    Three things.
    1. The vulp and the canyon are both unique enough experiences that I have no problem recommending someone, even new people, get both. Variety is nice.
    2. People who aggressively hate on one thing or another tend to only do so on things that are popular. Success draws criticism.
    3. If I ever make a balisong, I'm putting a logo in every possible orientation, just for Brandon. Up, down, left, right, backwards, mirrored, holographic, everything. There will be a correctly oriented logo in every shot, one way or another.

    The answer is both. A newbie should buy both because certain tricks work better with a more momentum based bali and some are better with a lighter bali. Both are affordable and will give twice the overall fliipping experience. A newbie should also buy an Orion V1.5 All 3 for the price of a Kraken which should be their next bali imo.

      No hate but... thats just dumb. When someone is looking for a good balisong to start with, the canyon to me seems like the better option though getting a vulp is okay too. But if someone had the money to buy both he is already outside the 60ish$ budget range and at that point there is no reason to be buying the vulp or canyon over the 100$ options.
      It just sounds like people don't want to accept that the vulp era is over. Though again, if you like the vulp more, that is no problem to me. My problem is that you think buying both is something a beginner is capable of. And even if he is capable of that he wouldn't be in this budget range to begin with.

    I have just recently gotten a chance to try the false edge Caynon and I don't even have to watch the whole video to answer that the obvious choice is the CANYON. For me, sound is super important and a well-tuned Vulp can sound really good, while I just can't get behind the sound of the Canyon. It sounds so clinky and rattly like dropping a wire coat-hanger on the floor. And while we're here I just want to say the Vulp Pro is one of the best sounding balis for the price

    I wouldn't get nervous about losing out on any business due to the competition of the release of so many other budget balisongs or being undercut on the price, I think most flippers are going to end up getting both the vulp and the canyon anyways cuz they're so different and both a great value, no one buys just one balisong

    I bought a canyon for the looks after breaking a $30 benchmark clone and I'm absolutely loving it. For me it came down to looking nicer and being slightly cheaper than a vulp. I immediately noticed it was really smooth and fast spinning. Grip can be super lacking at times in the acid wash and definitely could've used more gimping and cuts for grip. The handles do feel super thin but if ur flipping it alot u forget about it and learn to adjust until someone mentions it 😂😂 the canyon also has a very nice sound while flipping

  • @ericgalvan291
    @ericgalvan291 Před 3 měsíci

    I agree with what Brandon said. I have both and personally me I prefer how the canyon flips for my style…. But for a 1st time flipper, I still recommend the Vulp. A factor I think that is important as well is usability, the Vulp is a bottle opener. Just like something Ty mentioned in a recent blade bias video, that’s the reason he carried his “Mako,” it’s public friendly. The Vulp has that covered better than the Canyon. Especially in CA where I live, less likely to get in trouble for the dumbest reasons.
    Also Brandon, your flipping has improved drastically. Nice work 👍🏽

  • @KumiYeouCollections
    @KumiYeouCollections Před 3 měsíci +2

    i fully agree in where the vulp is a more consistent feel against other balisongs making it a better learning tool to someone new. i've been viewing the canyon as more of a proof of concept than a new beginner bali since it does kinda prove full steel CAN work, but it has some improving yet to be made. i've had a similar experience with the canyon as i did with the cygnus in that it's good, but has a weird hotspot distribution on the handles where it's end-heavy on both ends but has nothing in the middle to balance it out making momentum switching and aerials strange. granted the vulp also struggles with chaplins, but they're doable with good control
    i'd definitely still recommend a canyon, but more to people who have a little more experience with balisongs. canyons are fun flippers and i'd love to see the idea continued and improved, but i would not enjoy learning new things on it. it's good and well worth the money, but a bit too inconsistent imo
    also this is from a perspective of "if you can only get ONE"

    I own 2 Vulp and 1 False live blade Canyon. The Canyon is a better value IMO, the first stainless steel Balisong that can be a good flipper! Stainless is stronger and gripper than aluminum, I prefer the look of the canyon over the Vulp, it come also with a false edge live blade which is a positive for the Canyon.

