To be honest, I'm surprised it was only 120.
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, it is illegal to void a warrenty SIMPLY for opening a console, meening that if your console gets a red ring of death during its warrenty period, you can still send it back to them under warrenty and I belive it is illegal for them to deny the warrenty simply because you broke their little seal.

Jacob, if you're planning on doing more DKOldies orders then make sure to have a relative or friend order it for you. If you order to the same address they'll start "wising up" and send you their best looking / refurbished consoles in order to avoid further backlash.
Expose them for the terrible, mediocre and shady company they really are.

You would have to find a legal definition of "refurbished" in relation to items like this. Cleaning the outside case, testing it works, putting in a new power brick, a controller, a game might well be considered refurbishment. It's a broad term. Exactly how far do you have to go to "refurbish" one? Take the DVD drive apart and clean inside? Replace all the old capacitors? Replace thermal paste?
@@another3997 I'm referring to them cleaning not only the outside but the inside as well. Also them replacing anything that can go bad in a couple of years.
I'm pretty mindblown at the comments talking about how he's supporting them more than he should lmao. He's 100% making more money through ads than he is spending, and 100% even if only a few people decide to not spend money with DKoldies after these videos, it will level out or more.
Exactly, and just calling them out once wouldn't do anything. If they have any sense as a company they will vastly improve, meaning everyday customers that come across them won't be getting scammed (well, maybe still a little overcharged - but they will get what was advertised lol)
Iâm glad someone understands đ
This comment section is full of dkoldies bot accounts and soyboy fans
Of course they cleaned it.
You called them out heavily, enough for them to contact you. Then all of a sudden a month down the line they see you've put in a second order. Of course they're going to "try their best" to prevent bad press a second time. Which is telling because their best isn't even up to most locally owned refurbishing standards.
I 100% guarantee that if you placed the same order with a different name and address and opened it up a different story would be told.
I wouldn't call what they sent him trying to prevent bad press. They are literally false advertising this console as refurbished when it clearly has not been refurbished.
@@afuturehobo kid get out! I already told you that you ain't wanted
They still didnât even do thermal paste though, so I doubt they made sure to clean the insides. My guess it Jacob got lucky and got a clean model
If they knew this was me, do you really think they would've sent me a 3rd party controller, a non-HDMI console, and a 3rd party power supply?
I think it was pretty well established from the PS3 you bought a month ago (and all the other channels that have covered this) that DKOldies really doesn't put much (or any) effort in refurbishing their consoles despite charging egregious prices.... so why the hell would you honestly buy four more consoles from them? Sure the bad press may be hurting them...but you're still giving them money in the end aren't you? :/ If my system showed up in that state I would've written them off after the first time and never look back.
The goal is for them to improve so that customers buying from them get what they deserve, just buying one and letting it go wouldn't do that. Large youtubers making multiple videos will cause DKOldies to either A) Improve and regain consumer confidence (let's hope) B) Lose a lot of business, with consumers that buy from them still getting awful products.

It's for the content obv
I see it as him taking the bullet for others. He buys one, shows what you get on CZcams, multiple others now know DKO is not worth giving business to.
Content, but also they deserve to get dragged through the mud. If they refuse to change their practices, make it so DKOldies pops up on CZcams with these videos.
Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and the more people ask "is DKOldies a scam" just like they do with Ebay, the more the masses will start to push back too.
I just bought an Xbox 360 Slim, 250GB. Itâs immaculate. It was only $60 on eBay. Came with HDMI cable and power supply with a genuine first party controller. Never buy a 360 from DKoldies. But I understand you bought it for a video purpose.
To be honest, I think it is lucky for most of us because, I keep seeing stuff on dkoldies, and quite frankly, I am not spending that much money on any of the stuff they sell on there. When I can get it for like 10 times cheaper elsewhere.
But now, especially knowing that they false advertise their products, it is double true to not pay dkoldies a dime for their products. Like why buy a used PS3 that comes in looking the way this dudes PS3 looked in the other video. The description stated on the dkoldies website stated it was cleaned. Like I have never seen a console period that has looked that shitty. In my life. And if you are paying 400 dollars plus, there is absolutely no excuse. None at all.
Hey Jacob, now that they know your number/address/name, I suggest changing this info around for orders going forward if you plan to continue these (which I hope you do). My guess is their next move will be identifying and flagging orders from content creators, and making sure those orders are immaculate to try and save face while neglecting "normal" orders.
Gotta be honest that was the most natural sponsor integration I have ever seen on CZcams, nice job Jacob!
Send a message to DKOldies next time asking it to be filmed :)
Lol
Damm,no HDMI port? This must have been sent from Fred Flintstone from the Jurassic era...
It is worth noting that prior to Jasper, the Falcon and Opus units weren't too prone to the RROD. With fresh thermal paste, a good cleaning and good airflow they should be able to run for many years to come, albeit not quite as reliably as a Jasper.
