Sorry but this Jeff guy has not even left the modern day Babylon the great as he is still cliniging to a very PAGAN image around his neck.......The instrument that Jesus died on was just that, a torture instrument, and all the evidence points to the fact that Jesus did not doe on a cross but rather a "upright pole of stake" !
An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated “cross” is stau·ros′. It basically means “an upright pale or stake.” The Companion Bible points out: “[Stau·ros′] never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the [New Testament] even to imply two pieces of timber.”
In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesus’ death. It is the Greek word xy′lon. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24) This word simply means “timber” or “a stick, club, or tree.”
The most convincing proof of all, however, comes from God’s Word. The apostle Paul says: “Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: ‘Accursed is every man hanged upon a stake [“a tree,” King James Version].’” (Galatians 3:13) Here Paul quotes Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person “a curse,” it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled.
So if there was a chance that this is true it means that people are putting Jesus onto a pagan symbol!
And if he can't even get that right, then why do you think anyone is going to put faith in his "Jesus is God" dogma.........It is almost laughable !

If Jesus is God then WHO was he praying to ? ......If Jesus is God then why did he say "I am going back to MY GOD and MY FATHER ? So WHO is the God of Jesus, and what is his name, when you find the answer to that question then you will see the TRUTH behind WHO God is !
Jesus backed up that belief when in prayer to his heavenly father said,...”"This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. John 17: 3. Notice how he calls his father the ONLY TRUE GOD!
The first century Christians taught the same when they preached for example 1 Cor 15: 24-28 where we see in Vs 24 that Jesus has a GOD AND FATHER and that in Vs 28 he SUBJECTS himself to his God & Father!
SOME do say however, that Jesus does address God as his God and his father because he was A MAN however one of the clearest scripture which shows that Jesus is NOT God is Rev 3:12 where we see Jesus as NOT a man but back in heaven:
"The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. New International Version
So, please read Rev 1:1 which says: "a revelation from Jesus which GOD GAVE HIM"
So WHO is the God Of Jesus, and what is his name ?

no where in the bible as we have a bible not the bible is trinity fable and hell fire is not in original so both are fable! Christ clearly in his teaching tells his people he is not the father in heaven! John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. so clearly Jesus states you and anyone else has not seen God! so only Christ has seen such! as much as the corruption in watchtower when it comes to trinity totally understandable and hell fire doctrine! Christ followers asked about end times and Christ told them in Matthew 24:36
But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. so Jesus clearly tells us and states it he does not no only god in heaven! and makes it very clear only god knows! so if your claim Christ know are you claim Christ is a liar??

I can’t put my faith in an ideology that is self refuting. If Jesus isn’t God, but Michael the archangel (Jehovah’s first and greatest creation), then John (under direction of the impersonal force of a holy spirit from Jehovah God) records in John 1 as “a god” when there is only Jehovah God. So Jehovah created a false god to send and save the world for the one true god. Where as, if Jesus is God, God did what we as humans could never do, live a perfect and sinless life, and take the punishment for my sins, and your sins.

honey you need to read the bible not publications but first you may want to learn how to read because it's clear from how you write that you have very little understanding of english. 1st john 2:27 clearly tells us that we don't need anyone to teach us the word except the annointing. the jw's site 2nd peter 1:20 as the reason for publications but fail to site verse 21 along with it , they go together. charles t. russell said that without publications you couldn't be a j.w. which means that your belief system is not in the bible alone and that there were no j.w's before publications. Jesus is the servant in isaiah 53. read 53:4-6 and 11. eleven says my Servant shall justify the many not an organization with works earning your way to eternal life. do your homework strangely enough you're encouraged to so take advantage of it.

@@BulykrynVancho I don’t speak on behalf of Jehovah’s witnesses but may this help you with your misunderstanding of their understanding of John 1:1. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the Word is a god, not as a false god as you have inserted but as a 'divine being' existing in God’s form, his form being 'spirit'. All spirit creatures exist in God’s form and are considered gods by human standards. It is important to recognise that Theos' in the Greek is the term used for God and it is used for all gods, not just the creator.
The Word, being Jesus in his pre-human existence, was the beginning of Jehovah God’s creation, the Word is God's spokesperson, his master worker, his chief representative, hence the name - the Word. He is the mightiest of all God’s spirit creatures and that is why he is referred to as Mighty God in Isaiah.
So it is essentially to grasp that when John 1:1 says the Word was God, it is referring to Mighty God, and not God Almighty, there is a significant difference between the two. If the Word were God Almighty, then John 1:1 would have said the Word 'is' God, and not the Word 'was' God. Notice too, that John 1:1 does not identify the Spirit, therefore the doctrine of Trinity fails to have relevance to biblical truth in explaining the nature of God. I hope this helps. May God Bless your efforts for your search for truth.

