Thanks for letting me join you in the trail hunter! Had a blast hanging out and testing out the truck 🙌
So much fun driving with you!! 😁🤘🏼
70,000 dollars. No, thank you.
Cool but not those prices 😄
It’s $70k BEFORE the dealership ads a 10% mark up.. at that point get a 1500 GMC AT4 with a 3 liter duramax diesel and call it a day.
$67k for a 2024 TRD PRO; is insane. There are full sized trucks and other cars you can buy with that money. In fact, it would make sense if you wanted a Tacoma to buy a 2024 TRD Off Road and invested the remaining balance.
I'd rather buy Tundra for that price.
Can’t get a full size TRD pro for that price. Apples vs Oranges.
For that price I'd rather buy a lightly used Tundra TRD Pro. Or get a Ranger Raptor for midsize.
No way I will pay that much for any truck.
(Unless I hit the LoTTo)
I guess she's tired of hearing people on her channel saying how the new 4 cylinder Tacoma sucks compared to the old reliable V6 motor.
Or people saying they are keeping their *2023* and earlier model Tacomas .
What was Toyota thinking ?
Going *_"Backwards"_* with less towing capacity ? 🤷🏼♀️ ❓️
@@BloodRain2224 stick with the used *Tundra TRD Pro* 👍
The Trailhunter is definitely cool, but it's just way too expensive and the intake would drive me nuts. I'd rather buy the Offroad with the stabilizer disconnect, upgrade the suspension, buy some nice Methods and save a ton of money. If you really want a premade off-road truck then you can get a Raptor or a Bison for a lot less money.
Yeah
As far as a raptor is that a ranger raptor or is that an f-150 Raptor? Sry not too familiar with fords. But I heard they run in the mid 50s
@@BigOsTaco Ranger Raptor. The F150 Raptor is a beast and in a different league, both in terms of performance and cost.
Gotta be frank I like the way the Tacoma and 4Runner look, but I think they need to re evaluate their pricing on the trail hunter and TRD pro. The MSRP isn’t taking into account the dealer mark ups and there’s other competition at the price points.
GREAT video Chloe!! very informative! and I love that you discuss the PROS and CONS and are not shy about that, because it must be tough, being invited to these things by Toyota and trying not to have bias.
That much money for a small Taco? I want the whole enchilada for $65k!
In 20 years, I'll be telling my grandkids. "I remember when tacomas used to only cost 65k"
Clever.
It's so funny how we think of them as small since they're the size of what the Tundra used to be before we started super-sizing trucks.
Nice video and cool that you got to drive the hybrids. Should be interesting to see how many people get the new Tacoma’s given the massive price hike. Hope you pick one up and be one of the lucky ones to afford them. I’m sure Toyota will give you a great deal.
$65k for a pro. Are you shitting me Chloe!
Who knew a Tacoma would cost more than a Tundra some day
Inflation bro. In 2019 a gas station was selling a single Krispy Kreme donut for 79 cents, now in 2024 that same donut same size same flavor is $2.79.
Exactly. Have you notice how much a house cost, look at rent, insurance, grocery……everything gone up 20%. Toyota is immune to inflation?
@@jml9550 yes 👍. Glad my house is paid off in full
@@appleztooranges Nice. Same here, paid mine off 1.5 years ago when I hit 50. Now home and rentals all paid off, no debt whatsoever. Loving it.
65k for a taco? i paid less for my 2023 lexus gx460. they have lost their mind.
what if you water crossing is the electric motor water proof and the batteries?
How hot does the turbo get? How often does the turbo need to be replaced?
Great video, love the Trail Hunter, but that track was very tame compared to what we drive here, it would be nice to see some more real challenges that a stock truck can perform
Like how you worked on your other Gen truck.
I live in Southwest Florida gonna be doing trips in Mexico, Alaska, Colorado which one would you recommend pro or the outlander or the one? That’s the other one they make?
Hey Chloe! I suspect you were waiting on the hybrid off road or the pro. I didn’t wait for the hybrid, but will definitely test drive one to see if I am really missing anything.
Note the battery is under the rear seat. A loss of under seating storage space which I use a lot on my 2019 TRD.
Note those under armor is more plastic like matériels..?
out of curiosity, will the 4th Gen TRD Pro seat be compatible for install in 3rd Gen Tacoma? The seat look pretty cool actually.
Is it true that the Toyota is pushing really hard on advertising these new Tacomas "using" these Toyota enthusiast CZcamsrs in particular? Was there any unwritten agreement with Toyota not to say too many bad things about it, or you will lose future invitation, etc.? Just wondering because almost all are saying only the nice things. Lol.
If this Hybrid Engine Option is made available on the TRD PRERUNNER (The Trim that's only available in a Supercab/XtraCab), it would be the best-selling trim for the 4th Gen Tacoma.
Alas, it's only available on the TRD Sport at Minimum, which makes this is a Hard Sell at the moment.
I would honestly consider trading up from a '23 SR5 V6 4x4 IF they make this engine available in the TRD Prerunner Trim...
A Two-Seater Taco with a Hybrid Engine, RWD, Storage Space in the Rear and Bed, with Off-Road Tires and Rear Locker?
It would be a worthwhile Trade-Up if the Price is Right.
Appreciate the Coverage Chloe!
That V6 is a major POS. Slow slug get away from toyota dude...
Do they have a rear swaybar? I looked at an off-road the other day and was very surprised to find it had one
Loved the video! … I’m still a Ford F-150 guy watching my favorite Taco channel. … Those price points do not justify that vehicle, then again, that’s true for all manufacturers. 🙃🍷
already put in the pre-order too?
How does Jeff’s lift work ?how much lift does his lift provide ?
Hows the acceleration compare to the 3rd gen?
Yeah; no way im paying 65k for these
These trucks are amazing, your content is always good. The prices on these vehicles are insane...seems we are heading towards the auto industry wanting 15-30 year mortgages on vehicles now. The only way "normal" people could afford these is with ridiculously long loans.
On an actual vehicle performance note, that raised air intake is totally on the wrong trim...I saw 0 dust kicked up while you drove the Trailhunter, but holy dust while you were in the TRD Pro...really can taken advantage of the intake on faster, desert trails.
Chloe, did you experience any transmission over heating?
What’s your opinion on both of them one versus the other if money wasn’t an issue which one would you purchase?
Your name tag is cracking me up! Great vid as always.
Great video Chloe. Some very cool tech on those new trucks.
Where is that trail at would like to take my 23 pro out there

