Awesome video and I’m in the process of full lawn renovation which is tough in NJ and a young Boxer. I’m working a Tall fescue with 15% bluegrass. I found cutting my lawn in different directions every other cut gels with the grass laying over. Look forward to more content.
I switched to tall fescue after the harsh summer last year. The seeds from last fall is coming in so thick right now. We overseeded again in the spring and the lawn right now with the start of spring blooming looks amazing.
Got into lawn care last fall so I’m very new at this and I have been watching your videos and creeping on your channel ever since. Woke up this morning very early and couldn’t go back to sleep so I started catching up on your videos and realized I haven’t subscribed to your channel yet despite constantly coming to it and peeping for updates, lol. I’m honestly not much of an avid CZcams watcher. 😂
I like the look of taller cut grass but you are correct about the high traffic area getting laid over not looking very nice. I actually scalped and seed rye onto where the paths are and cut the paths pretty short. Kinda neat looking without pavers or anything bordering it
Got 6 inches of snow in Ohio, trees down everywhere! Crazy heavy wet snow! Just got some mean stripes couple days before but luckily all the snow melted by next two days!
Was curious about your neighbor's lawn. Looks great. I did a similar reno last fall and have some mixed results. One side yard looks phenomenal while the other side and back lawns have been really patchy/slow to grow in this spring. Did nothing different between the areas. The sun does hit the good side yard significantly more so I'm guessing that is probably the biggest reason for the inconsistencies.
@Ryan Knorr Lawn Care the blend of grass you seeded with also has fescue with lateral spreading technology. I used the southern version of that Super Turf (that doesn't have bluegrass) and it is amazingly lush. I almost wonder if you could mow it low, even. I mow mine high, though, because it helps the drought tolerance (which is a big issue down here).
I appreciate your comparison from your front and back yard. As someone who lives in Arizona, extremely hard soil I am still trying to figure my lawn out. I am extremely interested in going the short type in my front for looks, and longer in the back for my dogs. It is quite intimidating as I am from the midwest where the soil was so great, quite the opposite here.
“...party in the back and business in the front" Mullet lawn: Perennial Rye(Ryan)grass in the front and tall fescue in the back. Your channel is awesome...you've motivated me to seed my own CZcams channel and watch it grow. Beat 80's perm and be one of the first subscribers. Thanks!
That tall fescue at Pauls is going to do great considering it came up with little rain so it will be used to that, so it will be a much tuffer grass than if it was irrigated
Gosh this climate would annoy the crap out of me. Here where I am in Australia, Fall as you would call it, currently 75-80 F and I am feeling the cold lol. A really cold winter's day is about 50f, never snows warm season grass still grows year round.
Hi Ryan, just mow your tall fascue more often AND the Allett Reel Mower has a fixed grass rake behind the front Roller to standing up grasses prior to cutting. This feature doesn’t have a Swardman (sadly) 🤗🤗
Would love a video about how you are handling the Poa triv. I recently discovered some in my backyard which I suspect came from overseeding last fall. I nuked the patches with glyphosphate; hopefully thats the right way to handle it.
I’m crying inside. I got sidetracked on my yard prep taking care of gopher issues now I think it’s too late to get everything done I’m Phoenix... still need to finish killing off the grass, installing irrigation and tilling/leveling
You should do a video on the process of going from a higher height of cut down to a lower hoc. I know you started low and remain low...but it's a topic that I don't see covered at all on the youtube's.
Hey Ryan, I love your channel. I'm new to lawn care, but as of now, I love it! I do have a question for you: What do I do with the weeds that have died with the tenacity? I've killed out some fescue clumps, johnsongrass, and crabgrass. SHould I just let it sit there all summer, or should I dig them out and put down seed or sod? Thanks!
Ryan sorry about the triv. I am there with you! I to am planning on cutting multiple triv spots out of my lawn this summer and seeding this fall. On another note, do you ever have poa annua issues? I did an overseed this fall so I couldn’t do an application of prodiamine. Any recommendations on how to control poa annua would be recommended. Thanks!
hey Ryan, i've watched a million of your video and love them. Now im at the point where im really into lawn care but this year my lawn is not looking so hot. my neighbor is dominating me at this point and im frustrated and want to pay someone to tend to my lawn. The thing is, i'd feel cheated if i did that so im sending out an S.O.S
Any thoughts of putting some type of paver walkway to get to your garden? Maybe one of those pavers where it's 1 every foot or so just to step on vs stepping on the grass.
Hey Ryan. Just bought your guide. I live in Northern California, do you think it's too late for me to start full lawn renovation? We're at 80°/50° daily. Thanks man!
Ryan, what about if the seed I played this "spring" hasn't germinated yet, well these cold temps effect the seed at all besides just delaying the germination? Thanks, love your videos!