WHO IS OVER ALL? Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. GOD and FATHER is OVER/ABOVE ALL and that "All" includes the SON so they are NOT EQUAL
THE BIBLE teaches that Jesus was MADE As Lord and Christ and as Son (ACTS 2:36, Prov 8, HEB 1:5), CREATED/PRODUCED/INSTALLED (Prov 8) , COME INTO BEING/MADE (Mat 21:42 - egeneto) and GIVEN LIFE by the Father - John 5:26 and it uses TODAY (Heb 1:5), and uses future tenses and is a prophecy in Isa 9:6 (Isa 9:6, - WILL BE) . If you are called MADE AND CREATED AND GIVEN LIFE, and NEVER CALLED in the BIBLE as Creator or Maker , then you are A CREATION. ALL FROM THE BIBLE
From the Lord was this (this is referring to the chief cornerstone who is Jesus) , the word WAS is egeneto (made or came into being) - Matthew 21:42 and the exact Greek word used in John 1:3 - MADE, egeneto (came into being) - JESUS WAS MADE/CAME INTO BEING FROM THE FATHER , yes, Jesus was MADE/CREATED!, See also Acts 2:36, Heb 1:5, 1 john 5
Isa 9:6 the word Prince in the Prince of Peace means PATRON ANGEL also Leader. WHO IS the ONE LEADER that we have? Jesus. Now, that same exact Hebrew word was used for Daniel 12:1 which is used for Michael the Archangel. So are you saying there are MANY LEADERS now?

I understand it can be difficult joining a church after years of spiritual abuse. But you can’t throw out the baby with the bath water. Find a local church and talk with the pastor(s) and tell them your situation. Make sure they are well aware that the bible is the ultimate authority and that there are multiple elders holding each other accountable to the word of God.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to be involved and be a member of a local church community. Don’t listen to people telling you to go to an online ministry or anything like that. Just trust God and know the bible so you can discern whether a church is a biblical church or not. The blessings of local church membership are amazing.

There you go Tiff. You started out saying Father God. So I want to ask you a question Tiff. Who is Father God??? What's his name?? He does have one, you know that don't you?? It isn't Father, it isn't Father God, it isn't God, it isn't Jesus. So what is the name of Father God?? And I'm sure your gonna answer that he has many names but that's not true either. He has 1 name and if you read a King James Bible, tells you his name at a couple of places. 1 of them is Exodus 6:3 "I appeared unto Abraham Issac and Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known. Psalms 83:18 says it too. But you know what troubles me most about the KJB. Is that in all the rest of the scriptures it removed his name and replaced it with LORD (all capitalized) in other words, every where you read LORD it should read Jehovah. However some will say NO its suppose to say YHWH and if your Hebrew and read Hebrew that's actually true. But here's the deal. Jesus is NOT how you say his name because he is Hebrew too. Yet everyone on the English speaking world freely says his name in the Greek form. Actually, it's Iesus in the Greek form. But actually his name is Yeshua in Hebrew. So let's do some comparisons for those who say Jesus is the God of the old testament. YHWH is the God's name appears in Hebrew scriptures. And they Hebrews used what I call a form of short hand and left the vowels out of his name. So it could be Yahweh or it could be Yod-He-Waw-He. And there's actually some evidence that it may even possibly be Jehovah or Jehowah as well only with a "Y" because they don't use J's in Hebrew, so Yehovah or Yehowah. So Yeshua and Yehovah or even Yehowah. So let's look at the short hand form of Yeshua without the vowels. We have YSH. Hmm!! That doesn't match up. But Yehowah does, doesn't it. I hope this little lesson helps you to know and to come to understand that God has a name and Jesus' or Yeshua has a meaning to his name, too. It means Yehovah or Yehowah is salvation. Amazing, huh!!

In the long speech that Jesus held in the gospel of John, chapters13-17, the word Father is used 50 times (49 times by Jesus and 1 time by Philip), the word God 7 times, "the one who has sent me" 2 times, but not one single time is Gods name used. In the Lords prayerJesus taught us to say Father when when address God, just as he did himself.
We have close to 6000 manuscripts of the New Testament and in none of them is Gods name to be found.
The Old Testament quotations we have in the New testament are usually from the Septuagint (LXX), the greek translation, where the word LORD is used instead of Gods name.
Since God has promised to preserve his word we can be sure that nothing of importance to our relationship with him is has been lost.

