It's a year later and this video has been my most popular so far. I appreciate all of your support and the new subscribers. If you are new here is there any specific content you would like to see more of? If there is any topics within non-fiction that you would like me to cover let me know!
I have noticed that the majority of viewers are not subscribed and I wanted to take the opportunity to get some /market research/ if you would. Is this a type of video you would like to see more of? If so is it because of the selection of books or more about the self improvement aspect? I look forward to hearing your thoughts and seeing more of you in the future!
I kind of came here because I was looking for some non-fiction book content, there isn’t that much of it on booktube. I am planning on reading more non-fiction in the future and was interested to see what other people think is worth checking out/their opinion on the books they ended up reading. :)
I didn’t come here for the self-improvement aspect, I already read quite a lot and am happy with the amount of time I spend reading/amount of books I read
"A man who does not read is no different from a man who cannot read."
Came here from reddit, and I quite enjoyed this video. Keep it up and you'll make it to 52 books
I appreciate it! I have been fortunate to have finished two more books since making this so I am back on track with my goal now 😊
Great video, thanks for sharing your insights on these books. I plan to add a few of them to my own list.
I am happy to hear you got a little value out of it!
Yay you posted a video after 6 months! I've been looking forward to this 😁
This is my first real foray into videos and I am loving everything associated with it so far. The sense of community and enthusiasm I have received have phenomenal and I look forward to making more videos on a more consistent basis because of it. I really appreciate your support!
Love that you’re doing this! I read zero books last year and also set a New Years revolution to read one book a month. But then I changed that to one book a week. Now I read about 10 books a month. Just subscribed and look forward to following your progress!
That's incredible! I appreciate you joining me on this journey!
Man your recommendations are amazing..!!.
Fantastic collection this one as well.
Please keep posting such videos ❤❤❤
Thank you! Will do!
Man! Finally someone making good reviews about non-fiction books! Hope you continue in the long term!
That's the plan!
Thank you for the nice video! I was looking for some good nonfiction books and will definitely read quite a few of your recommended.
Glad it was helpful!
Well done, David. I really liked the diversity of your books. I added some of those to my shopping cart. I'll check out your other vids! Keep up the great work.
Appreciate it Jesse!
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying Same here buddy, greetings from Italy!
I’ve added so many of these to my TBR list! Brilliant vid. I love Yuval Noah Harari’s work and Bryson’s too. Phenomenal stuff
I'm glad to hear it was helpful, thank you!
Yay! Been waiting for this! I recommend picking up books by Steven Pinker, maybe Enlightenment Now. Also, amoral books like the works of Robert Greene. Good job on your reading goals!
Enlightenment Now is looking extremely appealing. Thanks Cary!
This was really entertaining to watch. I think this is a good New Year's resolution for my 2020. I would love to see a follow up video at the end of the year (even if you didn't make it to 52 books, that's okay haha).
There will be and end of year wrap up ( :
Great video, keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Good video, but it would be better if the books were a little closer to the screen.
Great name for your channel. Nonfiction is my fave. Love your enthusiasm and the selection. Subscribing.

Thanks for sharing! Liked the reviews on the non fiction book read so far. Very helpfull and a good guide to pick some good books in the vast bookworld that s out there. How do you decide to read a book?
keep up the reading and foremost ... keep posting!
The reading will be kept up I promise!
Regarding how I find books. I subscribe to various forums, individuals, and podcasts that encompass my interests. When someone in those communities recommends a book i add it too a running tbr that I buy from sporadically. I also take recommendations from CZcams.
Great recommendations.
Thanks for the video.
Watching from Nairobi
That's a long ways away, thankful to have you here!
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying You are most welcome. I noticed av read some of the books you recommended and liked them. I'll be checking your recommendations. Keep on uploading
I needed ideas for nonfiction. I liked this video. I just ordered Botany of Desire. Let's hope you're right.
Let's hope! I look forward to hearing your opinion on it!
Great video!
Thank you!
10:53 had the same struggle
What I did is going to bed as always but waking up (with the help of an alarm) at 6am
Did this for about a week and then I was able to go to bed way earlier then before because the lack of sleep in that week made me tired earlier in the evening
Since then I'm always going to bed at 9pm and wake up at about 6am (without an alarm)
Works wonderful
Funnily enough that's similar to my current schedule because of work. But even with 8 hours of sleep I still dread waking up then lol
since I love yuval and you used him as the thumbnail, you got a new subscriber. hope you will get big on yt soon
Happy to have you here Daniel. 21 Lessons is one I'm trying to get to soon after Homo Dues. Hopefully I'll have more Yuval for you soon!
loved the picks! I highly recommend Weapons of Math destruction to you.
