I love Estwing products, I'm not really sure about their new machete and knife, the designs seem a bit weird, but I strongly recommend their Carpenter's Hatchet and all the other stuff they make.
I think your reviews would display a greater effect if you factored in the price point. At this price point it is an extremely tough knife and will outlast many knives which are at a higher price point. I have had 80 dollar knives not be as tough as this knife. So just giving you a little constructive advice for future videos otherwise a fair review.
I could see someone using this as a backyard beater for prying, digging and cutting branches and what not. As a camp knife no but as a durable beater yeah.
I would definitely carry it over a k-bar. the k-bar might have bin good at one time but doing some research on it cause I wanted one iv seen a few vids of the tang braking on the newer ones and being a military knife you should be able to do anything with it and not brake.
this thing has a beauty unto its own. it is one piece of steel. the handle is clearly a compromise, how ever, the strength of one piece construction is an acceptable trade off.
I have an axe like that with a wood handle .i cut off the hammer part and put a 17" handle ( modified double bit axe handle ) Use it all the time . I was one of they only people on a survey crew to break an estwing axe .but it made a good matching small axe .
I can foresee a soon to be discontinued commercial failure here, which will become a collectible a few years from now. I'll buy at least one model to keep as a curio.
I really really like the blade profile, narrow near the handle for better control while carving and a big heavy belly near the tip to help with chopping, but I hate the handle! it ruined the knife for me
I think they really missed the mark here. If they had made a stacked handle knife that Notre matched their camp hatchet & ax that would have been something. I would like to see a nice wide drop point with a sabre grind and no recurve, just a good full belly. That would be what I'd love in an "Estwing outdoor utility knife."
Nathan Gambino If they had used this shape of blade, same size as on their machete , stacked leather handle , and then called it a camping/outdoor knife?
Ok. Well background noises will sometimes happen, so if that's like a huge thing for you you should know it's probably going to happen again at some point, despite my efforts at perfection.
Thank you for the video.I now know to stay away from their knives and machetes. I love their hatchets I will stick to what they are good at.thanks again.
Nice. I just got a worksharp. Still in it's packaging. I like to look at new stuff for a few days. This will be a lean month now. Bought a worksharp ordered a camera. I guess no knives for me for a few weeks.
I love Estwing. I have their fireside camp hatchet mallet combo, their small hatchet, their camp axe, the small mallet I refer to as mjölnir, and multiple hammers. I will definitely be ordering their drywall hatchet now, but not this knife. It looks wonky.
Say Heah Is, Good price, But if it's the same steel, I dunno, I think it's going to be too soft for me. The price did catch my eye, But then I started to think, Oh, Oh, yeah I did start thinking, I could only compare my Estwings I have the three sizes with the Leather and Shock Absorbing Rubber Handles, Sure their tough, but they don't hold as good of an edge even like my Mexican made Kobolt Hatchet, Let alone like my G. B. and my Hults, I even notices a significant difference between my 6150 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and the Estwing Double Bit Hatchet. and besides, I just bought a Mora Garber for a pretty good price and that's made in the 12c27 which they make Ice Skate blades from. I'm not a steel snob just to be one, But I expect my knives to hold a decent edge, But if I can get a strong knife that works wood good, That's what I'm talking about. Besides for about $30.00 more, I got the Mora Garber. I've had pretty good success with that 12v27 stainless, My Mora 2000 is made with it and it became one of my Fav. knife that I use in my Lite Carry when I go for a nice hike and search for Fanwood then have a nice afternoon delight, a hot cop of coffee on the open fire and a baked potato, Beats Mc Dee's scenery any day. Anyhow I teamed my 2000 with the Mora Hatchet and carry my Bacho Laplander in my Haversack with some of the other C's and That's what I'm talking about, And the set didn't cost me a arm and a leg. Now I'll add the Garber to my Mora Stable, Oh, I also got a Mora Forest Exclusive #277 which looks like a pimped up Classic #1 except its handmade with a laminated blade and beautiful hardwood handle with brass bolster and pommel and its a full stick tang, Lemme know how that edge holds up. By the way, My Estwing Double Bit Hatchet replaced my leather handle Sportsman hatchet.
Paul'ie 4X hm it is Garberg, it is named after a place near Mora. It is a forrested area. Google it, it looks nice. Berg means mountain like in Eisberg/isberg =iceberg.
bowie !!!!!! this needs kept in a draw with jessica x and never opened.if a knife cant cut a 2" stick then cut a rizzila skin then its trash lol horses for corses o
Is this *cast*?! Or... forged? Maybe? That’s very odd in terms of conventional knife makers metallurgy. I wonder what their tempering process is like... time for some mfr vids I guess.
That is quite possibly the ugliest knife I have ever laid eyes upon. What are they doing? The idea of a solid one piece knife forged from their 1055 isn't bad, but the design is terrible. I'm sure they don't have the specific tooling they need for cutlery, so they're using what they have. I suppose If a hammer wanted to become a knife, this design is pry what the hammer would come up with...
They should have just made the blade shape a generic clip point or real bowie like Buck or Ka-bar's, and then added a more Estwing type handle with the one-piece construction.
I do value function over form, but if I don't mention the appearance, people in the comments will not only mention it, but be a lot more harsh about it! :]
Oh you didn't know? We Texans (and our illustrious friends from Kentucky) can astrally project across time and space to look into JB's life and deeds. I'm told it's something in the amount of beef we eat.
So disappointed in Estwing. So much potential, but I think they dropped the ball with that knife and machete. It's like they tried to hard to be original.
Man,that is one ugly knife and one ugly machete...with that being said,I had no doubts it would hold up to heavy abuse..otherwise it just wouldn’t be an Estwing product..lol
I love Estwing products, I'm not really sure about their new machete and knife, the designs seem a bit weird, but I strongly recommend their Carpenter's Hatchet and all the other stuff they make.
No lifetime warranty I'm guessing
I want to see Estwing make a kitchen knife set with their blue Saf-T-Shape handles, sized appropriately for each knife.