I would imagine you have the potential for much better striping with a taller fescue. I mow at 4.5 - 5.0 inches and have some killer stripes using just a push mower with no attachment.
Looks like some type of Poa? My tall fescue lawn was hit hard with it this spring. I had none since establishing the lawn 3 years ago. Then BAM! Would love a video on how you are going to handle it. Herbicides? Kill it off/Reseed? Etc....
Hey Ryan! What are some of your favorite Grass seed brands for replanting a new lawn. I primarily want perennial rye, but I wouldnt mind a blend of all 3 cool season varieties.
Need your advice… I live in Michigan and need to put seed down, your grass seeds are expensive, what over the counter seeds should I get? Don’t know one from the other. Your fecue and blue grass looks beautiful. Is there a mix like that? Thanks
any suggestions for lawn products concerning fleas? we used Vet's Best Flea & Tick Yard & Kennel Spray last year but was wondering if there's something we can use a spreader with or a backpack sprayer?
The tall grass vs short grass debate is like NY Style Pizza vs Chicago Style Deep Dish. One is not necessarily better than the other. It's all about personal preference.
I don't know if it's just personal preference. If you're growing a TTTF, it does better when you keep it tall. Also, if you live in an area that can get very hot, with long periods of no rain, taller grass will do better. But as Ryan mentioned, you also have the issue of mold. I redid 1/3rd of my 1 acre plot last year with TTTF listening to Ryan and the results are amazing so far. For the first time ever, a neighbor told me he was envious of my lawn! I've still got a lot to learn. Let's see how it does throughout the year and if my taller grass theory works out during the hot summer months.
Hi Ryan, I’m about to do a over seeding project this spring. I’m worried about a crabgrass issue in my backyard, can I just seed over the crabgrass hoping the new grass will over power the crabgrass.
Hey Ryan. I live in MN and have a fescue yard. I was thinking about scalping, dethatching, core aireating and over seeding with bluegrass this fall. Do you think this is a ok idea?
question! I put regular fertilizer down instead of starter fertilizer! can I add the started next week to get the phosphate and tenacity or will I torch the grass!?
SNOW in April?! I guess Prince was right. Man, life is so different weather wise outside of Southern California. It was 73° yesterday. Lawn is looking good. Don't be so hard on fescue. It's a TOUGH cool season grass. Its only weakness is fungus.
I did my first overseeding last September and lawn is looking good. My original plan was to overseed every year for 3 yeasr. i was wondering if it is ok to go just that, overseed every year or should I wait? just incase it matters I live in northern Utah. my lawn was in bad shape and now looking pretty good but I have a lot of seed left over and don't want it to go to waste. what advice do you have for a novice like me.
Have you ever tried the seeding Granite KGB. I heard hint darker than midnight KBG, good for turf can be cut shorter, water less let me know have heard. I bot some hasnt arrived yet.
Ryan maybe I missed it but what length are you going to keep your front yard when you talk about deciding that you liked shorter grass what length are you talkin about thank you Simon
I’m in central Minnesota and just bought this house. This lawn is overtaken by Creeping Charlie, crab grass and very patchy. I just picked up a S240 John Deere and I’m looking to make improvements to the lawn this year by cutting it frequently with a mulching blade. Thoughts of using a pre emergent like Tenacity in the coming weeks followed by over seeding with fertilizer and lots of water? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm so interested in that fescue, since that's what I have. What's the HOC back there? Also excited to see how it matures over the next 2 months, still looks pretty young!
Ryan your lawn looks nice, but I guess I got lost somewhere on the type of grass seed you planted. I thought you got rid of your tall fescue, I guess not, it looks real nice.. I really like the tall fescue in my area, except for when it get's hot. In mid summer, July, August, my tall fescue not only get's stressed from heat, but the disease, such as brown patch, and even much worse is gray leaf spot. The later literally wiped out 1/4 of my lawn last year. Have you ever dealt with gray leaf spot, any suggestions? Thanks, John
Think I’m gonna have to kill off my weed infested, uneven, random grasses back yard and I’m liking how your long fescue looks. I’ll probably go with that! Thanks for another inspirational video!
These make me jealous! My lawn was installed a couple months before these ones and mine looks like trash in comparison. I have tons of weeds all over the place - what are you using as far as a spray in large areas? I've got about 20K sq. ft. of lawn, so spraying becomes a hassle. I do use Tenacity in some areas, but a backpack sprayer is a wee bit annoying for such a large area.
Didn’t you have a video explaining what to spray on the lawn for a quick “green up”? I swear I remember you possible spraying down something from lawn solutions maybe?? I’m having a birthday party in about 3 weeks and I want the lawn to be extra dark green.
Purchased your Sloworr liquid nitrogen 32 oz and emailed. Congrats What is the setting for flow rate using concentrate in an Ortho Hose End sprayer please?
Please check the description for more info on videos that included these projects. Thanks for watching!
I like these videos wayyyyyy more than I should for someone who lives in an apartment with no yard or lawn 😂