That looks like a great read. Going on the tbr now
Good for you! I see you stick to non fiction and pretty deep stuff. Wow, I would be crashing in my habit, too. My form of non fiction is biography and history so probably sleeper stuff for you. But like you I prefer to read several books on the same topic just so I can avoid seeing information from only one point of view. I think you should accept the speed at which you read. After all firstly non fiction can be very deep and a slower read and secondly, reading must be fun or you will miss the point. Currently reading Educated and have added Sapiens and Homo Deus to my TBR, thanks. Does order to be read play a role in these two?
I'm looking at a strong finish to the year thankfully. History and biographies are on my list for 2020 but I admit they don't draw me in as much as science and tech. What I have found is that the more textbook style of writing puts me to sleep if I am physically reading it in print, however, I can power through these no problem on audio. This realization has helped me feel more confident in my speed.
Sapiens and Homo Dues are both solid reads with Sapiens being my favorite. The books can stand alone but I believe if you read Deus with Sapiens as the backdrop you will have a richer experience.
Happy reading ( :
Ya
Reality is Not What it Seems by Carlo Rovelli is pretty good. It changed my outlook about things like what space actually is, and whether we can divide things infinitely. It presents a theory that is more correct (as confirmed by experiments so far) than string theory. The language is pretty flowery, but the entire read is worth it for the knowledge gained in chapters 3/4 of the way through the book (the rest is sort of priming you to understand that material).
Sounds super interesting. Ill throw it on the TBR!
Hey guys I need nonfiction book that is published in the last five years ...
Please if you read this comment answer me .
good going bro
Appreciate it man
great and interesting video! always looking for interesting new non-fiction. if you are interested in books about death "culture", like "the craft of dying", I highly recomend " Smoke Gets in Your Eyes : And Other Lessons from the Crematorium" by Caitlin Doughty!
Thank you Pingo! I will add that to the TBR for sure
If you like the Gene then you should read emperor of all maladies. I have been debating reading homo Deus.
That's on the tbr for sure. I would recommend Homo Dues if your like Yuval's writing style and personality otherwise you wouldn't miss out on too much. It was a good read but was not a favorite.
The cat convinced me to click on your video
I have to read a nonfiction book for my book report and I havent even read one page yet and it's due in December
Sounds very similar to my school experience. I dreaded reading for assignments. Now that I am out however it's become a passion.
You should read being mortal I think you’d like it
I actually read that early this year, will include it in a video soon. Thank you!
I tried doing this, managed it for two months, but then grabbed The Stormlight Archive and Infinite Jest, and it did not worked out 😂 took me almost 20 days to finish The Way of Kings.
Yea.... I can see that happening
Dude honestly I don't know how I did it but I managed to read stormlight archive in 1 month. Love when kaladin is on his period and long live bridge 4!!!
You should read Intelligent Man's Guide to Science by Issac Asimov and other Non Fiction books by him.
And yeah keep up the good work 😊
I'll check it out!
I just read Foundation and will start the next one as soon as I finish another book I'm on and I can't wait.
Oooh Phantoms in the Brain! Read all of Ramachandran's stuff. He's my favorite author!
I need to get more of his work, so enthralling!
If you liked this one you'll really like "The Tell-Tale Brain." His other books are mostly repetition of things he discusses in "Phantoms In The Brain," and "The Tell-Tale Brain." For best results, read it in his amazing indian accent!
Here to see that kitty lol + great channel btw
Thank you!
initially i liked the first half of Man's search for meaning, but after reading that he lied about certain things, it kinda ruined it for me.
Oof, off hand do you remember what parts were fabricated?
@@LiveForeverorDieTrying okay after reading up on it again he didn't quite lie but some of the content is misleading. He only spent a couple days in Auschwitz and he was then moved to Kaufering III a sub camp of Dachau for 5 months and then Theresienstadt (a hybrid between a concentration camp and ghetto) where he was for 2 years. In the book he makes it seem like he spent the majority of the time in Auschwitz. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been 3-4 years since I've read the book. I think he twisted the story a bit to make the book sell better and make it more interesting to read
Here's the article I read: www.google.com/amp/s/www.tabletmag.com/amp/sections/arts-letters/articles/viktor-frankl
Finally a guy that likes cats and likes books ❤️
Nice video but I just clicked on this video to tell y that I think yr handsome 💁🏻♂️ and I love the plants 🌱
omg you are so cute!! 💗 Have you ever considered reading books about AI? I know Elon Musk recommended Life 3.0 being a human being human in the age of artificial intelligence by Max Tegmark
Do not loan the books you value.
The way I look at it is that books are replaceable, I can always get additional copies if needed. If I loan a book I don't sweat if I don't get it back. If I think a book is going to make an impact on someone I would gladly consider it "gone" to give someone close to me the opportunity to be moved by it, or just the chance to.
Homo deus- One over rated book.
