This unique opportunity allowed us to tour the design center and factory for computer hardware and case manufacturer In Win, allowing us to see not just the new Mini-ITX ModFree wood case, the Dubili cases, and the POC 1 case, but also the entire design studio where it's all concepted and prototyped. This unprecedented access to the design facilities and team has enabled us to give a behind-the-scenes look at how computers are made, fresh from #Computex. Video shot in Taoyuan, Taiwan. In Win has been making computer cases for a long time, but it's trying fiercely to have a Lian Li-style break-out moment and become a major player in PC DIY, including and especially in the mini-ITX market.

wow
The color is great, but I want leather on it too.
that mega case is soooo cool
I Really hope they release woodgrain themed cases the world needs more woodgrain
Steve, your thumbmail makes you look like you took a long drag from a fat blunt and are now in a chipper and mellow mood mate
Shout-out to InWin for even allowing this. You can tell this group is passionate. So much more genuine than the "conference room" setup.
I hope in win doesn't fade out. It was a juggernaut back in the day
Tons of cases in the room. And absolutely NONE with a single freaking 5 1/4'' drive bay. Look. I really do get that this team is passionate and creative, and some of the cases do look pretty, but I'm tired... *I'm really freaking tired of this trend.* Just yesterday, I was using my hot-swap drive bay to transfer hundreds of games onto a drive for storage. A couple weeks ago, I used an optical drive in another bay to play one of my blu-rays. On a modern case, I'd have to find and bust out some clunky USB cable with a clunky peripheral and find some place to put it, then detach everything and store it again because if I don't, it takes up valuable USB slots for nothing. But case manufacturers seem more concerned about doing ANYTHING other than adding ACTUAL functionality and modularity to their cases. Just MOAR COOLING that quite literally over 90% of people do not need.
I'm tired and I want to see something actually different and useful in modern cases that isn't just cooling and aesthetics related. And I partially blame Steve for this trend as well as I have never seen him say a peep about any of this and he focuses so freaking heavily on cooling at the expense of other factors about the case. Now, don't get me wrong. cooling IS important. But c'mon. It's not the ONLY thing important about a case. There's so many other factors like durability, ease of access, port selection, power supply placement, weight, and other things. And sometimes those things are covered, but they generally take a backseat.
@@arnox4554 you're in the minority and upset the PC industry Is changing in a more cooling oriented direction for the better. You're complaining that the vast majority of people don't need the cooling so they should include 5 and a quarter inch drive bays but the argument works both ways. Also your complaints at the end are ridiculous. Durability is better then ever, gone are the days of aluminum frames. It sounds to me tho that's you're complaining about the lian li
Lian li o11 and I don't know what to tell you because as someone who worked for a boutique builder up.until recently those cases in particular have excellent build quality, airflow, ease of access and it innovated on power supply placement in a positive way. To me it sounds like you just want a o11 with 5 and a quarter inch bays and you're upset about that lmao
@@darbstre2900
*removes expansion bays*
*uses solid glass for the front panel*
Cooling. Right.
Honest feedback for InWin, 100% love the champagne gold cases. There is FINALLY a case that can match Noctua's color scheme!
oh yeah I didn't even think about that but yeah would match pretty neatly
Yip, champagne wine cases = Apple II beige cases. Definitely a win and a nod to the past with modern features like glass panels...
I LOVE the champagne look, I honestly love anything that is a step away from RGB on black or RGB on white. It's very refreshing to see; especially seeing it done well.
amen. love the different colorways and materials. like the pop series and North cases. but those champagne cases were beautiful.
Fully Agree, Whole Heartedly Anti-RGB here, I love that Champagne Case with the solid side panel I just wish it had the perforated front on it like the model shown with the glass side window.
I have glass side panels right now and I regret getting them, they are just far too fragile and honestly I'd rather have a quieter system with sound isolating foam ONLY on the side panels with perforated front panel, top panel, bottom panel, and rear panel.