Why they already have the truth of Gods word. Why would they swap the truth and listen to a man who has given in to idols with the cross around his neck ! Here are some better non-biased sources :
The Greek word stau·rosʹ is translated “cross” in many Bible translations. Notice, however, what various sources say about the meaning of this word:“
The Greek word [stau·rosʹ] properly . . . means merely a stake.”-Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature.“A pole in the broadest sense. It is not the equivalent of a ‘cross.’”-Crucifixion in Antiquity.“
A strong stake, such as farmers drive into the ground to make their fences or palisades-no more, no less.”-History of the Cross.“
It never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle, but always of one piece alone.”-The Companion Bible.“An upright pale or stake . . .
It never means two pieces of wood joining each other at any angle.”-A Critical Lexicon and Concordance
And even if it was a cross (which it isn't) what makes YOU think that God would be OK with putting up the instrument of torture in ones place of worship, what make you think God would be OK with people putting the object or execution around their necks as if God would be happy with that. I tell you what, why don't you find a person who's son was murdered by someone with a gun, and make a nice little model of a gun, then go around their house and tell them, " look what I have made an put around my neck as a wy to remember your son" See how far that would get you !!

@@mrm8850The word gospel means “good news,” which is the message of forgiveness for sin through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. It is essentially God’s rescue plan of redemption for those who will trust in His divine Son in order to be reconciled to a just and holy God. The essential content of this saving message is clearly laid out for us in the Bible.
In the apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he lays out the content of the gospel message, “Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
In this passage, we see three essential elements of the gospel message. First, the phrase “died for our sins” is very important. As Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The reality of sin needs to be acknowledged by all who approach the throne of God for salvation. A sinner must acknowledge the hopelessness of his guilt before God in order for forgiveness to take place, and he must understand that the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Without this foundational truth, no gospel presentation is complete.
Second, the person and work of Christ are indispensable components of the gospel. Jesus is both God (Colossians 2:9) and man (John 1:14). Jesus lived the sinless life that we could never live (1 Peter 2:22), and, because of that, He is the only one who could die a substitutionary death for the sinner. Sin against an infinite God requires an infinite sacrifice. Therefore, either man, who is finite, must pay the penalty for an infinite length of time in hell, or the infinite Christ must pay for it once. Jesus went to the cross to pay the debt we owe to God for our sin, and those who are covered by His sacrifice will inherit the kingdom of God as children of the king (John 1:12).
Third, the resurrection of Christ is an essential element of the gospel. The resurrection is the proof of the power of God. Only He who created life can resurrect it after death, only He can reverse the hideousness that is death itself, and only He can remove the sting that is death and the victory that is the grave’s (1 Corinthians 15:54-55). Further, unlike all other religions, Christianity alone possesses a Founder who transcends death and who promises that His followers will do the same. All other religions were founded by men and prophets whose end was the grave.
Finally, Christ offers His salvation as a free gift (Romans 5:15; 6:23), that can only be received by faith, apart from any works or merit on our part (Ephesians 2:8-9). As the apostle Paul tells us, the gospel is “the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16). The same inspired author tells us, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
These, then, are the essential elements of the gospel: the sin of all men, the death of Christ on the cross to pay for those sins, the resurrection of Christ to provide life everlasting for those who follow Him, and the offer of the free gift of salvation to all.

Jesus didn't say to the Samaritan woman, that the true worshippers would be worshipping him...the Son of God. Or direct her attention to the year 325AD, when the tri(3)nity was first formulated at the Council of Niacea.
However, a christian listens to the voice of Jesus and not to strangers.

      1) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5).
      2) The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun “us” are plural forms, definitely referring in the Hebrew language to more than two. While this is not an explicit argument for the Trinity, it does denote the aspect of plurality in God. The Hebrew word for "God," "Elohim," definitely allows for the Trinity.
In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus’ baptism. Seen in this passage is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are other examples of passages that present three distinct Persons in the Trinity.
      3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages. In the Old Testament, “LORD” is distinguished from “Lord” (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also the other instances when Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity-the Father.
      4) Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2). The Son is God (John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20). The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16).
      5) There is subordination within the Trinity. Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship and does not deny the deity of any Person of the Trinity. This is simply something our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see Luke 22:42, John 5:36, John 20:21, and 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7, and especially John 16:13-14.
      6) The individual members of the Trinity have different tasks. The Father is the ultimate source or cause of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11); divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); salvation (John 3:16-17); and Jesus’ human works (John 5:17; 14:10). The Father initiates all of these things.
The Son is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17); divine revelation (John 1:1, 16:12-15; Matthew 11:27; Revelation 1:1); and salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19; Matthew 1:21; John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.
The Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works: creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30); divine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21); salvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2); and Jesus’ works (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38). Thus, the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

