $200-$250 budget.
@gagunshooting803 Between the ones in this video I would pick the Swarm Whisper. Very enjoyable to shoot. My overall recommendation would be the Gamo Arrow pcp. PCP is so much more fun to shoot than a break barrel. Check out my pellet rifle playlist for a couple videos on the Arrow.
@@HuntShootLive Great thanks for the response
I am in Australia, and went in to buy a magnum , then when I seen the replay magnum,I was confused,I thought they were old stock,
But your video cleared it up for me,and I bought the replay with gen 2,
The magazine is sits a lot higher ,,is the only difference I can see,
So I still need to be careful not to double cock it,,is this correct,,as it’s not inertia fed.?,and can still double chamber a round ?
@DaveTheDasher77 I’m glad the video was helpful for you. I’m not sure about the double loading. Gamo is very responsive to email. Perhaps you could email and ask them.
@@HuntShootLive
Turns out I have the gen 1,,can’t get the gene or 3 in Australia,
I was confuse at first why the magazine was vertical and not horizontal
@@DaveTheDasher77 Oh dang! Thats crap.
@@DaveTheDasher77I'm in Australia also, looking for a Gamo Magnum in .22.
The swarm isn't available here and looks like the replay is gen 1 😢. Gutted I want the noise suppression if the swarm and gen 2 magazine.
Not sure what to get now.
Are you still happy with your purchase?
Best price I found on the replay is about $550, how did you go with price?
Cheers mate 👍

Yes mate happy enough with it,
There is a model that we can get here that has gen 2,it’s called roadster storm IGT
What state are you in
Great video with great information thanks greetings from 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
@Relaxbadkneeadventures Thank you!
@@HuntShootLive yes very usefull still thinking of buying a gamo break barrel in the future. I have 2 hatsan breakbarrels and other airrifles and pistols. My favorite is my post war diana model 2 air pistol she is a sweet underpowered sexy little pistol haha have a great sunday greetings from a hot 🥵 🇳🇱🇳🇱
@@Relaxbadkneeadventures It’s rainy and feels like spring here. Oddly cooler weather this summer.
I hear a lot of good about Diana but never shot one.
Thanks again! Shoot safe!!!
Gen2 load a pellet everytime you brake the barrel. Gen3 can only load one pellet
Hi hunt shoot live I just wanted you if you could for my sake honestly is the gamo swarm Magnum gen3i any better then the gamo swarm Magnum gen 2 because I have found a good deal on it if you could please help me thank you 👍
@jdrums5555 In my opinion, if the gen 2 hasn’t been shot much and is in good condition, go for it.
Hey i suggest you do a video of the gamo swarm magnum in 22 vs a ballistic head i think that would be very interesting i cant find a video on that test i mean if its not too much to ask 😂
@alfonsogonzalez2099 Would love to but those are crazy expensive!
@@HuntShootLive i shouldve thought about that first huh 😅 ima look for the price lets see how much but that wpuld be pretty sick though
Should I get the gamo swarm dx or gamo swarm viper? Are the magazines that much better. Get a 3 year warranty with the viper, only 1 year with dx.
@RpMcMurphy_ I’m not familiar with the dx. Stats look a lot like the viper. I guess if the warranty is that much better with the viper that seems like a solid choice.
@@HuntShootLive
Yeah I have neither at the moment so the viper looks great. If I had the whisper or dx I probably wouldn’t get the viper, but I do not. Have a good one.
Speed of sound is 1125 fps (340 ms). If you shoot a pellet faster than that you will break the sound barrier… and the shot will be louder. Voila
I just brought the replay magnum gen2 in New Zealand, the shop told me I can’t shoot Gamo red fire pallets or any pointed pallets as the mag apparently dose not support pointed ammo and only supports rounded or hollow points , is this true?
@Antswatkins I can't say for certain but I did include Gamo's email response to me about the Replay vs the Swarm Mag. They said same rifle. My Swarm Magnum shoots all kinds of pointed pellets just fine including the red fires. They are inexpensive so I guess you could just buy some and give it a try. If you do that, please let me know if they work.
Thanks, I’ll give them a try and let you know
GEN 3 load pellet from the vibrations of the fired pellet ! NO DOUBLE LOADING !