    The Vulp would be top notch if it chaplin'd properly and wasn't so darn slippery. I spend more time trying to stop it go flying than enjoy flipping it. I would really like to try the Pro but its gonna take some convincing to make me fork out for it. False edge Canyon is based but not really a beginner flipper. That beg's the question though "What is a beginner flipper?" when with perseverance you can learn the basics on anything.

    • @zacholmschenk4775
      @zacholmschenk4775 Před 2 měsíci

      That’s what I’m thinking, realistically you can learn to flip on any Bali, I learned the basics with a $10 amazon knockoff and just ordered the canyon so I can have a durable beater that still performs well.

  • @RingOfShameful
    @RingOfShameful Před 3 měsíci +1

    I think the canyon serves a similar purpose for flippers as the barflies or plastics do; if you start learning on them you'll have a good time, but it also has a purpose exclusive to itself- specifically for the canyon, being all stainless steel means it's a low price for a very durable beater. However, like plastics and barflies, if you're learning to become competitive, it won't be as useful to you or 'standard' as you describe in your video, as it's so different from many other balis, whereas the vulp is more similar to mainstream balisongs. however, if you're someone who flips for fun and has a collection, stuff like barflies, plastics, and now the canyon have *interesting*, *unique* feels that can break up the monotony of a competitive collection

  • @parzival6344

  • @spyroclone152
    @spyroclone152 Před 2 měsíci

    I love my Vulp, and still flip it to this day for the funsies. I have far outgrown it when it comes to some intermediate tricks, but it's still not all bad in terms of performance. If anything, it's a fancy bottle opener lol. That is also not to mention that I've practically rebuilt it twice and burnt through the extra hardware in the box already ... that handle gap is getting mighty small. However, after flipping the Canyon trainer, I can personally say that it trades off some of the issues of the Vulp in favor of introducing new quirks to take its place.
    + Ergonomics.
    The Canyon has substantially better grip thanks to the skeleton concave handles.
    + Chaplins.
    The Canyon chaplins substantially better than the Vulp due to the weight distribution being more extreme in the handles.
    + Durability.
    The all-steel construction should, in theory, be much more durable than a standard 6061 bali.
    + (Subjective) Pinsless design is cleaner looking imo, plus doesn't have the issue of pins falling out.
    + False Live Blade.
    The Canyon comes with a false live blade that is able to be sharpened. It can be a decent first EDC balisong that is actually affordable for most folks.
    + Price.
    Canyon is even cheaper than the Vulp by $15 - $25. This makes it great for a gift, and or disposable burner/beater Bali for the road.
    -/+ Weight.
    The Canyon is heavier than traditional aluminum balis (Around 123g). It's very comparable to titanium balisongs in terms of weight, but beginners may not appreciate it. I personally like a slightly heavier balisong as it builds finger strength, and also prepares people for heftier balisongs down the road, like the Kraken. But the weight can also effect the ability to learn tricks like ladders or ricochet tricks.
    - QA issues.
    Nabalis is still struggling to get a consistent tune from their Canyons, specifically with handle gap.
    - Jimping.
    The Jimping on the Canyon is not really that aggressive and overall doesn't do much for additional grip.
    - Balance. (Subjective)
    This is more an issue with the False Live blade. But the Balance for the Canyon is slightly off base than what you would expect from a handle biased bali. Dare I say the false live blade actually makes the balisong slightly blade biased.
    - Variety.
    Canyon only comes in two colors. I'd day the Vulp has a more fun aesthetic and variety to choose from. Makes for a great gift.
    - Availability.
    The Canyon is still in its honeymoon phase where Nabalis is currently struggling to keep up with demand on both their website and Amazon.
    Once again, I personally think that no one balisong is a clear cut winner for everybody. However, I personally can say that the Canyon provides a higher value proposition that is an easy recommend for any new flipper over the Vulp imo. The balance is weird, the weight is hefty, and the Pinsless may dwindle, but I think the Canyon is a more capable flipper in the long run instead of the short. This is all my own perspective, but it's nice to see that we have these cheap options to choose from either way.
