M48 Double Bladed Battle Axe Review: • M48 Double Bladed Tact...
i bought this recently as i am an avid collector of swords and knives, i absolutely love this gladius!!! when i got it i immediately went outside and tried to go ham on a mtn dew bottle but it just sent it flying across the yard so i was a little disappointed bit it looked just so damn cool it cheered me up. about a week goes by and i have to do some weed eating along a fence row. so naturally i grab my gladius in case i see a venomous snake i can dispatch it. so im weed eating and i hit a tree about 2 inches thick just killing the string. so i say what the hell and pull out the sword hoping it won't break on me, i give it a pretty good swing and this damn sword went through with almost no resistance and no edge loss or deformation. so i think to myself well damn and a set my sights on a larger tree about 4 inches wide. and again i had to take about 4-5 chops to take it down. so im sitting here wondering what the fucks in mtn dew bottles
Omg😂😂
I tried staving a tree with mine and the tip snapped 😭, didn’t wiggle side to side at all, just snapped as soon as it hit the tree
God you are so hilarious!😅😂
I picked one up. I could not resist buying it at the price. Very light. Very sharp. The sheath is not bad.
I have to say, you handle a sword like a expert
Great as always Israel, thanks for doing all the work.
I got the combat commander jungle tanto. Pierces like a pro.
Stab! Slash!! Slice!!! Stab! Slash!! Slice!!!
That is amazingly efficient at piercing.
Why can't we like these? Another great one.
His cuts are the best. Power and control
paul ballard Thanks bro
is it good like cold steel glauids
I don't know if I should get this or the Cold Steel Gladius machete...
Oh, the Gladius was design as more of a thrusting sword. Because, the Roman Soldier would be carrying some kind of large shield. Any idea what the velcro strap around the sheath is for?
Perfect mate for my cold steel!
Btw, you made those cuts look easy... Expertly done and impressive!!!
Thank you, good sir! This machete will serve you well, I've killed many a jug and bottle on here :D
Bought it!
Hey maybe u do a 5 min comparsion with the CS gladius?
Amen to that brother!
Good video. How thick is the thickest part of the blade?
Thanks!
What's the little strap for under the sheath opening?
Man you get some of the best shit I've wanted one of these for so long but they alll are wall hangers thank you
Much for showing it what great find just awsome
I'm a fairly small guy, so do you think this would be better than the slightly larger Cold Steel version?
Oh, and its 1065 High Carbon steel. High Carbon, starting at 1065. And its meant for hacking and chopping and stabbing flesh, not branches or bottles. It is not a machete I would use for chopping wood, clearing light brush maybe. And yes I have one. First thing I did with mine, was put the belt grinder attachment on my Ken Onion Work sharp and I cleaned up the edge to a nice 20 degree's. If you really want to hack wood, put a 22 degree edge on it, or maybe even 24 degree's. Just something I've learned since I began collecting blades back in the 80's. Oh and it is full tang.
I think when you're not hacking and stabbing flesh with it, it is ok to kill a water bottle when no one is looking!
I want one, but hard to get here.
Nice!
Holly SHIT!!! Not a chopper? Chopped that free standing gallon in two! Hmmm, my new Claudius Machete... SOLD!
Unlike the spartan sword, this is a blade worth the cash. If someone breaks in or if you have walkers to be disposed of, you'll want this instead of a heavier sword or a kitchen knife. With it's great pricing, 9.7/10. It's a machete, not a sword. Would be perfect if it were slightly thicker.
Subscribed!!!
Looks so effective. Would you say it is sturdy enough for home defense? I am trying to decide between this and the Cold Steel OSI.
It would be good for home defense, since you won't have to worry about concealing it, go for the longer one.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives thank you, much appreciated!
Did you touch up the cutting edge on this one? I ask because I recently purchased one and it came fairly blunt.
I didn't, but a touch up can't hurt!
Can you cut something other than slim plastic bottles ?
I could, but there is no reason to. This is based on a sword, a weapon. The human body is 60% water. So, the human body IS a water container. I could stab a rack of ribs or something like that, a bit more realistic, but that's costly and most people understand that it would go right through with ease. I mean, what material would you like? Vegetation, something like that? I know it is a machete, but I really don't think this is the type people buy for vegetation, know what I mean? I think you should just relax and enjoy the videos, this vid is old as f*ck, I got way better ones now.