@exploringGod So if they are one, I guess the Congregation that Jesus was praying for and said, "So that they may be one just as you and I are one, are God too. Right??? When it says they are one, it means that they are in agreement with each other. Not that they are 1. Come on man think and use the brains that God gave you. And it doesn't take the Son of God to be God. God is God and his Son is his Son. MY son isn't me. And I am not my son. We come in the likeness of God right?? That means that they are like us as well. That's why Jesus came to earth as a man. Again, there is no Triune. Jesus is Jesus, Jehovah/Yahweh/Yod-He-Waw-He, whatever you want to call him by, aka God is God. And the Holy Spirit is from God. If Jesus was God then answer this. Mark 13: 31 and 32 Jesus says "Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will by no means pass away. Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, Not the Angels, Nor the Son, but only the Father. If Jesus is apart of the Almighty God then why doesn't he know when Heaven and earth are going to pass away??? You'd think that even a small part of the ALMIGHTY GOD would know something like that. But im sure you have some kind of excuse for why Jesus, who you say is part of the Almighty God doesn't know. So, thanks for stopping by, but I just don't see it that way nor will you or anyone else ever convince me that it's 3 are 1 crap. Jesus is not God Almighty, I'll give you this though. He is a Mighty God. The Bible does say that about him but Almighty and Mighty have two different meanings Almighty means absolute power, No equal. And Mighty means strong, powerful. That's the difference between God and Jesus.

John 2:19-21 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body.

Could someone help me with this? JWs mistranslate John 8:58 as "Before Abraham was, I have been", to mean that he simply existed before Abraham's birth as a created angel. But if Jews thought Jesus was simply a materialized angel that has existed for a long time, would they have still tried to stone him? I don't think the Jews would and even if they thought Jesus was claiming to be an angel, they probably would have just not believed him and left him alone. Am I right? Because if so, a JW would be forced to admit that the reason they tried to stone him was that he was literally claiming to be God, right?

    • @BasicBiblicalTruth
      @BasicBiblicalTruth Před 10 měsíci +3

Correct. The entire section is a dispute over the identity of Jesus.
In John 8 Jesus said to the Jewish leaders, "Unless you believe that I AM (εγω ειμι) you will die in your sins." Jesus used "I AM" without a predicate, which is a self-designation of God in the OT. The Jews recognized that Jesus had used the unpredicated "I AM" but missed the identity claim he was making. Instead the Jews were waiting for Jesus to add a predicate, which is why they asked the question, "Who are you?" Jesus answer coyly, "What I told you from the beginning."
This discourse goes back and forth. Finally, when Jesus said that Abraham rejoiced to see Jesus day, the Jews incredulously replied, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was (γενεσθαι), I AM (εγω ειμι)." Jesus was not simply saying that he existed before Abraham. He didn't say "I was" (ημην) but "I am" (εγω ειμι)-grammatically incorrect, theologically spot on! He was claiming to be Jehovah - the I AM of Deu 32:39 and Isa 43:10 (on this below). The Jews got it this time, they understood what he was saying, which is why they picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy (which was the “penalty for blasphemy (Lev 24:16)-blasphemy here is regarded as laying claim to the divine ineffable name.”(1)
Now, just as you said, if JW's want to argue that Jesus was simply claiming to preexist before Abraham they have to explain the reaction of the Jews. If he was simply claiming to be older than Abraham they would have laughed at Him and thought He was crazy - Jews didn’t kill people for being crazy - but they understood He was claiming to be Jehovah.
Why did they instantly know he was claiming to be Jehovah and picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy?? Because they knew their Bible and in Deu 32:39 in the LXX it says: “ιδετε ιδετε οτι εγω ειμι, και ουχ εστιν θεος πλην εμου” (Look! Behold, that I AM, and there is no God except me) and Isa 43:10 - "You are my witnesses," declares Jehovah, "and my servant whom I have chosen ινα γνωτε και πιστευσητε και συνητε οτι εγω ειμι” (that you might know and might believe and might understand that I AM). The Jews understood what Jesus was saying, but JW's refuse to acknowledge the crystal clear point John is making-Jesus is Jehovah, co-equal in nature to Jehovah the Father.
Furthermore, A similar Greek construction to John 8:58 is found in Ps 89:2 which says,“before the mountains were, you are.” In Greek it says, προ τοῦ ὄρη γενηθῆναι (“came to be”)… συ εἶ (“you are” the second-person equivalent of εγω ειμι). “The Greek sentence here reflects the same grammatical structure as John 8:58 and uses the same verbs to make the same contrast between that which is created and temporal and the one who is uncreated and eternal.”(2) Murray Harris also says,“the timeless εἰμί points to the absolute, independent, and eternal existence of Jesus; it places Jesus ‘in God’s existence beyond time, in his eternal present’.”(3)
The translators of the NWT understand the implications of this so they errantly translate εγω ειμι as a historical present, “I have been.” The NWT (1950 ed.) has a footnote that says, “It is not the same as ὁ ὤν (ho ohn’, meaning ‘The Begining’ or ‘The I Am’) at Exodus 3:14, LXX.” Dan Wallace points out that “this is a negative admission that if ἐγὼ εἱμί is _not_ a historical present, then Jesus is here claiming to be the one who spoke to Moses at the burning bush, the I AM, the eternally existing One, Yahweh (cf. Exod 3:14 in the LXX, ἐγὼ εἱμι ὁ ὤν).”(4) Wallace demonstrates that there are several problems grammatically with seeing εγω ειμι as a historical present: 1) “historical presents are usually wedged in between aorist (or imperfect) _indicatives,_ not infinitives.” 2) This would be the only historical present in the NT that uses εἰμί. 3) This would be the only historical present in the NT that is not in third person. For these reasons, Wallace says “The burden of proof, therefore, lies with the one who sees εἰμί as _ever_ being used as a historical present.”(5)
Now, the GB have recognized they can't claim it is a historical present so they have switched to a Present of Past Action still in Progress. If you want me to explain this, let me know.
Finally, JW’s will also object saying that εγω ειμι is used by people who were not claiming deity (cf. Joh 4:26, 9:9, etc.). This is correct, εγω ειμι “does not necessarily imply deity when it contextually implies, ‘I am (the one in question)’... [but] when ‘I am’ lacks even an implied predicate, however, it becomes unintelligible except as an allusion to God’s name in the Hebrew Bible or LXX….The absolute use of the expression in 8:58, contrasted explicitly with Abraham’s finite longevity, clearly refers to a Jewish name for God.”(6)
Contextually, grammatically, and intertextually, there is no question that Jesus was claiming to be the “I AM” of Deu 32:39 & Isa 43:10, and Exo 3:14. In other words, Jesus claimed to be God.
      Hope this helps.

