If your buying Estwing you know you have a rugged long lasting tool. Hands down favorite company for axes and hammers. I never knew they sold knives and machetes!
I love the big USA on the blade. MURICA!!!!!!!!!!
I don't by into nationism, it gets us into wars for profit, mostly and creates havoc for asylum seekers and POC. Not Good. It's exactly what motivated the German people to support Hitler and the Nazis in the 1930's. It's not a 21st. Century mentality. In the US, you are either a Native American or an Immigrant.
it really makes people look foolish thinking we are the best in the world, when there is the CERN particle accelerator on the Franco-Swiss border, then you have Rolex watches, BMW's, Mercedes, Toyota's, the Koenigsegg Regera and Lamborghinis. And don't forget imported beers. :-)
Oh my god shut up

Nobody cares. Shut up go live overseas for awhile.

After you're done chopping through the jungle, you can flip it over and use it to comb your hair.

+WeAllJuggleKnives Cool !
Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool You tha' man, you really need your own tv show dude, you would give Bear Grylls a run for his money.

Wow thanks !
Mayor Fuglycool
+WeAllJuggleKnives If the point where the handle meets the blade was thicker, and the back was flat instead of a saw, I would love this thing
+AquaAriaSachou Yeah, it is almost like this is a prototype, it could definitely use some refining of the design.
Id buy one if the made the USA bigger.
+vagabond88817 I hear ya LOL

cathode follower there’s nothing wrong with buying American made tools. Personally I like products from all over the world but my favorite tools are made in the USA.
Lmao !
I too like to spend my money locally if i can . So many greedy shitheaded proffieteers sold out their loyal workers to make a little more for themselves by outsourcing their product manufacturing. Sure it gives people jobs to who need them but at the same time exploits the workers by paying them almost nothing. Hell yeah ill support a local made in the usa company that was able to stay in business against all odds over the decades. Hell yeah made in the usa means something and hell yeah ill buy the estwing machete and carry it next to my estwing tomahawk. Oo ra ,semper fi.
They make a terrific hatchet .
take the edge the full length of the blade and ditch the saw back and I'd buy 3. I love my Estwing tools, but that design looks like it was made to look cool instead of being useful.
Yeah... There is absolutely no reason to not go back further with the blade. I'd rather have a functional saw personally but I would rather have no saw than this saw though.
I've had mine for some time now and i have gotten use to it's quirks. It's pretty darn awesome, anytime i have an excuse to use it for something I'm like "yippee, i get to use the big knife"
I will say that it seems to be a great chopper despite its oddity. I'm sure the solid steel construction, as well as the extra length and leverage give it an edge over any lighter chopper when dealing with thick/hard stuff. I'm really impressed that the edge held up being a mid carbon steel!
Made in the USA too, not a ton of cheaper choppers can claim that.
Thank U for the links 👍
I'll get one and also the Double Blade Ax
That's a very interesting offering from Estwing. The long shock absorbing handle is a definite positive for a chopper, and completely unique to Estwing. The saw looks to be of the type that won't get clogged, because of the alternating teeth. The round guard is cool, almost tsuba like. It's just a completely different interpretation of the machete. I like it. I just wonder if it's too heavy. Thanks for showing us it, Israel.
The teeth are set right, too. A saw is the opposite of a knife profile in that it starts out thicker and gets thinner towards the spine. That way friction does not cause it to bind up in what it's sawing through. They just powdercoated over the teeth for ease of manufacturing so they need cleaned off.
Kewl find man.
Thanks for showing.
+shazzzam79 Welcome, thanks for watching!
It is a great big forged carbon steel bladed knife. I think them calling it a machete is odd. For the money it is a good US made blade.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful estwing product.
I'll have to look around for one.
Btw, have you reviewed the Camilius Carnivore X or Conivore Xz yet ??
It has been improved. Actual Full Tang now. Aggressive saw on the back that chews up wood and Bone...
i love it!!
When I was a carpenter, a lifetime ago, Eztwing hammers were all the rage. And for good reason. I've owned three. first two were stolen from me, so I bought the hug heaviest I could find. No one stole it and I could barely swing it. But those hammers, and the Estwing hatchet I grew up with, earned my respect. This machete however, looks chintzy. I don't think it lives up to my expectations of Estwing quality. I sure hope Estwing doesn't't go the way of Gerber (although U.S. made Gerbers are, generally, still of excellent quality).
The sawback doesn't impress me either.
I know how you feel although I am used to be a Boilermaker, steel fabricator.
