- Ever get bored with flying overpowered clubbers, and wonder what it'd be like to set yourself a 10-kill goal with a deliberately uptiered plane? War Thunder is not always about playing the objective, winning battles and grinding the research tree - you can have enormous amounts of fun taking on a challenge like this, and you'll never again worry about being screwed by the matchmaker!
In this video I take the humble Bathtub of Glory into Arcade in a 4.0 lineup, flying solo, in pursuit of 10 kills without being shot down. Do I achieve this improbable feat? You'll have to watch to find out :)
I know this is an old video, but if anyone's wondering - the 'sense of flight' option affects how much the camera shakes and moves in cockpit view whilst rolling, pitching and yawing, and also during buffeting at high speeds or when nearing a stall. It is intended to increase the player's immersion by giving them a sense of being affected by the momentum of the plane's movements, and is therefore only relevant for people who play Simulator Battles or otherwise use cockpit view extensively.
You deserve a BIG welcome back, Mr Longshot. Here's my small contribution toward it. Double thumbs up.
The "Sense of flight" option controls how much the pilot's "head" (the camera view) will bob around in cockpit view. Turning it up to max will feel like the pilot's neck is a Slinky, and turning it down to minimum basically locks his head in place more similar to flight sims like DCS and IL-2. I don't think it has any effect on the other view modes.

I've been playing War Thunder for about a week and your playlists have helped me shake off the rust, cobwebs, and smell of mothballs from the days of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. Using a Thrustmaster 16000M as opposed to mouse-aim I'm at a precision disadvantage, but the lessons I have learned from watching you fly keep me aloft. Good Hunting and hope to see more soon!

Hey man I've been playing for about a week now, I returned at a non progressed acc with the us tree and started with tanks (am now at tier 4. Long story short I've been flying 3 days and I went from rage filled deaths to 4 kills a match on avg on arcade and 2 realistic. Long long story short thank you much for your tutorials, I honestly didn't believe in tutorials until you so thanks alot man. P.s tier 2/3 flyer us tree/fighter main. Cheers and keep up the good work!!!

Welcome back long5shot. Funny cos i've re-discovered this little beast lately and been doing very well with stealth belts set at 300 convergence. Maybe people underestimate it.

WB sir! always learning from your videos! and i must add: it is not about RB, yes... Arcade is always FUN! Ah, let me suggest a video: how to shot down P-47 in Arcade flying tier 1 or 2. You know, it is easy when the P47 just turn and dogfight, but when it doesnt do it.... it is a nightmare :(
I think I actually did that in this video - czcams.com/video/vwHuthllmf4/video.html - though I didn't succeed in shooting him down (came close though). If the P-47 gets an altitude/speed advantage, always engages at high speed & doesn't make a mistake, your only hope is to dodge and hope to score hits when he extends away. If that doesn't work, your best option in Arcade is to run away to the nearest cloud of friendlies in order to lose him, then go seek other targets.
As a nearly exclusive p-47 player, long5hot is right. The only way you can beat a p-47 that is playing correctly is if he makes a mistake extending away or if you can get above him when he isn't looking. If another p-47 or similar aircraft is above me, I'll sideclimb until they go for their first boom and zoom on something else, then try to catch them when they are coming back up when they are lowest on energy.

I updated my settings.
@TheElite96 in the WT forum described the "sensation of flight" control to be effective only in first person view.
Set to 0, if you aerilon rotate the plane, your head will rotate with the plane. If you have it set to 100%, you will find that when the turn banks to the left, your head lags behind, as if centrifugal force pulled your head to the right until your neck muscles could pull your head back to the left.
I don't play much anymore as I know you don't but I always liked you vids and this one was no different thanks and welcome back.

Now, completely off base question to the vid: is there a way to turn off all the chatter that goes on to the left bottom of the screen? I asked in game and the juveniles had a ball with me. More concisely, I don't want to thank anyone, be thanked, be told 'attention to the map' and so on and so forth. Can you guide me...yet again.

I haven't played or even looked at the game in a long time and it looks quite different from how I remember it. They went a bit over board with the smoke trails on the projectiles, for my taste. Looks as if everybody were shooting science fiction ray guns at each other.
Is there even still stealth ammo in the game?
yeah I can't handle those smoke trails, though they're really handy to know when you're being shot at & exactly where the shooting's coming from. I switch to stealth halfway through the video as I can't aim with all that visual noise on the screen.

I haven't played WT for a year or so but still had a smile on my face when I saw your video.
Have the game made any progress regarding match lenght, game mode innovations etc. or is is still just new planes and stuff?
I think the economy's been adjusted, in that shooting down planes is actually more rewarding now than suicide-spacebarring tanks & bases. As I remarked in the video there's a lot more air combat going on now compared to what I remembered, and I think I'm yet to experience a short game. So no dramatic innovations, but things have certainly improved - either that or I'm imagining things.

Did you ever do a video on the Ki-100? I've looked in your uploaded vids and couldn't find one about it -- it seems like an excellent climber but I feel like focussing on climbing has actually been detrimental to my team -- with the J2M2 and the Ki-100 I always try to get control of high altitude and either don't know when to give up (because I'm by myself against a Bf109, one of the america Ps... or because every one is flying low and holding the high ground doesn't really matter if all that matters are the ground target kills.
Yep the Ki-100 is an excellent climber, energy fighter and high-speed interceptor. Its one weakness, in my experience, is a fragile & flammable damage model. Approach bombers with extreme caution, as a stray gunner bullet = dead engine. And no, unfortunately I haven't made a video on it yet ... so many planes, so little time.
The quandary of going high versus getting involved is a tough one. The last thing you need is an extended duel for altitude while the real battle rages underneath. Personally, I'm now taking the approach that if altitude isn't won, and won quickly, I'll call quits on it and dive below. Better to do that and rack up kills doing high-speed runs through the furball (while keeping an eye open on enemies above me) than to spend the entire game playing chess at 6000m.
The chess part is kinda part of the fun though, there are times where you spend that entire game fighting with that one fighter at high altitude and no one really interrupts. I suppose that the reason I find it so fun is the 1vs1 part, where it is entirely your choices and your input that decides the outcome of that one fight -- but in the end, it is just a fight, it's not winning the entire battle.
It's kinda jarring how having a sense of "self-preservation" or individuality actually makes you less useful than being a dutiful part of the mob and jumping on the furball train.
That approach of yours seems the best though, I've tried to follow it but I'm someone who hates not finishing what they started so I often chse people into not really ideal situations xd.

At the moment I have just one jet, the first MiG-9 in completely stock condition. A video would, I'm guessing, involve a lot of scavenging for scraps and brutal smack-downs from squads in thinly populated battles. Unless of course I move to RB with it - not sure what that would entail, though I expect it'd be equally brutal. I'll give it thought.

Yep just made a few crucial mistakes. Diving on the P-63 instead of letting him stall a 3rd time. And panic-turning when I saw the Spitfire at the end - I was actually faster than him & he was near the end of a WEP climb, I could have had an easy kill if I'd assessed the situation instead of just reacting.
