  • Heavy Rains which lasted several hours on Wednesday resulted to severe flooding which took over many residential areas, and grounded vehicular movement on major roads in many parts of Lagos State.
The floods submerged homes in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the State and also brought down a two-storey building in the Mushin area of the state.
Thousands of residents have been affected by the floods while some pupils could not attend schools in some parts of the state.
The Lagos State government said the rain lasted for nine hours. Several videos showed commuters submerged by the floods, while some miscreants made make-shift bridges to extort commuters and charged N100 Naira to carry people through floodwater.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, has reaffirmed his commitment to removing structures obstructing the free flow of rainwater, Wahab was responding to a post on X, that questioned if the demolition of Igbo-owned properties and businesses in Lagos was politically motivated.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied meeting with South East governors over the issue of releasing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention, but rather met with the governors to discuss issues of regional development.
The former President disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday, encouraged parents and guardians to warn their wards, against joining a planned protest by what it described as the shadowy group against its operations.
The EFCC in a statement by its spokesperson on Wednesday, said that the shadowy group has been actively campaigning on social media, recruiting young Nigerians, including students, to take up arms against the anti graft agency.
The EFCC further claimed, that the planned protest is aimed at resisting the operational activities of the commission, especially in areas relating to cybercrime.
In Edo state, students of the university of Benin on Wednesday trooped out in protest over incessant power outages in the institution’s campuses.
According to the students, the university was thrown into darkness following its inability to reach an agreement with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company’ over perceived contentious electricity billing. Soldiers were seen in a viral video approaching the protesters who blocked the Benin/Ore highway.
The Senate has turned down a motion seeking an investigation, into the alleged diversion of security funds to purchase a yacht and build universities.
The motion, sponsored by senator Adams Oshiomhole was brought to the floor during deliberations on the recent bomb blast in Gwoza, Borno State.
The lawmakers say it's time for the military to change its strategy against insurgency by deploying modern technology and observed that relying on conventional methods alone, like deployment of troops appeared not to be succeeding, as terrorists continued to use non-conventional approaches in killing Nigerians and destroying their means of livelihood.
Afro beat singer and biker, Joy Ebaide completed her solo ride from Kenya to Lagos, on Sunday, June 30th.
Ebaide who hails from Edo state, began her journey from Kenya, on March 10th. A journey many have described as a testament of her determination and sense of adventure.
She relocated to Kenya from Lagos in search for new experiences only a few years ago and has garnered a huge following online, after she began her adventure.
Posting videos about her journey online, Ebaide narrated how she encountered quite a hassle with some immigration officers in Africa especially in Angola where she had visa challenges and also how she was almost bitten by a snake in a forest in a town in Tanzania.
Speaking on her inspiration to embark on the Journey, Ebaide stated that after encountering a near-death experience, she felt she was given a second chance to life and decided to do more than just live.
On June 30th she became the first African woman to ever accomplish the solo ride from Kenya to Lagos within a four-month period.

Welcome back resplendent Ojy. Brilliant analysis from our beautiful Naija wife, Rufai and Dr Reuben Abati. It is really a shame that after all the bruaha made whilst demolishing people's homes and businesses, and the gigantuan money being made by the government in Lagos people should still suffer these sorts of hardship everytime it rains in the state. This is a wake up call for many living near the sea and rivers around Lagos to think of relocating before the rivers and or sea should break its banks and cause irreparable havoc in people's lives and livelihoods. Trust Nigerians to take advantage of their fellow citizens. EFCC should focus on the cases and investigations on corruption that they still have at hand rather than dabbling into police matters of keeping law and order. Prostesters have a right to protest peacefully without undue threats and intimidation from law enforcement agencies across the country. Thank you very much guys. Please keep safe in that place and have a wonderful day. The equally elegant Ayo is missed today.

Why is it we don't have buildings demolition in London, America and the rest of the western world? We have corrupt leaders who cannot control thier atrocities and greed of money.
    Where are the authorities responsible
    1. When the land was purchased
    2. When the approval for building is obtained
    3. When the foundation was laid
    Were they asleep?
In addition who are the people
    1. Selling these government lands
    2. Approving building plans
    3. State building inspectors
Are they ghost or spirit that cannot be dealt with rather than dealing with the after effects.

