The profile names on the red xbox 360 are models of a car. Mitsubishi Evolution (Evo) 9th generation, GSR is the trim level. FQ400 is once again an Evolution model, 9th generation, JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Evolution 10th generation. That's for the first three profiles

Hey Jacob, don’t forget there’s some of them capacitors under the gpu heat sink, they may or may not be popped but when you replace the thermal paste check under the gpu heat sink. Also a tip for replacing those capacitors, either get low melt solder or preheat the board cause those caps aren’t easy to replace with just a soldering iron and solder imo.
Use 60/40 leaded solder. Low melt isn’t very good. Flow some fresh solder on and then desolder.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The resell value for Wiis has been so low for so many years now that a lot of consoles get passed around from owner to owner and being super cheap it's not really that unusual for someone to buy one for 20 bucks off a friend or get given one by a family member, they fire it up and play with it once then forget about it. I know for sure I've bought old consoles and done exactly that. And also my family has been given things like 3Ds from cousins that they didn't use.
My partner and I were going to buy a wii then we found one in a forgotten drawer so this is probably right.

My very first experience with a 360 was with a friend who got one a day or two ahead of launch because he won a sweepstakes. It caught fire before launch day. Sufficed to say I waitied for the slim before I bought one.
Those bunch of letters are car names from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution family
About the Wii disc drives. You could salvage parts off some of the broken ones and use them to fix up any that are not running smoothly.
EVO9GSR is referencing the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 GSR, and I think FQ400EBIX is referncing the Lancer Evo X FQ400
You could jailbreak the PS3's that have broken disc drives and sell them as Jailbroken. I would buy a console with a jailbreak already pre-installed, and Im sure there's quite a few people out there that would as well.
Found this channel in my recommended, been binge watching and learning about consoles through this really cool, I had like 5 Xbox 360’s growing up and didn’t know about the different motherboards until today
This dashboard is actual kinect dash. I started to have xbox 360 from Jasper revision, was on NXE and strongly remember day when I bought kinect with adapter and had to update to this dashboard in order to use kinect. It may not be the first kinect one by version numbers but definitely the first one in terms of design which had support of Kinect.
Yeah it’s technically the Kinect dash, but it’s basically just a reskinned slightly different nxe. Everyone always references the big 3.. blades, nxe, and metro. Nobody really acknowledges the little Kinect dashboard thing that was briefly thrown in the middle lol
My Jasper and Slim are connected to the internet (I don't use the Slim because the power brick emitted smoke but I know they're both on Metro.@@jrob0021
The first Xbox 360 Elite is a late Falcon and if that motherboard red rings, 9 times out of 10 it’s the caps. It’s pretty reliable chip wise. And that RE edition 360’s capacitor hissed, it reminded me when a beat up Xenon did that too me, got the caps fixed, then to find out the GPU was done, probably was sitting in a garage for a long time.
With all those popped caps, I wonder if that first XBox console got hit with lightening or some such. Surprised that thing even booted up and able to run a game!

I’m super shocked you received that red Jasper board 360 with Sanyo caps manufactured in 2009. They are known for failing, I’ve seen so many 360’s with those caps fail prematurely but only seen them on 2008 models. Had a Jasper arcade on blades with them with the same issue minus the smoking.

Ahh the ol' 0102 error on the 360. Brings back memories of when I used to reflow these as a service. Of course it only lasted a few months at most, so yeah not worth even fixing it.
Those caps have seen better days! 😂 and magic smoke in one video! Damn...
those ps3 super slims were very cheaply made. the tabs on the trim pieces were very prone to breaking off, I had a few on mine break when I had to take it apart to replace the fan. the fact that some of yours were relatively intact was a miracle.
All original SNESs are brittle, not the junior ones.