That gold colour with that beige champagne tone is just gorgeous!
Those golden bullet shaped screw caps are also an awesome colour, I'd prefer if they were not bullet caps and instead were the same shape but said "In-Win" on the face of them & had knurled sides on them, but key to liking them is that golden finish!
Same. Colours like champagne, ash, creme, etc as well as brass/copper/gold-like metals, tinted tempered glass, and details in materials like wood and leather is always refreshing and appealing, IMO.
champagne with noctua setup would be awesome
First thing that got my attention at the beginning b-roll was those cases. Would love for more case options with those kinds of colors.
The idea of flatpacking and "unfolding" the case makes so much sense. That would make make shipping them so much more eco-friendly! I love it!
A case with less rigidity is more likely to get damaged both in shipping or later in use, and could even pass that damage onto components. A damaged case is also more likely to get thrown out instead of handed down or donated or resold on the used market to someone with less money and smaller demands. You win some, you lose some.
@@Lishtenbird one of the folding cases looked like it used straps instead of bending metal to fold. This would reduce the rigidity but I think it will make it much more durable. It can bend in shipping without actually bending the metal and repeatedly folding it up won't snap the metal.
u got ur co2 licences for breathing ready, ya?
That Tan case with the gold fittings🤌
You know the meaning of 🤌?
@@C.Cancer chefs kiss, imagine thinking it was something else.😏🤭🤣😂😭🤣😂, unless you're really asking then well... now u know.
Would look even better with noctua fans inside amd that asus/noctua gpu
I would like to put a couple modular wooden accent pieces on it.
Yeah for a noctua build it's great.
Appreciate the company willing to share their work/design process publicly. Not much company allow you to see this much. Thanks GN for creating this tour video!!
100%! We're finally getting the access to do these types of cool videos!
It’s fantastic publicity, but you need to have confidence in your products and the person you let into your building. GN has the reputation to get the access. Love it. Kudos GN crew!
I know really are some of the best video's
InWin and there honestly ugly strange cases never made sense. Like take the Lego case as of late. But the hole thing shifts heavily ones the company is willing to show it off. And clearly by the looks of the work place alone you can tell it is not at all fair to make fun or think they are out of touch or not awesome.
It is really refreshing not having advert material to look at but the real deal. Makes you far more appropriate what they do and how interesting it really is that they dare to be different.
@@TheDiner50 Hello! I hope you don’t mind, but I wanted to offer a few suggestions:
1) their [ownership] (there)
2) whole (hole)
3) once (ones)
4) appreciate (appropriate)
There’s a few other things as far as overall syntax goes; but those weren’t nearly as pertinent as what I listed above.
I hope this helps!
I love these pieces so much and I am glad they are giving you the access to show this as it tells a much more interesting story than just another part onto the market.
Thanks for the support! Yes, we love making these videos. I hope the audience gets used to them and clicks on them more -- they're tough to title and thumbnail because it's hard to condense the topics, but the more people see these, the more they'll realize what we're trying to do!
I'm a concept artist and I love this. The sparth drawings for inspiration were awesome to see and I have it up in my office as well. This is seriously the coolest thing to see and the whole team there looks awesome and genuine.
Obviously it works but it reminded me of top gear with Clarkson's Mood Room.
@@Willard_guy yeah one of the other artist showcased on the InWin walls is Scott Robertson who taught transportation design at Art Center, a school famous for its car designers. He designed and made his own truck and it's really cool. I'd check it out.
Those champagne cases look amazing, can Imagine a noctua-themed build inside that, also can imagine a custom-loop filled with actual champagne. So much you could do with those baller cases.
Good point on Noctua! They should stuff that case with Noctua fans!
while i don't think i would... ok it depends on context, i live that color combo, and there are plenty of places that case would fit right in, just that i painted my room black and grey so it would stick out like a sore thumb, but in like a sunroom or something like that, it would fit in perfectly.