Estwing make beautiful hammers, I still have my original hammer I started my apprenticeship with near 30yrs old now and still serviceable.
Mind Blown!!
awesome looking Machete....
+White Kitta Thanks!
This feel more like a bowie knife than a machete, maybe it can be used as a cleaver too...I have to buy it.
It's kinda destroying the eff out of that wood. I love this. USA! Dig it.
+Armed Rogue Glad you dig it!
Cool looking blade. I love machetes and other heavy chopping blades. I know alot of people are harping on the saw back feature as being useless but I am thinking it is more people not knowing what it is for. The Ontario SP8 machete has a similar blunted saw back too and it is for making notches in wood for shelter building and the like. My guess is the same was intended here. I am guessing as was mentioned by others though that the marketing department got it wrong on the advertising.
I really did not think this machete would function as well as it did. Not bad, at all! A lover of machete blades would certainly want this as part of a collection.
+Teachering It made a decent mini hatchet.
Oh shit baby!!
Ive got both double bit axes, wooden handle and rubber on the other.
Both tomahawks too, the black one has found its way onto my combat pack.
And now you've just shown me my next new deer hacker!!! Lol
Right on bro!!!!
+Richard Morrey That's the spirit! Estwing all the way!
Say Heah Israel, it looks like it would make a good Summer Long Knife for going through brambles, and that spine could be used as marking trees ?
Oww the ring of the machete is good to hear... I owned a stanley hammer and it also has a ringing sound when i pound nails..they said that THAT RINGING is a sign of a good steel🇵🇭
Estwing makes really amazing tools, but they aren't much of a machete company. Their hammers are the best in the world, IMO. They also make a little tool called the Fireside Friend which is an absolutely god tier wood splitting axe.
I’m looking to buy one for that handle alone. Wish some knife companies would look to partner with estwing to put that handle on their knives. ThAnks for the review.
No shit I never knew they made that.I gotta get one.I can tell you this though I hate the saw like edge of it.Still cool beater blade.
+Michael Daury Yeah, new Estwing products are always going to catch my eye, they are a very popular brand with my viewers.
you didn't test the saw blade I've tested it on branches different sizes on pine trees and cut just fine
I just think saw teeth should have points on them.
hey long time no see my brother cool video bud
Thanks, bro!
new and exciting to me. thanks.
+cyclist01222 welcome!
different good review
very cool
+JW's BulletsNBlades Thank you, bro.
I like the practical utility design of the Estwing. Speaking of saws, like on the back here, have you ever reviewed a Silky folding saw? I'd love to see you review a folding large tooth Silky Gomboy 240! I got one last night on Amazon for $30 and am pretty excited to see if it lives up to the hype.
Estwing (I worked for a tree cutting company 15 years ago & the guys pronounced it “East wing,” but I don’t know if that’s correct) (one of them stole my Estwing large camper’s axe, so I bought another one) should make several variations on this intriguing tool. A longer, lighter one as more of a true machete; a Bowie with a hand guard; a tanto tip; a slightly curved one designed mainly as a saw; a 3” Cali-legal one (partly kidding).
This model looks like it was designed to be carried by a ripped hero in an action movie à la Rambo or Predator. In other words, I want it. I bet those saw teeth that people are criticizing are great for moving thick vines out of one’s way on trails, since it’s not very eco-conscious to crudely hack through all vines one encounters.
I am very happy they are opening into new markets,I feel the execution could have been handled far better.
Hopefully a look of things to come.
+jacak47410 They should get into knives, there would be huge interest with their brand name behind it.
Yes sir!
looks like the handle spins in the hand some?
I never knew they made this. A refined or different version would be interesting.
Keep in mind it,s a steel forging facility not a mill works with lathes and such . They have been drop forging white hot steel for a century . It's what they do.
OMG. Good video, nice to see someone with vocabulary and some intelligence and sophistication. I have an Eastwing 28 oz. framing hammer. Eastwing is the best. This thing could chop down a giant California redwood tree. It's $46.50 on Amazon, kind of pricy, but it's the ultimate survival knife, which makes it a real value.
It's probably intentional leaving the saw portion dull. You can sharpen it with a Dremel and a diamond bit pretty easily.
Be careful with a dremel tool. It's real easy to grind metal off-now putting metal back on is a tricky proposition. You can also burn out the heat treatment of those tiny teeth real fast and they will never be sharp again. Best to use a diamond needle file.