I would check for wifi connectivity with the Wiis. I bought one from someone on marketplace before and it wasn't able to connect to the wifi. I bricked it trying to get wii games to work with a flashdrive by updating the wad files that would have automatically if it connected

Was wondering if since you have so so so so so many consoles if you ever thought of donating to those who are less fortunate to supply kids with consoles ! Or even maybe just surprising some of your own subscribers! But sadly you just keep them and sell them which is understandable, but i know in reality you have plenty in your flat which you could help others! Maybe think of others for once ?
a trick with the slim is hold the eject button while plugging in power the fans will spin up and blow out the dust
I've seen super slims with black screen issues. These have absolutely no heatsinking on the GPU VRAM, there is no heat spreader on these. I always put a thermal pad on the VRAM when I'm cleaning them out.
Yikes. I've never owned a ps3 before. But ill make sure to avoid super slims lol.
@@droksbeel Yeah, all versions have issues though. The thing is to find one that hasn't been too abused and rebuild it with good paste and thermal pads and make sure it doesn't run too hot.
@@randysmith7094 same thing with xbox 360s really. I only use jasper v1s and v2s for gaming on. The v2s barely get warm when gaming.
Don't get rid of that Xbox with Marble blast ultra. I dont think you can download it anymore even just the demo. I loved that game so much and I wish I could just play it again.
Evo9GSR and FQ400 are both variations of a car. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. The FQ400 being an aftermarket company that supplied parts to boost power up to 400hp! It's car guy stuff. :)
It would be fun if you could go through the profiles a little slower. It’s more entertaining than just checking a disk drive.
I was pretty upset when my Red 360 died. Board was destroyed by those leaking caps :( Replacing them did nog fix it, I suspect there was damage due to the leaks. I kept its shell in storage.
Yep, it has Overheating issues and it hasn’t cooled off until you need a better heat sink and/or caps for the Xbox 360.
"Left 4 Dead 2 Almost Here" 0 game score for LFD2.. Idk what happened there but it's kind of heartbreaking.
This is why when I found a used original white 360 at valley village that amazingly worked perfectly and even came with the component hookups, opened the whole thing, cleaned it, put full on PC termal paste on all the chips that had heat sinks, and just made sure the whole machine got a lotta tlc before I went out, got the WiFi module, and even spliced a 360 slim HDD into an original 360’s snap on HDD module. Now I have an original white 360 that amazingly still works, even after all this time, and Intend to keep it that way.
I fixed a red ring on an xbox 360 by applying some solder paste on the cpu and then baking on the oven at 230F.

I don't think that Goodwill took all the hard drives out because number one they're usually not that much storage and they're extremely slow but also I'm kind of a tech nerd and I just hoard hard drives like I kept one for my PS3 even though it is slow just in case I need it so I think that maybe somebody else took all the hard drives out and then donated them all.

Power supply issues cause so much trouble, especially in IT. Even a dodgy ground can start causing lockups and bluescreens/kernel panics, yet people still cheap out on the most important component!

tbf the wii seems to have a decent laser to read scratched discs. at least once I had a gamecube game that didn't read on a gamecube but it worked on my wii 😅

V1 Jasper Consoles where known to suffer cap failures caused by low quality Sanyo Capacitors.
Those 360 Elites have an issue where they open more reliably on their side than standing up. Mine does, at least. It still fails sometimes, but if it's standing it's 10x worse.

That PSU is sus, but when caps sit unused for a long time and are powered up again there's a small chance for them to blow like that. It's worth noting that those caps might be from the capacitor plague

@@jrob0021the 360s with black nichicon/nikon caps seem safe. I have opened xenons with black caps that worked perfectly. Never opened one with sanyos tho.
I went thru 6 360s back then. My wife's 1st 360 was that RE one and it still works lol I have the halo 4 one.

wow. I still have my original white wii its modded and is the gc compatible one. My external hdd is a 2tb custom made one that looks like a tiny wii! What should i do to keep it maintained i struggled with my original xbox caps and probably wont touch caps again :(

Its funny how you took the consoles apart, when it was stating that the initial fault was because of the PSU....but you don't take it apart. The PSU contains a fan and can get clogged up with dust. I know this, because I had the same problem.

My 360 Elite still has a Red Ring, No fault on anyone. It was just something that I had yet to get fixed. I just never had bothered sense.
Ok I love playing around with Xbox 360s the first Xbox I worked on had a red ring of death and I swapped the external hard drive and the black Wii is rare but would love to know where I can pick up a few consoles to fix my self somtimes if the mother board it's self is shot I usually find the same year Xbox 360 and swap it that way
Some of the capacitors on 360's are in a bad place. They run hot anyway, but put them on the exhaust side of a heatsink and they've got hot air being blasted over them. A recipe for disaster, and something I still put right these days. Yup, people still use these things :)