I used to do repairs and custom paint jobs for 360âs in high school and those x-clamps were always BRUTAL to remove. Thereâs a reason I stopped! True pain!
Love the DKoldies videosđ
It's mind boggling that they charge $120 for an early version 360. I'm sure they go for half that on ebay.
With these earlier revisions Xbox besides the GPU Chip going bad, the caps are also known to go bad in these early 360âs. And it is recommended to replace those early model heatsinks. They underperform, get a hold of some later model heatsinks that will do a better job with cooling along with some new thermal paste. Installing some little heatsinks on the ram chips can help too with preserving these early revisions of the 360. I highly recommend to avoid the screw in method or any of those early nonsense fixes. I took the screws out of my refurbed 360 and put the XClamps back in.
Tbh I think anyone who is trying to prolong a xenon, rather than just upgrading to a jasper or slim, is doing it wrong
@@jrob0021 Xenons are becoming rare and collectable compared to Jaspers and Slims. Itâs very easy to get a hold of a Jasper. And it is easier to get a hold of a Slim/E. With the Xenon it can be downgraded to the earliest Blades Dash. Where as with the Jasper, the Blades dash was gone by the time they were released. I have a 2005 Xenon which i plan on JTagging.
I dare you to send them something broken. They legit have a trade-in service where you can send them in your stuff (and eventually overprice it)
Good idea he should đ€Ł they would probably take it for free and sell it
There's been a bunch of re-released XBOX games that were 360 compatible and got 360 style cases. Came pretty late in the 360's life cycle and wasn't really notable.
I worked at DKoldies for a short period. basically the mentality here was we get paid nothing so in return are pretty relaxed with our effort in refurbishing, normally the new employees are the most diligent but after about a week they end up like the rest. normally we just gave it a quick wipe down and that was it... plus if we ever damaged a console accidentally while doing a proper refurbishment it would be deducted from our pay so we would avoid taking the console apart in depth. minimum pay = minimum effort.
I have an og xbox and miraculously have never gotten the ring of death. She still plays fine. Absolutely sounds like a jet fighter taking off when I turn it on but she doesn't have problems working and playing games. It has no storage space on it. I'd have to buy that hard drive piece addition. I've always wondered what they were thinking when the sold these with zero storage. I use a USB stick for it's storage lol. Wish it was that easy and cheap to get more storage for modern consoles. I did have to replace its original power block and I have absolutely no idea if the controller is original. I simply can't remember. I've never opened her so I'm sure she's dusty after all these years but I also have zero knowledge about any kind of electronics and I don't want to mess anything up with it. I was super lucky that she never got the red ring of death and the fact she still works fine.

How are they even allowed to send this stuff out the door with no refurbishment whatsoever?
Probably because the term "refurbished" has no legal merit. It means as much as the vendor wants it to mean.
2:41 Thank you for this, now I know mine has the Falcon board and despite saying it has red ring issues, the only red rings this one has had are overheating ones before I moved it to a more open area, and weirdly if there's weight on top of it right around the power plug area, you can get it to red ring basically on command, I found that out before I got a monitor stand for my dual monitors and was using it to match the height of my other monitor, none of these were fatal though thankfully
By this point, DKOldies gets an order from Jacob and Joey immediately chubs up.
Man this brings back memories! I remember having to do the towel trick to get the solder to reflow and make the console work again. I remember having to take it apart and do the penny trick under the X clamps. Crazy that they didnât even bother opening up a jasper
When you send orders back, you should print out the definition of 'Refurbished' and slip it in the box.
"A refurbished item is a pre-owned product that's been evaluated, cleaned, repaired, upgraded (in some cases), and then resold. For computers and mobile devices, these products also have their data wiped and drives restored to the factory settings."
I donât really know what on earth is going on inside DKOldies heads and what their thinking of money is but as it seems it looks like they really try to drag as much money out of your pockets...I donât want to blame anybody for something I donât know if thatâs their plan BUT I already saw multiple unboxings of people having a very bad experience and for 120$ (which is a lot of money for people who do not make like I donât know thousands every month) I hopefully can expect to have EVERYTHING OEM... I remember I got my 360 back in 2012 I think on a flew market over here in Germany for 120⏠in itâs original box with the headset, OEM controllers, power supply and even got 5 games for free with it without cosmetic flaws or anything. Also the fact that they sell games for way more than they originally cost. Yes I know some games are rare and have a value for collectors but actually if they were based in Germany and did something like this over here. They would tap in a VERY shady zone and possibly could get sued for that since it is something we call "wucherâ (a translator tells me itâs called "usuryâ in English but I donât know that since I donât know these law term name things in English so sorry if I said it wrong)
Also please allow me to share my story with them not as a buyer but as an interested customer who was interested in their products. A few months ago I gave them a call and wanted to get some information about the sega dreamcast. A woman answered my call and she was very polite and nice towards me on the phone. But when I asked why I donât get an OEM controller along with a 250$ console she went silent for a second and I could hear her some sort of I donât know like...giggling or something...? You know like when you wanna laugh but try to fight it and you just make some weird distorted sound with your closed mouth? That was the point where I said "No! I am done thank you!â so I ended up of not buying anything...
