  • Update: The method used is obsolete now since the new version can be screwed down with out needing to worry about torque. Remember, this footage was taken from my build in 2023.....
    Ok guys, so here is another video using outtake footage of the Kratos God of War build.
    On this one we install a Thermal Grizzly contact frame and test to see how accurate the instructions are, and if they even get close to the recommended torque. Let's check it out and see!

    Credit to ‪@GamersNexus‬ and their installation original video here: • Investigating Intel's ... Note that it's obsolete as well with the new version of TG's contact frame released.
    Also, the Thermalright one works just as good and I stand correct as to which one came first. In the video i said ThermalGrizzly came first, but a few people have stated the Thermal Right one did. What I do know for sure is that they both work well and one is cheaper.

    EDIT/NOTE: So this method that was done last year is pretty much obsolete now! Why? Because the newer version of this contact frame does not to be adjusted/measured for perfect torque.....anyway this is another little video made from outakes of the GOW build. I got about 8 degrees cooler from just using the contact frame. Also a few other important points on this video:
    1. Not sure if thermalright or the thermal grizzly came first, and I did not mean to insinuate that thermalright was one of the copy cats. What I do know is they both work about the same (yes I tested both) and one is priced much lower. Also I still feel that there are other knockoffs that copy designs, it is what it is in the industry.
    2. This was a video put together using old unused footage and was meant to be more of a tongue in cheek video checking GN's work to just get things rolling with the new channel here. It was never meant to be a specific actual "how to install a contact frame" video, although there is some good information on there about it that is helpful. At first, I thought just a few people would see it. But I am now realizing that some people might have been looking for a "real" install video and ended up here. So I'll put together one soon and provide the link here soon.
    Get your Thermal Grizzley Contact frame here: amzn.to/3Tl1FRi (affiliate link). or ThermalRight amzn.to/3TWxrWF
    Credit to @GamersNexus and their installation original video here which we used to test out their accuracy: czcams.com/video/Ysb25vsNBQI/video.html But NOTE - it's ALSO obsolete as well with the new version of TG's contact frame released.

    blew me away when you used the torque driver, not many people get that technical. I do, which is why I always look for those types of specs on anything that requires building. Great job and content.

      We build our high end computers the same way, especially with custom loops and plexi, torquing every bolt and make a rapport from the computer. We have special work orders for our people. But She is doing one mistake, she should fasten the bolts, overhead and at a pattern. We started to use torque screwdrivers, when one of our guys, fastened a 600€+ motherboard too hard and I still can hear the snap. Good that our vendor replaced it with a new one. But this happened only once. Our guys themselves came up with the idea for the torq. I'm very lucky to have such workers, can't say that enough.

    I used a torque screwdriver when I installed mine. As an auto tech for 40 years I'm pretty anal about accuracy when it comes to torqing nuts and bolts

  • @arthurmoore9488
    @arthurmoore9488 Před 12 dny

    Something to note is that the marking method is actually more accurate than the torque driver.
    Screw torque relates to clamping torque based on a formula that has the friction of the threads as a variable. Which means there's always going to be some variation. It also means if you use anti-sieze or thermal paste on the screws the torque spec is going to be wildly wrong. However, the marking method is still correct.

    Wonder if you can help with a conversion?
    I have a torque screwdrive that covers 0.3 - 1.2 nm, will that be of any use for this please?
    Can't find any conversion for centi nano to nano.

    • @SnaxanTech
      @SnaxanTech  Před 2 měsíci +2

      So if i remember my math correctly (It's been a while!), the original thermal grizzly contact frame needed to be 4-6 centi nm which is .04-.06 nm. So yours will be too tight. BUT, the newer versions of the thermal contact frames don't need to be torqued at a certain level! You can also use the knockoff version (if you choose to) that's cheaper and doesn't need to be torqued perfectly too amzn.to/4agO9p8

      On Intel messing up mostly just means worse thermals, on PGA-AMD; basically anything pre-DDR5 you can literally temporarily brick your socket, which is only resolved by removing torque again.
      To be clear; this ain't a problem for an average user as they should use coolers that prevent overtorquing anyway.
