Could somebody tell me how many Russian airplanes Ukraine downed last December, January and February. Lost count myself.

It takes so long to become a pilot. Even in WWII, my dad had to train for 6 months stateside to become a USMC dive bomber pilot. These modern jets take a lot longer to train on them. I know a lot of people in the USA join the military to get trained on military planes so they can get a job with the commercial airlines after mustering out. I wonder how many of these pilots joined the military before the war just to learn how to fly, and now, holy crap, they might actually die. Keep going, Ukraine.
Yes from bein no pilot, to a commercial pilot, to a combar ready fighter pilot can take up to 10 - 15 years.
And russia also lost many trainers and experience. So it will only get worse

He's been doing it for over 40 years (CFI for the last 30 years), and he says that even if he wasn't an old guy now, he doesn't think he could have ever cut it as a military pilot.
@@clairenollet2389 yes indeed, apart from the training you also need very specific people. it is a very rare profession.
i heard russia trains them in basic stuff, took a Year off training, so basically they can take off, drop bombs and fly back. So when an f16 comes, or a missile, they stand Zero chance. Ukraine sent experienced pilots, and they trained Hard.
And a lot longer than the media says. They've been busy since october 2022. Or at least some.

A lot of the "Pics or it didn't happen" people don't realize the Russo-Ukraine War is the most documented war in human history. People think they are owed footage as if it is entertainment or a video game. It would require an entire division of the AFU just to edit and upload all the videos. In Bakhmut alone they would have over 5 Terabytes of video footage each night. No one in Ukraine owes some internet nerd video proof for every tank and plane destroyed. We have never had that type of documentation in any past war and no one denies they existed or were fought.

I agree with you. Editing footage is very time consuming. But I suspect that the footage is sent to someone that is not in the war zone, perhaps even to another country for editing. It doesn't make sense for the unit itself to take manpower away from the fight for editing videos.
You're missing the point. Later all the footage will be compiled and bodies and tanks and planes will be counted. Documentary filmmakers will have a goldmine of footage to pull from. The war and the human impact will be interpreted and defined just like in many other conflicts. But Ukraine doesn't owe anyone a tally of every casualty to justify their struggle against Russia. Ukraine's validity in this war is not dependant on the level of struggle, the sufficient amount of suffering, or a number Russians eliminated. Ukraine's struggle does not need to be justified with photographic proof to be valid. Russia invaded, no matter the numbers they deserve our support. Pics help talking points and fights disinformation campaigns from pro-Russian trolls. But we need to remember the 'Pics or it Didn't Happen' crowd are just trying to tear Ukraine down, to diminish their struggle and delegitimize their requests for help and ammo. @@Cry.For.Ukraine
The proof will be in the finished pudding. Also, there are OPSEC aspects, Ukraine may not show every single success to the whole wide world in the same way they don't blab about their failures to Russia. There's a lot of subterfuge in wars . . . by all sides.

As long as Ukraine is building numerous FPV drone launching / monitoring sites along the defense line, and keep the sites replenished, they don't need continuous lines.
They did the same with boats!
What we are seeing is the Patriot system being used as intended. To date it has been famous as a point defence system, in reality it has always been a long range SAM part of a large theater defence system.

The Ruzzian Air Force seems to have resorted to flying homesick anvils recently, given how rapidly their aircraft are falling out of the sky.
Opportunity for a decent cartoon artist to come up with a falling anvil based design to commemorate the record success rate that Ukraine is achieving in knocking the things out of the sky, perhaps?

There might be couple of planes that got away but they certainley shot down at least a couple where there was video comformation. Ukraine even retracted one kill even before it became clear that it wasn't shot down. Wich makes me think that at least most of the kills are indeed kills.

I have been saying the F-16's have to be active in Ukraine by now.
Reports like yours here, strengthens my belief the F-16's are in the air.
The water features along the new defense lines also run parallel to high ground ridges, to form kill zones! The gaps between the trenches may allow counter-attack corridors, flanked with mine fields!

Denys can be a bit unrealistic sometimes. He recently talked about the Baltics, ignoring that they have support from the Nordics.
Something that all of us need to remember that just because they or any othe army takes land, historically it does not mean victory.
It is my opinion that russia has 6 months at the most left as a military power, if their losses continue of manpower and even more that that equipment of all kinds and the hits on their oil and gas, production plants, airports, aeaports, etc... will cause them to have to stop and or implode.