Im a die-hard toyota fan
But i can't respect toyotas move on taking away the v6
So im going with the ridgeline trailsport
Which is not a truck frame based legit truck but a unibody car based vehicle with a truck shell. You would never see someone doing off-road in like this in a Ridgeline 👊

We will NOT see *YOU* , in a Ridgeline.

A lot of *#Tacoma** Fans* are not going to swallow anything Toyota tries to throw at them.
Thank you so much! I loved it when your hair almost ruched the steering wheel going down the 30+ hill. Great video🎉❤😊
what is the range of the battery?
Ford Ranger Raptor all day.... for the money over this.
I got got eh Ranger Tremor way way cheaper than this crap. I test drove an older taco with the V6 and it was a slow pos slug. I thought they were gonna do better but toy failed making her taco. LOL
would have so much driving around this trail park with my 2016 SR5 4runner too
Am I the only one who thinks the turbo noise burping out the raised air intake is obnoxious as hell? All these reviewers think it’s great; Do they also get aftermarket whoopee cushions for their passenger seats?
Depends upon the person, 😃
with the right personality, it can be very annoying. 😒
I think it is cool but i do think it may get old after awhile. Especially if you usually have a passenger like a girlfriend or wife. I know I've had people comment on the noise from my tires so i know this will drive most crazy
I guess over time, with a lot of people complaining, Toyota will do something about that noise.
My question is how will the reliability compare to the last generation's NA V6? I'm hoping my intuition is wrong and it will be built to last.
I guess with 33's 22 mpg is pretty decent. But for the extra $., I am thinking TRD offroad, add a lift kit and call it a day.
that's probably the sweet spot for many.
@@guentherwilke2055Most. How many jump their trucks to get the real benefit out of those expensive suspension seats?
I was building on their website today and I built a fully loaded TRD Offroad Premium and a Trailhunter fully loaded with everything I could possibly want. The difference was $5k. To me, that's not much, considering if I went and tried to get each individual part the Trailhunter has that the TRD Offroad Premium does not, it would cost well over $5k. I think people get caught up in the price of the truck but they don't realize it's not just the truck they're getting. There is a lot done aftermarket-wise straight from the factory that accounts for that money. High mount air intake (usually $500-700), 3 different steel skid plates (this can cost over $1k by itself), rock sliders (frequently cost about $1k), ARB steel bumpers (Usually a little over $1k), premium OME suspension (Usually over $1k) , premium Rigid lighting (Can also be about $1k if not more) , and I'm pretty sure the sport bar on the back of the trailhunter comes standard too so that could be anywhere from $300-700. Suddenly, that 5k difference doesn't seem so bad. The real question is why they let the TRD Offroad Premium get so expensive despite having none of the things I just mentioned. I could see being upset about the price of the trailhunter if it wasn't so close to what the TRD Offroad Premium goes for but the TRD Offroad Premium doesn't give nearly as much.
@@joshdudeguy2830 If you're going to build a truck with premium parts, the TH is an amazing starting point, and you couldn't get that sum of parts for the cost difference- and that's really the idea- turn-key rig.
Well, how does it stack up to avoiding buzzards at a road-kill?
I like both models as they have different applications but my pick would be the Trd pro.
Love both trucks but the monthly payments + APR%, hard to pallet that😮. The only advantage from the 3rd to 4th Gen that I’ve experienced is the upgrade of the 8-speed transmission and maybe a few bells and whistles of the overall truck platform but other than that, the 4 banger turbo’s mid to high range is nothing to brag about in my humble opinion. I’ll drive my 22 TRD PRO til the wheels literally fall off! 👍🏻😊
Best review I've so far, thanks Chloe!! My Taco dreams have better detail.
You mentioned 'truck' for your new vehicle, so I'm gonna say you're getting a Gen 4 Tacoma since the 4Runner is an SUV.
We still need to see how reliable is this new technology hybrid thing with turbo after many miles.
I want to see owners gas mileage a lot of times we see better MPGs then on paper my Corolla hybrid says 52 I’m getting 60 mpgs
Could the TRD Pro do everything the trailhunter did in this video?
Turbo combined with a battery and extra electric motor.. what could go wrong?
THEY ARE NOT MADE FOR THE AVERAGE WORKING MAN,,WE CAN'T AFFORD THEM,,,,,,,,,LOVE YOUR CHANNEL THOUGH
As much as I'd love to get one of these trucks I really have no use for any of it. My 2022 TRDOR has never been off the pavement. When or if I ever get a gen 4 Tacoma I think it'll be a non hybrid Sport but I don't think I can find $53k in my couch cushions.
QUESTION: Seems i-Force MAX only with short bed.? Per Toyota build site... bummer!!!
nice truck.............the price is unbelievable
I'd love to buy one, but at 63k + dealer add-ons, taxes, and interest it'd be over $1200/month to finance. Who can afford that?? (I'll tell you, only the top 8% of the US population if going off the 12.5% of income affordability)
If you read through the comments seventy-five percent of the viewers can afford it, that that comes on this channel.
No way I will pay that much for any truck.