Finally, an excuse to lick my computer!
@@BBWahoo you needed an excuse?
I think linus who seems like really into noctua would love that case
Seriously good content been pushed out as of late. It’s no secret we all were feeling pretty tired from repeatedly bad tech launches (aka 4060ti). I think we can all sit back and take a moment to appreciate the tonally upbeat and super interesting stuff you guys are shedding light on. The tours, interviews, and early product analyses feel like a creation of passion
Man, GN has been on the ball releasing tons of quality videos recently. Glad to see the channel succeed!
InWin is such a creative stronghold. Their cases are functional and look amazing.
Inwin: Hey we got this great presentation for for you in the conference room!
GN: Yeah.... can we just check out the cool stuff?
Inwin: absolutely
GN fans: glorious applause.
we are glad to agree with Steve's suggestion lol
The tours of companies are always so interesting
We're trying to get people more interested in them! It shows an important part of the PC DIY scene!
@@GamersNexus this (among just actual good journalism) is why i bought one of your products even though it doubles in price with import costs. Keep on trucking I think is a good saying here? Not sure, not en native
The chandelier case and others look innovative. Nice tour to see.
These guys deserve to be on camera more often and I’m glad to see you recognized that.
It's really nice that Steve is showing us the artist side of case design, instead of just the fabrication. My favorite thing in the video, though, is how clearly excited Steve is to be in that room. He's got the energy of a kid in the candy store.
The wood paneling looks really good, I’d love to see more in the same vein as the brass and wood come to market.
Totally agree, brass and wood looks so good!
@@Lucassymons I think they should do a copper and wood look
That'd be one awesome htpc case.
Fan of DIY Perks by any chance?
Agreed!
I'm really blown away by the creativity that goes into the design of these cases! And I love the initiative to show us more behind the scenes content like this!
The relationships you have built with these companies are amazing. It is a testament to your fairness and honesty that they trust you with this level of access. Keep up the good work.
It's so satisfying to see these companies letting you film "behind the scenes" and you so clearly enjoying showing it all to us, sort of like a discerning kid in a candy store. The passion for the craft (both yours and theirs) really shows through.
The champagne colour could work for a noctua edition, but for me personally if they kept the raw metal look (but not sharp edges) I think it would look awesome
Agree, I feel like that would only work with noctua parts but not really my cup of tea.
@@Dan-Simms exactly the same with me. It would work together well, just not my cup of tea
Personally, I dislike the color because it reminds me of the IBM era of computers. It’s the color of those faded ABS plastic cases.
@@EvanBoldt yes it really is!
you know the designers are serious when you see a sketch book full of nice drawings. It means they're designing stuff non stop and sketching is way faster. As much as I like modeling tools like onshape, it's just not as fast as a pencil and paper.
I love rooms like that. You really get to see the personality of people behind the product. Their imagination, creativity and the various things in their life they're inspired by. Prototyping and developing a product is a bit of a messy process but it also just looks like a play area where they can just let their ideas wander and eventually you end up with something they'll take to market! That's fantastic. Really cool to see.
I always passed over InWin when looking at cases before, prefering to either stick with the really big brands or the more niche boutique brands but if they really are this passionate and dedicated to the craft, I'll have to keep an eye on them from now on. Keep up the great reporting guys.
Ditto. This is really neat.
They would have sold more cases by now if 9/10 of their designs didn't have questionable (at best) airflow
3:40 that art inspiring their work is dope to see, gotta respect the amount of effort they put into cases
Lots of Scott Robertson there I see 👍
I really appreciate Steve’s approach to tech journalism. Telling the untold story of the people who innovate and create tech everyday.
It is awesome to see that the Team was so chill to let GN do this mini tour and showing such an important piece of the creative process. This is fascinating...
12:40 as someone who prefers a 2001 space odyssey monolith style pc tower, that champagne concept is really badass. Kinda tired of the same old designs, I think they hit that one out the park!
