- Booster Course Wave 3 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is here, and we’re checking out All Changes and differences made for the returning courses. The first race of the Rock Cup is Tour London Loop. It’s a grand trip around the many sites of the city where English royalty lives, home of the Buckingham Palace and surrounding parks, Tower Bridge, and, of course, Big Ben. So how does the most recent update differ from its mobile appearance? Let’s find out!

I love the tracks that change each lap. It's why I love Peach Gardens and Kalimari Desert in 8 Deluxe.
Yeah at first peach gardens was a bit meh like I didn't mind it but then all of a sudden it got a complete make over and grew popularity

london loop is a mess, i can accept the others, but london just goes crazy and some turns make no sense.
Seeing your analysis makes me regret never playing Mario Kart Tour, but I am glad to see these cool stages making it to Mario Kart 8. Good job btw.

Honestly this track is underrated, really fun track
personally I think if there was one thing I would change, I would revert the textures to that cooler colour palette of the Tour version. As someone who knows london very well, those warmish hues just do not strike me with a london vibe, its got to be colder and a little less pleasant feeling.
It's so cool to see grass textures lol...
And the model changes in some places are nice as well
Can we all say that the lap changes is a really cool gimmick. Adds more variety to the tracks
Also fun fact: most of the city tracks have a Ferris Wheel on them somewhere

London Loop is my favorite city course in Mario Kart Tour - all its variants were nice and simple. I liked it in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe too. Wish it could appear in Mario Kart Tour more often, though.
One thing I didn't see mentioned is that the odd little pathway under the windows through the building off the main route at 2:12 can actually be driven through as a bit of a shortcut! I forget if that was a thing in Tour or not, though...
Also much more minor thing is that the text in those "Mario Kart Tour" hanging banners shown at 1:53 have been replaced with a more generic "SINCE '92" design. And the alternated colors were switched so that the "RACE" banners are now green, and the emblem banners are now red instead. Wonder why they swapped those!
Nice catch in the shot about the banners, BUT, if you check during the music section at 6:48, they alternate, so I just froze the footage at a slightly different part of the winding road for the barrels. As for the alternate route, I'm really interested in seeing this! You don't mean the other archways, right? Clarification would be appreciated!
They definitely still say Mario Kart Tour I have a screenshot on my switch
Oh, I just discovered what you meant about the path! What looks like a dead end archway on the grass actually goes through at an angle. I'm not sure if this is possible in Tour with a Mushroom, but nice find!

Wave 4 had to release for me to appreciate this course, but I've time trialed this course enough now. It quickly went from being a basic track for me to one of my favorite Mario kart courses ever!!! I had it near the bottom of the wave 3 tracks when it released and it even overtook 3DS rainbow road as my favorite.
So enough of that, I'll explain why this track is one of my favorites ever. Firstly, the city themes never fail, especially in a Mario kart setting and European track settings are always pretty interesting. Second, the track isn't divided in the standard 3 lap format so every lap being different is awesome. The third amazing thing is the variety and amount of shortcuts you can take on this track. Yeah, there's time trial shortcuts, but there's also alternate shortcuts that can be used in a pinch online which is just excellent. Also this part isn't major to my overall opinion, the free chain chomps on the last lap give the track an even more epic feeling. My last and final point for adoring this track is the simple fact that the music is top tier in the game!
In summary this track is not only the best in the game, but the best in the entire series! I consider Ice Ice Outpost the worst track in the series, that track needs to take notes off of this track!
@GameXplain: When your done the finial lap in london loop, the victory lap is lap one again, so that would explain at the start of the race if you go backward the chain chomp are free
Hey, you know something that I'm curious about, have you guys considered doing separate in-depth video analyses into the Wave 1 tracks for the Booster Course Pass? You did it with Waves 2 and 3 but the only video you did in terms of the Wave 1 changes is the one where you gave summaries on all 8 courses at once in a span of 1-2 minutes for each.
We actually have been considering this idea! The Wave 1 coverage left a lot of room for improvement, and if we do decide to go back to cover Wave 1 like this, there would be a chance to cover the individual music themes, as well as the landmarks and cultural aspects of Paris and Tokyo, in ways not done before.
@@PeachToadstool If you guys can be able to do that and make 8 new videos regarding the Wave 1 changes for each course that would be great. It will be interesting in terms of comparisons.

3:02 That because you're technically on the 3rd lap. Where the Champs is unchained. If you go around a lap reverse you end up in the 2nd lap version.
Based on the programming, yep! But crossing the finish line won't end the race- because of some other factors that keep it on the first lap.

Wny did you skip my absolute favourite part of the song 6:44 the electric guitar solo is so good
Ah, sorry! It was a part not discussed in either the classic version or live arrangement, so I skipped most of that section, in part to trim the 'music' portion of the analysis down and also to avoid copyright concerns. I tried to keep the shredding and chorus in, though.
Nothing against London but this track really is the Bone Dry Dunes of Wave 3 for me personally.

Unpopular opinion I know, but I actually enjoy this track, and Bone Dry Dunes😌
I think this is actually one of the better tracks in wave four, top 5 at worst for me. But yeah I get how some people think it's boring :/
it's 6th on my list, behind rock rock mountain in 5th and ahead of peach gardens in 7th
London Loop Is the 4th best course in this wave. Boo Lake Being the best. Alpine Pass being the worst and 3DS Rainbow Close Behind. Never liked the 3DS Tracks.

Something you didn't mention is that in all subsequent loops of the music in London Loop, the Guitar panned to the left becomes absent.
You might want to check 6:12!

The tour version looks better the fog in mk8 makes the whole place seem creepy and dead

@@PikaPhantom_ I did some research on this aspect (and it was worse a century ago), and much of it was not just fog, but smog from nearby factories that gave the city the nickname, The Big Smoke. These city courses really allow for awesome education on cultural history.