Nice video man, thanks for the info. They try to fool us with their damn market sales. Whatever company does such things seems that they are desperate to sell... If a company is to bring a new model, then it better be upgraded in some sectors. Do not play with brand names and Generations. People is gonna make fool of you Gamo...
@panagiotisafendoulidis268 I'm glad you found the video helpful. Most people don't take the time to research and compare. I guarantee there are many different people out there who have several of these models and just bought the new one and don't even pay attention to the fact that they are all basically the same.
@@HuntShootLiveThat is true indeed. I was temped to buy it too.
Does the magnum gen 3 have a plastic trigger? Or do both of them have plastic trigger?
@Ripperx121 It does have a plastic trigger. I don’t have a problem with that but I don’t like the weight of pull.
@@HuntShootLive Thank you for the info
I just want a gen 2 swarm magnum, but cant find one in Portugal. Its incredibly annoying not being able to get one with iron sights...
@pedroj3432 Can you find the replay? Same thing as the swarm magnum.
@@HuntShootLive not with fixed sights unfortunately...
@@pedroj3432 How about the Gamo Arrow? It’s a pcp. I like it way better than my break barrel gamos.
Will these gamo air rifles 22 caliber pellet rifles will kill a snake
@cameronm.5138 They are not ideal for that purpose but I’m sure a head shot would do the trick.
thanks friend, you solved some of my doubts, however, I wanted to upgrade my rifle with a 90 or 100kg piston and if necessary transform it from cal22 to cal25, the best pistons are the vago123, they are the best product on the market, the only problem who sell it in Russia and with the war in Ukraine the market with the West is at a standstill, I hope to find an alternative, I'll let you know the progress, thanks for this information, hello, greetings from Italy
Whisper and DX and Viper are the same I think !
The gen3 is actually Gen 3i. The i is for inertia. It means the cartridge isn't advnaced until you make a shot. This means you're less likely to have rounds fall out or double-feed.
@brianvandy4002 I’ve shot probably 1000 rounds out of each of the gen2 swarm magnum and the gen3i swarm magnum. Zero difference in feel or performance I can note.
@@HuntShootLive The difference isn't in how they shoot, it's how they load. If you cock the gen2 then look at the top of the mag, you'll see the next round is sitting there waiting to be loaded. In the gen3 the next round isn't advanced until you fire the rifle. That's the only difference in the Gen2 and Gen3i I've seen.
@@brianvandy4002 Right. So that’s what I was presenting in the video. There’s no difference that should cause one to purchase the 3 if they already have the 2. Any changes they made are just so they can say they made a change. Pure marketing. No benefit to the product for performance.
Is that available in india...?Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN3i Inertia Fed .22
@thungtimongko1152 I’m not sure what is available in India. I would encourage you to email Gamo and ask.
Ok sir
There is a huge difference in power on my Swarm. I am surprised you cannot tell the difference.
Is a gas ram gun durable?
@GsxRaider I be had one that I’ve done so many dieseling tests on and it still works fine. Dieseled with gas, diesel fuel, vapor rub, gun powder, etc., and still going strong. So, I would say yes they are pretty durable. Check out my air rifle playlist to see those videos. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Gen2 clear winner (iron sights)
i think i will keep my webly vmx dr and save up for a pcp
@Jijhebtmijnnaamnietnodig Good choice. PCPs are hard to beat.
So all 4 rifles are +/- the same, just has a different design?
@partykkrauze4130 The replay and the magnum are basically the same. The whisper and the viper are basically the same.
So which couple is better?@@HuntShootLive
@@Gekon_84 If you want the fastest, the replay or the swarm magnum. They are pretty much the same.
If you don’t mind a little slower and you want a little less expensive, the swarm whisper or the viper are basically the same thing.
So if i don't care about the price - Replay and Swarm Magnum is my choice right? I like the Replay10 compact minimalist design ;)@@HuntShootLive
@@Gekon_84 I think it’s a very solid choice.
A lot of “upgrades” are for patent reasons
@Hazel.Eyed.Gemini I'm sure that happens but when you rename it as something different, drop the price of the old one and bump up the price of the "new" one and the only notable difference is color with zero functional or performance difference, I'm gonna say that is marketing at its finest.
Leave your nose alone and don't talk through your hand .Yes? Good.