Chanpagne color for me is a YES. Obviously I am biased as I own few of their signature cases, Xframe, Dframe, Sframe and I’m hoping they will show something in similar design this year so fingers crossed.
we hear you :-)
This is simply the coolest. I love the clutter and organized chaos of the space, it's exactly as you'd expect to find this place. I love how candid it is.
designers are panic when they know Steve is going to take video in their office, but this is how the real designers' office look like !
@@INWINRETAIL Absolutely love it! Fantastic of you guys to let us see this, it was really cool to see.
I love Steve's enthusiasm and giddiness. He is like a kid in a candy store and doesn't know what to look at next.
I like the champagne! I have In Win's Explorer case in Bone White so I seem to be biased towards anything beige lately lol. I love how In Win always push the limits, even if it's not always to my taste, I still think it's awesome they're doing something memorable and different. Love your tour videos, super cool and interesting!
this is very encouraging, thank you !
@@INWINRETAIL I like the champagne case as well. The brass screws really set it off. It and the stainless steel one would both be good starting points for a steampunk type of build with polished copper/brass liquid cooling lines and nixie tubes displaying cpu temps or something.
As an industrial designer, this was a great watch!
Met all of them at CES. Was really fun spending time with them and their new products. We spent a lot of time discussing the case layouts. They are all very passionate. I love how flashy they always make their booths/trade shows.
Champagne color would sell well enough! It's classy IMO
So this was basically Steve wandering around the room being happy and ADD. I like it!
Really happy to see the coverage of not just the technical stuff behind the manufacturing, but also the design center and the people that work on the design and prototyping and stuff. I used to work with instrumentation as an experimental physicist, and I had to work with many wonderful engineers and designers who brought about great, ridiculously user-friendly design that is so easily missed/underappreciated. I no longer work in this field, but this takes me down a trip through the memory lane, and really glad to see the coverage of the folks behind the designs and bringing alive the design from concept.
Just seeing Steve geek out about all this amazing design work just makes my day. I can't stop smiling while watching.😁
I absolutely LOVE videos like this - its great to put some faces and real people behind the vendors that make our stuff.
This was awesome! Love that there are true artists in the design room, and I love the idea of, basically, an origami small form factor case. Seems like an efficient use of materials and space, easy to set up, and with Steve’s suggestion of just poking more holes, could be ventilated well enough for hotter chips nowadays
These are the kind of videos I'm really looking forward to seeing from Taiwan. A different side to the PC stuff we are used to. It would also be interesting to just interview or ask casual questions from staff that work at these places just to see their perspective on that. Please consider talking to staff. It's always interesting to hear what encourages them, what they look forward too etc. Please give us more of these kind of videos Steve, thanks!
Really wish there were more mATX-cases being pushed out. InWin has always been one of the (if not the ONLY) producers that like to go with completely weird cases that may or may not work at times. Love that they dare to push the envelope a bit.
indeed it's not easy to keep going, because we did produce some weird cases >.< we hope to find the balance between trying new things and not too strange.
@@INWINRETAIL I like that you have the guts to produce weird cases :D Some of them are *really* weird, but they're at the very least never boring. Keep it up!
This video was fantastic, and I'm glad In Win gave you the opportunity to poke around. Seeing a video that showcases this kind of passion from their development team sold me on In Win products far more than any review or product showcase could have.
I absolutely love this tour! I'm always looking for new cases and am tired of the basic, boring types. But seeing what InWin is doing is exciting. I love their new concepts and color schemes. Especially the wood and leather incorporated into the design. Hope they will be available soon!
I always look forward to the InWin showcase. They always have such unique designs
As a designer who works in a different industry, I absolutely love this video! Thank you so much to the design team at Inwin!
This is exactly the kind of thing I want to see more of. Not just from GN, but from manufacturers. Let your design guys have fun, and actually show this stuff to the consumers so we can have input on what we'd like to see come to retail, versus what might really wiff.