To bad it didn't have a nice stacked leather handle like their hatchets.
Estwing is in my hometown! Thank you for this video and your love of Estwing products!
cryo phile Rockford
I could see someone using this as a backyard beater for prying, digging and cutting branches and what not. As a camp knife no but as a durable beater yeah.
Estwing makes some beautiful axes!
I would definitely carry it over a k-bar. the k-bar might have bin good at one time but doing some research on it cause I wanted one iv seen a few vids of the tang braking on the newer ones and being a military knife you should be able to do anything with it and not brake.
Come on Estwing, you make great hatchets, axes, and hammers, time to take you knife making to the same level.
This is the second review of this knife that says buy something else. Thanks for the review!
Yeah, it's just a weird design, Estwing Hatchets are awesome, this knife was just their attempt at a cash grab :]
this thing has a beauty unto its own. it is one piece of steel. the handle is clearly a compromise, how ever, the strength of one piece construction is an acceptable trade off.

thank you for video. i love most estwing tools, but i don't think i'm too crazy about this knife. thanks for showing it.
Thank you for a good review! I think it would make a great metal detecting digging knife!
Thanks for the review. That handle looks like it belongs on a jail shank lol
But as usual, You did a great job reviewing that Estwing Bowie EBK-6
Yeah they don't spend a lot of time on the edge. My Estwing 26" axe had a huge burr on it. It was pretty easy to make it sharp.
Maybe they Tempered a low carbon steel with a higher RC to hold the edge retention better so it might be more hard which makes it brittle ?
I love my little 3 pounds drill hammer you should add it to your estwing collection. ist as mutch punch you can put in a 10 inch hammer.
Crazy ass knife. I think I like it!
Estwing is great
Check the SILKY ONO AXE:
czcams.com/video/CVJSPDlrlYY/video.html
I think every knife you will buy will have a warning about not using it to Baton with(even my Becker knife).
Thats a cool looking knife.
i did not know that... thanks broski

Yeah definitely, there were many better ways they could have gone with this.
Nathan Gambino If they had used this shape of blade, same size as on their machete , stacked leather handle , and then called it a camping/outdoor knife?
is it made of 1055 steel ?
How much shock did you get while you were batoning? The 1 peice construction might not help
Plus I can hear you banging on the desk while talking about the knife XD
Not much shock, but that guard was no comfortable during the stab tests.
Ok. Well background noises will sometimes happen, so if that's like a huge thing for you you should know it's probably going to happen again at some point, despite my efforts at perfection.