Edit: I forgot to mention that the womanâs respond after that "giggleâ was a pretty weird one she literally said something like "Oh well I donât know maybe itâs because when you have that stuff already so you donât have it twice...?â That respond doesnât seem to be logical towards me in anyway but correct me if I am wrong.
I would happily pay DK oldies prices if they fixed the problems you find. They need some sort of process that keeps everything uniformly cleaned and tested. Their stuff is all over the place. I'm assuming this is because they have multiple employees and none of them care about anything but getting the job done. None of them follow any processes. They all just slap whatever is convenient in a box and send it on its way.
They need someone to properly list every listing that includes a list of exactly what is included in what you're buying. Down to OEM or third party. I actually really like your idea about just letting people select OEM or third party to save money when selecting the listing. They need a cleaning process that actually opens them up, checks stuff like thermal paste, and cleans them. Most of all, the business needs to start caring about what they're doing. They have no remorse when it comes to screwing people over for multiple times what people would pay other places.
DKOldies wouldn't be getting dragged if they did basic refurbishing. The fact that they do less than your average Ebay seller is sad. Their quality is dusty garage sale at best.
Yeah I mean if they legitimately started refurbishing consoles and making the website listings accurate, I wouldnât have any problem with them. Their prices would still be high, but if youâre getting a fully refurbished console and a long warranty, I can understand the higher prices.

@David Mozingo why would anyone in their right mind critique the comments?
To be fair, you did order a 20 gig xbox 360. The xbox 360's that came with a 20 gig hdd were the launch models from 05 and 06.
Mid/late 2007 is when hdmi output was added, and mid/late 2008 is when the 20gb was replaced by the 60gb pro. So they absolutely should have specified exactly which revision they would send you.
@@thall6594 Why? It's up to the CUSTOMER to specify what they want. If you're not sure about something, then you should ask. Either way, he got a working Xbox 360 with a 20Gb HDD... exactly what he ordered.
So how do you explain the fact that they advertised hdmi?
They can always snap a 20 gig bulk replacement or aftermarket drive onto a newer revision of the classic model.
@@another3997 I think you seem to miss the point. The reason why it's a problem is because a lot of the models from 05-07 have rrod which kills the console permanently. So it's an absolute problem. My nephew had an xbox 360 with no hdmi port, but the component cable was capable of outputting 1080p and it looked great, just like an hdmi. But of course, the red rign of death killed it.
At this point I find it funny that youâve ordered with them so much that they should be catching on by now.
Heâs probably going to milk it for a while. He was one of the first creators who made vids exposing dk oldies. Itâs only recently that dk has been getting called out by everyone and people are eating it up. Youâll prob see a couple more dk oldies videos from Jacob
I would love if he ordered a console from them and there is like an ant farm secretly hidden inside the console somehow. Thriving lol. That would be hilarious.
The Opus was only distributed as a Microsoft refurbished Xenon that died due to the red ring. Opus motherboards are highly sought after because they work well and live inside launch system shells; you get the appearance of a launch model with the better longevity of the Zephyr
I remember when my first 360 red ringed. It was the day Mass Effect 2 came out and I was PISSED. because I pre ordered the game, and now I couldn't even play it. it actually red ringed about 15 minutes into the game. I decided I didn't want to have it repaired because it would probably just red ring again and I knew the jasper models were out and they were way more reliable. . went to gamestop, told the guy to check the manufacturer date on the box of the 360 to make sure it was a jasper model. (I knew the jaspers came out in November 2008) it said April 2009 So I knew it was a jasper bought it, It's actually still going strong to this day. My dad keeps it in his room and uses it as a DVD player. (He's really old school)
how they have not found your channel and not been embarrassed by there work is baffling
The kicker is they found his channel and actually called him, and yet they sent him another crap console
You would think seeing as they called you, theyâd know to send you their best. Obviously not. Also, just bought an elite from eBay, original box, all books and accessories in original bags, flawless cosmetic condition like brand new, works perfect for $90.
Friends xbox got a RROD in high school, after fumbling around with it I replaced the x-clamps with machine screws. In the end it turned out the red ring wasn't from heat and it was just that his power supply died.
I still have a working day 1 360 20 gig. I used it everyday for years until the slim launched and still take it out here and there to test it and it still works. I kept it as a rare example of a day 1 360 that hasn't(yet) red ringed. I know it's a ticking time bomb though.