Hi Chloe, how did you like the Trailhunter compared to the TRD Pro? Is there a noticeable difference between the two vehicles? You must have been pretty excited about getting to drive on the test track. Very cool.
I’ve decided to buy the 2024 Tacoma Pro, but I can’t see what colors that it has in it
Best Tacoma to buy? Which years? I'm a cheapo but I also see that you get what you pay for. Used high mileage Toyotas are also expensive, you can't win. Are there any years to avoid? $70,000 is a no go but I'd look at new.
they should put the 8 speed on the v6 to keep the cost down... in canada the trd pro and trailhnter sell for 91 and 98000$ ... sales will fall for sur add the 1st model year ...
For those prices you can get a Lexus SUV good trim for that. Live a GX
i bought my '04 trd v6 for 25K back then. still running at 250Kmiles. hello.
It’s beautiful and awesome, I was really hoping to get into the Taco Trailhunter, but the cost is just too much, will be going with the ZR2, Toyota missed the mark on that one sadly.
Even worse on the trd prerunner
This equals bad NEWS 👎🏻
The prices of vehicles are just INSANE lol
Very pricey and my big concern is the turbo. If you’re deciding to put on oversize, I’ve seen other video which causes the turbo to overwork on the freeway and you can smell it.
Those who wanted it, cannot afford it! 😂😂😂😂😂