Not for retail? Dammit, Steve, tell these absolute champions that I want my PC to weigh half a tonne and be a chandelier!!!
They kitbashed it together from retail parts; with a disproportionate case budget and a little elbow grease, you too could have the half-tonne PC chandelier of your dreams.
I LOVE the color combos they chose for the dubili cases and the leather handles. I hope they make it to production, would love to own one
Thanks for taking the time to record this, and thank you InWin for the transparency and letting us take a look behind the curtain. I'm looking at your company's products online right now just because of this video for future build ideas.
I love factory tours to see how things are being designed and made. 10000 times better than meeting in a Conference Room.
It's great seeing coverage of the normal day to day life of product design. So much work goes to get anything off the ground and this can be their entire work lives. Keep it up!
love to see the drawings, and the design studio. i have a new respect for InWin.
Creative videos like these are special. Please make more of these, whether the workers are too shy to be on camera or not.
In a landscape that is full of monochomatic boxes with rainbow puke lights it's heart warming to see that there are people who are creating and experimenting with different materials to bring different as well as exciting products to market. Not to mention some of the designs allow people to express their personalities beyond just different coloured lights and theme builds with stickers.
It was really cool of them to allow you guys to film this, I love seeing stuff like this
Love these kinds of videos. Wish more companies were that open about their design process.
In-Win are the best. I live in Thailand and saw a D- frame case on display in Korat. Unfortunately the line finished years ago. I contacted In-Win directly who put me in touch with their local supplier. Despite the cost, I ordered one which took 2 months. They made me a “one off” and shipped it directly to my door. You don’t see that service everyday, or anymore.
Since then, I’ve supported the brand and purchased a few other In-Win products. Bot mainstream in the west, but big in S.E.Asia.
They rock.
I LOVE the ice cream paint job on those cases! the "gold" accent screws and the industrial design look so good.
I really like these. Some of these cases would work well in an office without looking too gamery or too bland. I love seeing the thought process I could watch these all day.
def... there's too much of those RGB based cases... not everyone wants the light show of RGB, some might just want to have a good case with good ventilation and good looks...
I had one at my last desk job! My first introduction to inwin.
Got to give it to the In Win team, that's a surprisingly interesting design centre considering the default case would be just a simple metal box. Thanks for the insight GN!!!
Its really cool that Inwin let you tour area that's actually responsible for the ideas. I'm not sure if other people feel this way but to me it has always felt as if Inwin products are pretty ok, just missing attention to the small details that make something awesome. For instance like being really thoughtful to how people will be using their products. On a related note, I would so absolutely love a case that is really considered the whole "oh shit something is not working and I have no idea, guess I need to start stripping parts" and allows you to take off panels and parts until your left with just a open bench tray.
we do have the room to improve, lovely products need more attention to details for sure !
That champagne color one ROCKS! It's got a cool retro feel, like mid-century modern for computers, that's just fantastic! I would absolutely buy that!!!!
Would love to see more videos like this, so damn cool to get a bit of behind-the-scenes footage of companies like this and EVGA.
InWin's quality is not always the best, but they definitely have some awesome unique designs!
The main reason I never got a inwin case is partly for that reason. They look cool on the outside, but the inside will usually have some fatally annoying flaw that makes the higher cost not worth it.
Been rocking my gorgeous InWin 901 mini ITX case since 2016 and still going strong!
@@ventilate4267 just like people!
@@glebglub lmfao
@@ventilate4267 I'm satisfied with their Chopin Max (which they've had a few iterations on) but it's definitely tight. I imagine their recent design-led efforts aren't necessarily perfect in all areas if they're more for looks than practicality.
Inwin, thank you for the InWin A500 case from 1998. It was the first case that did not try to cut my hands. As a system intergrator this was awesome!
