I'm glad BMW addressed the not so appealing visible silver exhaust on the rear. It's the one thing I hated about the M2 competition once it replaced the regular M2.
Dream car right here. Give it 2 years and it’ll be a great deal on the used market. I have a 135i which has been an adrenaline rush every time I get behind the wheel, even after a year of ownership. This improves upon it massively in every way, I can’t imagine not loving this car if I purchase one.

I have a feeling it was revved only in Sport instead of Sports+. If anyone complains about the noise, it's likely to be someone from Europe where they fit particulate filters that quieten the car!

This seems like the size of E46 M3 I had but mine had 6 speed manual. Went from that to Z4 M Coupe with same engine and six speed. Those cars were great and not too heavy like todays cars. Still have my Z4 M which is 2006! I will either be be buried in it or give it to my nephew who is car enthusiast as well. So glad BMW is still making such great performance cars! Thanks for giving us a taste Joe!!
i would love to have the S55 engine but I still love my N55 2017 M2 Saphire Grey w/ all black Performance grill and Alcantara Wheel w/ Race Display and a Stage 2 tuning which got me 440hp/650nm@1495kg . Its a beast 😉
Man that thing goes!! I really like the M2 as well. I love how you said the M stood for Magical that was awesome. I love how all the grilles and stuff are black. Also, the black tip exhaust was really nice as well. Haven’t seen that before.

Great review as usual Joe. The new generation 2 Series has just been launched here in Europe. Only available in front wheel drive or xdrive, no longer rear wheel drive so grab this generation M2 Competition while you can as it will be a future classic.
You're poorly informed MrBazz26. They just launched the 2 GranCoupe (sedan), which is based on the 1 Series FWD or AWD hatchback. Both are based on Mini. BMW will continue to build a RWD coupe of the 2 Series.
Drove em all. The M2C is THE best modern “M car”. It’s damn near perfect for a modern hardcore performance car. I tried to like the new Porsche 992 but it’s a GT now. The balance of the M2C is what this car is all about. It’s a rockstar.👍
Great job finally reviewing this! Just a few things: this isn't just turbo, but twin-turbo. Sounds like you revved it in Sport rather than the louder Sport+. The heated steering wheel button near the gear lever is the steering weight mode! And isn't that alcantara wheel an option? Last but not least, your driving and zonks were SPOT ON!

Thing about shutting off the vehicle in drive. When most people start their car they release the brake pedal to prepare before driving off. If you do in this will the car move forward? Cause if it will it's a serious hazard.
I don't know whether it's the ultimate performance car - probably not considering the super cars, and semi-super cars, out there with monstrous horsepower numbers. But, it may very well be the next BMW that I buy - with the 6-speed manual, of course.
Not a bad review, Rat. My suggestion is to pick a more dynamic color when reviewing...especially this vehicle. The black flattens the lines and doesn’t show well in the video. The saving grace I suppose was the contrasting rims

72k for me is just way to much for that car yeah it's bad ass but after warranty is out it's a gamble for that kinda money most of the stuff you get you can get on an STI for way less money yeah it has a lot of horsepower but that dose always translate to super fast and or make the experience way way better then a less powerful car For 73k I'm looking for a used GTR personally

Old M2 = N55 single turbo engine (against a real M engine on Competition, which is the twin-turbo S55); no M1 and M2 modes via steering wheel; no M seats (you can choose blue or red stitching); no big M upgraded brakes; no M mirrors. The old M2 was basically an upgraded M235i with a wider body and upgraded mechanicals. The M2 Competition is a full M car with mechanicals from the M3/M4). 0-60mph the new one is marginally faster too, but drive both, and the Competition will be the one with the bigger thrust. The interiors are almost identical; new one gets partially digital instruments and its brakes are the same size as the M4 GTS albeit in steel.
and the Display is crp for a Track Car. What is the status of the engine?? Is it warmed up ready to go? toggle toggle Oil Temp, wait wait Display. Oil pressure ? water temp? turbo psi ? Terrible Display for M2. lots of gas mileage info, average... crp for a track car. good info for tire pressure and temp on far side of central display. Numbers could be larger. toggle toggle toggle ...
I know it doesn't affect ANY part of the cars performance but I really feel like I've seen better engine covers than that from BMW. That one looks a little bland. Maybe it's just bcuz it's a black engine cover on a black car.

Robert Arutunian I owned a z4M roadster when I was a young 20 year old haha. Still my biggest regret selling that car. Was pure magic 👍🏼

Heated steering wheel button is on the side of the steering column, not by the gear selector
yeah that button he though was heated steering wheel is the button to change steering from light to stiff has 3 settings