Wow, that's the oldest of the xenons without the updated heatsink and glue around the chips. Amazed it's still running. Then again, it froze on you, which is the precursor to RROD!
Wait a second you paid 120 bucks đł wow I would of sold you one with HDMI for 20 bucks
I remember Game informer when they compared the original 360 Core package and said tough Turkey you want crisp HD visuals? This unit only supports standard video inputs.
After seeing that ps3, I am surprise this xbox didn't set it self on fire the moment it was booted up. That and they didn't charge 360 dollars for the xbox.
I think its funny that they put warranty seals on a console that they can't enforce lol
Huh? They can though lol
@@MTSGaming warranty stickers aren't enforceable in the United States, look it up lol
Why do you keep giving them money?
To keep exposing how ridiculous DKOldies prices are

My first 360 maintenance was a painful experience removing the x-clamp. After that. I discovered the screwdriver technique where you can easily pop one clamp at a time ease.
I had the og that RRODed after an overnight gaming session. It was loud af and the tray wouldnât open when vertical. Was probably the worst quality system I ever had. Made a a PlayStation fanboy for a while. Now Iâm PC, bro!đ
Pretty soon, you're gonna have to start ordering through an alias or a friend or neighbor. Otherwise they're gonna start cherry picking your orders to make sure they look nice, but still neglect every other customer.
honestly most boards after the xenon are fairly unlikely to red ring unless you thermally abuse them, (removed incorrect information, correct information is in a reply)
most falcons are probably fine to use
but yes giving you THIS 360 for 120 dollars is outrageous, you can get a 360 S in brand new condition with oem controllers for that price
That is not at all what caused the RRoD. The RRoD was caused by a low Tg underfill used to support the solder bumps that connect the GPU to the substrate interposer. This would cause frequent stressed connections due to an inability to properly handle thermal cycles and eventually break the connection. This was fixed in later Falcon boards (~March 2008 onwards) as well as Jaspers.
I remember modifying my 2005 Xbox 360 with erasers on the x clamps or something like that. It never had any problem after that. I bought an Elite 360 a couple of years after that tho.
Sending the worst version of the console was low key spite
Loving these DKOldies videos! Please keep âem coming!
As a gamer, an a actual rational person,I would not sell this boundle more than 40 bucks faulty power brick third party controller ,worst version of xbox, and with no thermal protection, I could understand double that of a company but at least fix some basic things, Dk oldies they treat as like garbage, it s like retro should be a privilege to play premium prices for systems that are ready stop working any time, especially with theirs refubished bullcrap , the thing is if a normal person priced somthing similar nobody whould buy at such outrageous prices, but people are buying from them cause they have that supposed trustworthy company ,we can see how trustworthy they are
Just going off memory here, but I believe the Burger King trilogy of games were actually dual system - the disc has both an original Xbox and 360 copy on it. While they work in an original Xbox, if you play them in a 360 you can get achievements. As far as I know they're the only games on the system to do this. Might be why the drive had some difficulty.
You are doing an amazing work with these videos. Unfortunately their marketing campaign is very good and a huge chunk of people fall right into their trap. Hope they realise what is going on through your videos
What trap a lot of people has gotten a lot of good things from there
@@crash3168u watch the video?
Got one from goodwill for 8 bucks, works perfectly.... Guess Im gonna go to dk oldies now and spend more for worse
My first 360 in 2006 had no HMDI either wow I almost forgot about that!!!
I still remember buying a non HDMI 360 from a flea market and I got scammed đ but at least I "only" paid 35...
Step 1: Buy overpriced stuff from shady company, for the 100th time.
Step 2: Act surprised and/or disappointed.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.
I had bought one of these x box 360 and I got rid of it fast! I found out that these models had the red ring after I had bought it from my neighbor for $50.00.I sold it for $100 dollars.Thank God I got rid of it before it was to late.
I remember the year they were giving 360's away for free (with rebate) on black friday lol
Idk anything about Xbox consoles that much, but the disc drive should NOT be that loud, at least in my personal experience. I think I own a Jasper one as it is one with an HDMI port and hasn't RROD ever. I have first party everything, execpt for the controller, probably. Haven't played in like a year and a half, but I plan on checking to see if it works sometime this week. I'll probably buy a can of compressed air and get the tools to take it apart to clean it out.
I stop buying from DkOldies bc I was told if I slept with him or one of his employees Iâll get a 50% discount which was freaking capped!
I would actually love to have a classic Xbox 360 like that with only the AV input. I could hook one up to my old television or buy some component cables for it for a regular television.
I have an Xbox360 Slim, and it has both AV (which I've connected to my CRT) and HDMI out. I like it, because I have more options
I can't belive they have the audacity to put warranty stickers on the consoles lmfao đ€Ł
I bought a used but fully boxed 360 from ebay for under 70 bucks shipped
