Nigeria needs to be neutral and maintain its sovereignty. When two elephants fight, the grass suffers. With all these bases springing up all over Africa, lets not forget what happened in Syria where US and Russia have been fighting tacitly for over a decade. Lets also not forget the WW2 when Hitler attacked allied colonies and our grandfathers were shipped off to Burma to fight for the British. Africa needs home-grown solutions to its problems. I disagree with Rufai. I believe Dr. Abati and Ayo asked their questions to get another perspective but Rufai's questions appeared to come from a place of personal conviction as always and I disagree totally. There is no vacuum. Russia has already stepped in, even though I believe it is not a good move if the intention is to keep them permanently. If it is to provide temporary military assistance in terms of training, logistics and what-not on an agreed timeline to allow the sahel shore up their military, then it may be considerable. But to have US and France with an axe to grind with Russia to site a base in nearby Nigeria would only spell disaster for Nigeria. That would be the day that Nigeria murders sleep.

It is unfair for the media to continue to say Wike is working against the PDP. Not too long ago, the APC member in Abuja had a press conference where they threatened for Wike to be moved as the FCT Minister because they party have summoned him to their party meetings several times and Wike declined to attend. The following day the Minister came out openly to say he was a PDP member APC. Infact he is working with an APC president who honorably gave him a position to serve his country.
