Pete and I swap out the stock exhaust for a Scorpion Serket pipe and do a sound comparison check. Saves 3.8 lbs. Available at Giant Loop giantloopmoto.com/product/sco... www.giantloopmoto.com
Looks and sounds great Juan. My bike came with a Yoshimura, in carbon. I still have it, a beaut, sounds troaty but so smooth... But it is too large, wide and too fancy looking. I wanted something more rugged for dirt riding. I went with the Leo Vince Corsa, which is very small and not loud. Looking forward to seeing your next videos with the new exhaust as background.
Have you ridden with this exhaust and the Siskiyou bags? I'm curious if the heat shield clamp would slide towards the narrow end of the taper while riding. Thanks for the great CB500X videos.
nice one Juan, I found the stock pipe too quiet and too heavy looking for my liking, I put a two brothers racing can on mine, and like you said, it's louder but not offensively loud, just a nice throaty note :)
Very nice sounding pipe. I notice the new pipe seemed to stick out a bit and that you had the exhaust hanger on the outside of the mount while the original exhaust can was on the inside of the mount. Is the correct mounting location on the inside or outside of the mount?
Exhaust sounds great. Can't wait until I can start the lvl3 mods on my bike. I've only had it 3 weeks and I've got 2200 miles on it already. Thanks for making these vids.
Hi Juan, I got one from Rally Raid about 3 weeks ago. I think it is Great. Looks & sounds a lot lot better, less weight hanging out side so bike is more balanced ( I think) and about 5% more power maybe because the engine revs much more freely at say 5000 to 6000 revs!!
You ever figure out what the tab by rear tire was for? Or do anything with it? I just installed this exhaust on my 22 CB500X and there also is a tab close to rear tire…
Great vids, check where you placed the scorp silencer I noticed on another vid it was placed on the inside of the footrest hanger. just not sure why the rear wheel is only 17" instead of 18" meaning your missing out on the best rear adv tyre available 'mefo super explorer' Enjoy
Hi chief, I'm looking at this exhaust for this bike. Really useful information but one question - do you know if this would fit under the Honda hard panniers? (And dumbass second question, was the baffle OUT on the Scorpion?)
If the stock exhaust fits the panniers, so will this one. Good question about the baffle. I just installed it out of the box and did not notice any additional baffle...
Haha! Thanks for the info. I think what I've seen is the other shape exhaust they do (yours looks like the 'taper' model and I've seen the 'parallel' model). Yours looks fine, the parallel not, so I know what I'm going to ask them for! Thanks very much for getting back to me. Happy riding!
@@blancolirio Just for confirmation relating to this question, the dimensions are less than for the stock exhaust, is that correct? I want to get this silencer but also to add some panniers that do fit with the standard. Thanks?
A nice video Juan, I think whenever you replace a standard exhaust you save weight, it's just some people like to make a lot more noise about it ;-) Is that a new R&G shock tube installed and peeking out from behind the rear wheel? Jenny Morgan is having a bit more influence than I realized :-)
+blancolirio Yeah I keep waiting for them to make it fuel injected. I will say for being old school I feel it's the best all around motorcycle out of the box in its price range. So long as you don't mind the big single and the carb.
LOL it would be a 10mm wrench. Can't wait to do what you're doin man love the videos. Got an XT250 will be upgrading to the CB500X this fall. What's the deal w/ the bracket on the header did you ever find out?
Wow talk about a quick reply, makes sense I guess though as a mechanic it seems rather odd for that to be the design choice to have a center stand be banging into the exhaust header repeatedly. Is there anything you can suggest to a soon to be owner of this bike? I'm looking at going w/ a Giant Loop Great Basin as I think the Coyote may not have enough volume. What would you recommend? I already have a Wolfman tank bag but not really feeling their saddle solutions.
Yeah I plan to, luckily I come from the world of lightweight/ultralight backpacking so base weight before food and motorcycle specific stuff is about 20 lbs. I plan to off-road and adventure ride a ton. I expected to do more off road and less road which is why I got an XT250 which it turns out sucks on road and impossible to do interstate travel with. Will be getting a CB500X later this summer.
Blanco, I like everything about you. Few questions: if the scorpion exhaust pipe is lighter by 4 pounds and sounds better and increases the horsepower by 1, then why Honda didn't bother to install it as stock pipe? Second, is this true that you are a light airplane mechanic in profession? And, where do you live? In which city? I hope be able to meet you one day. Clean work.
Ok Why can't a centre stand be altered to fit and what is that little stick / rod thing Jenny used to hold the bike upright on the trail while she fixed the puncture?
thank you sir, really enjoy your videos, I consider buying a 2016 model which has adjustable front fork, do you have any idea about the new stock fork, I mean should I change them into rally-raid' s fork? BTW, really hope rally-raid could offer tubeless spoke wheel
Thanks! If you decide to do the conversion, it will work with the new adjustable front fork. ...tubeless is too expensive at this point (for the spoke rims).
thanks for the replay! do u know how can i buy the Level 2 kit? there is no "the Level 2 Adventure Suspension Kit" on the rally-raid's web site " www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/honda-cb500x-cb500f?page=1 " and they are out of stock in Giant Loop " www.giantloopmoto.com/product/level-2-adventure-suspension-kit-honda-cb500x-adventure-rrp-433/ "
Rally Raid Level 2 kit link here...www.cb500xadventure.com/level-2 call Harold direct at Giant Loop 888-358-8347 and order one up, he can get it real fast if not in stock already...tell 'em Juan sent ya ;-)
Well-done, sounds great, saves weight. And Pete is learning to wrench. All good things!
In a few years, Pete will have all the "right" words for the job!
mate well done with the build. your bike is my inspiration. Im planning on getting one very soon
Top shelf! Cheers mate. Hopefully get mine in a few weeks. Awful quiet at the moment but didn't want anything too obnoxious. Sounds just the job👍
Yes the tab is a stop for the center stand, otherwise it rotates to far up past the swingarm.
Great build. Luv the Rally Raid conversation.

