  • Having enjoyed the new performance headers from Soul Performance that were installed on my Porsche 911 just over a week ago, it's time for the Pepsi taste test. Can you tell the difference between the OEM headers and the Soul headers working with the valved exhausted system in either closed or open position? In this video we hear the comparison. Also, lots of people ask me all the time... Should I get headers? Will the noise be overpowering? Is there a drone inside the cabin? In this video we answer these questions and more. Let's check it out!
    As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

    Soul Performance Products 991.1 Long Tube Street Headers are built around large diameter, free flowing HJS 200-cell catalytic converters with long tube runners for maximum gains in power, throttle response, and flat-six engine tone.
    DETAILS:
    + Fits all Porsche 991.1 Carreras (2012-2016)
    + Designed and built in-house at our Willow Grove, PA facility
    + Power gains of over 25 whp and ft-lbs of torque!
    + All Soul components are backed by a renowned Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
    DEVELOPMENT & SOUND: The factory header design is a very simple, mass produced component not suited for performance. By creating a unique application for the 991.1 platform, we’ve focused on sizing the runners (2”) correctly to extract maximum power from the 3.8L engine while producing great gains from the 3.4L as well.
    POWER: Verified independent dyno testing at Apex Autowerks on a Mustang dyno revealed real, repeatable peak gains of 9 whp and 13 ft-lbs of torque with a noticeable improvement in the mid RPM range, well over 25 whp and ft-lbs of torque at 3,000 RPM for a boost where you’ll be at most during normal driving. Even greater power can be realized with an ECU tune, especially after 5,000 RPM where adjusting timing would make a significant difference.
    CONSTRUCTION: Each 991.1 header set is assembled out of T304L stainless steel. Merge spikes are incorporated to smooth exhaust flow into the collector and increase power. Thick water jet cut flanges cut to ISO 9001:2015 standards ensure perfect fitment and product longevity. Each exhaust is tested in a fixture to guarantee fitment and then foam packed to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
    HJS CATALYSTS: The highest quality catalytic converters available, known for their industry leading flow and durability. They are efficient enough to meet strict EURO 4 emission standards while still allowing for an increase in flow - all without a check engine light. The HD design uses premium triple foil winding for maximum strength. The brazing stripe is an extra feature in the interest of durability - it prevents the core from moving or experiencing any damage from sustained high horsepower abuse. We use a large and appropriately sized catalyst to allow for maximum gains - no compromises here!

    Thank you for making this. I am considering both and honestly like the sound profile with stock headers so I’ll prob start with just the rear section. That said, your car sounds amazing both ways and again, thanks for making this

      You’re very welcome! Thanks so much. Honestly, that was the same approach I took. I was a little hesitant about the headers at first so I just went with the valve exhaust. It’s a good way to go about the journey. Good luck!

      Great video! I do have to say, the Soul exhaust sounds so much better in person. I met a guy who has a 991 Carrera with the Soul exhaust (not sure about headers) and it sounded amazing. IMO, it sounded better and louder than my 997 Turbo which has Supersprint headers and Fabspeed exhaust. Plus, having the option to open or close valves makes the Soul a very versatile exhaust. Thanks for the video!

    Your title should be edited as (991.1) vs (911.1). Amazing sound though! just incredible. I think the exhaust actually made the biggest difference. Your little grin while you were lettings us listen in the cabin is priceless. You are clearly happy with them. Congratulations on the upgrade.

    What?! I thought valves were hige upgrade, had no idea headers made that much difference! OEM is like listening to someone with mask on and Soul without. Only Soul doesnt just remove the mask, it freaking turns the speaker into an absolute beast! I am tentatively planning on finally tackling my 996 in next month and once engine is sorted, definitely going to be looking into any soul products. I have the fab x which is pretty amazing, but would definitely prefer soul if they have the valve product for 996...ugh, miss my baby. Shes been collecting dust over last year...literally,. I’d say it’s about .2mm thick dust shell. I know, I am a horrible human being. James, the real thrill is lowry hill tunnel;). Oh, so many memories in that tunnel and in all of them there is this crazy grin on my face-hehehe.

    Excellent video! Thank you. Been searching exhaust for turbo s and you made excellent videos. For me, at least from outside, header and cat upgrade is too much. Especially with valves open, it does not sound like Porsche anymore. I wonder how the sound differs in the cabin in terms of loudness and pitch.

    991.1 3.4L with PSE here. Looking for a louder idle. From your (helpful) video, it seems the SOUL PP Headers increase the idle noise. Would you say there an accurate assessment? I’m trying to get more of that GT3 sound at startup and idle without losing PSE, as it sounds wonderful when driving.
    I might get the competition headers also rather than the street. Thoughts for my goals?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  Před 3 lety

      Get the street headers and they’ll give you what you’re looking for. Louder idle and that more raw sound on start up like the GT3. You’ll love them!

    • @hazemgiballi
      @hazemgiballi Před 3 lety

      Thank you for the reply. Do you think if I went with the competition (catless), I’d get the same idle sound result? They’re about $1K less and my state doesn’t care. Thanks!!