Icosthop, you're a NOBO-D!!
This Tacoma TRD Pro is coming home. Only Big Bosses can afford it and should ONLY drive them!
I wish Toyota would make an Xtracab available with the iForce Max hybrid engine.
Tacoma sales down 60% since they changed over. Maybe they’ll start re-thinking things. If I wanted a hybrid I’d buy a Camry.
Chloe is selling me the seats. TFL was not showing their capability only that they negatively affected back seat room. If you buy this truck you really don’t care about the rear seat much less the leg room.
Great job showing more the performance aspects of the truck
As a current 2021 TRD Pro owner along with many of my friends who own one, we care about rear seat room and leg room. It's not about the fact that it's somewhat tight, it's the fact that it's so tight I can't even use the seats in a pinch to fit a child seat in the back or haul people that aren't sub 5 feet tall. It's a truck at the end of the day and I need it to perform truck duties not "look at my insane isodynamic seats" that my suspension isn't even good enough to exploit to the full potential. If I were to buy a truck solely for 100% offroading to actually utilize any type of specifically built seat I wouldn't be looking at a TRD, i'd be looking at a Raptor. Furthermore, a few reviewers already stated these seats seem to be meh compared to what Toyota has been advertising them as. So i'm not sure if your opinion is based on your ownership experience or just speculation.
I treat my 2018 Tacoma like a car.
I need rear leg room for my passengers.
The four wheel drive and the height from the ground are great in the winter. 🥶
Besides, this trim is not for me.
I do not go off roading. Dirt campground roads are as close as I get.
U are my favorite O F Toyota
Pretty amazing if you ask me
For that price range !? I pass 😂 stick to my 21 taco
👍
I have seen many the R1T's ....which are fully electric, incredibly fast & does off road for desert.
I’ve tried Rally mode in the sand in an R1T and it’s insane!! I have a video of it somewhere here on my channel. Although I just can’t get over the small bed size and range with what I currently do.
@@ChloeKuo I think the R1T is designed for off road sports / exploring & camping rather than carring drywall & lumber....however it would be still very usefel for electricians & plumbers.
I was going to buy one but cannot justify the price tag. Ill just buy a full size truck in a couple months. Probably go f150
Ranger Raptor is better and cheaper
Love the videos, Chloe, and as far as the vehicles themselves, they’re cool. I do have reservations re: the 4cyl turbo, but…most of us do. And most of us believe that if there are problems, Toyota will iron them out. HOWEVER…for a couple vehicles that will be made in the quality-deficient Mexico plants, these vehicles are disgustingly overpriced. I’m not using hyperbole, I don’t think…I mean it. It’s a disgusting, sad, pathetic, unwise slap on their customers faces. I’m not saying this because I’m bitter, that I want one but can’t afford it. I have $130k cash ready to purchase a vehicle, and I’ve just been waiting to see what Toyota was going to do with the tacos & the 4Runner. So I could buy two of whichever I’d like and not be hurting. It’s about PRINCIPLE. These prices are a joke. I’d GLADLY buy a Colorado ZR2 before even thinking seriously about one of these two top offerings from Toyota. I think your excitement over the truck is warranted. I get it. But I don’t think the excitement necessarily is an endorsement in the price. I’ll be purchasing a 2024 4Runner TRD Pro next month. It may be one of the last great Toyotas for a while.
Just wanted to add & clarify…you’re one one of my favorite CZcamsrs out there. Been watching since about the time you started, and love your enthusiasm, professionalism, excitement, and passion! You’re awesome! My disappointment in Toyota has nothing to do with you, it’s all 100% Toyota. I watch every video you put out because regardless of the mood I’m in before watching, I KNOW I’ll be stoked afterwards! You rock, and thanks for another killer video!
Wasn’t the trd pro 50k like less than a couple years ago? Now it’s 65k in another few years I bet they can’t wait to raise it to 80k
After tax and destination that's around 72k. No mark ups.

Not texting, but still *"Distracted Driving"* 😳
I was on team hybrid, but 22/24 mpg is hard to get excited about for a hybrid (the non hybrid Ranger Off Road gets 26 mpg for example)
I was hoping for slightly higher #s as well. Sounds like they designed it more for performance (it rips!!!) over efficiency… although I’d personally sacrifice a little bit of that power for higher MPGs. Just my 2c!
@@ChloeKuo I also watched the channel extra throttle house. The guy on that channel said he wasn’t impressed with the acceleration. And it would make sense because the truck is like 800(something like that, you can check the specs)pounds heavier than the non-hybrid ones. That offset makes the Performance gains minuscule. Not worth $ 3700 extra charge.
@@sammyjammy6647pretty sure there's a bigger picture to it you just gotta look deeper into buddy
Yep, same. My F-150 Powerboost has gobs of power and still rated 23/23 with 23 combined. However, it's one of the rare instances where I'm actually getting more than rated, I can easily get 24-27 in City, and 25 hwy, more with different conditions. But not having that battery underneath the seat is huge, and Toyota again put their battery under the seat of the Tacoma same as in the tundra, there's no storage room whatsoever in the cab. Not sure what they're smoking over there in r&d?
@@MrMikeDao nope. Other channels have corroborated this experience. Even TFL. Buddy.
Long live the 4.o and the 3.5! -once the hybrid and turbo hit over 300k, I'll vouch for them too, but I'll never defend that shitty price for a mid size with such limited suspension. That price should deliver a long travel vehicle.

I refused to believe with current technology we can’t create better emissions V8 with high performance!
Sure they *could* do it - but it would be very expensive for both R&D and production, not to mention the extra emissions controls like lots of catalytic converters, cylinder deactivation, etc. Everyone is already complaining that the new truck is too expensive... how many people would really pay for a V8 when the new engine already has plenty of power?
@@DeuceDeuceBravo Good points! If it NA V8 lasts over hundreds of miles with no complications, it's worth it to me.
