      French Prez during Minsk Agreement 2 was François Hollande. Would have you preferred him to deliver the 2 Mistral-class LHDs to ruzzia as well as other stuff Putin wanted like... Rafale-M for his aircraft carrier or the FÉLIN which puts the sight of your riffle or machinegun into your helmet and/or on your chest while there is a thermal camera/scope on the riffle...
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%89LIN
      Instead, France became Ukraine 1st arms supplier until the full invasion started....Sorry, you have to be realistic : had Ukraine entered a full scale conflict against ruzzia in 2014 or 2015, they wouldn't have stood a single chance!
      BTW, when Ukraine published a MoU for jet fighters in 2020 or 2021, only France was willing to sell combat aircraft to Ukraine...

    • @harounel-poussah6936
      @harounel-poussah6936 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Note that Poroshenko could have done something for the jet fighters as soon as 2014!
      In 2021, Ukraine had an inventory of 55 MiG-29, 14 Su-24, 20 Su-25 an d 31 Su-27... 120 combat aircraft
      So, what could have been done? Well... Russian jets are cheap to buy, but even more expensive to use than US ones...
      Now, f Safran made low coast airlines possible thanks to its M56, better known as CFM56 since it's built by the Safran/General Electric joint venture "CFM", Rafale's M88 is in the same vein when it comes to jet fighters engines... And , even if French air force bought Rafales with 50kN dry thrust and 75kN afterburner, from the start, Safran made clear they could deliver with 100kN dry thrust and 115kN afterburner... moreover, it's the only jet engine allowing 6 daily missions, and even 10-11 per 24h in intensive use for 2 months... Most of jets do 2-3 sorties a day...
      Then, this engine has only 70cm diameter and is rather light...
      It takes 6 months to validate a new engine on a twin engines jet fighter...
      Su-25 could have received two 50kN dry thrust M88, MiG-29 : 2x 100kN dry thrust (this is as much as the afterburner of the Mach3 MiG-25!!!), 2x 115kN for the Su-24 and the Su-27...
      Then, the money spared on costs of use for the whole fleet would have paid for the flyaway cost of 6 Rafale squadrons by... 2021...
      And the legacy Sukhoi+MiG jets could have been upgraded with the help of France an Israel which are doing such job for Indian one for many years...
      So, Ukraine would have ended with a fleet of 228 combat aircraft, but, in terms of air war, you don't think into numbers of aircraft, you think in terms of numbers of sorties, and then, you have a fleet able to generate as much sorties per 24h as if you owned 900 well maintained "vanilla" MiGs/Sukhois... Note that India arms its MiGs/Sukhois with Israeli+French air-to-air missiles since 2020...
      I dont really get why nobody thinks about doing this! Israel modified its Mirage-5s 'Nesher' into Kfir by adding canards and the GE J79 jet engine (used on the F-4 and F-104) and now IAI proposes these with the 98kN GE F414 used on the Super-Hornet and the Gripen-E, with the combat systems of their F-16I onboard, and they already added hardpoints on the Kfir that Mirage-5 never had... In fact, if the M88/100kN was mounted instead of the F414, with 20cm less diameter, and even 30cm less diameter than the J79, it'd allow to add an internal fuel tank of likely 1200-1500L.
      Had Poroshenko proceeded this way...

      Great article from the BBC. Surprised this wasn’t available in English, as it really needs to be circulated in western media.
      Sounds like the UAF are in safe hands regardless of rumours.
      Wouldn’t be surprised if Zaluzhnyi becomes President (with Zelenskyy’s blessing) in 12months. Zelenskyy is a great positive figure head for Ukraine, however he could be successfully targeted by ruSSians at any moment, or may simply become exhausted and want to step down. Zaluzhnyi’s forced departure could be succession planning, in case the worst was to happen.

    I've seen so many commentators repeating the 'Syrsky is an old style soviet officer' which I've been fighting against, as nobody could really point to evidence of that.
    This article exposes a very different picture, he comes across more as a western style officer, which should be no suprise as he was heading the NATO integration effort before the 2022 Russian invasion.
    Truth be told he doesn't come across much differently on a profession of arms level than Zaluzhny, he just comes across differently in his personal approach, and what he sees as immediate concerns (ie not just sitting in static defense and building up strength and resources).
    Ultimate he seems to be just as smart and educated.

    In the battle for Bakhmut the Ukrainians tied the Wagner forces down in one place, decimating their forces. But it also led to some destabilization in Russia. A lot of regular russians were cheering for the attempted assault on Moscow, revealing that Putin did not have the support of the people and his regime was actually in danger. It may be a few more years before we see the full impact of that battle. If western allies had provided the promised equipment and munitions, Ukraine likely would have held Bakhmut. Urge your Representative, Biden, and Hakeem Jeffries to REPLACE Speaker Mike Johnson with a sensible Republican.

      Sorry to say this but it has absolutely nothing to do with Biden nor any Dems. It’s all on GQP! NO ONE else.
      They haven’t done shite, since gotten into power. Only sham hearings and fake outrage. I.e. boarder, Ukraine, budget and so on. They are the party of chaos. NOT governing. And now they are taking a 2 week vacation. 😡
      They ALL need to be FIRED ASAP!!!

    • @artmcteagle
      @artmcteagle Před 3 měsíci +7

      Doesn't work that way. By custom and House rules, the speaker is the political and parliamentary leader of the House and is simultaneously its presiding officer, de facto leader of the body's majority party, and the institution's administrative head. So it's on the GOP to replace him.

    • @JilynnFurlet

    • @liviadix1433

      It’s not up to the democrats in Congresso. Unfortunately. The Republicans are in a very thin majority. I’m pretty sure that Democrats, will turn the table in November. But the time to help Ukraine, is now.

    Syrsky must have studied the tactics of Australian General Sir John Monash from WW1. Monash invented timed, set piece battles using combined arms. Slava Ukraini

    • @azzamat001
      @azzamat001 Před 3 měsíci +5

      Monash is, or at least was in my day, pretty heavily studied in military education circles.
      So it is highly likely that Syrsky has at least a passing familiarity, I'd argue if for no other reason than he is engaged in a war that has more than a few similarities.

    Great video Georgie, I learned alot about a man I did not know enough about, and should of delved more into his background because of the position he is now in. I feel more at ease with him at the helm now. I hope he is as good as the man who wrote the article says he is, because the men and women of Ukraine deserve to fight under someone whom they believe will bring them the victory. I'm only sad again about the fools that reside in Congress on the Republican side, the Maga fools to be more precise. Slava Ukraine...

    Thanks so much for the translation and reading.
    My father was in the service at senior command warfighting levels up until the early 70's so I can appreciate the nuances outlined in the article. In my discussions with him, after he retired, I learned that commanding theater-level combat operations isn't easy and often requires hard decisions that must send warfighters into harms way. That, unfortunately, is the way of war and the warfighters know it. It's the job of the commanders to make every possible effort to ensure that those warfighters have the equipment, training, supplies, combat support, and tactical awareness that will maximize their ability to be successful. But after the operation starts, the battlefield situation evolves as the enemy responds, often not the way you expected so the field commanders have to adapt as the initial plans crumble around the edges. In Western warfighting doctrine, this level of strategic guidance and tactical initiative flows down to area and tactical commanders who are trained to adapt, self-coordinate, and overcome. The philosophy extends down to the individual squads and ultimately the individual warfighter.
