He says “we are sharing something that is positive”. Every time JWs have come to my door, they do Not speak on the positive. They state how bad the world is, it’s evils, the coming end of the world and the terror of Armageddon. I never hear thankfulness or rejoicing. NEVER

It's amazing how lazy JWs have gotten. When I was a Pioneer, we had to actually know stuff and be able to talk to people.

  • @anotherhealingjourneybegins

Damn, even the interview contradicted itself. How do they say they're "very open to the public " and then turn down public call questions? Then used the "above my pay grade" excuse. Like, these are his beliefs also, are they not? So regardless of how the public takes the answers, they should be proud to speak them because it's 'the truth'. This just demonstrates to the public that, yes, they are hiding things.

This right here! If they believe it to be the truth, they should shout it from the rooftops and proudly accept the "persecution" they receive because their beliefs and practices are so cruel.

Back in the late 90s, I knew an older pioneer sister who my family was close with who got her big toe broken when I was a teenager because she literally stuck her foot in the door when a householder tried to slam the door on her. She had difficulty making her service time for a couple months while she was healing. She wore the foot brace as a badge of honor and she and the people who were in her service group when it happened told people what happened like it was a war story.😂🤦🏽‍♂️
Side note: My parents got baptized when I was 7. I got baptized when I was 8.

So annoying how DeBono skirts giving direct answers which is always how we were taught. One example is how he claims the cart is successful but when directly asked by the host to give concrete examples of their success, he can’t do it. Thanks Jake. As usual enjoyed this 'talk' I hope I catch you live next time. I just can't believe how much this "Bono" guy was getting away with. Being able to "witness" whenever an opportunity like that at the radio station - was a HUGE deal when I was growing up. The more you could quickly give some "good witnessing" the better. We were always encouraged to remember scriptures and passages from Watchtower prints. I remember always having my "Reasoning" book nearby with a lot of added notes, highlighted paragraphs - just to be ready to " Witness" whenever an opportunity arose. You are right regular JWs are held at higher standard than these jokers. Keep up exposing the lies. Best wishes from this side of the globe.

Yeah, we're very open and public, but you can only ask us these very specific softball questions, that put us in a positive light. We can't ever be wrong, because our leaders are not only infallible, but also unquestionable, since we're the only true religion with a direct channel to God, and therefore in possession of the only one truth. If you ever feel wronged, have doubts, or any negative experiences whatsoever, that's a "you thing", not a "us thing", and we can't be held responsible if you possibly get estranged from your family, because you don't exactly tow the line. If you're depressed and low because of the constant cognitive dissonance and double standards, you don't need therapy or unconditional love, no, you're just not spiritual enough. But rejoyce, there's good news and hope; if you brainwash yourself into being an obedient drone and tool of the organization, you won't be unalived in some horrible way during Armageddon, and you'll live forever in a paradise where you'll be making bonfires out of all the other fallen non-believing humans, deal with nuclear reactors melting down and be eternally led by a bunch of heavenly bronze age men and old Brooklyn farts.

Boring, secretive, no information. And I say lies because of the Positive News thing. The “truth” would be to say: Armageddon is our focus and you’ll be destroyed if you don’t join the Org!! This was the most boring interview I’ve ever listened to. No personality. Holding back. Couldn’t be drawn out. Back in the 70’s, at doors, JWs would come right out with it: the “wicked system” and the End and living forever after...if you get on the “Ship of Salvation.” Now, I doubt they even have memorized their Bible and scriptures because they just parrot to go to the Org. Nothing.

This JW spokesperson is no different from any other JW in the fact they are not open and honest when they are asked specific questions that they feel might reveal information or motivations for what they do. Their rehearsed , learned , stock answers to questions are pathetic and border on wilful lies. More often than not they wont even give you an answer to any genuine question if they cant give an acceptable answer. There are so many secrets and things about the workings and beliefs of the religion that they actively will not tell you.

I've found that the quickest, most efficient method for getting a JW to quit a debate is to ask them to explain their beliefs. JWs are perfectly content to preach and tell people how great they are and how correct their beliefs are, but when you hold their feet to the fire and make them explain their beliefs so those beliefs make sense to anyone other than another JW, they quickly realize how stupid and untenable their beliefs actually are.

@@adamantiumbullet9215 Yes exactly right. How can you dedicate your life to a group when you cant explain what they tell you you have to believe. Insane behaviour that anyone would get involved with this religion that will kill you at any time if you need a blood transfusion or from being shunned or mental, physical and spiritual abuse that leads individuals to take their own lives. Then the constant fear of being killed at armageddon for not being good enough is too much pressure for any normal person. Nothing good about the religion. Die if you dont and die if you do mentality leads to serious mental disorders.

It appears the message is not hard hitting but is, instead, coated in sugar and wearing fluffy bunny slippers.

What would help here is if you could contrast the implications of baptism in the Protestant tradition, and or Catholic tradition with the implications of being baptized as a JW. I.E. : A baptism into JW, gives them the right to destroy your life, through shunning if you don't tow the line. Baptism in a real Christian church means only that you have accepted Jesus as your Savior. Big, big difference.

Imagine being a woman that wore/wears a cross, not raised in *any* religion, doesn't wear dresses with piercings and tattoos, but love isn't dictated by a religion and she married a (now former) JW, Whew that was wild!
The first time I went to a meeting, I asked if I could go, I felt like chum just thrown in a shark tank. Of the people that talked to me, only 1 man got what I was saying, the rest just thought it was ok to lightly berate me **and I say that knowing it's not all of any one or anything**
12 years into marriage, a couple JW men came to the door once and I told them I am a pagan and if I had questions, I had my (still active) mother in law that would and could answer them because she gets *me* . They honestly had the flat out audacity to say well would your husband allow you to study. I said, rather harshly, my husband doesn't *allow* me to do anything, would he support me - yes in a heartbeat, but I didn't need his permission. Discussion yes, permission oh no, my brain works, I'm over 18 and he's not my father. You'd think I just told them the sky was purple, grass was blue, and Earth was a cube. They came back with but if you asked him would he be ok with it. I was fire hopping mad at them.

not to be sidelined and go away from what the official line was. He was calm & controlled in his demeanour but did not ever
come across as relaxed & natural. I know for 100% sure he was especially chosen for this interview as he wouldn’t deviate.

Individuals with a desire to make a meaningful difference during their lifetimes may be drawn to religion partly because there's strength in numbers, and they believe their impact together will be greater than it would be individually.
Someone who opposes organized religion may seek to acquire that "strength in numbers" churches possess without joining a church. So, they post flyers announcing the formation of a non-religious group for people who want to use their time on Earth in a meaningful way while joining with like-minded folks to contribute something positive to humanity.....the next thing they know, they've accidentally formed a cult! 😬