So awesome to see ya letting your little man help you there! He's destined to be a bike rider for life! :-D
Thanks coyote!
Pete cracks me up good little helper
great looking pipe totally finishes the bike look
Yes!
Have you ridden with this exhaust and the Siskiyou bags? I'm curious if the heat shield clamp would slide towards the narrow end of the taper while riding.
Thanks for the great CB500X videos.
Good thing about fuel injection is no reset to do with aftermarket pipes. I run my 650 BMW with baffle in and its loud enough 👍
FYI: the tab on the mid pipe is for a center stand stop.
Nice job, beautiful bike !!! hi from France ;)
Merci Kevin!
Sounds nice. I may have to get me one of them.
Does the tab scrap mud off the tyre? Sounds good without being too loud.
Looks good man! Just got a 2016 and was going to put the same pipe on. Did you get it from Rally Raid or stateside?
Awesome great vid!
nice one Juan, I found the stock pipe too quiet and too heavy looking for my liking, I put a two brothers racing can on mine, and like you said, it's louder but not offensively loud, just a nice throaty note :)

Good point Terry, I'll check that out....It seemed to line up outside, but you might be right!
Sounds really good. BR
Haha, the 'catastrophic converter' at 1:30, indeed, indeed....
50% off the price of new if you write it. Catastrophic sounds good. What was the weight of the stock pipe?
Exhaust sounds great. Can't wait until I can start the lvl3 mods on my bike. I've only had it 3 weeks and I've got 2200 miles on it already. Thanks for making these vids.
Thanks for watching, glad they help.
Note the rear shock resv. mount location has changed since my video.

ps. That little metal bit sticking out on side of exhaust (as mentioned) may be a rest for a centre stand?!?!?
Yep that's it. I probably should remove it-no center stand.
Great video mate. Looking at getting this pipe for my cb500x. Any sealant needed or just straight on. PS: good job Pete!😎
Thanks!...Just straight on...perfect fit!
c'mom remove the arrestor pipe !
It sounds really unique!!! I love it
You where asking about the piece welded to the pipe. It’s for a center stand if you have one.
Hi Juan ! Have you changed the rear "blinkers/indicators" ? They look neater? Thx
Yea, to fit the bigger racks, cheap LED's from the moto store...blinks twice as fast. I prefer the stock ones for visibility.
I think the tab is to test your skills with a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder.
You ever figure out what the tab by rear tire was for? Or do anything with it? I just installed this exhaust on my 22 CB500X and there also is a tab close to rear tire…
It's a stop for the centre stand - see earlier comments!
Great vid brother. May I know do you need power comandor for the slip on?
Nope.
Great vids, check where you placed the scorp silencer I noticed on another vid it was placed on the inside of the footrest hanger.

jajajaja!! great employee you got there!!! nice sound.
Looks great on the bike. Would prefer if it was tucked in a bit more though.
A nice video Juan, I think whenever you replace a standard exhaust you save weight, it's just some people like to make a lot more noise about it ;-)

Jenny Morgan is having a bit more influence than I realized :-)
Yep, I got me some fork boots too after replacing the fork seals...
Great
I love your bike, I'm so torn between getting a CB500X and doing the rally raid conversion or getting a KLR650. Decisions, decisions.
KLR is pretty old school by todays standards...HUGE difference is twin vs. single (not to mention the suspension).
I've had an A model KLR.
+blancolirio Yeah I keep waiting for them to make it fuel injected. I will say for being old school I feel it's the best all around motorcycle out of the box in its price range. So long as you don't mind the big single and the carb.

Yes, it's for a center stand bumper.
Great Basin good combo. keep your load light for optimum off road performance.
Get as much off road riding in as possible and go adventuring!

Isaac Hakimi it doesn't meet OEM emissions requirements for a global market.
any issues fitting if you have a centre stand?
Should fit perfect
Maybe that tab is to seat a center stand?
Oh yeah! Thanks Glover.
That's what I thought as well.
6:18, probably for double stand rubber knob.
Cataosphic Converter.... Freudian slip or correct terminology? Lol... nice exhaust system for the CB.
"fun with language..." ;-)
Which would you choose between this and the Akrapovic for the CB500X?
This.
Why?
THat tab is a stopper for a centre stand
What is your Front and Rear Alloy Rims size and also size tyre/brand. Thanks.
Azizi Trend 17" rear, 19" front...Continental TKC80 tires.
blancolirio Thanks bro
So what is the bracket for down near the tyre?
Dallas Cuthbertson center stand stop...
Ok Why can't a centre stand be altered to fit and what is that little stick / rod thing Jenny used to hold the bike upright on the trail while she fixed the puncture?
can you use this level 3 kit on a cb500f???
Yep!
You don't have to tune for a slip on can? You can't tell me it doesn't effect the VE tables
Nope, runs great.
@@blancolirio I'd be interested in seeing the AFR table through the powerband. Commanded vs. measured.
Just go ride the shit out of it, great bikes for long range adventuring. You dont need to worry about all that other stuff...its just a 500.
cute little man =)
Haha 4:46 I love it
How does it sound without a tail pipe? Like hammered dog poop..lol
Muito bom
so what's the tab for
brada11112 centerstand
thank you sir, really enjoy your videos,

No, you had it right the first time. Catastrophic converter. lol
Creating a cacophony of caterwauling sound!
9lbs v 5 lbs - gulp. Mechanic needs some overalls.
Haha rejet the efi bike
