Showing the M48 Double Bladed Tomahawk, the modifications I have added to it, throwing it, and some random destruction. You want to wrap it in a couple layers of paracord for padding, just in case you miss your throw and smash the handle against anything.
The hawk is about 17 inches long, 5.5 inch edges, price $45-50.

I would suggest a couple dead stop bead bricks on the furthest out holes on the head. Run you about twenty dollars, but all that bounce just ends. Makes it a whole new item in terms of safety and use and they will bolt on through those holes closest to the beard. Cheers.
Makes me wish cold steel still made the little Bad Axe. Was such a great thrower, not good for much else though. Handle construction was sturdier though.

Thanks for giving me hours upon hours of videos and entertainment as well as gain some knowledge since subscribing! I have a random question about this battle axe. I bought it the other day and should be receiving it tomorrow. I love the M48 cyclone so I figured I would try this out. My question is about the axe's strength and durability. I was watching one particular video on CZcams (I don't want to say any names) and they threw it at what seemed like a regular pallet and damaged the edge. Another CZcams video (different user) was smashing cinder blocks and it seemed to hold up. Not that I really want to go out and smash up cinder blocks or even attempt to but is what's your take on that? Is this thing really that strong? I'm kinda skeptical tbh.
Machetes, hatchets, and tomahawks are usually not hardened as much as a good knife, and the steel on this is fairly cheap, so yes the edge could be rolled or chip if you chopped into a knot on some gnarly wood or other tough target.
How did it compare with some of the cold steel or CRKT tomahawks? I know it's made of a cheaper steel. Does the blade keep its sharpness?
In the beginning, how many feet between you and the stump you were throwing at?

Say Heah, I got a M-48 years ago when I bought a few knives from a friend going out of business, I got a Godfather Switchblade yeah the good one and a Fallkniven Njord, a Puma Eiche Wolf and a few other things all for $400.00, Yeah the Throwing Hawk is a M-48, but different to yours, although it has a bunch of points all over. I take it out on our bush craft trios to horse around with the guys, It's fun.
But one of my Fav's on person carry double bit hatchet is my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet, a belt knife a saw, canteen, and necessities pouch is the way I like to scout a new area out. But usually I tale a Haversack to carry the rest of my C's. It's supposed to be a copy of Nessmuk hatchet, When I first got it out of the box, I said "Where's the beef, It tiny, But not a toy, It only replaces a larger knife chopper, but it chops on one side and I can split with the other side, and it's made out of quality steel, it's a lightweight that punches like a heavyweight. I love it and traveling through the woods, Like I said, I luv a trio.

I have one question.... Whenever I'm using throwing knives or tomahawks I just chuck it really hard and it sometimes works, is there a specific way u throw things?
Austin hansen When it does hit, try to remember exactly how you threw it (like how you held it, and your motion in throwing it) and try to re-create that every time. Also, you don't necessarily have to throw it with a lot of muscle, try to go for a smooth motion.

Imagine the hand movement up the handle at 2:29, except an inch or two further up and the blade goes into your hand. Yeah that’s what I did with mine. Got stabbed :/
Not that it’s gonna stop me from using it. I’m just more careful now, and tend to keep the sheath on when I’m not actually using the blade.

I know this is an old video.. how did it hold up over time? I’m not sure about it, I’ve seen good and bad M48 stuff in the past
I still have mine, though I do not use it very often. But, it is just as strong as other FRN handle hawks, like the SOGs. And FRN handle hawk can break, but many people find them a good balance of cost and performance and thousands of people use them daily.

I have been throwing axes (full size forest axes) since I was young... and consistently working with axes and throwing them has made me the best there is.
If you want to be good at something... do it every day, and love doing it.
Take it from the best there is at throwing axes... practice constantly in your spare time.