Dear InWin - Thank you for opening your doors and showing us how you work! Now when I am shopping for cases, I will remember you and your office and the real people there - you have my respect 👍🏽 And that wooden case - it looks great 😊
i would love to see the mod free (?) series to have modular radiators with QD Mounts. You could entirely disassemble the modules without much effort and have full access to everything.
The wooden PCs are great, I love the design of the system76 cases for example.
I could watch these tour ALL THE TIME! 🤣 Thanks to InWin for so much free access. I like the silver color scheme over the champagne btw.
Love the Champaign color combination of that case. InWin has always made many cool and unique cases.
I love the fact that some companies are trying new things and new colours.
But no RGB though 😢
You have no idea how excited I get every time you post a new vid
Concepted is not a word. Conceived, man, conceived.
I love whenever you drop in a casual clip of you speaking Chinese. Absolute flex
The tan and brown would match Noctua fans / GPU
12:47 it looks decent, but the color is so close to Noctua's, they might as well go with their color scheme in a colab.
I really hope they keep coming out with more wood-coloured cases and the like!
I loved every case on the table including the champagne, silver, POCs, and the space pod ones. Those were awesome!
That champagne Dubili case is perfect for Noctua build. I like it.
holy crap how are they not more popular... that champagne one is so good, heck all those cases look crazy cool
Prices are a bit high, volume is lower for designer cases. They've not got a persistent presence in resellers, in the UK at least, not always latest product when they are here.
InWin has always been a super cool and interesting case manufacturer. I've had a 901 for essentially a decade at this point and it's still one of the best looking and built cases I've come across to this day. It's cool to see they're continuing to innovate and come up with interesting concepts in the space.
Never been able to afford an In Win case that I liked, but I appreciate all the unique cases and ideas they put into the market. Thank you for the behind the scenes.
That champagne case is such a banger
There seems to be a stereotype of East Asian people lack imagination and innovative ideas, and I am glad that Steve is able to cover the story in an angle that shatters that stereotypes.
Champagne colour case is beautiful and the mix with the gold is amazing.
Mannnnn those sketches and studio definitely reminds me of my industrial design school. Ah good Ole days.
I do admire their creativity, but their shapes and colors are too cute for my personal taste… Their design languages are also kinda all over the places.
why not... tho the cutey design should be for a single line, unless for a Limited Edition or partnership
If you can deal with the size of mini ITX they have some small and solid business boxes, check out the Chopin? Have to agree there's a lot of variation.
Champagne, gold, and brown leather..its amazing! And so is that whole concept place, awesome inwin ♥
I'm using an InWin A3 and honestly, it's one of the nicest mini towers I've ever built in. Glad to see them getting some recognition.
The Champaine Color is AMAZING! Like a cool livingroom PC would really impress guests.
Love this! My respect for in-win just went up 10000%.
Organic stuff like this is the best form of marketing.
Also love your enthusiasm Steve. You were like a kid in a candy store…. You were even out of breath at times!! 😂😂
The InWin Dubili is absolutely beautiful, it's honestly the perfect design I've been looking for.
InWin has been on of my favorite brands for years just for how unique they are. I check their offerings every time I start planning a build. Unfortunately none of their cases fit the use cases for my builds, but I did once get the joy of building in that InWin x EKWB case for a build I was selling to a friend.
In-Win has always struck me as a very creative company, so getting a look into how they do things is awesome. I've said this for years already, but your factory tour content is easily some of your best.
It's great that these guys in the back get some face time rather than never hearing/seeing anything from them. Fractal are one of the few companies I really like and buy from so its cool to see stuff like this.
Great idea Steve and co! 😄 Well done 👍🏽 Hopefully other companies see this - this is a great way to build a connection with customers
Really glad you called an audible. This is such a neat story.
idk if anyone else would buy the champagne colored cases, but I LOVE them. They would co super well with all of the wood tones I have in my room
14:50 The way they received criticism bodes well for their continuing prosperity in the industry!
