Really enjoyed watching this video thank you for sharing! Lifespan was already on my TBR but I also got inspired to read your other recommendations as well now. All these books sound super interesting.
I just love to hear it Melisa
I came across many youtubers recommending almost the same books in the non-fiction side of things but none of them genuinely caught my interest. But you explain it really well and I’m gonna read your suggestions. Thanks for that and subscribed!
Thank you Madhav, I like to get a little weird with them. Glad you found something you liked!
A channel I was looking for ...I was looking for recommendations specifically like this ...thanks
This is gold! Thank you so much for this list
Thank you! It was a pleasure to make!
Great picks and interesting insights! 📚
Glad you enjoyed!
This is awesome! Have you read "Wildflower, a tale of transcendence?" I love that book!
This is a fantastic list. Really enjoying your channel!
Thank you Chad!
Subscribed to your channel and added three of your recommendations to my to-read list in 2021. I can see that you got a potential to be a great youtuber in this realm. Looking forward to more of your videos.
I truly appreciate that! I never really expected to even have more than 500 subs tbh 😅
such a great video!! keep it up :)
Thank you! Will do!
Im new to your channel i like your book recommendations and the way u explored them
Thank you Andrew!
Hey friends, to support the channel within YT's algorithm be sure to thumbs up and sub if you liked this ( :
This was great as someone who wants to branch more into non fiction from just true crime definitely have to get to some of these
Im glad you found it then Ronnie! The video I published yesterday is also a good starting point for NF
Lifespan is on my tbr from your recommendation and awesome to hear your thoughts on it here. Sounds right up my alley. Also, why Buddhism is true. I have been a Buddhist most of my life and meditation is essential for higher evolution of man. You may dig my Buddhism for a Western Perspective playlist
I have been loving your Buddhism series. Being so new to learning about Sutras and whatnot I have only a 10% comprehension but I am trying to actively learn more from you. Keep it up brother!
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying Nice! The latest one- Lankavatara Sutra is a very difficult text but, the next one will be on the Dhammapada- perhaps the most accessible text in all of Buddhism
Surprisingly the latest one on Lankavatara Sutra was one I felt I understood more than others. Maybe it's because I have been reading about panpsychism and universal consciousness but the idea of the god brain connected pretty well with those ideas, atleast for me
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying Nice! After I texted that I thought "but, maybe this is actually more his style..." You never know what someone is going to resonate with 😝
I really enjoyed Hacking Darwin. You should check The Singularity Is Near by Ray Kurzweil if you are interested in more books that talk about the potential for anti-aging both through genetic engineering and nanotechnology and eventually robotics and AI. It is definitely tech optimistic, but worth reading for sure.
Solid rec, I have that sitting on my shelf at the moment and need to get to it soon. Most futurist I read from like David Wood and the London Futurist seem to reference him quite often and I am sad to say I haven't read a single work of his yet.
Please read/ review How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan!! I def lean more into science non fiction and it’s probably the most interesting book I’ve read in the past few years!
Yesssss, I want to do a "On Psychedelics" or "On Drugs" series. I find that topic absolutely fascinating. I actually had How to Change Your Mind but I had loaned it out. I need to get it back
Love your channel! We have the same taste lol :) subscribed!
Glad to have more like minded folk around!
Live forever or die trying? You're literally the exact channel I've been looking for and I found you on a random book search, neat!
Glad to hear it Derek, Which book were you originally looking for?
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying I was looking for nonfiction particular focused on what I want to study after I finish my undergrad which is either gerontology/genetics. Even if I don't go to grad school, I'd like to read up on it. I'm also very into self-help and personal finance books.
Oh fantastic, I think this will be a good match. In my Sept or Oct wrap up I will cover David Woods "The Abolition of Aging" which was fantastic despite the lame cover. Nov is a little slow on the gerontology front but I have a lot more for the rest of the year and start of 2021. Glad to have you here Derek!
Hacking Darwin has been in my TBR. Now I want to get it and reward it ASAP
It's certainly worth it!
hey can you recommend books like lifespan pls,
I am looking forward more to read these kinds of books after reading lifespan
When I film my September and October wrap ups there will be a few more books on Anti-Aging. I have quite a bit more on my TBR coming up in the near future as well so stick around and you should get your fix
Saw the name...wow, can't believe I stumbled upon this channel looking for book reviews. Being a transhumanist polymath this is exactly the kind of content I'm interested in. Good reviews by the way! Wish I could keep my black shirts so clean like in this video. Maybe its because I have pets.
Glad to have another like mined soul around Richard!
You can try some robin Sharma books
What non fiction book do you think is a great starting point for a beginner like me?
Honestly any of these. To narrow it down check the links and read the descriptions and see which is most interesting to you
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind - There will even be a "graphic version" of this book, releasing in a few days, it´s called "Sapiens: A Graphic History"
If you'd work on your voice register , then you'll get more subscribers , content is good
That's my weakest link for sure. Have you given any of my newer videos a listen to see if it is better?
Finely found a booktube that’s crazy about genetics just like me.
I read plenty for sure! I have a few on my TBR about CRISPR and other editing techniques too.
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying same been studying crispr for week or two now. Thanks for the reply ❤️
Can't we get to read full books in application goodreads?
I'm afraid it's more of a tracking app than one that hosts books. But you can find the next book you want to read and it links you to multiple places to buy it, unfortunately all from Amazon though.
Triumphal Reads sent me
Glad to have you Carlos, Justin runs a great channel as well!
Seems like you hang closer to the science part of nonfiction. I read more on the history side. I saw Sapiens being recommended a lot and supported as a good book in reviews and my reaction has always been...eeeeh, this could be the science version of Eat Pray Love. Overhyped and only liked by people who don't normally read nonfiction in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong. Didn't realize it was a series.
Great video. Little suggestion, time stamps would be very helpful.
@@Positivevibes-tq5mg I'm not the one who made it. I do make videos though. 😁
@postive vibes - Noted!
@american book dragon You would be correct that is currently the case. However, I have a lot of History, Memoir and Bio on my TBR that I would love to get around to as well. We shall see if we can get there soon.
Sapiens was initially a mixed bag for me. In one of my very first videos I did not review it over the top favorable. However, as I read more anthropology and sociology more and more of it started ringing true and resonating. Specifically I think it is a great recommendation for a new comer to the genre bc it covers so much ground initially and can hold their interest. But yea I agree that if you are a long time NF reader, especially in this field, then you might not get as much value.
@@americanbookdragon sorry, I didn't realised I was replying to your message. I shall check out your videos
FYI - Buddhism is not a religion.
Are we talking about core Buddhism as the philosophy? I would say many religions formed from Buddhism, and correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Tibetan Buddhism have deities and more "traditional" religious characteristics?
