Right before I left this organization, I was told on a zoom shepherding call, that I need not to share my research & stick to the paragraphs! The two elders said, everything the "Slave" wants us to know & discuss is in the article!?!? I was flabbergasted! I told them..."I thought, through everyone's comments, we are seeing all assets of Jehovah's personality"?!?!? That's what we were always told?? The two elders stated...the organization is changing!?!? This was one of the last flags I witnessed! I have two precious granddaughters that are being taught these lies!!🥺😢😭Silence in the face of evil, is evil itself! Ty for all you do!❤🙏

Teacher perspective: This is based on the 1800s model of education that emphasized rote learning. Most churches have realized that engagement matters and rote learning just isn't interesting. But JWs mock the 'religious leaders' who try to be more engaging by moving around, making jokes, etc.

This reminded me of after being DF’d, I really tried to go back. Moved back in with my parents, did all the right things, wrote my letter…then listened as they talked about people like they considered me at the time at the meeting after writing my “please take me back” letter, and said nope…forget it, I don’t want back! Told my elder dad to tear up the letter and that I was moving back out and never looked back

I was 3rd generation on both sides born in JW. My parents stopped attending meeting when I was around 8 after a long distance move away from family. They went inactive, but they still held the beliefs so we didn’t celebrate anything, no saluting the flag, no voting, and no blood transfusions. They would take us to the memorial here or there and skipped years. My siblings and I never were baptized and grew up did our own things and celebrated holidays . We would visit my dad’s side of the family every few years so my parents were not shunned by my dad’s side because I believe they wanted access to try to bring my siblings and myself in the organization. They also would reason that my dad was scared away by a group of elder’s before we moved for not bringing us often enough . They held out hope my parents would return . So if there were weddings or something we would see them even into my adulthood. I didn’t know about how abusive the cult was until one of my cousins got disfellowshipped and shunned . Since I was not local I didn’t realize they were shunning her. I thought she was just busy and not around . Eventually I connected with my cousin and learned about how evil shunning is . I basically was so mad I cut contact with my JW family around that time and supported my cousin even from a distance. My siblings were buying into that she did something wrong and that they were staying out of it . They would invite my dad’s JW to baby showers and things so I would skip the showers to support my cousin. My siblings didn’t get it . Well I have been watching videos in the exJW community now for a couple of years . I have sent a lot of videos and information on shunning to my siblings . I’m hoping they are watching them to see how bad shunning and CSA is . I have a cousin in the fading process currently and is shunned. I’m glad she is out and I reached out to support her from a distance also . The reason I looked into the ExJW community was a few years ago my dad refused blood so I wanted to understand why . He survived thankfully, but I’m still traumatized by what I saw and how helpless I was . I have been trying to help my inactive dad (who also had a massive stroke a few years ago) see what he was fooled by watchtower. So I know this is long but I wanted to give my background before I ask my question. I tried to ask my question on the live stream and no one answered me. Maybe the stream was going to fast or maybe they are suspicious of me. I have noticed a lot of exJW’s are overly suspicious and haven’t shed that part of the JW conditioning.
I had two older JW men at my door Friday . I let them do their spiel and was friendly back. I was somewhat upfront and told them I did have JW family, but that they lived far away. They immediately asked why I was not one and I just said we moved far away when I was a kid and my family was not able to keep taking me to meetings like they use to do. That was actually true also. They seemed suspicious of me, but eventually seemed okay with me and we chatted about my garden. They said one of them would be back and would bring his wife next time . They asked me to have a Bible question ready for the next visit . I’m conflicted on if I should just bring up CSA and shunning next visit or just plant a seed somehow. I also have no clue what my Bible question would be . Hopefully people can weigh in and tell me what they suggest. I asked my D’fed cousin and she joked I should ask about shunning. Then she said that maybe I could plant a seed. She said that she was 20 at a gas station when the seed was planted in her eventual waking up. She said a very normal kind woman freaked out and visibly shaken by the literature she gave her . She said the woman recoiled and was spooked. The woman said it was creepy and dropped it on the ground. That incident made my cousin start to think. Anyway again if commenters would weigh in thank you! I just want to help other’s when I can .

Speaking of autism in JW, my GF's son is autistic. She was DFd a long time ago and raised him without religion, but her parents were always trying to shove it on him. He catches onto patterns pretty quickly, and his grandmother started in about santa and how he's not real. Asking him have you ever seen santa? No, then how do you know he's real. So he comes back home, he's under 10 at this point, and tells him mom he's never seen santa and doesn't believe. Well, she immediately realized it was her mom fucking around so she asks do you believe in god? Yes, but have you ever seen him? She said she could almost see the wheels spinning and light come on. He says, no i don't believe in god either. So she texts her mom and thanks her for turning him atheist 😅. Her mom was pissed that she was outmanoeuvred

I've been in a very bad place the last couple of years, one thing is my house got destroyed and I'm still waiting on insurance to figure it out so I'm the meantime I've been staying with my jw mom. I was df'd over twenty years ago because someone saw me shooting pool with a df'd friend. She can't have any friends over because of me and i feel terrible. The other day she brought up me getting reinstated, and nothing would make her happier, and tbh my depression is so bad I've considered at least going to a meeting. But i don't think i could handle it. I disagree with way too much and the meetings seem so dour and depressing. My mom is really wonderful but my brother and i are still really bitter about being raised in this cult. I had a lot of fun in my twenties learning about how screwed up their teachings and policies are but I've seen a lot of similarities of their BS in other groups as well and while i do believe in certain principles, such as getting along, telling the truth, not ripping people off it seems like the watchtower business model isn't unique. I should've embraced the hippie lifestyle when i was young.

I actually think the quote from the bible attributed to Jesus, "Let them be" could also be interpreted to show that the policy of disfellowshipping is not Christ like. According to the Oxford dictionary to "let someone or something be" means to "stop INTERFERING with someone or something. Ex. "Let him be...he knows what he wants." "
That scripture in Matthew actually lends scriptural support to the idea of letting folks fade peacefully and quietly out of the religion. Its a phrase that denotes passivity and that no action is required other than the action of letting them go. It would mean, if someone says they no longer wish to be a JW the Christian response would be to not interfere with that persons decisions and life as they move forward - no JC required, no DF or DA announcement to the congregation, no coerced shunning for that persons friends & family, no drop-in shepherding calls on inactive folks, etc. All of these actions are interference. DFing and all of the actions associated with it is an agressive response.

JW Governing Body will not let their followers question their authority and teachings, and yet the bible tells us to test everything ... 1 Thessalonians 5:21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.
Also 1John 4:1 says.. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
JWs must not allow the Organisation to convince them to read their material only. This is unscriptural and the sign of a cult.
It is imperative that JWs question their leaders to see if they are acting in accordance with God's spirit and word. Imo, the JW Governing Body are false prophets.
I pray that God will set his people free from false teachers.