Great video my friend. What do you use for sharpening if I may ask?
I use a Work Sharp for blades like this.
Nice. I just got a worksharp. Still in it's packaging. I like to look at new stuff for a few days. This will be a lean month now. Bought a worksharp ordered a camera. I guess no knives for me for a few weeks.
man that sweet bro
I like it

I like the blade shape but that handle is fugly
I think they based it on some kind of Klingon knife from Star Trek.
Qapla
It looks like a good durable knife, just needs a new sheath & forget about using it in the arctic!
You won back a subscriber. :)
Don't worry, I'm sure I shall somehow repulse you again in time.
I have returned.

dat handle doe
I think it's cool
thats rugged Knife bro good for Zombies weapon Pinoy Warrior bro ohhh yeah
Doesn't look to comfortable or versatile. Strange handle. Great review though. Thanks for sharing.
What the hell is that junk? Estwing should be shamed for even considering this, let alone charging money that garbage.
I love it
Should have just made it with their kabar style leather handle on their hatchet
I'll be. Now I know... thanks!
I wanna tanto!
don't worry about using gloves....wounds heal and chicks dig scars
Most knife makers state somewhere that it's not for batoning.
True, it was clearly written on my Becker that Battoning is considered abuse and will void the warranty.
bowie !!!!!! this needs kept in a draw with jessica x and never opened.if a knife cant cut a 2" stick then cut a rizzila skin then its trash lol horses for corses o
F. Y. I. Dick Pronnoeke (Alone in Alaska) used a Estwing Carpenters Hatchet.
He must have heard my recommendation. Kidding.
Haha. ,, .
Is this *cast*?! Or... forged? Maybe? That’s very odd in terms of conventional knife makers metallurgy. I wonder what their tempering process is like... time for some mfr vids I guess.
The gloves are a good idea .im 60 and i have a million scars .
I do not know they made knives nice
Lisakki Jarvenpaa from Finland made the knives sold under the Estwing brand decades ago.
Too weird looking for my taste but thanks for the review.

that handle needs to go back to the drawing board.
Let's make handles great again!
Ugh. Why couldnt they just use a stacked leather handle
smells like blisters.. one ugly knife but better have this than no knife at all..
klingon steak knife im sure of it lol
To pronounce it correctly I would have to rip out my own tongue.
Well that's disappointing.
Log murderer!!....lol
Guilty LOL
Omg its a survival tool. You people are pre Madonna's
I do value function over form, but if I don't mention the appearance, people in the comments will not only mention it, but be a lot more harsh about it! :]
just modify only the handle make it more sexy hehe
true that!
u men can u review the gerber prodigy knife coz i bought one it my favorite its budget knife
I have the tanto version of the Prodigy, I'm going to review it coming up.
ok bro ty Pinoy friend
BOOOOO-wee. Don't care how Estwing pronounces it. That's how Jim pronounced it. Estwing needs to go back to American History class.
- A Texas Boy
you were there? did you get to meet Mr. Bowie?
Oh you didn't know? We Texans (and our illustrious friends from Kentucky) can astrally project across time and space to look into JB's life and deeds.
I'm told it's something in the amount of beef we eat.
Aaron Hoff AAANND how that beef has been "cooked" .. BBQ!!!!!! aawwwwwwyeeaahh!!!
Weird. And looks too heavy.
Pretty much NO on most levels...Wierd design and very average steel for a knife.
So disappointed in Estwing. So much potential, but I think they dropped the ball with that knife and machete. It's like they tried to hard to be original.
Not the most appealing design. What an ugly handle! I wish that they made a knife to match their great and beautiful leather-handled camp hatchet.
Man,that is one ugly knife and one ugly machete...with that being said,I had no doubts it would hold up to heavy abuse..otherwise it just wouldn’t be an Estwing product..lol
First.
furst
Ugliest. Knife. Ever.
well it certainly ugly...lol
It's ugly as hell.
Meh...good review, ugly product.
