Fine Bros tried to trademark a word and genre of video that they didn't even create to build some business scheme on-top of it that would require others to go through them to do any similar video.
Jirard just copyrighted the name of his series which he pioneered. People are still free to make videos of them completing a game and reviewing it, they just shouldn't call themselves "The Completionist" while doing so, because that would be misleading, which is what copyrighting is supposed to be used for.

New game is teased, people wanna get it. Color Splash, I would wanna get it. (But seriously, I now realize that it would be too much of my time taken up.)
Looking forward to Super Paper Mario, a pearl of a game that many people don't care much for, but it always holds a special place in my heart. Count Bleck and Tippy all the way.

one of the best things about this game is how good it STILL looks, they compensated well for the color and draw distance issues the n64 had by making everything on closed sets. it's just a really stellar presentation.

A lot of people did hate Super Paper Mario (and some still do). However, at the very least it had a narrative that was kind of interesting and some memorable characters. Sticker Star didn't even try to be a Paper Mario game in other sense other than the aesthetic.
Its a shame that this franchise decided to switch genres. Thousand-Year Door was one of my favorite games as a kid.
I know! I loved this series till they decided it's unique original format wasn't good enough and made it more like a normal mario puzzle platformer (which I never enjoyed).

Super Paper Mario has some RPG elements, so it kind of counts.
SPM was a platformer with *minor* RPG elements
TheLastCreeper Super is a platformer with RPG elements. Not saying it's a bad game, as it's a wonderful game. It's just not an RPG.

Well, we do not know about "Color Splash" yet and SPM was awesome, just not "Paper Mario" by tradition. But yeah, sticker star was pretty awful.

To be honest, from the little I have seen of the game it looks more similar to SPM than SPSS
I got sticker star as a kid and loved it, then I played the other games and now I feel ripped off...

probably my favourite mario game. I remember doing chores non stop for pocket money to get this. time to dust the n64 and boot this up again!
Man I think he should've talked more about Peach's playable segments. They give a good amount of plot and character development, especially for Peach and Bowser who tend to just be kidnapper and "kidnappee", also the different bosses. And I just think those segments pretty much have the most entertaining dialogue in the game

They are actually remaking the first games. Sony announced it at E3 this year. No release date though considering how good the Racket and Clank game turned out, I'm optimistic.
Skylanders actually dropped Spyro from the name and no longer gets new models made of him with every game iteration. If it wernt for the netflix original show, you wouldnt even know Spyro was part of it anymore.

Isn't that what Jirard is talking about? The stories being told (which is actually a kirby story) then Bowser sort of inserts himself into it? He does mention that it's a difference universe, and the Star Sages(?) art style is definitely reminiscent of Kirby.

Hal Laboratory was the company that produced a few of the Kirby games, as well as this one.
I've never seen a series so ruined by trying to actively add and change things for no good reason, all for the sake of change...
Not as bad as this. The only other series I can think of that have gotten the same treatment are Mario Party and Chibi Robo.

Paper Mario is great and all, but I would love to have a true sequel to Mario RPG: LotSS.
At this point I don't know if it'll live up to the hype. Kinda like Ghostbusters a lot of people have move to other things it'll be something not necessarily bad, but different. And people like to associate different to bad these days.

I loved Paper Mario as a kid! My Dad, Grandad, and cousins went to Washington DC one summer in an RV we used to have. We went to an RV park, and we ended up making friends with the RV next to us. At this age, I fell in love with Mario games and the Wii, cause they were what brought me into the gaming world. So, when our new friends had a Wii with Paper Mario, I wouldn't stop playing. Sweet memories...

I know Im over a year late for this, but I have to say it: I noticed that in many battles the enemy´s HP wasn´t showing, and I´d consider using Goombario´s Tattle on every enemy to be part of the completionist run for Paper Mario.

A few things that would make this game be way more replayable.
1: An option which removes partners from battles so Mario has to battle alone, increasing the difficulty.
2: An option which removes the power up blocks to increase the difficulty.
3: An option which allows Luigi to be a follower.
4: An option which causes switching out followers to use up flower points.
5: An option which adds additional opponents in the dojo.
6: An option to let you recruit that egg kid as a partner.
