    Tommy, you've truly nailed it with this insightful video on Porsche service maintenance! It's not just about the drive; it's about the longevity and reliability that come with proper servicing. Tommy, you're amazing. I loved all the angles you took with the camera to show how to do each thing, the music for the majority of the video gave that calm feel. I wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked on your video. I thought it was going to be the usual overhyped dude just talking about how awesome his 911 is.
    No. I was wrong. You were geuine, and humble about working on it. I have always steered clear of exotics because of the maintenance being too tedious, expensive, or they have some propriertary tool designed specifically for one job, and you can't do it without it. You've showed me its just another car. Same principles, you just have to tear it into to learn it. Gives me hope to buy one one day. To that, you've earned my sub, thanks a bunch Tommy!

    Bosch aren't known for being consistent on pre-gapping. But also, if you gap your own spark plugs you can set them to a wider gap and get better performance from the engine. Yep, you might have 0.7 mm as standard, but apparently the best performance comes at 1.14 mm. It really does make a difference (Of course, if you gap them too wide, you'll notice misfires).

    One tip? Please get rid of the rubber line attaching the gas cap to your car. No Function and a lot of risk of banging the cap to your car.... There is handy spot where you can put it when filling up. And let's be honest, when was the last time you've dropped a gas cap... hahaha

    Great content, I feel like DIY on the 991 gen onwards is just unnecessarily difficult. For the coils, did you notice they had any vaccuum type pressure on them? I’m just wondering how you’d get those coils out after removing that screw if they were kind of suctioned into the hole a bit given that it’s such a tight area with no room to get your hands in there

    two things. You shouldnt use straight dialectric grease. It needs to be dialectric / teflon compound BMW had it cheaper than porsche. Due to the heat from the proximity of the turbos, you need that type. Also you dont put it on the tip of the plug, you swab it on the inside 1 inch of the coil pack boot. That way the boot doesnt sieze on the porcelain. Also the bottom clamp of the turbo intake tubes are not to be reused. THis is all in the service manual

    • @djsashimi
      @djsashimi Před rokem

      @@TommyLGarage note the bottom one is different than the top one. Also note that there is blue loktight from the factory on the clamp screw. This is done to keep it from loosening up after many heat / cooling cycles. I guess in theory if you put new loktight on it it should work but porsche specs a new clamp just for that ONE clamp. I would keep an eye on it. I replaced mine with new and kept the old ones for a rainy day

      Gas cap itself will cause check engine lights with pressure sensor if not properly sealed. Necessary

    18,000 miles and you are putting new plugs in it, what for, spark plugs don't wear out with age, they wear out from mileage, don't be a sucker.

      It’s not about that. It’s about preventing them from seizing. That’s all it is.

    if you haven't worked on other cars already, I highly advise you not to do this. this is not a simple DIY project.

      It can be done. It’s not rocket science.

      my local indy porsche shop here in arizona charges $1100 for the service. the hassle of figuring stuff out on a $120k car is not worth saving $600. keep in mind i don't own any of the needed tools, including the ability to lift the car. i can also cut my own hair, as you said it's not rocket science. doesn't make it a good idea, if i've never done it before.@@TommyLGarage