Out of the 3 I would personally choose the Estwing, a lot of comments on how it looks, but you know the Eswing is not going to fall apart, and the handle, is tried and tested all over the world, when it comes to construction, having been in construction for most of my life I can attest to how good the handle is, the Ka-bar looks like they are using a cheap peace of plastic for the handle, and other other machete, I dunno, who makes that, but it does not look to good on the vibrations.
Does the machete blade have any weight? Can it be good for swinging, or cutting off thick rope? Like a butcher knife? Please reply, thanks.
Yes it is a heavy machete, more like a machete for thick brush like the Woodsman's Pal.
I like it. The handle looks odd but I swing an Estwing hammer all day and it's comfortable so what the hell. I would immediately grind off that damn saw though, you'd think that if they took the time to include it, they'd make it a nice one not that useless crap.
Nice. I could do without the saw teeth or just maybe a couple inches of the. Would have liked to see you try sawing with it., just to see if they were usable for notching. Looks like a good chopper. Interesting.
I want that!
where do u get one or look at I am in alabama thanks
Saw is sharp. Just wear off the thick protective coating or break it off with a file.
These people are typical armchair warriors. They go for looks instead of functionality.
As a carpenter I sometimes build a deck or tool shed and come across brush to be cleared. I have losts of estwing stuff so I think this sells to carpenters etc more than bushcraft types. I wouldn't put a Kabar machete in my tool box but I would put this in. Hmmm wonder how much it cost
Does the 36.3 ounces include the sheath?
Awesome liked the test brother ! :)
Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool Thanks, brotha!
االقفباثض
the saw is for notching . not cutting
where can this Machete be purchased at? I could use one if it was a few inches longer.
+Steve Jones They sell it on amazon, there's some links in the description for ya.
Ok thank you.
How thick is this machete?
The saw teeth will handle much more abuse than a sharpened tooth. When you use a piece of wood as a club to strike the back of the blade to split firewood the saw teeth will help minimize deflection. This is a survival tool..
Yeah that is true, I guess there are indeed some benefits to these saw teeth.
I think that the Estwing marketing department really dropped the ball on this one. They should have --advertised this as a post-apocalyptic mutant/psycho/zombie killer blade to tie in with Mad Max Fury Road. If they can get Tom Hardy to use one in the next movie, they could sell like ten million of these.
Rubber hammer handle on a machete makes me want to cry.
Me too. We can cry together.
Awesome looking knife thinking the blade needs to be longer
Cool. I love Estwing and I love the made in the USA status, but I still think my Ontario 1-18 military machete is superior. It’s also made in the USA.
If Estwing made a proper bolo, I’d definitely take a close look.
They should make a 1/4" thick version that doesn't have a saw back
+WeepingAngel04 That'd be cool.
You are right WAJK the saw teeth could have been left out and just give the blade a flat back to use for batoning , the edge on my opinion should have been more of a convex edge but it is a cool machete non the less. What do you think of the new COLD STEEL Chinese War Sword Machete.
+TangSooDoArnis4Life I've had one of the Chinese War Sword Machetes for at least a month or two now, actually I filmed a video with it, but haven't put it up yet. It is destined for some water jug-killing glory.
How thick is the blade?
I need one
I was wondering about that saw blade on the back from pictures. I guess they didn't clean the powder coating off the teeth after they baked it on. D'oh! They make skinny little files coated in industrial diamond grit for sharpening saw teeth like this. You could make the saw viable with one of those. The teeth are the right shape at least. That's a step in the right direction (that direction being "away from silly Rambo knives sold on Cutlery Corner"). I also wonder how hard it'd be to do a stacked leather handle on it if you cut off the foam rubber. Having matched sets of tools is kinda sexy.
There is so much wrong with the design of that thing I scarcely know where to begin. There's one thing for certain and that's that whoever designed it didn't have much experience with actual machetes. Estwing's classic designs are, for the most part, well thought out, but their latest forays have been disappointing to me personally.
+FortyTwoBlades Yeah, I saw one of these before and had to pass on it. And you certainly have some idea how many machetes I buy, heh. Like my Estwing hatchets, but this machete just isn't my bag.
Basically when you buy a estwing you are buying a tough piece of drop forged steel . Our old schwinn and mongoose bmx bikes proudly boasted a drop forged handelbar goose neck. They almost never broke from years of extreme use.
Ok troll lol
would never buy this thing, still enjoyed your video br., It's an interesting peace though, thanks for sharing bro!
+MISTER AGB Thank you for watching!
