You don't have to just guess in Flower Fields. You can talk to the Liar flower and it will give you backwards hints which will help you progress.
Is it just me or does every single reviewer always have one arbitrary complaint that nobody else gives a flying f*** about it? Seriously, it's like they literally pull these out of their asses for being afraid that some people might think they are biased for not finding something wrong with the game, or some other nonsense...

@@ultimategamer2669 I think it's because when PM64 came out, it was normal to talk to every npc to get hints. So as a ten year old I had no problem with this. These days if people don't have an objective marker telling them where to go they get lost.
For me it’s the best representation of the Mushroom Kingdom we’ve ever had. It feels respectful to the characters Miyamoto created while fleshing out the worlds. Goombas and Koopas and Boos that live apart from Bowser’s domain in their own little community, a realm of Star Spirits that effect the world below in mystical ways, the lighthearted humor based on Mario tropes. I adore how Bob-ombs just reappear out of thin air after exploding. It’s oddly adorable. The vibe of this iteration is the perfect mix of the classics that came before while transitioning into more modern ideas. It’s the first time we get in-game confirmation that Bowser has a crush on Peach, and we find it out because mister Big Bad Koopa King keeps a diary written like a schoolgirl, that’s hilarious! It’s just a magical little game containing this precious land I like going back to
Great and concise review dude. This game means the world to me. The summer I first got to play it, I beat it probably six or seven times in a row. Simply couldn't put it down. Gotta work right now but am watching your Thousand Year Door review tonight and can't wait.
Really fond of how imposing Bowser feels at the start, and throughout the game, up until the final confrontation. It’s easily the most threatening he’s felt in a Mario game that I can remember!
I played it for the first time this year, and I can say without nostalgia blinders, that its a fantastic game!

This was the first game that I ever played by myself. I was introduced to it by my older sister, and at the start, she helped me along. Over tine though, I just started playing the game without her, in fact, I even played it when I wasn't allowed to (we had a very strict screen time limit). To this day, I love it so much, and I want to play it again when I have the time. Actually, I want to replay it using the ttyd64 mod, specifically because that adds a lot of ttyd stuff that makes the gane even better, a difficulty selector, randomizer, only bow mode, choose starting location (before, during, or after the prolog), speed through dialog (but why would you do that?), and way more. I feel like ttyd64 is the best pm mod, and I want to do a complete playthrough with it.
It's hard to put in words how much I love this game.
This game was a huge part of my life to the point where my username is from it! The “Quizmo” part is from my favorite character Chuck Quizmo!!!

Star Storm is OP until the very end of the game 😂 on my recent playthrough I used it for the killing blow on Bowser after running out of FP/FP replenishing items
I think the graphics in this game look even better when rendered at 240p as it was intended.
All the imperfections are completely masked and it sorta makes the characters and the world look even more like they belong.
I bring this up 'cuz most emulators, including official, render the game at 480p and I always thought it looked a bit odd.

I played this game two years ago, and it was incredible
Nice review, it's a shame that this was the last game I was able to play out of the entire series thanks to Switch Online, but hey, there's no time like the present! I know the sequel does a lot of things better and improves on stuff previously introduced in this game, but the fact that some people just brush off this title as if it had never existed, genuinly annoys me to the core. I say this because, without this game's existence, we wouldn't even have any other games to look forward too. I know that this game isn't perfect in some areas, but at least it tried to add some flare to the Mario brand much like SMRPG by picking up where Square left off, whilst adding a required new coat of paint in order to not cause controvery with their copyright. In my opinion, I think this game would be ranked my 3rd favourite Paper Mario game, with Origami King slighty underneath it. In the end, I'm glad I finally got to play this and now that I've played all the other games in this series as well, now I can just wait until the next game releases, get lots of hate for no reason, and enjoy it anyway. Also, what is the "pun" you mentioned in Tubba Blubba's name at 20:22 - 20:26? I never knew there was one to begin with... Overall, great video and I can't wait to see the rest of the reviews on this franchise as well! (As I am currently binge-watching them all as I post this comment).
Apparently, it is a pun of "tub of blubber" that was the only reference I could find. That is kind of funny lol maybe that's it. I never knew there was a pun!

You did a great job on this review man! One of my favorite games of all time to me the best Paper Mario game personally even though I played Thousand Year Door first in 2004! Anyway great job!
The main problem there is with Paper Mario is that you cannot save after the end and play through extras/areas you missed, such as exploring the restored castle. Maybe a bunch of letters for your party awaiting at the post office. What about whether Kolorado made amends with his furious wife? Maybe Junior Troopa not being a bully and helps your party locate a hammer to break through that one block in Toad Town Tunnels that no hammer could break. So many ideas... At least the two sequels, you know the cataclysm is over. Having to fight through the final battle with Bowser after turning off the N64 makes the original Paper Mario an unfinished game, but not broken.

Paper Mario and its sequel were my favorite games for literal decades. Lately Hollow Knight has knocked it off the top slot, but I still love these games so, so much.
My favorite Paper Mario game is Super Paper Mario for the wii because I don't really like rpgs but the others are still fun
Paper Mario 64 is my favorite! My sister and I alternate playing 64 and Thousand-year door at least once a year haha. Personally, I really enjoyed the story of Super Paper Mario, and like the new approach, just wish they didn't stray so far after.@@littleevsamoyed7130

Start with 64, THEN do TTYD
The battle system of TTYD feels like an objective upgrade to 64, playing them in reverse might make 64 seem like a slog for a newcomer in that sense.

I miss Bollywood video, Blockbuster, and later on movie gallery came along but damn I miss those video rental stores growing up. The vibe in there was awesome going to pick up movies, or games always was a fun time.

You could use and emulator
Dolphin emulator can do gamecube and Wii games so you could get Super Paper Mario and The Thousand year door. And Project 64 is a N64 emulator so you could play the first one. Both are easy to set up.

Chapter 6 has a strong ending. Once you reach the huff puff machine it becomes fun. The boss is a lot of fun and once the sun returns flower fields becomes one of the prettiest looking sections of the game. But everything before the huff puff machine was kind of boring/ drab/ tedious.

Its okay, you can say the masterkillua texturepack looks like shit. Because it does. The character sprites suffer the most, with all of the dynamic posing, shadows, and forced perspective being flattened out, making them all look dull and lifeless in comparison to the original artwork.
Its especially insulting given how demotivating the pack is to other pack creators, since it has such a sizeable patreon and makes rapid progress, usually by replacing background textures with stolen assets from other games or using hi-res photos as stand-ins. Why would someone make a newer more faithful pack if "an hd pack already exists bro"?
Not to mention that it being the only big pack on the block and sucking up community resources ERASES the original art direction for anyone who plays using it. No more coloring book art style, no scratchy pencil text, no crayon colored backgrounds, nothing of the sort. Just bland, boring, single color flat texturing. Its depressing, its too big for its own britches, and it looks like shit.

Huff and puff was pretty difficult
Bring pow blocks to instantly kill all the small clouds. You can get a really good healing item from the path after the chapter 2 train if you hit the whacka on the head. Heals 25hp and 25fp.