Your channel reaches around the world! Love how connected we are no matter where we live.
Love to see all the fescue. It will look great once it’s fully matured. Keep up the good work!
Really impressed with the updates. Looks great. 👍🏻
So lucky to have someone that is smart and has great video quality in town. It's nice having someone with the same weather!
Looking good all around! Love the updates!
Looks Great! Ryan.
Hello from Waukee IA! Just found your channel and will be using a lot of this great info to get my yard to where I want it!
Love the updates!
Thank you Ryan these videos are SUPER HELPFUL...
Count me in as a TTTF fan. Sorry you've had some bad luck. But hopefully as you get further into summer, hopefully you'll see better results.
thanks Ryan. great update.
Congrats on the almost 200k subs Ryan!
Lawn is looking great Ryan! It will be interesting to see the differences in the care required for your tttf vs kbg

Great update. Neighbor's yard really came in nicely.
Looking forward to how you handle that poa trivialis. I'm afraid I have some patches as well.
Neighbors lawn on point. Nice work!
Nice video Ryan! Amazing how the homestead lawn came in without irrigation. Poor Thor...
Thanks Ryan!👍
Wow! That project lawn has pretty good results for only raining twice.
Spot on these videos
I live around Ryan. We had thick flurries this morning. I mowed in the afternoon, the fifth time in April.
I switched to tall fescue after the harsh summer last year. The seeds from last fall is coming in so thick right now. We overseeded again in the spring and the lawn right now with the start of spring blooming looks amazing.
Wow your neighbours lawn looks awesome!
Ryan your lawn is great . You actually have a mullet and you have a mullet lawn short in the front long in the back lol
Wow Ryan the neighbors reno came in great and looks really nice......going to be some friendly competition in the future.....lol
The Fescue looks good 👍

Even the people across the street saw improvements!

Weather is the same here in Sweden, we had a week with nice temperatures and the grass started to grow.
But now its snowing again...
Same here in Rochester NY. Snow today. The next week the temperature will keep going up.

Thank for all the information i life in Puerto Rico. Is like summer all year and i seeding bermuda grass. Can you give me some tips.