Luuks like the teerh are offset like a old school carpenter saw. Ill bet you could strip bark and twigs fast with those teeth as well as hew down wood. Old houses have hand hewn joists underneath the porch so that rain will run off to the front. When i see one in lows ill buy it that way it wont be an impulse buy. My tomahawk was a bit of an impulse buy. God forbid if i have to fight a bear and i dont have a heavy gun and all i have is a estwing machete and a estwing tomahawk i just hope someone gets it on video.
Wow where do you find all these knives lol.... 1055 is some tough-ass steel. What's up with that stupid ricasso! i would much rather the edge run close to the guard and this would go a long way toward making this a good one tool option for woods survival, right? Thank you
I would have liked the blade to go further back. Plus an actual saw on the top if it had those two things then I'd buy it any day.
I just love to hate this blade they got weird when designing this
seems you have the only review on it, have you tried stripping the paint off the blade and saw back to see if thats what they messed up?
I was wondering the same thing. With the quick glimpse given of the spine, it appeared the teeth were meant to be a saw. However, putting a coating on them would cause any saw to feel less sharp and to become rounded. When I saw that saw back, I immediately thought of several scenarios in which this tool find its way on my excursions. Then when he said it wasn't a saw, I thought of either removing the coating to see if it is supposed to be a saw, or taking it to the grinding wheel and flattening out the spine. Either way, something would have to give if it where mine.
WeAllJungleKnives, what are your thoughts?
Disappointed with the fake saw, though. I mean if you're going through all that trouble, at least make it work, ya know! How much did this thing set you back, anyways?
+Bigg Dawgg It's around $45. Yeah I don't think they meant it to be a saw. But the advertisements for it claim it has "sharp teeth" and that it is for "wood and rope." I think the marketting department wasn't communicating with the design team.
I dunno. I know knives and steel pretty well and it looks like the blade is cast steel because of the raised lettering and the detent in the blade looks like it. I'm kind of suspicious about this one. Castings can have flaws and can be brittle. Ordered one, but the sawback is going to be ground down and the blade contoured accordingly. Might even remove the lousy plastic-look coating to bare steel.
It does look cast, I'm sure you can mod it to fit your needs, it is just a very unconventional design, the machete purists out there will not like this one.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Yeah, but after looking at it for a while very closely, I think I'll leave it as it is and not do any mods on it at all. I had a chance to check the handle with a neodymium magnet to see if the tang was cut short or wire welded, but, holy moly!, the thick steel goes all the way to almost the end of the handle with a bit of a taper. This machete is as good as it gets, so congratulations Estwing, I was off base and they did a great job. This blade should last a life time as long as ya don't abuse it.
Update please!
big USA on it....sold.
+dandandatreeman They're sure playing it up!
+WeAllJuggleKnives only in Marcia!
I wouldn't have guessed that as a machete. It looks more like a big bowie sans clip point. It would cost them less to manufacture without the useless sawback that does nothing. That looks like someone from marketing thought it up.
Interesting
+Jeff Baeder thanx!
Not bad . Get rid of the saw tooth and coating , make it an 18 or 22 inch blade..I'll stick with their hammers for now .. Cool vid thanks bro.
+Mariano Mesa Yeah this could definitely use a version 2.0
To short to light and it needs a flat serface near the end of the top side of the blade for a hammer surface
Now I'm not sure if I'd buy. Seems like it was made to be a weapon.
If I had it, I would grind away the faux saw teeth and try and sharpen the area in front of the guard. Its not that practical looking as it is, and seems like a bit of a gimmick and it also seems like something that would be produced in China. Hopefully this isn't a precursor or prelude to Estwing being bought out by the Chinese, which sadly seems to be all the rage lately. The finish and look of it really does remind me of a Chinese low budget item.
+traderjoes wow the china hating is strong
Most likely the companies in China are under Jewish control.
jordan nazif fuck china and the commie americans that send their products there.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
: ) Tyler
Made in Rockford Illinois I got one of those when the frist started making him one of the greatest machetes I've ever owned the saw back Will saw a 2in to 4 in log with very little effort and look like nothing has ever been done to the saw. I have cleared pastures for horses with extreme overgrown weeds and Cockrell bushes in a few hours with it. As tall as me. The thing is the Shit.
I dunno. looks pretty beefy to me. it didn't break.so, yeah . it's ugly but funcional.
i would of like to seen the saw in action
+Sergio V I thought about it, decided applying the needed force to it with the sharp edge pointing back at me wasn't a good idea.