In the past, JW’s have argued that John 8:58 is a historical present.[1] This was abandoned because the verse doesn’t fit the criteria of a historical present (see Wallace’s Grammar for criteria).[2] JW’s now argue for what is variously termed as something like “Present of Past Action still in Progress” (PPA).[3] Fanning states that this category "always includes an adverbial phrase or other time-indication with the present verb to signal the past-time meaning."[4] John 14:9 fits the criteria but John 8:58 does not. JW’s will point to a couple grammars that have included John 8:58 into this category, as if that settles the matter, in spite of the fact that other grammarians have shown that the verse doesn’t fit the criteria for the category.
John 14:9 says, “Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long,” λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· τοσούτῳ χρόνῳ μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰμι.
τοσούτῳ χρόνῳ “so long a time” modifies ειμι ‘I am’ so that ειμι is properly translated as a PPA and thus “Have I been.”
John 8:58 (ESV) says, “Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am,’” εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἰησοῦς· ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, πρὶν Ἀβραὰμ γενέσθαι ἐγὼ εἰμί.
Eγω ειμι in John 8:58 is not modified by a time reference. The time reference in this verse, πριν ‘before,’ modifies γενέσθαι ‘came into being’ or ‘was.’ Second, πρὶν Ἀβραὰμ γενέσθαι, ‘before Abraham was,’ is a subordinate clause, not an adverbial phrase. Therefore, John 8:58 doesn’t fit the criteria of a PPA.
As I said in my last post, the entire chapter is taken up with the identity of Jesus and he identifies himself with God’s self-designation of the absolute εγω ειμι from Deu 32:39; Isa 43:10, etc., which is built upon God's revelatory name in Exo 3:14. (A really neat thing to do is look at Deu 32:39 in the Aramaic Tragum to see how the Jew's interpreted this verse, then look at Rev 1:8.) The Jews understood his claim and sought to stone him for blasphemy.
This is how the early church fathers understood Jesus’ claim. Chrysostom wrote, “But wherefore said He not, ‘Before Abraham was, I was,’ instead of ‘I Am’? As the Father useth this expression, ‘I Am,’ so also doth Christ; for it signifieth continuous Being, irrespective of all time. On which account the expression seemed to them to be blasphemous.”[5]
The problem is that unitarians do not accept that Jesus is God so they must twist the word of God to make it say something they can stomach. John’s Gospel, however, explicitly proclaims that Jesus is God (John 1:1, 18; 20:28).
      Regards,
      Kevin

Yes, but then same time Trinitarians ministries like apologia here always try to hide or ignore the fact that scripture teaches that while there is only one Almighty God (YHWH), the Father.
In a secondary sense others in heaven like the angels as "sons of God" are also called "gods" as well (Psa. 8:5; 97:7; 138:1, "elohim").
So if Christ as the firstborn and greatest "Son of God" is head of these angelic beings as gods. Then that would make him "a god" as another lesser divine being alongside God the Father.