The problem with Nigeria is that we are willing to put up with what embarrasses us, what humiliates us, what makes us littler than we really are! If you cannot do something, why can’t you leave the stage for those who can? Why are we siding with second-best? Imposters? Why are we promoting incompetence? If Tinubu and his cronies did not tell us what they can do for us during the campaign, why would they tell us now that they are in power? Why are we joking with our future and our children’s future? Why do we like to flirt with mediocrity? Other people see Nigeria’s potential and greatness, why do we Nigerians not see it? Why do we tolerate bad leadership? Why do we condone it!? Why are we willingly bleeding ourselves to death!?
The time has come when the dead woods must leave the stage, so the youths can fix Nigeria! When a lizard overstays atop a palm-tree, it turns into an alligator. They claim to be implementing Peter Obi’s economic plans. But how can you implement an idea that was not yours to begin with? That is the problem. Why don’t they allow Peter Obi to implement his own ideas? They want to rule Nigeria at all costs! Where has it gotten us?
Peter Obi and Obidients have advanced a lot of ideas that could have transformed Nigeria by now. Instead, Tinubu and his cronies are toying with those ideas and making no progress. Why did Niger State buy 1000 tractors? Is the Government of Niger State a farming state? Peter Obi would have identified individuals who have affinity to farming and funded them. Businesses should be privately owned, not government owned. Tinubu and his cronies are taking advantage of the ignorance of Nigerians and stealing us blind! When you have a criminal as your president, this is what happens!
Nigeria must expand oil production capacity-they lament! How about expand gold, diamond and other minerals producing capacity? How about agriculture? Why is everything about oil? How about solar energy? You people are so misguided in your thinking. Oil, oil, oil! Are we not tired of oil in Nigeria? Are you not tired of milking the Niger Delta? Oil that is taking us nowhere! Oil that is benefiting only few and the rest of the people are starving or living in poverty.
Why are we letting China steal our mineral resources? Why are our leaders allowing Chinese companies to take truck loads of sand out of Benue State? What is contained in that sand? Do we even have leaders at all? Are our leaders in control of our mineral resources? Are our leaders in control of our borders? Who is in charge of Nigeria? What a shame! Why are we folding our hands while resources are being stolen on our watch?
Nigeria don suffer! Everyone wants to be the president of Nigeria. Goat wants to be the president of Nigeria. Dog wants to be the resident of Nigeria. Cat wants to be the president of Nigeria. Even “amebo” wants to be the president of Nigeria. The office is now open to drug dealers, certificate forgers, and career criminals. They are all clamoring to lead her astray. They have no mission, no conviction, just a desire to be president. They have no plan, and they know nothing about business or economics. Pathetic! We need Nigerian solutions to Nigeria’s problems, and the time to do it is now!

Gov Ambode always cleaned these drains in the months of January to March. No flood. I have never seen Gov Sanwolu clean these drains. Lekki has been dry for years but floods now. Both the actions of the soldiers and EFCC were raw display of power. The soldiers whether they were passing or not should have invited the police if they felt there was going to be breakdown of law and order.Until the military learns to stick to their constitutional role they will continue to have deadly clashes with the civilian populace. The military can only come in if there was a threat to national security or a protest has gone beyond the power of the police. It is then and only then can they come in as a reinforcement. As for the EFCC Chairman, this was an intimidating arm twist aimed at muzzling the youths from protesting.I didn't know he was a great admirer of late Abacha who during the Abiola protest warned parents to rein in their children within 24 hours. It is pure gaslighting of youths to say they were being sponsored by corrupt politicians on their radar. It was the same way the EndSars youths were gaslighted of being sponsored by IPOB.Running an agency does not thrive by share propagandism. It thrives by strictly following the law that established the agency and having a good PR that interfaces with all segments of the society which it serves .

As much as I don't like this government, I think you guys are insane with your thinking method. In 2012, there was a heavy flood in Lagos that took lives and Jonathan was our president. It rained non stop for more than 12 hours. Should I blame Jonathan for that? There have been floods in Lagos since I was a child. Government is not responsible but turning this to ethnic jingoism while the guy in charge of canals is Ibo makes you look foolish. Stop the tribal rants. Think with your head as human. These men don't care about your tribes when it comes to politics.

Nice one. All these bike riders who achieve their dreams of having a unique sort of adventure with social camaraderie should try to push for social justice and use their limelight & popularity to help those who don’t have voices or a platform to speak for themselves. Those in prison without trial, judges failing to sign off people’s release, cost of medicines for the poor and even education or just price of petrol coming down. These are worthy causes & they’ll forever have the respect of the ordinary people like us. For now it’s just 5 mins of fame until it’s used for some tangible. I respect Tunde who won the chess championship & smashed d GWR he has that drive & vision.