I gots one luvs it,more fun then cold steels
you're a modern Roman legionare, if you had to choose one, what would you take, this or the Cold Steel gladius machete?
Go with the Cold Steel
I bought one of these and the handle split right away the handle is to Pieces glued around the Tang after awhile the handle splits and breaks off
I'm sorry to hear that, maybe it can repaired, some racket grip tape around the handle.
I just got mine yesterday.. not that sharp but I can fix that
How does it compare to the Cold Steel version?
tetsubo57 The Cold Steel version is a bit thicker and heavier, and about 2 inches longer.
any one superior like i like the handle of this one better
I like the handle on this gladius machete better than the CS version idk about the blade though
Jarvin Dubois Yeah, the handle is pretty badass.
Is the handle put together tight? Because I'm planning on buying one.
No problems with the handle so far!
Awesome, the reason I asked is that I watched a review of a double-edged machete that was made by the same company and was slightly thinner and longer. It had a different handle than this one which was much more basic but ergonomic. And the style of the machete was similar to the one I considered buying and it looked like it was from the same product line. Because of both machetes having the same the same blade width and the same handle, the only difference being was the machete he was reviewing. Was straight and double-edged and the one I was planning on buying was a combat commander tanto machete which is curved and single edged. In his review, he tested the machete blade and it held up fine but he said the handle rattled and wasn't completely secured to the blade. So I decided not to buy the tanto machete and go for this one instead.
Actually, I think that looks nicer than the Cold Steel version. Mind you, you would'nt want either of them to get inside you tbh.
good as the cold steel Gladius?
Yes it is.
It is NOT a machette.
Couldnt wait anymore and ordered one last night.. not sure why so many people want to chop on wood with any knife.. better job specific tools.. leav blades for cutting attackers so they'll always be ready and waiting.
Excellent! I have a lot of the M48 and Combat Commander blades, all their polearm machetes are good too.
Looks way cooler than cs one
Nice video 👌 is it full tang?
Yes it is
@@WeAllJuggleKnives thank you 👍
This isn't based on the Roman Gladius, it's based on the Greek Xiphos.
Why would you think that? A xiphos has a more rounded leaf shaped blade with a guard and a small cylindrical pommel. This is designed after a Mainz style gladius as evident by the aggressively angled shaped blade and gladius style handle and flat semi circle pommel
Wowsers
RIP POLAND SPRINGS
How much are they and where can I get one
They are around $20 and you can get them through the Amazon link in the text box, click the link there for Combat Commander Gladius, enjoy.
WeAllJuggleKnives thank you
Is it full tang?
yes
+Michael Mist yes
Did you sharpen it?
Ryan Polly No
Bro is bad ass
paul ballard Thank you
I wouldn't want it to fail on me in a self-defense situation but trees don't usually attack you so I'm betting you have better luck with softer targets but we all like our machetes and swords and knives to be able to handle a little bit of abuse so I do understand I would be disappointed but I don't stab trees with pointing machetes that don't have a quarter inch thick spine I don't even stab trees bro
is this wroth it to buy XD sorry of dumb question
+Robert Savill - It is worth it because it's not too expensive.
+WeAllJuggleKnives Thanks man, ima sub
ever see that movie Troy? if I got this shit i'd try that big jumping stab to the throat he did to boagrius in the beginning to the first attacker I could find LOL
he actually stabbed the guys heart and lung not his neck.. he went in between the neck and shoulder.. that's why the guy took a step or 2 and then fell down dead
I know what he did, entry point was at the base of the neck to slip beside the collarbone. thank you Dr. Too much fucking time on his hands, get a hobby.
I keep hearing about rattling in the handle. Could you do a vs video on how this stacks up against the cold steel gladius!?!...:) jk but your input means alot great channel!!!
paul ballard Thanks,buddy
but really how does it stack up against the cold steel version
hmmm yes, not so good for slashing but excellent for stabbing
i always see these blades alot, it doesn't give me interest to buy but maybe i'll give it a try
That sword is gaulish, not roman. Even the word is gaulish : "cladios".