No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known. (John 1:18 ESV)
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. (John 4:35 ESV)
Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” (John 9:39 ESV)
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”(John 12:40 ESV)
If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:7 ESV)
In John 4:35, Jesus tells his disciples to “see” that the fields are white. He is not speaking about physically looking at a field but spiritually discerning that people need to be saved.
In John 9:39, Jesus says that he came so that people who do not see will see, and people who do see will be blinded. Is he speaking about physical sight? He just healed a blind man after all. No. He was speaking about spiritually perceiving who Jesus is.
In John 12:40, John cites Isaiah saying that God has blinded their eyes. Did he smite everyone with physical blindness? No.
In John 14:7, Jesus says that his disciples have seen the Father. Did they physically see him? No, they have comprehended who the Father is by their knowledge of Jesus.
John says in 1 John 3:6 that a person who keeps on sinning has never seen Jesus. Does that mean that the religious leaders crucified the invisible man? No.
So why must we believe that “see” in John 1:18 is physical sight, when we are clearly told that God was seen in the OT? Because the GB say so. Why should we trust them? Because they claim to have been chosen by Jesus as the FDS. But why should we trust their claim to be the FDS when they are basing their claim off a parable AND didn’t even know they had been chosen in 1919. They were still proclaiming that Russell was the FDS in 1925. They just decided one day that Jesus had actually chosen them and now you have to listen to what they say and give them your money … just like every other cult leader. You might want to look into the history of the FDS.

    1) Jesus christ is the SON of God, CLEARLY stated in the bible. You can simply understand that if you read the bible.Jehovah God is the God almighty, the ancient of days which our lord jesus christ refers to in the bible as our father..that is how jesus christ thought the twelve disciples how to pray "Our father in Heaven, hollowed be thy name" .
    2) you see, Satan tempted jesus christ our lord in the wildernesses by saying" if you are the SON of God,throw yourself down here" and Satan quoted the verses in the old testament ( Luke 4:9-12) in reply jesus christ our lord also quoted a text in the old testament saying in it WRITTEN, do not put Jehovah your God to the test" Satan knew who jesus christ was
In Phillipians, Paul wrote to the Philippians in phillipians 1 verse 2 "Grace be unto you,and peace, from God our father and from the lord jesus christ" in phillipians 2:3 Paul is encouraging them not to do things with strife/egotistical but with humility like jesus christ although having the form of God on earth but declining to compare himself with God,that is in Philippians 2 vesrse 4-6.
You see, in the bible the scriptures clearly mentions jesus christ as the SON of the most high God.

John who grew up with and around Jesus and was Jesus' most beloved apostle wrote,
'No man has SEEN God AT ANY TIME.' - 1 John 4:12,20.
If he had written, 'no man has seen God the Father at any time' or 'no man has seen God in all his glory at any time' then it may have helped some Trinitarian theology.
He however, states that GOD HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN.
If, according to these charlatans' theories, Jesus was God, then it means that no one actually saw Jesus. Or perhaps John meant that only women saw Jesus by using the term 'no man'
Also someone should have schooled Jesus to the fact that he was God. He probably forgot because he told the Samaritan woman:
.(John 4:24) GOD IS A SPIRIT, and those worshipping HIM must worship with spirit and truth.”
This disfigurement of Jehovah God's uniqueness farce will soon end, thankfully. 2 Thessalonians 1:7,8.

    • @BasicBiblicalTruth

      John also wrote,
“Everyone remaining in union with him (Jesus) does not practice sin; no one who practices sin has either seen him (Jesus) or come to know him” (1 John 3:2 NWT).
So JW's must think that the religious leaders crucified the invisible man!
      And John wrote,
"Jesus then said: 'For this judgment I came into this world, that those not seeing might see and those seeing might become blind'" (John 9:37 NWT).
So JW's must think that Jesus physically blinded everyone who didn't believe in him, so they couldn't physically see him.
If JW's argue that they don't think Jesus was invisible to anyone continuing in sin (like the religious leaders), or that Jesus didn't physically blind people who didn't believe in him, then they show themselves to be inconsistent with John 1:18 & 1John 4:12, especially in light of the fact that the OT explicitly says that people saw God (Exo 24:10).

@kevinfromcanada The Greek word for see is horaō and means both to 1) see with the eyes and to 2) see with the mind, to perceive, know.
At 1 Jo. 3:6 the word seen is obviously referring to perceiving. As the Pharisees have seen Jesus.
But at Jo. 1:18 and 1 Jo. 4:12 the word seen is referring to seeing with our eyes physically.
It's important to SEE what is meant by context.
For instance, the phrase "no man has seen God at any time" refers to to physical sight, because we know many know God. The bible is full of examples throughout history who did.
Plus Ex. 33:20 is very clear in the physical seeing part by mentioning his face.
Also, if it meant "knowing" God, then knowing God would lead to death!
      SEE what I mean?
So, it obviously stands to reason that, since no man has physically seen God, and they physically saw Jesus, Jesus is NOT God.

