    what about a roving camera at a wedding? Do you have to go back to the booth to print?

    This was an eye opening podcast for me.
    For some reason, i was under the impression that the DS 620 was the only printer that could print out those larger sized prints.

    Having used dye sub printers, I am a fan of them. They make pretty decent prints regardless of the naysayers in the comments. I am starting up a new venture to provide Santa and Easter Bunny photos in an area that has not had locally done photos in who knows how long. That being said, I am definitely going the dye sub route as I know they are workhorses and the print quality is good. I'm starting out with refurbished printers, but if demand is good, I can always upgrade. Fortunately, I live in an area that LOVES to support locally. So will be looking at getting into sports photography etc. Santa and Easter Bunny will also be used as fundraiser for local Community Center and Volunteer Fire Department as I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to them.

    Hi Scott - Brilliant presentation. I have a DS40. How do I print 4X6 , and 5X7 on the same media , one printer without having to swop media ?

    • @JcOlivera
      @JcOlivera Před 4 lety

      You can load a 5x7 media, and create packages, you will be printing 5x7 at the right size and the 4x6 will be printed in the area of the 5x7 and youll have to cut the paper manually, or have two printers loaded with different media, or have a DS820A a 8x10 printer and you can print any size smaller than an 8x10.

      For Mac OS, your best option would be Adobe Lightroom 5.

    My two cents... Dye Sub Printers are made for speed and high volume printing, you can print up to 400 (8x10) in about 60 mins at aprox $0.71 cents per print (price of the media (paper/ink) divided it by the amounts of prints you can get per roll - ($284 for 400 prints), on the Pixma PRO 100, you get ONLY 70 (8x10s) in about 60 mins at a cost of $0.87 cents ($61 ink only) - with a dye sub printer your price per print stays the same because doesn't matter how many colors the image has, it will always be at the same price, on the Pixma PRO series if the image has more blue, you'll be using more of the predominant color and your cost per print will increase.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 5 lety

      It seems like you have all the hardware needed for your planned usage. The only thing you do not mention that I may recommend would be lighting, a background, and a background support stand to complete your setup. You may be able to work without these items, simply using the setup provided by the event, but the above would be the few additional items I would recommend for your usage needs.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 8 lety

      +mike whitt For use with a dedicated photo booth, Darkroom's Booth 2 software would be recommended instead. You can find out more information about Booth2 here: bit.ly/1SkRzwG
      As far as camera setting go, if your booth is well lit, then you should be able to leave the camera in an automatic mode. *Andrea

    The worst place for you to buy a printer. I bought a printer dnp ds 80 and the printer stopped working in an event and only use it 3 times in 2 months and 20 days and I only refer to the factory warranty and I buy it on March 8, 2017 and I I received the day 15 of March 2017 ...... they gave it to me late and in the guarantee they gave the back to me and I blame to amazon for giving back to me also, so that all they take care

    I think his intention is good but his presentation is very poor. The message is lost in his rambling and lack of basic public speaking skills. This long, boring, egocentric presentation could have been done more concisely in a fraction of the time used here. By the end of the video, I had no idea what message he was trying to convey.