The one piece construction seems pretty bullet proof so I like that, the handle will rot and fall off in time so that's a bummer and the saw back is useless as is, also I wish the blade grind went all the way down, I'd buy one if the price was right.
+John Smith Yeah the blade grind is pretty weird, where they put the bevel and then the flat part behind the bevel is thinner.
I love Estwing, this is likely pretty functional but Fugly...
Its extremely functional when used properly.
Notches on the spine absorb the impact when chopping
their logo is a bit big on it, haha. if that pointless huge ricasso wasn't there, the sawback was better, or gone, then maybe i'll be interested
i like the rubber handle and one piece construction.
iv'e had a tramontina bolo machete for 10 years, ive bought other machetes since, but none of them have been better than the tramontina, so ive sold each one of them. i haven't tried a martindale golok, okc military machete, cold steel machetes or the made in thailand traditional thai machetes, i think they would get the job done, and i'm going to get a cold steel gladius machete soon (want a modern style sword) but i've wanted a cold steel latin, panga or magnum kukri machete for years now, if the gladius is good, i think i'm gonna go get their magnum kukri or kopis machete, and eventually get one of the wakizahi machetes too (sadly the katana machete is illegal in my country, so is their thai machete, but i can still get the wakizashi, which is probably more durable and practical, and better for one-handed fighting)
i reccomend the tramontina bolo, it's never let me down! i'm gonna get one of their latin 18" machetes soon too (bolo is 14") it's cut through anything i tput infront of it and has never let me down.
god bless all of you guys, keep your knives sharp and your wives and families safe :)
Get a small precision file and sharpen up those saw teeth buddy!
I really like your vids, dont let a new fan down here bro with dull saw blades!!! lol
But seriously dude if you go and buy a small file for doing that sized work, on the finer side, and practice with it (USE TONS OF OIL ALSO!) on something else first to get the hang of it, then you'll be able to sharpen those teeth, as well as any knife tip, axes etc etc.
I would try sharpening the saw!
+Per Sonne While singing old Goergia chain gang work songs!
+WeAllJuggleKnives If I had to use a file. Then I would probably need a couple of weeks and many "Chain Gang songs". But I think I prefer a CNC machine and some AC / DC! ;)
That's a bowie knife
hmm interesting, never knew they had a machete. A saw that doesn't saw? Why would they put that on there? Seems odd.
no it will never replace the woodsman lol lol bud you know thats true but a good machete still one of the best hey you know it is so the woodsmans pall is a one of a kind awsomeness ess ess lol lol a great american blade thats forever yes i been wanting one for 20 years just not done it yet but i will i know people who do have one and it is great im sure you have one but not me not yet but im getting one i dont want the eastwing though not my thing even though i know it is great like all eastwings just not me love the video bro cool
It's really just a big tracker knife.
Say Heah, I prolly would of got the Estwing Machete, as my Summer Long Knife just because it's a Estwing, But I'm still happy with my Rodent Rucki and my Ka-Bar Johnson Adventure Parangatang, But I was at the H D and considering I didn't have to pay shipping and had my choice out of the litter, I got a good Double Bit Hatchet at a pretty good price. I haven't used it yet, But it's a much heavier Double Bit than my 2Hawks, It came with a decent Sheath, but nothing to write home about, it's a ballistic nylon with a plastic insert, not bad ?, But lately I've been paying attention to tge weight on hatchets/axe and there's a time for them, Yrah, I'm actually impressed with it, Pictures don't do it justice, After all, it is a Estwing, , ,
Would've been better without the back saw & long finger choil.
It the saw does not work, I would grind it off so it does not damage the sheath .
Great review... Do you still plan on reviewing the hanwei banshee?
+steve bledsoe Yes. I came close to buying one this month but sadly a bunch of other thing$ came up.
mowing the section of your yard where you chop up wood must be a bitch
+JOSHtheBIGDOG It is difficult. BUT THIS IS THE LIFE I CHOSE.
I'm not limp wristed or weak, but I still think 36 ounces for a machete is too heavy. It looks cool and all just not my cup of tea.
I wish they made the machete and the knife with their stacked leather handle.
Good review !!! If that spine worked well as a saw, I'd buy one. Oh well.
+jamespaul02 Thanks for watching!
It does look a bit as if they were trying to do too much, and I mean that they're quite good at making hammers and hatchets, but it takes some very different ingredients to make a well designed knife or machete. I think it's the only partially useful saw-teeth on the back that ruins it for me. They're trying too hard to snag the "Bear Grylls crowd"....
well... it ain't gonna win any beauty contests, that's for sure.