    • @BasicBiblicalTruth
      @BasicBiblicalTruth Před 9 měsíci +1

Thanks Mark for showing the inconsistency of JW’s. It’s always nice to have my posts validated.
“No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him” (1 John 3:6 ESV).
Clearly “seen” in this verse doesn’t mean “know” since John explicitly says, “OR _known_ him.”
      Yet, you said,
[At 1 Jo. 3:6 the word seen is obviously referring to perceiving. As the Pharisees have seen Jesus. But at Jo. 1:18 and 1 Jo. 4:12 the word seen is referring to seeing with our eyes physically.]
But you didn’t make your case. You said that 1John 3:6 is “obviously referring to perceiving [because] the Pharisees have seen Jesus.” Well in that case John 1:18 and 1John 4:12 must also be referring to “perceiving” since the OT explicitly says that people saw God (Exo 24:10) and that God appeared to people (Gen 18:1).
JW’s engage in circular reasoning at this point. They say that Exo 24:10 can’t be something they saw physically because John 1:18 and 1John 4:12 say that no one has seen God, and then say that John 1:18 and 1John 4:12 must be speaking about physical sight because Exo 24:10 wasn’t something they saw physically. And round they go.
The real reason JW’s claim John 1:18 and 1John 4:12 is speaking about physical sight is because Jesus’ deity is so clearly affirmed in the NT, and especially in John’s writings, that they are grasping at something to push back with because they reject the testimony of the Scriptures.

Why is it we NEVER get the expression 'God's Father'???????

Great deflection Mark! Really well done... but do you care to address the question that was asked?
You know that trinitarians believe that Jesus has a God because of the incarnation (the divine Son became human).

You know that trinitarians believe that Paul is taking the Shema and applying it to both the Father and Son in 1Cor 8:6.

@kevinfromcanada The trinity theory states that the Father is NOT the son and the son is NOT the Father.
It also states that Jesus never ceased being God, for how can God not be God?
You just proved the trinity theory false by saying Jesus called his God the Father.
That means one of your Gods has a God over him.
Which makes sense, because Jo. 1:1,2 said God was WITH God.
      God sent sent Jesus.
      Jesus prayed to God.
God gave Jesus power and authority.
God exalted Jesus to be WITH God at his right hand.
The head of Jesus is God.
And all you can do is go around saying EACH of your gods are worshipped.
And you bounce around with 1 or 2 out of your 3 gods is Jehovah.
Thus ignoring De. 6:4 which says Jehovah our God is ONE Jehovah.
What's more, you believe Jesus is still incarnate. But Jesus said God is a spirit.
Which means Jesus can't be omnipresent, or he'd be one massive blob of flesh and we couldn't exist.
EVERY single belief of the trinity is a stretch, twists scripture and makes the scriptures conflict and makes everything God AND Jesus do a deceitful playact.

    Something to think about:
What if Jesus was created? What if he is the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15)? Repeated at
Rev 3:14 “To the angel of the congregation in La·o·di·ceʹa write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God:”
    Is Jesus not the Amen?
Proverbs 8:22 “Jehovah produced me as the beginning of his way, The earliest of his achievements of long ago.”
Hmmm…..Jehovah produced me as the beginning of his way…….
    Who is the way?
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.””
If Proverbs 8:22 isn’t talking about Jesus, then who is it talking about?
Please continue with Proverbs 8:30 “Then I was beside him as a master worker. I was the one he was especially fond of day by day; I rejoiced before him all the time;”
    Who could this be?
It sounds like God the Father, Jehovah, who has no beginning, first created the son (see above), then, the son, being God’s master worker (Contractor, sub-contractor, as it were😀), created everything else.
John 1:3 “All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.”
I’m going to repeat Jesus’ words to Satan when he tried to tempt him at
Matthew 4:10 “Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’””
I reiterate, just as Jesus did,
“HIM ALONE YOU MUST RENDER SACRED SERVICE”
    Just showing a different perspective.

This doesn’t explain Jesus being honoured as the Father is honoured John 5:22-23 (which would be idolatry if he weren’t God) Mark 1 literally uses the prophecy from Isaiah 40:3 which calls whoever comes after John the Baptist (in normal translations; the Lord and God) in the NWT “Jehovah God”
      -
Jesus is clearly God. He’s not the father, but his divinity is not up for debate. If people actually read their bible, they’d see that The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit share a name. I would say Yahweh, witnesses would say the Father is Jehovah but if The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit share a name, that name is God. Because we baptise in it, and baptism is a form of worship of the triune nature of God

So god sent himself to earth to prove to himself that he could be faithful to himself. 🤔 It doesn’t make sense that god would send himself. Obviously anyone could be faithful to the things they want. Through one man “Adam” sin entered into the world. Why would god pay for the sin of a man? Wouldn’t it make more sense that a man would have to pay for the sins that man has done. God inspired men to write the Bible and he made certain to write it in a way that makes sense to humans. So the title father and son makes sense to us because we are very familiar with the father son arrangement. Where in the Bible does it tell us not to take the father/son way of talking about god and Jesus literally? It makes so much more sense to send a separate person that isnt making the rules to see if they could live up to gods standards. Which Jesus did. He lived up to Jehovahs standard proving that humans are redeemable and gave all of us a hope for the future.

