    Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, czcams.com/users/postUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.

    Great video, I will also do a similar test. I just purchased the Gamo Wildcat Whisper .22 cal. I just can't seem to spend too much money on an air gun, lol. I did notice that there is always that pellet that works best with each rifle, and I believe that. There are other factors that affect the projectile flight, like how deep it is seated, consistency in grains (related to cost), and different shapes. In the end, I will use the most accurate pellet. Terminal ballistics don't matter if you don't hit it.

    After sighting it in on a half dollar at 30ft, My brother and I were shooting cans at 100yards with the cheap stock scope just last weekend. It seemed like it wasn't dropping for nothing. I love my .22 Gamo swarm whisper, you are right about the free recoil but your saying the magnum is different. So basically you hold the magnum like a regular firearm rifle. I was thinking about buying a Magnum but you just showed me the swarm whisper is more accurate. I hunt small pests so the whisper is proving itself to be better. The magnum is supposed to be a Lil more powerful. Bro I used a pellet rifle clean kit and clean and oil the barrel and my pellet rifle group has improved and you get more power big time.

    The pellet matters! Each air gun has a particular pellet that it likes and yields the best accuracy. That being said, this is a very nice video. Very informative. You might also try the assault hold. Tightly gripping a break barrel rifle usually makes the accuracy decrease. I think you have the airgun fever. :)

    Ask any sniper you happen to see. Firing up hill or down hill is vastly different than firing straight. Gravity plays into the calculation and can drastically effect projectile drop. I could be wrong because it was a video and I cannot say for certain but it appeared to me that you were firing up hill. If I am correct in that it would cause pellet drop differently than a straight shot. The arch of the pellet would be greater.

    • @HuntShootLive
      @HuntShootLive  Před 3 lety

      @Michael Brown Uphill or downhill decreases the travel distance for the projectile, slightly, when the angle is greater than 45 degrees. I was not shooting anywhere close to that angle. But, if I were firing at a significant angle and my rangefinder did not calculate for the incline, I would impact higher than with a “ground distance” measurement (I would be holding for 100 yards but the compensated angle makes it actually only 75 yards so impact would be high). Compensating for the 45 degree angle decreases the distance. 100 yards at a 45 degree angle becomes 75 yards. Doesn’t matter if it’s uphill or downhill. Calculation is the same. But I was shooting at far less of an angle than 45 degrees so my ranges were exactly represented.

  • @kennyness8881
    @kennyness8881 Před 2 lety

    Pellet guns against game for me are 15-25 yard shots. At that distance, my Gamo Whisper 10x makes quarter sized (or better) groups. At those distances, my Gamo is GREAT for plinking. IMO anything farther than that is just for fun/my info……and probably should be done with a different gun if I’m really trying to hit something.

    It’ll kill a squirrel if I’m lucky enough to actually get ahead shot but i miss or loose more wounded squirrels than I find. I consider myself a halfway decent shot but this rifle doesn’t cut the mustard for me.

    Those groups won’t be accurate if you’re using the stock scope. At least get a one piece scope mount... especially with that scope. Your POI WILL move on you, it’s just a matter of time. However, that rifle is very accurate. PRO TIP: When you get to that 2nd stage in the trigger snap it and hold for a second. With any break barrel they usually shoot the best when holding or resting on the balance point of the stock. I’ve had mine about a year and put 1000’s of rounds through it and it’s very accurate. Only problem is that magazine assembly will come loose after awhile and I don’t want to mess with it. Otherwise great video 👍

    The pulling to the right of the target could be from the trigger pull being so hard on most of these higher powered pellet guns. I have a Ruger 22 and the trigger pull is always something that can throw my shot off. Maybe the trigger pull, along with the reduced speed of the projectile, being pulled to the right, assuming you are right handed, could possibly be the reason for the shots going right? Have you tried heavier pellets in the magnum and if so how did it work out for you?

    • @HuntShootLive

I’ve done a few other videos on accuracy at this point and it’s been a while so I can’t recall specifics but round nosed 14-15 grain do well in both. Ts22s do well in both. The reason why your having so much drop is the because of the weight of the pellets. 14.3 grain pellets are effective maybe out 60 yards. After that you need to holdover. Use a pellet from 16-19 grains. The drop is much less because of the heavier weight. Or you can also try using slugs. They will go 3x as far because of their shape like a bullet.

      @@HuntShootLive yeah I did call pyramid air and they told me I had to work with Gamo for the warranty, but since I live in Hawaii, I'd have to pay to ship it to them, I don't want to deal with the hassle, but I have all the pellets, magazines and hand pump that's just sitting around collecting dust, I do see the whisper at an affordable price here at the local Walmart and before I purchased i want to know your opinion if the whisper is just as powerful as the arrow, and what's the pros and cons between break barrel and pcp, which do you prefer from these 2 specifically

      @@theFormidable1 The power/performance between those two is very similar. I like PCPs better because they don’t recoil like the break barrels and are not as loud. The whisper is a good dependable air rifle though for sure.