In the OT it is very clear that Yahweh creates everything, by himself, without any help.
“Who *alone stretches out the heavens,* And tramples down the waves of the sea” (Job 9:8 LSB).
“Thus says Yahweh, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, ‘I, Yahweh, am the maker of all things, *Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth all alone”* (Is. 44:24 LSB).
“Thus says Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker…. It is I who made the earth and created man upon it. *I stretched out the heavens with My hands”* (Is. 45:11-12 LSB).
JW's will claim that Jehovah is the source behind creation, but the OT doesn't speak about Jehovah being the source but the one actively doing the creating.
As Richard Bauckham points out, “In creation, God acted alone, 'I ... alone stretched out the heavens [and] ... by myself spread out the earth' (Isa. 44:24). As the only Eternal One (another frequent and related characterization of God in the Second Temple period), God alone brought all other beings into existence. God had no helper, assistant or servant to assist or to implement his work of creation. God alone created, and no one else had any part in this activity.”[1]
When Jehovah says, “I stretched out the heavens by myself,” he is not claiming to be the source but the one doing the action as Isa 45:12 makes explicit: “I stretched out the heavens with My hands.”
If someone said, “I built a house,” you could interpret that as them claiming to be the one who commissioned an agent (a contractor/builder) to build them a house (ie. they are the source). But if a person says, “I built a house with my own hands,” then they are claiming to have physically used the hammer to build the house.
Jehovah claims to be the one who actually created all things with his own hands. When we come to the NT, we hear the Father speaking to the Son in Hebrews 1:10 saying, “You, Jehovah, laid the foundations of the earth, and *the heavens are the works of your hands.”* Jesus is the one who did the actual creating, therefore Jesus is Jehovah/Yahweh.
Furthermore, Jesus didn't just create everything, he created everything for himself (Col 1:16). Jesus isn't a creation, he's the creator.
JW's will point to the same verses to claim Jesus is a creation:
      1. Prov 8 - Which is personified wisdom, not Jesus. Look at vv. 26-29 and ask yourself, who is doing the creating-wisdom or God? Is wisdom creating or is wisdom watching God create?
      2. Col 1:16 - πρωτοτοκος 'firstborn' is not being used chronologically in this verse, as JW's claim, but positionally (cf. Psalm 89 where David is called "firstborn").
      3. Rev 3:14 - JW's point to this verse to say that Jesus is the beginning, ie., the first created of God's creation. JW's are the only ones who think this is what John is saying. Christians look at the context of the passage. Some think "beginning" carries the sense of originator, the one who began creation by creating everything (cf. NET), others think αρχη should actually be translated "ruler" (cf. NIV) since he is sitting on a throne and is ruling in the context (vv. 14-21).
      4. John 3:16 - "only-begotten" doesn't mean Jesus is created, it means that he is the unique Son of God, who is Son by nature, not creation. Go read Gen 1 and ask yourself who created Adam. He is called "son of God" because he was created by God. Angels are called "sons of God" (cf. Job) because they were created by God. Jesus is the μονογενης 'only-begotten/unique' Son because he is the only one who shares the nature of the Father.
I suggest reading "Putting Jesus in his Place."

Was God "alone" when everything was created?
At Ge. 1:26 God says "Let US make man in OUR image..."
      Who was talking to?
Jesus. And John confirms this at Jo. 1:1,2 where he says Jesus was WITH God in the beginning.
      So there's two individuals.
Job 38:7 says the angels shouted and applauded during the creation process.
But all power comes from Jehovah God alone.
Jesus even told us at Mt. 28:18 that all power was given to him.
And Paul tells us at 1 Co. 8:7 that all things come FROM God and THROUGH Jesus.
Jer. 10:12 elaborates on this - He is the Maker of the earth by his power, The One who established the productive land by his wisdom And who stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
Jehovah created by using his son, (also called God's servant), Jesus to create.

Yes Mark, God was alone before creation. Angles witnessed part of creation and rejoiced, but they weren't there for all of the creation-unless you're going to claim that angels are eternal.
In Gen 1:26 we have a conversation within the Godhead, "let us make man." Who created man? God did (Gen 1:27; 5:1; Isa 45:11-12). Did he have any help? Not according to Isa 44:24 and 45:12. Adam is called "son of God" (Luke 3:38) because he was created by God. Who did the actual creating? The Son.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are distinct persons, yet they are subsistences of the one God.
The Son is the agent of the Father, the hands on creator. Jehovah's stretched out the heavens with his own hands. Did the Father stretch out the heavens? No. Heb 1:10 says it was the Son. That means he is Jehovah.
I've been over this many times with you.
